ST. AUGUSTINE - Victoria Lynn Allen, 16, died Oct. 31, 1999, at her home.
Victoria attended Sebastian Middle School, where she was a member of the Media Club. She was born in Jacksonville.
She was an active member of Lake Shore Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. She played first base for the girls' softball team in Jacksonville.
Victoria is survived by her parents, Laura and Glenn Allen of St. Augustine; a brother, Christopher Allen of St. Augustine; her maternal grandparents, Esther and William Gould of DeLand; her paternal grandparents, DeLois and Laurence Allen of DeLand; and her maternal great-grandmother, Beulah Martin of DeLand.
Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine was in charge.

Walter Noah 'Al' Argenbright Sr.
DELAND - Walter Noah "Al" Argenbright Sr., 90, of West Armstrong Avenue, died Oct. 28, 1999, at the Alliance Center for Health Care.
Mr. Argenbright retired in 1984 as the owner and operator of a heating and air conditioning company. Born in Alberene, Va., he moved to this area in 1968 from Burtonsville, Md.
He was a member of Orange City United Methodist Church.
Mr. Argenbright is survived by a son, Walter N. Jr. of DeLand; three daughters, Dorla M. Barley and Helen Carol Royalty, both of Orange City, and Katherine A. Lewis of Frederick, Md.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Helen M. Brewer
ORANGE CITY - Helen M. Brewer, 85, of Northlake Drive, died Oct. 29, 1999, at an area care center.
Mrs. Brewer was a beautician. Born in New York City, she moved to this area 17 years ago from Maywood, N.J.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, who provided for her care, Shirley and Larry Gilmore of DeLand, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Alan C. Bryant
DELTONA - Alan C. Bryant, 81, of Corinthian Avenue, died Oct. 31, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Bryant retired as a civil servant, working for the U.S. government in Davisville, R.I., after 12 years. Born in Canada, he moved to this area in 1969 from Warwick, R.I.
He was a member of Deltona Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Masonic Lodge, the Deltona Shuffleboard Club and the Orange City Shuffleboard Club. He enjoyed fishing, shuffleboard and flying a plane.
Mr. Bryant served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, James F. of Warwick; two daughters, Allene J. Neyman of Glendale, R.I., and Dorothy M. Wingard of Orlando; a brother, Donald of Swampscott, Mass.; a sister, Gwendolyn Keppeler of Kerrville, Texas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Baldauff was in charge.

Lowell Henry Carter
DELTONA - Lowell Henry Carter, 76, of Hartley Avenue, died Oct. 30, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Carter was a jet-engine technical instructor. Born in Beason, Ill., he moved to this area in 1966 from Fayetteville, N.C.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot through 1963.
Mr. Carter is survived by two sons, Col. William Lowell of Oklahoma City and James Robert, retired from the U.S. Air Force, of Goldsboro, N.C.; three daughters, Mary Berry of Deltona, Joanne Theresa Watts of Fayetteville and Patricia Kay O'Riordan of Arlington, Mass.; a sister, Norma Seymore of Calhoun, Ga.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Baldauff was in charge.

Michael David Carter
ENTERPRISE - Michael David Carter, 22, of Clark Street, died Oct. 24, 1999, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville.
Mr. Carter worked in construction. Born in Sanford, he was a lifelong resident of this area.
He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Sanford.
Mr. Carter is survived by his parents, Calvin and Barbara of Enterprise; a sister, Tina of Enterprise; his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Calvin Carter Sr. of Crescent City; and a nephew, Austin M. Carter of Enterprise.
Altman-Long was in charge.

Charles Richard Christian
DELAND - Charles Richard Christian, 57, of Orangewood Avenue, died Oct. 30, 1999, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. A memorial service is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, 126 E. New York Ave., DeLand.
Mr. Christian owned and operated the Fishing Store in New Smyrna Beach. Born in Fort Lauderdale, he moved to Volusia County in 1997.
He loved sports.
Mr. Christian is survived by his mother, Phyllis Dasher of DeLand; a son, Chet Christian Elrod of Seattle; four brothers, Herb of Deltona, Bob of Huntsville, Ala., Holden of DeBary and Ray of Buffalo, Texas; two sisters, Linda Stone of Atlanta and Guen Yates of DeLand; and a grandson, Michael Elrod of Seattle.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida Inc., 1040 Woodcock Road, Suite 119, Orlando, FL 32803. Allen-Summerhill was in charge.

William Martin Cox
DELAND - William Martin Cox, 87, died Oct. 13, 1999, at a local care center.
Mr. Cox retired in the late 1970s as an employee of Rich's Department Store in Atlanta. He moved to DeLand from Atlanta in 1978.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of DeLand. He was an artist, working primarily in pastels, and an avid photographer.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillie Mae Patton Cox; two sons, H. Martin of Fort Myers and John R. (and his wife, Debra Brooks Cox) of DeLand; and two granddaughters, Emily S. and Chelsea C. Cox, both of DeLand.
Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 724 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand, FL 32720. Volusia County Cremation Society was in charge.

Mary Frances Deuyour
DELAND - Mary Frances Deuyour, 69, of Aquarius Avenue, died Oct. 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
Mrs. Deuyour retired as a bartender for Moose Lodge 1126 in DeLand after 13 years. Born in Lafayette, Ind., she moved to DeLand from Norfolk, Va., in 1979.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, helped with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed bingo.
Mrs. Deuyour is survived by her husband of 25 years, David C.; a son, Bart Norman of DeLand; four daughters, Barbara Brooks and Cindy Herner, both of DeLand, Charlene Byrket of Houston and Carla McQuire of Daytona Beach; two sisters, Louise Wilson of Lake Mary and Marie Nelson of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deltona Memorial was in charge.

Marie Mitchell Dugger
DELAND - Marie Mitchell Dugger, 91, of Torchwood Drive, died Oct. 30, 1999, at a local care center.
A homemaker, Mrs. Dugger was born in Harrisburg, Ill., and moved to this area in 1945 from East Alton, Ill.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Club, both in DeLand, and the Woman's Club of DeLand, and a charter member of the Sandspur Circle of the Garden Club of DeLand. She was also a member of the West Volusia Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, for whom she worked in the resale/thrift shop. She loved to cook and was famous for her pies. She made clothes for everyone in the family, and loved to fish for speckled perch on Lake Okeechobee and to play cards with friends.
Mrs. Dugger is survived by two sons, Donald Ray and Russell Odell, both of DeLand; a brother, Ray Mitchell of DeLand; a sister, Lucille Martyn of DeLand; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Allen-Summerhill was in charge.

Marion Elizabeth Dykes
DELAND - Marion Elizabeth Dykes, 72, of Montreville Avenue, died Oct. 26, 1999, at an area care center.
A homemaker, Ms. Dykes was born in Bartow and moved to this area 44 years ago from Colorado.
She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand.
Ms. Dykes is survived by two daughters, Theresa Springer of DeLand and April Feilding of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.

Ellen L. Ecola
DELAND - Ellen L. Ecola, 92, of Chipola Avenue, died Oct. 29, 1999, at Woodland Towers.
Mrs. Ecola retired as an executive secretary. Born in Paavola, Mich., she moved to this area in 1978 from Marquette, Mich.
She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Orange City and enjoyed her family.
Mrs. Ecola is survived by a son, the Rev. Dr. Leander of Orlando; two daughters, Susanna Trittschuh of DeLand and Katherine Haapanen of Wadsworth, Ill.; two sisters, Dorothy Ala of DeLand and Anan Kuivanen of Pelkie, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Suomi College, Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930. FourTowns Cremation was in charge.

Dorothy E. Golden
DELTONA - Dorothy E. Golden, 81, of Ludlum Drive, died Oct. 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
A homemaker, Mrs. Golden was born in Cleveland and moved to this area in 1980 from Garfield Heights, Ohio.
She was a member of Deltona Lakes Baptist Church. Her hobbies were sewing, crafts and oil painting.
Mrs. Golden is survived by her husband of 62 years, Julius G., and a daughter, Shirley A. Golden of Deltona.

Anna K. Haraburdo
DELTONA - Anna K. Haraburdo, 89, of Elkcam Boulevard, died Oct. 30, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare Deltona.
A homemaker, Mrs. Haraburdo was born in Morgantown, W.Va., and moved to this area in 1966 from Marysville, Ind.
She was Catholic.
Mrs. Haraburdo is survived by a son, Robert of Fort Myers, and two grandchildren.

Jeremy T. Hemby
ORANGE CITY - Jeremy T. Hemby, 7-year-old son of Thom and Michelle Hemby of Orange City, died Oct. 21, 1999, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Born in Orlando, Jeremy lived in this area all his life.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Deltona.
In addition to his parents, Jeremy is survived by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Jones of Mays Landing, N.J.; his paternal great-grandparents, John and Ruth Pfleger of Eustis; his maternal great-grandmother, Emma Solitaire of Pleasantville, N.J.; and his godmother, Barbara Diamond of Orange City.

Mary F. Jennings
DELTONA - Mary F. Jennings, 57, of Loretto Court, died Oct. 28, 1999, at DeBary Manor Nursing Home.
Ms. Jennings was self-employed as a home nurse. Born in Gleason, Tenn., she moved to this area in August from Madisonville, Ky., where she had lived for 15 years.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in New Hampshire. She loved animals and enjoyed fishing and bingo.
Ms. Jennings is survived by a son, Arthur Smith of Exeter, N.H.; three daughters, Wendy Pettit of Deltona, Melody Grout of Raymond, N.H., and Laura Marshall of Holly Hill; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
FourTowns Cremation was in charge.

Alice E. Kennard
DELTONA - Alice E. Kennard, 87, of East Hancock Drive, died Oct. 31, 1999, at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.
A homemaker, Mrs. Kennard was born in Greenville, Pa., and moved to this area in 1972 from Arlington, Va.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Deltona and the national and local Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Mrs. Kennard is survived by a daughter, Roberta McQuown of Deltona, a sister, Emily Hinkson of Penndel, Pa., seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Adele M. Kucera
ORANGE CITY - Adele M. Kucera, 72, of Daley Street, died Oct. 29, 1999, at her home.
A homemaker, Mrs. Kucera was born in Central Islip, N.Y., and moved to this area 23 years ago from Long Island, N.Y.
She is survived by a son, Cmdr. Walter of Orange City, a daughter, Jean Kolb of Raleigh, N.C., a brother, Edward Stastny of Edgewater, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Blanche O. Lavoie
DELAND - Blanche O. Lavoie, 80, of Whisper Boulevard, died Oct. 27, 1999, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
A homemaker, Mrs. Lavoie was born in Augusta, Maine, and moved to this area in 1984 from New Gloucester, Maine.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand, the Ladies League of Whisperwood and the Mixed League, both of which are golf courses at Whisperwood, and the Poland Spring (Maine) Golf Course.
Mrs. Lavoie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Henry, a daughter, Diane Dubois of Poland Spring, and five grandchildren.

Dovie Clema Marlow
DELAND - Dovie Clema Marlow, 98, of Cooter Pond Road, died Nov. 1, 1999, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
A homemaker, Mrs. Marlow was born in Tora, Ill., and moved to this area in 1984.
She was Baptist. An avid sportswoman, she loved hunting, fishing, horseback riding, as well as gardening, house painting, driving, walking on the beach and collecting blue crabs.
Mrs. Marlow is survived by a son, Arthur K. "Art", a daughter, Colleen E. Marlow Harden of Fort Myers, a sister, Bessie Donnell of Campbell Hill, Ill., six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Benny C. Poe
DELAND - Benny C. Poe, 78, of Seventh Avenue, died Oct. 28, 1999, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in DeLand.
Mr. Poe retired as an employee of U.S. Steel in Morrisville, Pa., after 25 years. Born in Chilton County, Ala., he moved to DeLand in 1995 from Bristol, Pa.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand.
Mr. Poe served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from July 30, 1942, until Nov. 29, 1945. He received the American Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Antenetta; two daughters, Rose Marie Campbell of Indiana and Florence Poe of DeLand; four brothers, Paul of Interlachen, June of Columbiana, Ala., David of Wilsonville, Ala., and Jim of Selma, Ala.; two sisters, Virginia Hughes of Columbiana and Rebecca Unijohn of Williamstown, N.J.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Allen-Summerhill was in charge.

Samuel Baxter Proctor Jr.
DELAND - Samuel Baxter Proctor Jr., 75, of North Stone Street, died Oct. 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
Mr. Proctor retired as an air-freight worker for Eastern Airlines in Daytona Beach after 32 years. Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., he moved to this area 26 years ago from Miami.
He was a member of Blake Memorial Baptist Church in Lake Helen.
Mr. Proctor served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his companion, Dorothy Cook; two daughters, Judi Collins of Graham and Leslie K. Seeds of DeLeon Springs; a brother, Robert L. of Forest City, N.C.; two sisters, Margaret Camby of Rutherfordton and Betty Jean Cochrran of Forest City; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Josephine L. Serpe
DELTONA - Josephine L. Serpe, 78, of East Cooper Drive, died Oct. 27, 1999, at Mariner Health of Orange City.
A homemaker, Mrs. Serpe was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1985 from Orlando, where she had lived for six years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona and the Sons of Italy. She enjoyed sewing and doing Italian cooking.
Mrs. Serpe is survived by a son, Leonard of Deltona, a daughter, Donna Serpe of Miami Beach, and four grandchildren.

Alan W. Sparks
DELTONA - Alan W. Sparks, 72, of Dorchester Drive, died Oct. 25, 1999, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
Mr. Sparks retired as an electrical engineer for IBM Corp. after more than 33 years. Born in Westfield, N.Y., he moved to this area in 1990 from Raleigh, N.C.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Karen Sparks Mellon of Wallingford, Conn., and Janice Sparks of Kingston, N.Y.; a brother, Richard D. of Deltona; a sister, Patricia R. Ryan of Palm Coast; and two granddaughters.
