Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joseph Paul Greene Sr.
Joseph Paul Greene Sr., 77, of Fairdale, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, following a short illness.
Born at Bowers Ridge, Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Huey Greene and Rebecca Pendry Greene.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elva Mullins Greene; and a brother, Merlin H. Greene.
Mr. Greene was a coal miner, having last worked for Consol Coal Co. in Itmann.
He loved fishing and hunting.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Gloria Milam and husband, Denver, of Fairdale; a son, Joseph Paul Greene Jr. and wife, Bonnie, of Spotsylvania, Va.; a sister, Dicie Woods of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, Joseph Paul Greene III and wife, Jennifer, Jason Ray Greene and wife, Nicole, Rachel Caroline Milam and Rebecca Michelle Milam; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Sue Greene and Keldon Alexander Greene.
In keeping with Mr. Greene's wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no service.

Wayne M. Herold
SUMMERSVILLE - Wayne M. Herold, 74, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at his home.
He was the son of the late Millard and Wille Alderson Herold and was born in Summersville on May 27, 1929.
He was a graduate of Nicholas County High School and Morris Harvey Business School in Charleston. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Tokyo, Japan, during the Korean War, where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Fritzie Homewood.
Wayne was the manager and owner of Herold & Herold Hardware and Furniture Store located on Main Street in Summersville. He was a Little League baseball coach, a member of the VFW, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Order of the Moose and Memorial United Methodist Church in Summersville.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Dare Herold, Wanda Alderson Herold and Wilma Herold Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Frances "Fritzie" Herold; three daughters, Patty Hughes and husband, Mike, of Summers-ville, Sue DiAntonio and husband, Steve, of Clifton, Va., and Nita Quantrille and husband, Jim, of Oakton, Va.; a son, Wayne Porter Herold and wife, Cheryl, of Waynesboro, Pa.; eight grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Hughes, Nicole and Christopher DiAntonio, Kevin and Mark Quantrille, and Taylor and Megan Herold; and two sisters, Mildred C. Davis of Charleston and Vivian H. O'Dell of Milton.
Private graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Walker Memorial Park, Summersville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville.

Denny Eugene 'Gene' Lipps
LEWISBURG - Denny Eugene "Gene" Lipps, 82, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born June 25, 1921, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Denny D. and Virginia White Lipps.
Mr. Lipps was a self-employed painting contractor, an avid gardener and loved to share his produce with friends and neighbors. He was a World War II Naval pilot and enjoyed flying. He graduated from Lewisburg High School where he was president of his Junior and Senior class. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the American Legion of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam David Lipps; and a sister, Millie Newman.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Burdette Lipps; a daughter, Donna Virginia Lipps of Lewisburg; a son, David Eugene Lipps and wife, Blair, of Eustis, Fla.; a grandson, Matthew James Lipps; a sister, Jerri Burdette of Beckley; three nephews, Larry Burdette, Danny Burdette and Rob Burdette; and two nieces, Rebecca Ann and Christy Columbo.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary United Method-ist Church with the Rev. Paul Suttle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before service Friday at the church.
Following the service, a "Precious Memories" session will be held in the church fellowship hall with friends and relatives sharing fond memories of Eugene.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Calvary Church Cemetery Association.

FAYETTEVILLE - Our beloved mother and grandmother, Virginia Luella Skaggs O'Dell, 81, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at her home following a long illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1921, at Horseshoe, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie Skaggs.
Mrs. O'Dell was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Albert O'Dell; a son, Arlin Dale O'Dell; and two sisters, Velma McGuire and Hallie Lightner.
Survivors include three sons, Darrell O'Dell and wife, Rose Lee, of Victor, Wayne O'Dell and wife, Tammy, of Fayetteville and Laird O'Dell and wife, Candy, of Hico; five daughters, Ina Hellms and husband, Shirley, of Canvas, Delpha Bennett and husband, John, of Fayetteville, Rosanna Treadway of Fayetteville, Dreama Carte and husband, Galen, of Fayetteville and Tresha Plumley and husband, Jim, of Fayetteville; a sister, Oma Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; two half sisters, Lela Canterbury of Clendenin and Lisa Davis of Oak Hill; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Lorene Holcomb of Fayetteville.

OAK HILL - Walter Page, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at his home following a long illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1919, in Clifty, Tenn., he was the son of the late Ed and Ova Rackley Page.
Mr. Page served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and then was a coal miner for 43 years. He was a member, elder and choir member of Summerlee Presbyterian Church, having served on the Summerlee Reunion Committee and Summerlee Work Camp.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Agnes, Pauline, Helen and Arlie; and two brothers, Robert and W.M. Page.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 63 years, Beatrice Berry Page; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Craft of Springfield, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Linda Page of Georgetown, Ky.; a brother, Jerry Page of Summerlee; grandchildren, Brian and Tammy Craft of Ivor, Va., Christie and David Wilder of Fort Rucker, Ala., Stephen and Olivia Page of Georgetown, Ky., and Cari and Rick Merson of Dunkirk, Md.; great-grandchildren, Joseph Hardy, Brandon Patty Tyler Page, Brian Craft Jr. and John Walter Craft; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wint H. "Bill" Price, 74, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, following a short illness.
Born Feb. 13, 1929, at Meadow Creek, he was the son of the late Hobert and Myrtle Price.
Mr. Price proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver for the Department of Highways and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila M. Hicks Price; and three brothers, Carl Calvin Price, Harry Price and Hobert Price Jr.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Ramona Rump of Delaware, Greg Price and wife, Chae, of Beckley and Rhonda Withrow and husband, Hal, of Beckley; three sisters, Pansy Weikle of Beckley, Phyllis Lively of Alabama and Glenna Williams of Flint, Mich.; six grandchildren, Michael Rump Jr., Megan Rump, Brandon Price, Derek Price, Kevin Price and Gregory Withrow; and two great-granddaughters.

Freddy Ray Sims
TRUE - Freddy Ray Sims, 69, died suddenly at his home Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003.
Born April 28, 1934, at Ballengee, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Elsa Faye Surber Sims.
He was a lifelong resident of Summers County.
Freddy was a retired maintenance worker at Pipestem State Park and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Sims and Bill Sims.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lillian Farley Sims; a daughter, Donna Rae Ball and husband, Monty, of Pipestem; a granddaughter, Karly Brianne Ball of Pipestem; and two sisters, Mildred Ziemba of Tacoma, Wash., and Hilda Nelson of Glenwood Park.
Service will be 11 a.m. today at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Ballengee.

Wayne E. Sunderland
Wayne E. Sunderland (U.S. Air Force, retired chief warrant officer) passed away at the age of 86 on Monday, Oct. 13, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha "Mae" Bazzie Sunderland (U.S. Air Force, retired lieutenant colonel). They married on Nov. 10, 1956, and had no children.
He is also survived by his brother, Neil Sunderland; three nephews; four great-nephews; five great-nieces; and two great-great-nieces.
His service in the Air Force as a weather forecaster and covered tours in England, Germany, Japan and many islands in the Pacific as a weather coordinator for the region.
He was a member of Sun Tree Methodist Church, Melbourne, Fla.
Wayne was recognized as a witty, kind, gracious and generous person who continued to make himself available to friends and family members. His presence will be sadly missed.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Stephen Rector and Susan Rector officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Blanchey Lee Toler
BRENTON - Blanchey Lee Toler, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at her residence following a long illness.
Born Sept. 6, 1910, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mariah Carter Hall.
Mrs. Toler was a homemaker and a resident of Wyoming County since childhood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Toler, in 1991.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruby Lyons of Brenton, Brenda Toler of Mill Creek and Melinda Toler of Mill Creek; a son, Donald Toler of Mill Creek; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Me-morial Gardens, Matheny.

Charles 'Charlie' Wiseman
RAVENSWOOD - Charles "Charlie" William Wiseman, 54, formerly of Beckley, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at his home after a brave year of battling colon cancer, with his sisters, Elizabeth Wiseman and Barbara Martin, and his caregiver, Sherry McCoy, by his side.
Born Aug. 6, 1949, at Pinch, he was the son of the late Fred Wiseman and Bessie Luenette Lewis Wiseman.
Charles served in the Army with an honorable discharge and was of the Baptist faith. He recently retired from the hotel and motel business with 35 years of service. His recent work was at the Hampton Inn in Beckley where he made many special friends whom he will miss very much. Special thanks to his dearest and caring friends for their support and prayers during his time of need. Charles' wish was to be cremated. Charles will be sadly missed by many, many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred "Hopper" Wiseman III, Ronald, Donald and Larry Wayne; and sister-in-law, Linda Carol Wiseman.
Survivors include three brothers, Jacob "Mike" and his wife, Nancy, of Coal River, Forrest Rodney and his wife, Judy, and Richard and his wife, Angie, of Pinch; three sisters, Barbara Martin of Monroe, N.C., Elizabeth Wiseman of Ravenswood and Donna Blackwell of Pinch; several nieces and nephews; cousins; a special Aunt Geraldine, caregiver, Sherry McCoy of Ra-venswood, and companion, Will Baber of Beckley; and sister-in-law, Ada Jane Wiseman.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Flatwoods United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phil Scarberry officiating. Burial will be private.

HILLDALE - Donnie Frances Ward Brookman, 58, of Hilldale, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a long illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1945, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Geneva Ward Bennett.
Mrs. Brookman was a lifelong resident of Summers County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean "Wimpie" Brookman, on Feb. 12, 2002; a brother, Charles Ward; and an infant sister.
Survivors include a son, Mark Roberts of Hilldale; a daughter, Missy "Blitzie" Sluss and husband, Tim, of Hilldale; two grandsons, Timmy Sluss of Hilldale and Khance Roberts of White Oak; four sisters, Tammy Fortner of Wayside, Emma McCommas of Big Creek, Wanda Blagg of Pennsylvania and Nadine Teabo of Hilldale; a brother, Richard Ward of Kingsman, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Peterstown Cemetery.

Ruth O. Hall
Ruth O. Hall, 71, of Terry, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, following a long illness.
Born May 16, 1932, at Concho, she was the daughter of the late John Foster and Anna (Harris) Foster Clifford.
Mrs. Hall served her community as the former postmaster at Terry for 25 years. She also worked at Beckley Manufacturing for 10 years and worked at Southern West Virginia Clinic in the housekeeping department. She was a member of Terry Independent Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Shirley Foster, Benny Foster and Pete Cheslock.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband, Billy Hall Sr.; her children, Billy Hall Jr. and wife, Donna, of Crab Orchard, Lucy Henson and husband, Phillip, of Beckley, Jerry Hall of Terry and Lana Ames and husband, Samuel, of Terry; a brother, James Foster of Beckley; six grandchildren, Billy Hall III, Sharmyn Stutler, Michelle Griffin, Heather MacDonald, Jerry Hall II and Phillip Henson II; 16 great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Leona Biggs of Matheny.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Revs. Gene Hall and Lonnie Grear officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

RURAL HALL, N.C. - Goldie Bowman Lambert, 83, formerly of Pineville, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at her residence.
Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Wytheville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Rosie Hawks Bowman.
Mrs. Lambert attended Pentecostal Church of God, was retired from the Wyoming County Board of Education and enjoyed quilting and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frederick Lambert; two sons, Billy and Charles Lambert; a sister; and two brothers.
Survivors include four sons, Russell Lambert of Alachua, Fla., Ronald Lambert and wife, Joyce, of Elmore, Ala., Thomas Lambert and wife, Shirley, of Glenville, Ga., and Kenneth Lambert of Indian Trail, N.C.; two daughters, Hazel Jackson and husband, Leroy, of Rural Hall and Kathy Cook and husband, John, of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Sylvia Steele of Brenton, Blanche Beverly of Newberry, Fla., and Thelma Leasure of White Plains, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Revs. Raymond Bishop and Tommy Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
The family will receive friends one hour before service Sunday at the funeral home.
