William H. Rishel, 69, of 96 Tobacco Shed Road, Lock Haven, died Monday May 6, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care.
Born July 22, 1932 in Loganton, he was a son of Dorothy R. Confer Rishel of Lock Haven and the late Jonathan L. Rishel Sr.
He married Linda K. Shaffer Rishel on Feb. 17, 1978. She survives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Edward Erb officiating. Interment will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The family will provide flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA, St. Luke’s Church or Haneyville Baptist Church.

Foster M. Gunsallus Jr.
Foster M. Gunsallus Jr., 65, of 335 Center St., Lock Haven, died Monday, May 6, 2002 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born in Lock Haven on Feb. 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Foster M. Gunsallus Sr. and Lydia Duffield Gunsallus. His wife, Peg Long Gunsallus, died in 1996.
Burial and services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being made by the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.

Robert McCoy
Robert Spencer McCoy, 77, of Middletown, formerly of Ft. Pierce, Fla,. died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at his home.
He was born on April 10, 1925 in Lock Haven to the late George and Dorothy Mapstone McCoy.
He and his wife, Eris M. Huntsinger McCoy, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Feb. 16, 2002. She survives.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being made by the Frank E. Matincheck and Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church, Spring and Union streets, Middletown, Pa. 17057. or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 301 N. Union St., Middletown, Pa. 17057.

Mabel A. Coffey
Mabel A. Coffey, 90, of 17 Lenape Trail, Lock Haven, passed away May 5, 2002 in the Health Care Center at Washington, Washington Township, N.J. She had been in failing health since the first of this year.
Mabel was born in Kane, Pa., and had lived most of her life in Lock Haven.
She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Alma Johanassan Vanerstrom and the beloved wife of the late Clarence R. Coffey, who died April 10, 1970.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael W. Abernathy of the First Church of Christ, Lock Haven. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Dunnstable Township. Friends will be received in the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home.

Cecilia K. Ward
Cecilia K. Ward, 72, of 25 S. Highland St., Lock Haven, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
She was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Bellefonte, the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Yerger Kane. On July 3, 1952, in Harrisburg, she married James F. Ward, who survives.
The funeral mass will be Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel J. O’Neill officiating. Friends will be received in the Moriarty-Dutcavich Funeral Home, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil for the deceased at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Sara E. Frye
Sara E. Frye, 89, of 315 Main St., Mill Hall, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, in Susque-View Home, Lock Haven.
Born May 11, 1912 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of John Estes and was raised by William and Mable Mauck.
She married Kenneth L. Frye on May 21, 1936 in Jersey Shore. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1977.
Services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, May 7, in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall. The Rev. Ellen Evans of the Mill Hall United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the patient activities fund of the Susque-View Home in care of the funeral home.

Elaine W. Walters
Elaine W. Walters, 73, of Aaronsburg, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 in the Centre Community Hospital, State College.
Born Dec. 1, 1928 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alice Wadsworth Eichenlaub.
She married Nevin S. Walters on Feb. 5, 1947 in Hagerstown, Md. He survives.
Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Aaronsburg, with the Rev. Chester Marshall officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 4 p.m. Saturday until the time of services. Burial will be in the Reformed Cemetery, Aaronsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters United Church of Christ in care of the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St., Millheim, PA 16854.

Florence M. Stecker Wasson
Florence M. Stecker Wasson, 80, of Lock Haven, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at her home.
She was born Jan. 29, 1922 in Mt. Carmel, a daughter of the late Charles and Helena Cheslock Stecker.
She was married to Hilaire G. Wasson. He preceded her in death March 13, 2001.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 6 at 11 a.m. in Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to East Main Street United Methodist Church, 507 E. Main St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 in her memory.

Benjamin L. Katherman
Mr. Benjamin L. Katherman, 68, of 878 Hollow Road, Lock Haven, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at his home.
Born Sept. 26, 1933 in Laurelton, he was the son of Charles Katherman and the former Margaret Case.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy L. Brouse. They were united in marriage May 14, 1955.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, May 5, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Heather Baker will officiate.

Kermit W. Kerstetter
Kermit W. Kerstetter, 87, of 106 Campground Road, Loganton, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at ManorCare, Jersey Shore.
Born March 17, 1915 in Booneville, he was the son of the late George W. and Mayme Weaver Kerstetter.
He married his wife, Arline Smith Kerstetter, Dec. 9, 1939. She survives.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Main and Water streets, Loganton. Pastor Kay Schwab will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity United Methodist Cemetery, Greenburr. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, Loganton, PA 17747.

Adam Francis Sampsell
Adam Francis Sampsell, 21, of 16278 E. Tennessee Ave., Aurora, Colo., entered into eternal life April 16, 2002, in Colorado.
Born in Lock Haven on Nov. 12, 1980, he was the son of Eric R. Sampsell and Christine Vogel Sampsell, both survive.
A "Celebration of Life" memorial was held in Colorado for friends and family.

Elaine W. Walters, 74, of Aaronsburg, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 in the Centre Community Hospital, State College.

Earl R. Probst Sr., 96, of Oak Hollow, Lock Haven, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Dec. 3, 1905 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late William and Sarah Keffer Probst.
His wife, the former Emma Ruth Helbley, preceded him in death in 1990.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 3, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. in Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, with the Rev. Marie E. Lewis officiating. Friends will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Fredrick Russell Hoy
Fredrick Russell Hoy, 72, of Long Run Road, Mill Hall, died Tuesday night, April 30, 2002 in the Lock Haven Hospital Emergency Room.
Born March 8, 1930 in Mill Hall, he was the son of John and Myrtle Bolopue Hoy.
He married Grace Page Lachat on Dec. 18, 1986, she survives.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with an Elks memorial service at 8:30 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 5th Ranger Company, in care of the funeral home.

Jane Merrell Ostrom Barnum
Jane Merrell Ostrom Barnum, 85, of 704 Ontario Ave., Renovo, died Monday, April 29, 2002 in Bucktail Medical Center’s extended care.
Born Nov. 20, 1916 in Renovo, she was a daughter of the late Raymond James Ostrom and Geraldine Lau Ostrom.
She married Charles T. Barnum Jr., April 14, 1941 in Baltimore, Md.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Renovo Area Library, Seventh Street, Renovo, Pa. 17764.

Shirley M. McCloskey
Shirley M. McCloskey, 68, of 115 N. Grove St., Lock Haven, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born May 19, 1933 in Rochester, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Bennett and Edmond Rafter.
Her husband, Allen David McCloskey, preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1999.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2002 at 7 p.m. in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gloria S. Spiece
Gloria S. Spiece, 65, of 502 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, formerly of Mechanicsburg and Loganton, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 in Centre Crest Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 1, 1937 in Loganton, she was the daughter of the late Cleston P. Albright and Dorothy Miller Albright.
Her husband, Donald R. Spiece, preceded her in death in September 2001.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Main and Water streets, Loganton, with Pastor Ken Geisewite officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Shirley M. McCloskey, 68, of 115 N. Grove St., Lock Haven, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.

John Martin (Marty) Johnson
John Martin (Marty) Johnson, 76, of R.R. 1 McElhattan, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 in the Williamsport Hospital. He had been in failing health and had entered the hospital April 15.
Mr. Johnson was born in Wayne Township, Clinton County, May 31, 1925 and was the son of the late William C. And Lottie Quiggle Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, Pa. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Riley of the Flemington First Church of Christ. Interment will be in Linnwood Cemetery, Wayne Township, Clinton County. Friends will be received in the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the services. Memorials are requested to the Williamsport Hospital Foundation through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home.

Hazel Mae Kulp Boone
Hazel Mae Kulp Boone, born Aug. 25, 1933, died in her Loganton home April 28, 2002, following an extended illness.
She is survived by Daniel M. Boone, her husband of 50 years.
Hazel was the daughter of Chester Franklin and Ardena Ruth Heltman Kulp of Loganton. She was born in R.D. Loganton and attended elementary school in Sugar Valley. She graduated from Williamsport High School n 1951. She and Daniel Boone were married on Jan. 18, 1952 in the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren by Rev. John C. Boone, Daniel’s father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, 1690 E. Winter Road, Loganton, Pa. 17747.
Friends and loved ones will be received at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Loganton, Tuesday, April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 in the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren in Eastville, Pa., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ken Geisewite officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

William H. Graff, 72, of 2001 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at home.
William was born July 5, 1929 in Williamsport. He was the son of Raymond and Elizabeth Mitsdarfer Graff. His wife, Norma Jean Graff, died April 3, 2000.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, May 3, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 2111 Linn St., with his brother, Rev. Robert Graff, officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Joseph V. Burne III, 84, of 28 Linnet Lane, Lock Haven, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born March 15, 1918 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Elsie Mae and Joseph V. Burne II.
He and his wife, Emma Louise Heverly Burne, were married Sept. 4, 1953. She survives.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745, with the Rev. Ellen Evans officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Jean A. Smith, 73, of 182 Circle Drive, Lock Haven, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Feb. 11, 1929 in Woolrich, she was the daughter of the late Guyer and Mary Delila Frank Duff.
A 1947 graduate of Lock Haven High School, she worked at Sylvania in Mill Hall before she and Gerald D. Smith were married, on June 7, 1952, he survives.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002 in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745, with the Rev. Marie Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Liberty United Methodist Church.

Walter R. Plants, 59, of 1444 Youngdale Road, Lock Haven, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 in Williamsport Hospital.
He was born in Washington, Pa., on Nov. 27, 1942, a son of the late Robert A. and Dorothy L. Shetler Plants.
Memorial services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002 in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745. The Rev. Ellen Evans will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Walter D. Keeler
Walter D. Keeler, 80, of 3327 Rauchtown Road, Jersey Shore, died Friday, April 26, 2002 in the Jersey Shore Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1921 in Oriole, a son of Walter E. Keeler and the former Clella LaPointe.
He is survived by his wife, the former Minerva J. Wolfe. They were united in marriage Nov. 20, 1942.
Private family services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
