Hazel R. Bowes, 88, of Jersey Shore, formerly of Howard, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in ManorCare Health Services, Jersey Shore.
Born Aug. 28, 1913 in Swissdale, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Sarah Keiffer Helbley.
She was married to Thomas M. “Mac” Bowes. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Howard United Church of Christ, East Main Street, Howard. Rev. Dale L. Sattizahn will officiate. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. A Rebekah service will be at 8:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Howard United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 518, Howard, Pa. 16841.

Rev. William L. Claghorn
Rev. William L. Claghorn, 78, of Lima, formerly of Drexel Hill, died April 4, 2002, in Kennedy Hospital Stratford Division in New Jersey.
Rev. Claghorn was the husband of the late Ruth (nee Arovitch) Claghorn who died in 1997. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Riverview Presbyterian Church, Riverview Avenue and Garrett Road, Drexel Hill. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Cold Springs Cemetery, Cold Springs, N.J.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Plymouth Meeting Mall, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. 19462. Arrangements are under the direction of the Toppitzer Funeral Home, Drexel Hill.

Dorothy M. Gaudiose, 84, of 344 W. Water St., Lock Haven, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

Ernest E. Bechtol, 79, of 131 Spruce St., Pleasant Gap, died at 4:45 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2002, in his home.
Born Aug. 25, 1922 in Mill Hall, he was the son of the late George and Della Allen Bechtol.
He was married to Virginia Harvey Bechtol in 1940 in North Carolina. She died in Sept. of 1999.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wetzler Funeral Service, Bellefonte.

Roberta A. ‘Birdie’ Piotrowski Rauch
Robert A. “Birdie” Piotrowski Rauch, 69, of Morrisdale, a former resident of Mill Hall; died at 3:35 p.m., April 4, 2002, in TLC Manor, Brisbin.
Born Feb. 17, 1933 in Rush Township, Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Davey Chelton.
She was married to Gust Piotrowski. He preceded her in death in 1962.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Strange and Weaver Home for Funerals, Deer Creek Road, Morrisdale. Rev. Larry W. Gerdes will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Forest. Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Central Pa. Chapter, P.O. Box 668, Camp Hill, Pa. 17001.

Marian F. Glennon
Former Jersey Shore resident, Marian Fineron Glennon, died March 27, 2002, at her home in Merion, near Philadelphia.
Born March 4, 1907 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late George Fineron and Blanche Clarke.
She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in the class of 1926, and married Paul J. Glennon on March 1, 1930 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Jersey Shore.
Condolences will be received by the family at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Jersey Shore, at 12:30 p.m., Monday, April 8, one hour before the Funeral Mass scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Graveside services at the Jersey Shore Cemetery will immediately follow the church service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.

Gerson C. Royer
Gerson C. Royer, 86, of Mill Hall, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in his home.
He was born May 23, 1915 in Mill Hall, a son of the late Hoyt and Lillian Zeigler Royer.
He was married to Kathryn C. Albright on June 10, 1936 at St. Paul’s Church in Mill Hall. She survives at home.
Surviving is a daughter, Margaret Ann Matter of Mill Hall; a son, John E. Royer of Mill Hall; two sisters, Violet Muthler of Mill Hall and Arlena Brickley of Lock Haven; two half-brothers, Max Phillips of Mill Hall and Lee Phillips of Dunnstown; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. Rev. Eric Deibler will officiate. Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in care of the Neff Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Howard, Pa. 16841.

Jack R. Taylor
Jack R. Taylor, 78, of 8 S. Laurel Lane, Lock Haven, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at the Williamsport Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1923 in Salona, the son of the late Harry M. and Florence Riegel Taylor.
He was preceded in death by a companion Ethel Hunter.
Memorial services will be Sunday, April 14, 2002, at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Clarence E. Korman, 94, of Bellefonte, died Tuesday, April 2.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Ellie Weaver.
Friends will be received at the Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and for a half-hour prior to the service Friday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hublersburg or to the Walker Township Fire Company.

Leah M. Royer
Leah Mildred Royer, 85, of 424 S. Highland St., Lock Haven, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in the Susque-View nursing home.
She was born Oct. 16, 1916 in Glen Union, the daughter of the late Earle and Bessie Shearer Shady.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 35 Bellefonte Ave., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745.

Helen Louise Peasley
Memorial services for Helen Louise Peasley, 89, formerly of the Rich Manor, Woolrich, who died April 1, 2002, in Susque-View nursing home, will be 1 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2002, in the Woolrich Community United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Norman Evans of the church. Private burial will be at Highland Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, Lock Haven.

Cynthia A. Schall, 47, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in the 2624 Dove St. Group Home in Williamsport.
Born Oct. 12, 1954 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of Stanley L. Schall and the former Barbara A. Ferry.
Her father and stepmother Ethel L. Schall of Jersey Shore, survive. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara A. Schall, on Jan. 30, 1993.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 5, 2002, at 10 a.m., in the Church of St. Luke, 120 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. There will be a prayer vigil service Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Father Andrew Hvozdovic will officiate. Contributions may be made in her name to Hope Enterprises, 136 Catawissa St., Box 1837, Williamsport, Pa. 17701.

Dale Leslie Askins Sr.
Dale Leslie Askins Sr., 61, of 213 Ray Road, Piedmont, S.C., died Monday, April 1, 2002, in St. Francis Hospital.
He was the husband of Constance Latterman Askins, she survives.
He was born in Lock Haven, a son of the late Carson and Annie May Klinefelter Askins.
The family will receive friends at Reedy Fork Baptist Church on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m., with the funeral service following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, is in charge of arrangements.

Norman E. White
Norman E. White, 86, residing at 15333 Johns Lake Road, Clermont, Fla., passed away at his home, March 27, 2002, where he was under the care of his family and the local hospice chapter.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1915 in Jersey Shore, where he graduated from Jersey Shore High School.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethel White, formerly of Jersey Shore.

May L. Pletcher
May L. Pletcher, 86, of Howard, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in her home.
Born Oct. 12, 1915 in Howard Township, she was the daughter of the late Albert B. and Nancy Schenck Coder.
She was married to Paul “Tony” S. Pletcher on Feb. 28, 1954 in the Hunter Run Church in Howard. He preceded her in death in September of 1994.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Main Street United Methodist Church, Howard. The Rev. David Trostle will officiate. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church, Main Street, Howard, Pa. 16841.

Clarence E. Korman, 94, of Bellefonte, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Centre Community Hospital.

Helen Louise Peasley, 89, formerly of the Rich Manor, Woolrich, died April 1, 2002, in the Susque-View nursing home in Lock Haven, after having entered the home Feb. 5, 2002.
She was born in Lock Haven, Aug. 31, 1912, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Ruhl Bryon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Peasley, who died April 7, 1980.
Private graveside memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. The arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the donor’s favorite charity through the funeral home.

Bernice L. Garman
Mrs. Bernice L. Garman, 72, of 1141 Pine Creek Ave., Jersey Shore, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Sept. 8, 1929 in Greenburr, she was the daughter of Charles N. Lamey and the former Elsie Confer.
She was united in marriage June 22, 1947 to Foster Henry Lee Garman. He preceded her in death May 16, 1985.
Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

Hayes C. Probst
Hayes C. Probst, 77, of 68 Cider Press Road, Lock Haven, died Sunday, March 31, 2002 in the Williamsport Hospital ICU. He had been in failing health and had entered the hospital on Thursday.
He was born in Lock Haven, April 25, 1924, the son of the late Emanuel and Louisa Rader Probst.
Mr. Probst was united in marriage Jan, 5, 1950 to Dorothy Monro Probst, who preceded him in death Aug. 1, 2000.
Funeral services for Hayes C. Probst will be held Thursday, April 4, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Marie Lewis of the Swissdale United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Swissdale Cemetery. Friends will be received in the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Swissdale United Methodist Church.

G. Henry McCormick
G. Henry McCormick, 85, of Ames, Iowa, a former area resident, died at his winter home in Mesa Ariz., on Wednesday, March 27, 2002.
He was born in Allenwood on Oct. 7, 1916, a son of the late George L. and Clara Mae Sypher McCormick.
He married the former Louise M. Martin, Jan. 1, 1984. They recently celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary, she survives.
Funeral services will be at Washington Presbyterian Church in Allenwood, Wednesday, April 3, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 201, Allenwood, Pa. 17810; Salvation Army, 119 E. Church St., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745; or your favorite charity.

Josephine M. McGill, 80, of 5 Third St., Mill Hall, died March 27, 2002, in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born July 19, 1921 in Bakerton, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Cole Mitchell.
She was married to Charles C. McGill Jr. on March 28, 1947. They would have celebrated their 55th anniversary today. He survives.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. The Rev. Michael Abernathy will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight in the funeral home.

Ann Sandra Rockey, 61, born March 1, 1941 in Mill Hall, daughter of the late Ray and Marla Stevenson, died March 27, 2002 at 2:20 p.m.
Mrs. Rockey graduated from Bald Eagle-Nittany High School in 1959.
Mrs. Rockey was married to Clovis E. Rockey on April 23, 1960, who survives. Services will be at the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Howard on Friday, March 29, 2002, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to The Walnut Street Church of Christ, 367 Walnut St., P.O. Box 465, Howard, Pa. 16841. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service at the church.
W. Robert Neff Funeral Home in Howard is handling the arrangements.

Josephine M. McGill, 80, of 5 Third St., Mill Hall, died March 27, 2002, in Lock Haven Hospital.

Christopher Murray Tetanich Jr., infant son of Christopher Murray Tetanich Sr. and Danielle Maines of 3152 Brookside Lane, Lock Haven, died March 26, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Private funeral services will be Thursday, March 28, 2002, at 10 a.m., in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Celebrant will be Father Daniel O’Neill of the Immaculate Church in Lock Haven.

Bertha C. Powers
Bertha Caroline Powers, 94, formerly of 360 E. Park St., Kephart Plaza, Lock Haven, died March 26, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit, where she had been a resident for the last four years.
She was born Jan. 1, 1908 in Pine Glen, Centre County, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Force Hahn. She had attended Bernside Township School.
She wed Nevin C. Fulger and resided in Rote until his death in 1967. She later married Boyd Powers Sr. They also resided in Rote, until his death in 1971.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
