Lyric Nicole Osborn, 17 months, of Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Children’s Mercy Hospital, after a bout with Neuroblastoma.
Lyric is survived by her parents, Johnny and Angela Osborn of Kansas City, Mo. Memorial services were held Friday, Oct. 5, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Fletcher W. Smith
Fletcher W. Smith, 81, of Loganton, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in Williamsport Hospital.
Born Aug. 16, 1920 in Jersey Shore, he was a son of the late William Lance and Flora Belle Gorman Smith.
On Sept. 13, 1941, in a ceremony performed by Rev. Arthur Yeagy, he married Theora Embick Smith of Loganton. She survives.
Funeral services were today at 1 p.m. in the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren in Eastville. Interment will be in the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friends visited from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the F. B. Welker Funeral Home, Loganton. A Lions service was at 8 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, 2290 E. Winter Road., Loganton, PA. 17747.

Earl C. Dotterer
Earl Calvin Dotterer, 89, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Centre Crest Nursing Home.
Born March 26, 1912 in Clinton County, he was the son of the late Beza Calvin and Florence E. Clymer Dotterer.
He was married to Pearl I. Deitrich on June 9, 1972 in the Trinity United Church of Christ, Howard. She survives at home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, in the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hublersburg. The Revs. John S. Hench and Marjorie Holland will officiate. Burial will be in Hublersburg Cemetery, Walker Township. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, and one hour prior to services Tuesday in the church, with a Grange memorial service at 8:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Centre Crest Auxiliary, 502 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, Pa. 16823.

William J. Koch Sr.
William J. Koch Sr., 86, of 940 Little Plum Run Road, Lock Haven, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in the Lock Haven Hospital Emergency Room, after being stricken at his residence.
Mr. Koch was born Jan. 27, 1915 in Lock Haven, the son of the late Werner W. and Irene Muthler Koch. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Mrs. Carrie Mae Bierly Koch.
On Feb. 25, 1933, he was united in marriage to Ruth Styers. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1999.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Abernathy of the Lock Haven First Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends will be received in the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clinton County SPCA through the funeral home.

Reba S. Phillips
Reba S. Phillips, 77, of 57 E. Main St., Loganton, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1924 in Greenburr, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Jennie Walizer Schreckengast.
She was a 1941 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
She was married to Raymond A. Phillips Sr. on Oct. 30,1942. He survives.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. The Rev. John Silliman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of services. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.

Mary E. Boob
Mary E. Boob, 67, of Beech Creek, died Oct. 14, 2001, in her home.
Born Jan. 24, 1934 in Beech Creek, she was the daughter of the late H. Devester and Clara Counsil Lindsey.
She was married to Walter L. Boob on Aug. 4, 1956. He survives.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at 11 a.m., in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in Hays-Fearon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ross J. Rockey
Ross J. Rockey, 80, of Hughesville, died Oct. 14, 2001, in Muncy Hospital.
Born Sept. 25, 1921 in Greene Township, he was the son of the late Lee and Rena Yarrison Rockey.
He was married to Rhedia Rockey, who preceded him in death in 1986.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at 11 a.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 95 E. Main St., Loganton. Mr. David Shoemaker will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Loganton. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Helen K. Grier
Helen K. Grier, 90, formerly of Lock Haven, died in Integrated Health Systems in Hershey, on Friday, Oct. 12, 2001.
She was born in Lamar Township on Jan. 20, 1911, a daughter of the late John and Bertha (Price) Long.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Grier in February of 1988; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, at 11 a.m., Tuesday, with Pastor Jeffrey Bayliff officiating. Interment will follow in Dunnstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy M. Smith
Dorothy M. Smith, 80, of Lock Haven, formerly of rural Mill Hall, died Oct. 13, 2001, in the Lock Haven Extended Care Unit.
Born Nov. 28, 1920 in Lamar Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Kathryn Hopple Duck.
She was married to Doyle M. Smith on Feb. 21, 1936, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1981.
Funeral services will be Oct. 16, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall. The Rev. Mark Woodring will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Avis United Methodist Church or the Rote United Methodist Church.

Reba S. Phillips, 77, of 57 East Main St., Loganton, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital.

Marjorie Fern Eisenhower, 72, of 977 Ridge Road, Mill Hall, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital Emergency Room.
Born Jan. 7, 1929 in Milesburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry W. and Mildred L. Jones Hazel.
She married Kenneth A. Eisenhower, June 12, 1948 in Bellefonte. He survives at home.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private. There will be no public visitation. The Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, is in charge of the arrangements.

Harry G. Spangler, 79, of Nittany Valley , died Oct. 9, 2001, in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born April 8, 1922 in Nittany, he was the son of the late Robert and Emma Walizer Spangler.
He was married to Alice Marie Young on June 26, 1946 in Marsh Creek. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1993.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. The Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad will officiate. Burial will be in Hublersburg Cemetery, Walker Township, will military services. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, Pa. 16801.

John J. Plum, 80, of Palm Harbor, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in his home.
Born in Aachen, Germany, he moved to Palm Harbor from Charlotte, N.C. one and a half years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Ann. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, Largo Chapel, 716 Seminole Blvd., Largo, Fla. 33770.

Dr. Dean G. Phelps
Dean G. Phelps of Wilmington, N.C., passed into God’s care on Oct. 7, 2001 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
He was born Feb. 7, 1934 in Grafton, N.D., the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Phelps. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ethel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C. 28401, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by Paster Mark Opgrand and Paster John C. Misenheimer. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, N.C.

Carol Anne Kessler
Carol Anne Kessler passed away Sept. 27, 2001 in Green Valley, Ariz.
She was born Sept. 13, 1847 in Lyons, N.Y., and lived most of her life in the Jersey Shore area.
She has no known living relatives.
At her request, no services were held. She was cremated and her ashes, along with the ashes of her beloved dog, Shang-Hi, were scattered over the Colorado mountains per her final request.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

Connie A. (Lansberry) Walker, 63, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, in Rochester, N.Y.
She was born March 20, 1938 in Lock Haven, to Dayton Lansberry and Annabel Smith.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph E. Walker.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., in the Walker Brothers Company Funeral Home, 15 West Ave., Spencerport, N.Y., where funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Spencerport, N.Y.

Stella M. Letterman
Stella M. Letterman, 75, formerly of Lock Haven and ManorCare North, Williamsport, died Oct. 7, 2001.
She was born April 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Arnold M. and Frances Myers Letterman.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Yost-Gedon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Russell P. Zerby
Russell P. Zerby, 87, of Bellefonte, died Sunday.
He was born April 23, 1914.
He was married to Marie Long, who survives.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Neff Funeral Home, Howard, with Rev. George Burns. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Stella R. Reed
Stella R. Reed, 79, who formerly lived at 1822 Sweeley Ave., Williamsport, with her son, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at ManorCare North.
Her husband, Wilbur K. Reed, died in 1960 in Bellefonte. Mrs. Reed then moved to Lock Haven and worked as a waitress for many years until her illness.
Born April 18, 1922 in Mansfield, Ohio, she was a daughter of Alex and Sadie Oswald Lewis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with Rev. Melvin D. Bole officiating. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Gary L. Nihart
Gary Lynn Nihart, 53, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at his home in Easley, S.C.
Born in Mill Hall, Mr. Nihart attended Bald Eagle-Nittany High School.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Leigh McKinney Nihart of Easley, S.C. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Norwest, S.C. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Easley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville Hospital System Hospice, 255 Enterprise Blvd., Suite 140, Greenville, S.C. 29615, or to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, South Carolina Chapter, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, S.C. 29063.

Doris R. Schalles, 83, formerly of Jersey Shore and Mechanicsburg, died late Saturday evening, Oct. 6, 2001, in the Jefferson Manor Home of Brookville.
Born Feb. 14, 1918 in South Williamsport, she was the daughter of John A. Pepperman and the former Blanche E. Mallory.
She was united in marriage on Dec. 26, 1949 to Mr. Paul H. Schalles. He preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1997.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at 2 p.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. The Rev. Richard Jones will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Salladasburg Cemetery.

Henry C. Schreckengast
Henry C. Schreckengast, 86, of Lamar, passed away Oct. 6, 2001, in the Jersey Shore Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1915 in Logan Mills, a son of the late Newton and Lola Messmer Schreckengast.
He was married to Mae M. Rowe in August of 1938. She survives.
Burial and services will be held at the convenience of the family in the St. Paul’s E.U.B. Church cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Lamar United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Flemington.

Ruth R. Herlocher
Ruth R. Herlocher, 93, of Woolrich, died at Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1908 in Loganton, a daughter of the late Matthew and Sara Geiger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Herlocher Sr. on Sept. 11, 1989. Funeral services will be at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Norm Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Woolrich Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Kenneth D. Shaffer Sr.
Kenneth D. Shaffer Sr., 75, of Keystone Manor, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Nov. 15, 1925 in North Bend, the son of Jack and Violet Hollingsworth Shaffer.
On Jan. 31, 1947 in North Bend, he married the former Mary Alice Lomax. She survives.
Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Edward M. Barnett Funeral Home, 207 W. Fourth St., Emporium, where funeral and committal services will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin McElroy, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in North Bend Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Memorials can made to the Cameron County Cardiac Committee.

David Blackburn Kirk
David Blackburn Kirk, 79, of Yardley, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in Mercer Hospital in Trenton, after a brief illness.
Mr. Kirk was born in Lock Haven, and raised in Mill Hall. He was the son of Dr. Clair Bishop Kirk and Elizabeth Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Thorsten Kirk, originally from Renovo. A memorial service is planned for September in Fishertown. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Friends Service Committee, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19102.

Dorothy E. Kulp
Dorothy E. Kulp, 86, a resident of Jersey Shore ManorCare, passed away on Aug. 12, 2001. She was a member of ManorCare for a little over two years.
She was born May 20, 1915 in Salladasburg, the daughter of Elmer L. and Sara J. Riggle, also deceased.
On March 26, 1932, she married Miles E. Kulp, also deceased.
Dorothy was a member of the Church of God of Jersey Shore for approximately 45 years.
She worked at Weldon Manufacturing Company for 27 years as a presser.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at 10 a.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. The Rev. Theodore Van Schoick will officiate. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Geraldine W. (Gerry) Powers, 72, of 205 Kyler Ave., Mill Hall, died Aug. 9, 2001, in Williamsport Hospital.
Born Jan. 3, 1929 in Beech Creek, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Margaret N. Ludwig McGhee.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall.
