Virginia M. Harris, 62, of Warrensville Heights, OH, formerly of Mudfork, died Oct. 19 at Merida South Point Hospital in Warrensville, OH.
Born at Thorpe, WV, she was a daughter of Margaret Harris Pannell of Lashmeet, WV, and the late Woodrow J. Harris.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Andrea Carrol, and one brother, Thomas E. Harris.
Additional survivors: daughters, Margaret Wilcoxson and husband, Derrick, and Janice Lewis and husband, James, all of Warrensville; grandchildren, Terrence, Keyira and Tashianna; brothers, James W. Wilma D. Harrison
Wilma Dee Harrison, 68, of Waco, TX, died Oct. 18 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC, of complications from pancreatitis.
Loving mother to Stephen and Janet Keeter of Lodi, CA, Clay and Miriam Keeter of Asheville, NC, and Patrick (Pete) Keeter of Tazewell. She will be missed by her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, numerous friends and coworkers.
She lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and California, but chose to call Tazewell home. She devoted her life to her family and to public service. She held many positions in the public sector, her last being with Clinch Valley Community Action.
The family invites all who knew her and loved her to share their thoughts and memories at an open remembrance service to be held at Chestnut Grove Christian Church, Rt. 61, Tazewell, on Oct. 27 at noon.
The family request donations be made to Christian Acres Children's Camp Fund, c/o Chestnut Grove Christian Church, Rt. 3 Box 761-A, Tazewell, VA 24651 or to Clinch Valley Community Action/Literacy Program, P.O. 188, N. Tazewell, VA 24630 in lieu of flowers.

Vella Dye Whitt, 83, of Rt. 3, Cedar Bluff, died Oct. 22 in a Richlands hospital following a brief illness.
Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff is in charge of the arrangements.

Stella D. Davis
Stella D. Davis, 77, of Tazewell, died Dec. 9 at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Riddle, in Christiansburg.
Born at Chattaroy, WV, she was a daughter of the late Michael B. and Caroline Wilk Dudek.
She was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Baxter L. Davis; one sister, Mary Leach; two brothers, Edward Dudek and Ted Dudek.
Survivors: daughter, Carolyn D. Riddle and husband, W. G. Riddle, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Lisa White and Bryan Riddle; great-grandchild, Megan White; and sisters, Monica S. Dudek and Josephine Cherry, both of Abbs Valley.
The funeral will be conducted Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Father Dan Brady officiating.
Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, VA.

Osie S. Robinette
Osie Sheets Robinette, 71, of Tazewell, died Dec. 8 at Bluefield Regional Hospital.
Born in Thompson Valley, she was a daughter of the late James Martin and Florida Henry Akers Sheets.
She was a member of the Fincastle Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Robinette; seven brothers, Crockett Bowen Sheets, Sr., Harry Sheets, Sr., John Sheets, Joe Sheets, Robert L. Sheets, Tom Sheets and Fred Sheets; four sisters, Ella Mae VanDyke, Mary Bumgardner, Margaret Meredith and Hazel Puckett.
Survivors: daughter, Joy Looney and husband, Darren, of Tazewell; grandchildren, Joshua Looney and Olivia Looney; sisters, Louise Wimmer of Hyattsville, MD, Laura Boothe of Seabrook, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Jimmy Hagy officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.

Elzie Stiltner
Elzie Stiltner, 79, of the Poplar Creek section of Rt. 2, Grundy, died Dec. 8 at Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late George and Lizzie McClanahan Stiltner.
He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and a member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church of the Union Association. He was a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Edith Stiltner Daugherty, Udell Stiltner, Nell Potter and Ivel Stiltner Childress; one brother, Estil Stiltner; and one grandson, Jason Scott Powitzky.
Survivors: wife of 51 years, Eula Irene Foster Stiltner; daughter, Peggy Dianna and husband, Roger Edwards, of Lenoir, NC; sons, Gary Lee and wife, Lisa Stiltner, of Bristol, WI, Greg Dean and wife, Teddie Stiltner of Beach Park, IL; sisters, Alice Fields of Rt. 2, Grundy, Laune Stiltner of Cedar Bluff, Loretta Williamson of Capac, MI, Christine Nichols of Warren, MI; brother, Charles (Chuck) Stiltner of Tazewell; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church of the Union Association on Poplar Creek, Rt. 2, Grundy, with Elders Freddie Ramey, Frelin Yates, Howard Daniels and Mark Justice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stiltner Cemetery on Poplar Creek near the church.
Services were held at the church Dec. 9 and 10 at 7 p.m.

Charles W. Thompson
Charles Warren Thompson, 86, of Tip Top, died Dec. 7 at his home.
Born at Tip Top, he was a son of the late William Hampton Thompson and Anna McCoy Thompson.
He was a member of the Tip Top United Methodist Church. He was a retired mechanic with Bishop Coal Mines with 48 years service and was a member of the UMWA Local #6025. He and his wife were honored by the Tazewell County Department of Social Services in Tazewell with a certificate of appreciation for outstanding service and contributions for serving as foster parents from 1970 to 1994. They were foster parents to 76 children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Revels Thompson; two brothers, Vernon Thompson and Blaine Thompson; and one sister, Alma E. Brown.
Survivors: daughters, Leona Collette Hendricks of Princeton, WV, Marsha L. Cleveland and husband, Feliliciano, of Oklahoma; sons, William H. Thompson Sr. and wife, Mary Ellen, and Russell E. Thompson, Sr. and wife, Helen, all of Cleveland, OH, Bobby L. Thompson and wife, Karen, of New Jersey, Charles "Mike" Thompson, of Staunton, Kevin W. Thompson and wife, Jody, of Florida, and David R. Thompson of North Tazewell; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Leon Yost officiating.
Burial will follow at the Thompson Family Cemetery in Tip Top.

Inez M. Altizer
Inez Mamie Asbury Altizer, 87, of Smithfield, formerly of Richlands, died Jan. 23 in Smithfield.
Born in Berwind, WV, she was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Richlands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman G. Altizer.
Survivors: daughters, Gearldean Jackson of New Kent, Frances D. Pritchett and Wanda F. Couch, both of Smithfield, Jacqueline Whitesell of Hampton; brother, Otis S. Perdue of Williamston, WV; grandchildren, Cynthia Couch, Pamela Fay, Patricia Pearce, Brian Whitesell, Denise Luckey, Eric Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Tina England and Debbie White; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, in Suffolk with the Dr. Don Rhoton officiating.
Interment will be Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Isle of Wight County Volunteer Rescue Squad of the Alzheimer's Association.

Fulton B. Artis
Fulton Bruce Artis, 51, of the Baptist Valley section of Tazewell, died Jan. 23 at an Abingdon hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born at McDowell County, WV, he was a son of the late Fulton Gail and Anna Lorraine Caudill Artis.
He had made his home at Baptist Valley his entire life. He had been a welder with Lawrence Brothers. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors: wife, Susan Michelle Dotson Artis; daughter, Crystal Gayl Bowman of Tazewell; sister, Penny Nunes of Narrows; and niece, Natasha Nunes of Narrows.
Graveside services will be conducted Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA, with Rev. Clarence Herron officiating.
Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Tazewell the day of the funeral from noon until 2 p.m.

James (Junior) Brown
James (Junior) Clinton Brown, 74, of Keen Mountain, died Jan. 23 in a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in McDowell County, WV, he was the son of the late Clinton James and Ruthie Vandyke Brown.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of Vansant Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Jackson Brown, and one grandchild, Lutricia Meyer.
Survivors: wife of 55 years, Georgia Proffitt Brown; son, James (Jim) M. Brown of Vansant; daughter, Mrs. Paul (Wilma) Smith of Vansant; sisters, Martha Hagy of Roanoke, Betty Shelton of Eagle Rock, Rosa Compton of Doran; grandchildren, Vanessa Lynn King, Jeannie Michelle Keen, Jessica Hope Charles and Wendy Dale McCoy; and great-grandchildren, Lakin Noel Stacy and Skylar Charles.
The funeral will be conducted Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain with Evangelist Mike Rife and Evangelist Bob Smith officiating.

Leah P. Davis
Leah Pearl Hagy Davis, 82, of the Dry Fork area of Vansant, died Jan. 22 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy, following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Rachel Virginia Price Hagy.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Buchanan Assembly of God in Big Rock and a retired janitress and cook.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Paulas, and one brother, Denton Hagy.
Survivors: husband, Basil B. Davis of Vansant; sisters, Lottie Delong of Prestonsburg, KY, Anges Seaver of Metamora, MI, Fay Childress of Richlands; and brothers, Elmer Hagy of Vansant and John Hagy of Huntington, WV.
The funeral will be conducted Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Henson officiating.

Earnest P. Duty
Earnest P. Duty, 76, of the Belfast community of Rosedale, died Jan. 23 at his home.
Born at Duty, he was a son of the late Robert Lundy and Ethel Rose Duty.
He spent his early life in Duty, had resided in Florida and had returned to Belfast in 1997. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was a retired business executive, having been active in coal, timber and land development. He attended the Rowe Free Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors: wife of 54 years, Frances Colley Duty; daughters, Sheila Keen of Lebanon, Rose Owens of Interlachen, FL, Donna Duty of Tennessee; son, Larry Earnest Duty of Interlachen; sisters, Allene Hale of Castlewood, Norma Gilliam of Gray, TN; brothers, Banner Duty of Akron, OH, Bob Duty, Richard Duty and Randall Duty, all of Bee, Rodney Duty of Davenport; grandchildren, Veronica Owens, Jordan Keen, Ernie Keen, Stephanie Jackson, Rebecca Alexander and Melanie Januchowski; and five great-grandchildren.

James H. Goss
James Harvey Goss, 75, of Cedar Bluff, died Jan. 23 in a Richlands hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Jewell Ridge, he was a son of the late Lee Ira and Sally Mitchell Goss, both Buchanan County natives.
He was a retired miner of Vandyke Coal Company in Whitewood and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union No. 7327 of Jewell Valley. He had made his home in Whitewood before moving to the Cedar bluff area 40 years ago. He was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Ted Goss, and one sister, Louise Lawrence.
Survivors: sister, Pauline Lowe of Blountville, TN; brother, Roy Lee Goss and wife, Mary, of Raven; niece, Anita Plaster and husband, Chuck, of Raven; nephew, Ora Lee "Pete" Lawrence and wife, Shirley Chaffins Lawrence, of Mouthcard, KY; great-nephew and great-niece, Logan Plaster and Madison Plaster of Raven; and several cousins.
The funeral will be conducted Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Dennis White officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hankins Cemetery in Richlands.

Karen L. Ladwig
Karen Lynn Ladwig, 38, of the Wysor Valley section of Honaker, died Jan. 23 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born in Fort Knox, KY, she was a daughter of Nancy Rickman Perkins of Honaker and the late Allen Ladwig.
She had spent most of her life in the Honaker area and was a 1981 graduate of Honaker High School. She was a member of the Honaker Church of Christ.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ferrell Perkins, and one brother, Shawn Lee Ladwig.
Additional survivors: sisters, Melissa Perkins Barton of Honaker, Shannon Hale of Lebanon, and maternal grandmother, Jewell Rickman of Honaker.

Clarence "Buddy" Lockhart, Jr.
Clarence W. "Buddy" Lockhart, Jr., 60, of Tazewell, died Jan. 22 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born in Tazewell County, he was a son of the late Clarence Walter Lockhart, Sr. and Maude Mullins Lockhart.
He was a graduate of Tazewell High School, a member of the Tazewell County Horseman's Club and the Moose Lodge in Tazewell. He attended the Tazewell Family Worship Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Bradley and Betty Armstrong; two brothers, Jeff Lockhart and Calvin Kitts; paternal grandparents, Henry and Fannie Lockhart; and maternal grandparents, John and Mary Mullins.

Jimmy D. Sawyers
Jimmy Darrle Sawyers, 51, of Tazewell, died Jan. 22 at his home.
Born in Tazewell, he was a son of the late James Stuart Sawyers and Virgie Alley Sawyers.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Bogle, and three brothers, James W. Sawyers, Carl J. Sawyers and Garland Edward Sawyers.
Survivors: wife of 31 years, Dixie Ruth Boardwine Sawyers; daughters, Diana Ruth Lawson and husband, Michael, of North Tazewell, Rebecca D. Sawyers of the home; sons, Jimmy D. Sawyers and wife, Nancy, of North Tazewell, Daniel Lee Sawyers and wife, Brandy, of Thompson Valley; sisters, Minnie M. Slate of Ohio, Louise Yates of Dry Fork, Barbara G. Reece Witt, Jr.
Reece Alley Witt, Jr., 83, of the Adria area in North Tazewell, left this world to join his heavenly father for eternal rest on Jan. 23, following a long illness.
Born in Tazewell County, he was a son of the late Reece Witt, Sr. and Mattie Combs Witt.
He was a long time member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church in Tazewell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Barns Beavers VFW Post No. 7136 of Tazewell. He retired in 1982 from Beavers and Cecil Contractors. He will be missed by all those close to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lettie Alice Lawson Witt; two brothers, Kelly Witt and Willis Witt; and one sister, Ruth Hicks.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth (Libby) Kimberlin and husband, Darrell, and Anita Faye Kinder and husband, David, all of North Tazewell; sisters, Helena Puckett of Mechanicsville, Alverta VanDyke of Tampa, FL; special niece, Letitia Hicks of Columbus, OH; special grandchildren, Andrea Alicie, Buddy Alicie, Shana Kimberlin and Sarah Kimberlin; very special companion, his dog, "Crickett"; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth J. Allison
Ruth Jessie Allison, 89, of the Thompson Valley area of Tazewell, died June 2 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell.
Born at Hansonville, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Frazier Harrison and Nancy Ann Dye Harrison.
She was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Allison; five sisters, Anna Scott, Jennie Cumbow, Ollie Harrison, Louellen Kimberlin and Minnie Litton; and four brothers, Gilbert Harrison, Amos Harrison, Oakley Harrison and Hatler Harrison. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: sons, Nathan Allison, Perry Allison, Gerald Allison and Gary Allison, all of Tazewell, Joseph Allison of Richmond, Ralph Allison of Springville; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted June 5 at 11 a.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Robert E. Cook officiating.

Fannie Lou Barnett
Fannie Lou Kennedy Barnett, 83, of Richlands, died June 4 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born at Jewell Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Walton and Rachel Rimmer Kennedy.
She was employed with Clinch Valley Medical Center for 17 years. She was a member of Circle #3 at Richlands Presbyterian Church and Senior Friends at Clinch Valley Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Marcelleus Barnett, in 1962; four brothers, Stuart Kennedy, George Kennedy, James Kennedy and John Kennedy; and three sisters, Flora Barnette, Euva Kennedy and Lexie Vandyke.
Survivors: daughter, Susie Hess and husband, Ken, of Richlands; sons, John Barnett and wife, Sara, of Christiansburg, Bill Barnett and wife, Sandy, of Chester; brother, William Kennedy of Sacramento, CA; sister, Mozelle Kennedy of Richlands; grandchildren, Euva Hess, James and wife, Carey Barnett, Greg and wife, Amy Barnett, and Andrew Barnett; step-grandson, Chris and wife, Desta Melitzer; step-granddaughter, Shelby Melitzer; and special caregivers, Viola Ball, Erma Horn, and Pearl Marshall.
A memorial service will be conducted June 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Joe Horn and Rev. David Danford officiating.

Lena M. Boothe
Lena Mae Boothe, 81, of North Tazewell, died June 2 at a Tazewell hospital following a brief illness.
Born at Cedar Bluff, she was a daughter of the late Carter Robert Hankins and Arra Rebecca Sparks Hankins.
She had made her home in Tazewell Co. all her life. She was retired from General Instrument. She was a housewife and loving mother. She was a member of Linkous Chapel at Dry Fork.
She was the widow of Charles Junior Boothe. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Thomas Hankins and Robert Junior Hankins, and two sisters, Cora Lee Hankins and Margaret Hankins.
Survivors: son, Charles Joseph Boothe of North Tazewell; sister, Mary Sheets and husband, Eugene, of North Tazewell; brother, Victor Dayton Hankins of Canebrake, WV; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted June 6 at 2 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell with Rev. Jimmy Dickens and Rev. Jess Crouse officiating.
Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. June 5.

Minnie Bostic
Minnie Bostic, 95, of the Abbs Valley area of Bluefield, VA, went to be with the Lord June 2 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Born at John's Creek in Pike County, KY, she was a daughter of the late William and Lizza Cochran Bostic.
She was a member of the Spencer Curve Baptist Church in Anawalt, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Davis A. Bostic; four stepsons, Dave Bostic, George Bostic, Charlie Bostic and John Bostic; four stepdaughters, Mary Billips, Nan Billips, Pearl Roberts and India Kennedy; one granddaughter, Patricia Bostic; son-in-law, Darel Shumate; three brothers; and five sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: sons, Herman Bostic and wife, Wanda, of Baptist Valley, Willard Bostic and wife, Dorothy, of Alaska and Abbs Valley; daughters, Hazel Shumate of Abbs Valley, Gracie Pickett and husband, William Pickett, Jr., of Springfield, SC, Thelma Bostic of the home; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted June 5 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Walter Schwitzerlett and Henry Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Gladys L. Hampton
Gladys Lucille Holloway Hampton, 78, of Roanoke, formerly of Richlands, died June 3 in a Roanoke hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mollie Sawyers Holloway. She was a former employee of General Instrument of Tazewell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Titus Hampton, and two brothers, Albert "Bud" Holloway and Henry "Clint" Holloway.
Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Harry (Anita) Bandy of Roanoke; sons, Glenn Hampton and wife, Susie, and Roger Hampton and wife, Teresa, all of Pounding Mill; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. June 5 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill with Rev. Stafford Compton officiating.
Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff is in charge of arrangements.

Roy G. (Mac) McGrady
Roy G. (Mac) McGrady, 69, died June 2 following his battle with cancer.
Born in Bluefield, VA, on July 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Walter and Ethel McGrady.
He was an outstanding all sports athlete at Graham High School, a Korean War Veteran with the US Marine Corp. and was a retired Postal employee. He was a high school referee for 33 years serving the Appalachian Officials Association. He received the Regional Merit Award for Region IV and the Virginia High School League Distinguished Service Award and worked as an A.O.A. Supervisor. He was a member of the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Grinstead McGrady, and one sister, Norma Jean Herndon.
Survivors: daughters, Lisa McGrady Lewis and husband, Sam, of Richlands, Stephanie McGrady Roach and husband, Billy, of Bluefield, VA; granddaughters, Jillian Lewis and Mykenzie Roach; and dear friend, Vivian Bryant.
The funeral will be conducted June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA, with the Rev. Larry Murphy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Va. Ave. United Methodist Church or to the Graham High School Educational Foundation.

Pauline Price
Pauline Price, 84, of Doran, died June 2 at a Richlands hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Ramage, WV, she was a daughter of the late Emory Lester Kirk and Lilly Mae Foster Kirk, both Boone County, WV, natives.
She had made her home in the Doran area the past 54 years and was a retired employee of the Tazewell County School System. She was a charter member of the Doran Wesleyan Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and pianist for a number of years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E. C. Price April 25, 2002; one son, Paul D. Price; one granddaughter, Shelia Foster; and two grandsons, Preston M. Price, II and Benjamin Foster.
Survivors: daughters, Loretta Simmons and husband, Bernard, of Bristol, Lois Salyers and husband, Emory, of Raven, Lorraine Foster and husband, Dude, of Doran; sons, P.M. Price and wife, Doris, of Sugar Grove, Ernie Price of Doran; daughter-in-law, Deloris Price of Richlands; sister, Trudy Smith of New Smyrna Beach, FL; brother, Bruce Kirk of Ohio; 15 grandchildren 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Bud Fugate and Dr. Charles Massey officiating.
Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill.

Wilma J. Shelton
Wilma Jean Eure Shelton, 73, of Richlands, died June 2 at her home following a lengthy illness.
The body was taken to Sturtevant Funeral Home in Portsmouth where funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby K. Stanley
Ruby Keen Stanley, 73, of Martinsville, died June 1 at her residence.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late William Keen and Mary Cantrell Keen.
She was retired from American Furniture Co. and was a member of Martinsville Church of Truth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Stanley, Sr.; one daughter, Ruth Stanley Hunt; one sister, Virginia Ball; and three grandchildren.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria (Vickie) S. and Tommy Webb of Martinsville, Arleen S. and Fred Gilbert of Richlands; sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Rachel Robertson Stanley of Martinsville, James H. and Lori Martin Stanley of Bassett; sisters, Mae K. Cook of Kingsport, TN, Georgia Keen of Powells Point, NC, Bonnie K. Absher of Richlands; brothers, Edward Keen of Bluefield, WV, Homer Keen of Stuart, Albert Keen of Shortts Gap; grandchildren, Tommy Webb, Jr., Steven Holt, Jamie Stanley, Sandra Conners, Kimberly Kidd, Lisa Gilbert, Kayla Stanley and Becky Gonzalez; and great-grandchildren, Dominic Gonzalez, Amber Kidd and Ryan Kidd.
The funeral was conducted June 4 at 2 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Martinsville with Pastor Bill Preskitt officiating.
Burial followed in Henry Memorial Park.

Ervin C. Street
Ervin Curtis Street, 83, of Rowe, died June 3 at his home following a long illness.
A native of Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Elbert and Millie Williamson Street.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA Local 1374 and was a member of the Robinson Fork Pentecostal Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Clarence Eugene Street; one brother, Dewey Street; one half-brother, Clyde Street; and one sister, Norma Nichols.
Survivors: wife of 65 years, Emma Gay Jackson Street; sons, Jimmy Street and wife, Mary, of Lebanon, Ronnie Street and wife, Sue, of Rowe, Marty Street and wife, Carol, of Council; daughters, Mrs. Monroe (Beulah) Fletcher and Shirley Matney, both of Rowe; sisters, Bea Fletcher of Alexandria, Mary Alexander of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Rita Breeding, Anita Fletcher, Donna Matney, Kayla Matney, Kim Perkins, Tony Matney, Randy Fletcher, Stevie Fletcher, Caleb Street, Michael Street and Richard Street; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Perkins, Samantha Breeding, Jonathan Breeding, Mallorie Matney, Tiffeny Ratliff, Christopher Ratliff, Benjamin Street, Jessica Street and Ashley Fletcher.
The funeral will be conducted June 6 at 1 p.m. in the Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain with Rev. Giles Ball and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating.
Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill.

Burton W. White, Sr.
Burton Wayne White, Sr., 52, of Lincolnton, NC, died June 1 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born at Jewell Valley, he was the son of Vernal White of Jewell Valley and the late Beve White.
After having served in the United States Army he made his home in North Carolina and retired from Custom Paving of Gastonia, NC, in 1992. His life touched many and will be remembered by all who love him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Martin White, and one sister, Ruth White.
Survivors: former wife, Violet "Gay" Bean of Denver, NC; sons, Burton Wayne White II of Lincolnton, Charles "Wayne" White of Denver; daughters, Annette Michelle Hess and Angela "Angie" Gay Cauthen and fiancé, Julio Saldana, all of Lincolnton; brothers, Lloyd White and wife, Judith, of Sommersville, WV, Wallace White and wife, Judy, of White Spring, FL, Erwin White and wife, Susan, of Dunnelton, FL, Ronald Lee White and wife, Wanda, of Vale, NC, Carl David White of Damascus; sisters, Lula Ellis and husband, Rev. Robert Ellis, of Wauchula, FL, Bonnie Blankenship and husband, Vester, of Jewell Valley, Betty Sommers and husband, Authur, of Front Royal, Mildred Rodgers and husband, Walter, of Citra, FL; mother-in-law, Etta Hicks of Baptist Valley; grandson, Burton Wayne White, II and Damien White, both of Iron Station, NC, Josh White of Catawba, NC, Jeremy Cauthen of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Makayla Nicole Saldana of Lincolnton; and many nieces and nephews, brothers and sister-in-law.
The funeral will be conducted June 6 at 2 p.m. in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. James Wilbanks of Georgia, Rev. Robert and Ruby Gittens of Stanley, NC, and Rev. Billy Ray Hicks of Hinckley, OH, officiating.
Burial will follow in the White Cemetery located on White Mountain.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by Casey-Shortt V.F.W. Post #9640 and Tazewell County Chapter 31 D.A.V.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. June 5.

William P. Hawkins
William Preston Hawkins, 79, of Bluefield, VA, died at his home July 29.
Born in Galax, he was the son of Preston Kinley Hawkins and Mattie Jones Hawkins.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army where he served in the 5th Division "Son of the Red Diamond" European Campaign from 1939 to 1945. He was a former highway/bridge construction worker for the state of Ohio and an independent contractor in the Bluefield area for many years. He was a longtime member of the Bluefield Elks Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Hawkins and Clifford Hawkins, and four sisters, Syble Matthews, Agnes Bobbitt, Esther Barger and Donna Campbell.
Survivors: devoted wife of 57 years, Polly Neal Hawkins; daughters, Ginger Elaine Hawkins of Bluefield, VA, Jackie Hawkins Johnson and husband, Command Sergeant's Major Randall H. Johnson, of Fayetteville, NC, Bobbie Hawkins Cox and husband, Paul A. Cox, of Bluefield, VA; son, John "Jeep" Preston Hawkins and wife, Angela M. Hawkins, of New Symrna Beach, FL; grandchildren, Gabriel Aaron Cox, Chase Randall Johnson and Savanah Ashley Hawkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his church family of First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA, and faithful pastor, Reverend and Mrs. Hugh Kilgore; his devoted nurse and caregiver, Melissa Hicks and Chris Peak; and his friend and longtime physician, Dr. Stephen DeGray.
The funeral will be conducted Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens.
An airborne unit from Ft. Bragg will facilitate with a military honor guard and pallbearers.
