Tyler Bryan Kincer, infant son of Teddy Ray Kincer and Amanda Rachel Keen of Vale, NC, died July 27 in Catawaba Memorial Hospital, Hickory, NC, following a short illness.
Additional survivors: twin brother, Taylor Ryan Kincer of Vale; half-brother, Alex Kincer of Newton, NC; maternal grandmother, Judy Coleman Keen of Oakwood; maternal great-grandmother, Melda Coleman of Honaker; paternal grandparents, Teddy Ray and Castella Kincer of Pasadena, MD; paternal great-grandfather, Keith Kincer of Lynch, KY; seven aunts; eight uncles; and 16 cousins.
The funeral was conducted July 31 at 1 p.m. at Little Martha Old Regular Baptist Church in Leemaster with Elders Mark Justice, Howard Daniels, Roger Coleman, Eddie Newsome, Jerry Newsome, David OQuinn, Freddy Ramey, Freelin Yates, Frank OQuinn and Aven Viers officiating.
Burial followed in the Esau Rife Cemetery on Keen Mountain near Oakwood.
Services where held at the church July 30 at 7 p.m.

William (Bill) Lowe, Sr.
William Stuart (Bill) Lowe, Sr., 59, of Cedar Bluff, died July 29 in a Kingsport, TN, hospital.
Born July 18, 1943 in Virginia, he was a son of the late Aaron Columbus and Effie Lou Davis Lowe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Matthew Lowe.

Interment will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery on Kents Ridge near Swords Creek.

Sammy Massey
Sammy Massey, 88, of Tazewell, died July 29 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell.
He was born July 1, 1914 and had been a resident of Heritage Hall for many years.
Graveside services will be conducted Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell with the Rev. Kenny Fields officiating.

James W. Mitchell
James William Mitchell, 49, of North Tazewell, died July 30, at his home.
Born in Richlands, he was a son of James Edward and Ira Mae Walk Mitchell of North Tazewell.
He made his home in the North Tazewell area most of his life and was an employee of the Town of Tazewell for the past eight years. He was of the Apostolic Faith.
Additional survivors: son, James Daniel Mitchell of Ohio; sister, Brenda Ann Hankins of Newark, DE; brothers, Bobby Lee Mitchell of Tazewell, Ronnie Eugene Mitchell of Rosedale; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. in the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell with Rev. Kenneth Fields officiating.
Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.

Everett L. Rose
Everett L. Rose, 70, of the Lakeview Addition of Bluefield, VA, died July 29 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Ronald McCullen.
Born at Big Sandy, WV, he was a son of the late Wilburn and Mary O'Neal Rose.
He was a member of the Stoney Ridge Assembly of God Church and was a retired coal miner of Bishop Coal Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 45 years, Maxine Belcher Rose on July 29, 2000; five brothers, Alfred Rose, Joe Rose, Lincoln Rose, Elmer Rose and Ray Rose; and one sister, Juanita Rose.
Survivors: daughter, Ginger McCullen and husband, Ronald, of Bluefield, VA; sons, Steve Rose and wife, Pam, of Lindenhurst, IL, Cecil Rose and wife, Becky, of Bluefield, VA, Alvin Rose and wife, Connie, of Tip Top, Abraham Wells of Bluefield, VA; sister, Evelyn Farley of Pineville, WV; brother, Roy Rose of Big Sandy; grandchildren, Don and Bekie Rose of Lindenhurst, Leeann Rose and Sam McCullen, both of Bluefield, VA; great-grandchildren, Sean Everett Rose and Viviette "Breezy" Rose of Lindenhurst; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Whitley Pruett and Arey Bandy officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Dorothy D. Tanner
Dorothy Draper Tanner, 95, of Kingsport, TN, formerly of Richlands, died July 29 in a Kingsport, TN, health care center.
Born in Tip Top, she was a daughter of the late Talbert A. and Woodward Zink Draper.
She was a graduate of Richlands High School in Richlands and Randolph-Macon Women's College in Lynchburg. She had resided in Kingsport since 1948 moving to Asbury Center at Baysmont 18 years ago and in 1955 was employed as a fourth grade teacher at Johnson Elementary School in Kingsport until her retirement in 1971. She was a member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church in Kingsport.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 58 years, John Alexander "Jack" Tanner, and three sisters, Evelyn Grainger, Helen Ireson, and Nona Ruth Spencer. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Alexandra T. Fabick and Harold "Fab" Fabick of Church Hill, TN, Melinda Mullins and C. W. Mullins of Mexico Beach, FL; grandchildren, Fred Marshall Turner, II and wife, Terri Kennon Turner, Kathleen Mullins Busch and John David Mullins; and great-grandchildren, Carolyn Alexandria Turner (Allie), Fred Marshall Turner, III (Trey), Katelyn Busch and Patrick Tanner Busch.
A memorial service was conducted July 31 at 10 a.m. at Asbury Center at Baysmont in Kingsport with Cathy Clasen, Associate Pastor and Youth Minister at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church officiating.
A graveside service will be held July 31 at 3 p.m. at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Richlands with Rev. Norman Wilhoit officiating.
Interment will follow in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery.

Carolyn C. Walsh
Carolyn Compton Colbert Walsh, 55, went to be with the Lord July 29 after waging a courageous battle against cancer for the past three years.
Born in Bluefield, VA, she was a daughter of Margie Compton of Bluefield, VA, and the late Claude Compton.
She had a passion for decorating and a love for gardening. She was a member of the First Christian Church in King.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Ashton Colbert Stone, and one son-in-law, Bryan Newsome.
Additional survivors: devoted and loving husband, Dwayne (Doug) Walsh; daughters, Claudia Colbert (Derek) Vaden, and Stephanie Colbert Newsome, of King, NC; granddaughters, Chancey Stone and Bailee Newsome; step-granddaughters, Sonya and Kristin Vaden; brothers, Jimmy (Pat) Compton and Randy (Robin) Compton, all of Bluefield, VA; and many special friends, neighbors, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be held at the First Christian Church in King Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. with Gene Thompson, minister officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Garland "Buddy Lum" Whitman
Garland Wayne "Buddy Lum" Whitman, 55, of Bluefield, VA, died July 28.
He was born in Bluefield, WV. He was a former truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 9696.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garland E. Whitman, and one grandson, Joshua Micheal Bailey.
Survivors: mother, Alma Virginia Whitman of Bluefield, VA; daughters, Carmen Bailey and husband, Mike, and Kimberly Duesing and fiancé, Gary Shrader, all of Bluefield, VA; sister, Ann Riffe and husband, Roy, of Falls Mills Road; grandchildren, Tiffany and Alise Bailey, and Timmy and Justin Duesing, all of Bluefield, VA; and nephews, Lee Riffe and wife, Kim, and children of Bluefield, VA, and Tim Riffe and wife, Kimberly, of Great Falls.

Infant Mercedez Cox
Mercedez Ranne Cox, infant daughter of Angelica Cox and William Whitt of Tazewell, died Oct. 11 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 2 in Bluefield, WV.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jimmy Thompson and maternal great-grandfather, Conrad Davis.
Additional survivors: sister, Hannah Nicole Cox of the home; maternal grandmother, Connie Thompson of Tazewell; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Christian of Tazewell; maternal great-grandmother, Helen Davis of Tazewell; paternal great-grandfathers, Buster Pruette of North Tazewell, Dorsey Whitt of Cliffield; godmother, Eve McDonald, aunts, Denise Thompson and Dominique Davis, and special aunt, Betty Davis, all of Tazewell; and special friend, Christopher Hayes.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. James Dennis officiating.
Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.

Ollie M. Cox
Ollie Marie Robinson Cox, 74, of the Deskins Fork section of Vansant, died Oct. 15 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Dickenson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Chris and Stella Mae O?Quinn Robinson.
She was a member of the Stone Coal Primitive Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Omar Cox on July 25, 2001; one son, Randall Omar Cox; and five brothers, Evans Tom Robinson, Quentin Robinson, Bonsel Robinson, Robert Chris Robinson, Jr. and Omar Robinson.
Survivors: daughter, Evelyn Kay Cook of Belfast; sons, Alvin Cox and Jimmy Cox, both of Vansant; sisters, Irene Stiltner of Bristol, VA, Kathleen Stiltner and Gaynell Jackson, both of Vansant, Algeva Hagy of Powhatan; grandchildren, Monica Cox, Jimmy Cox and Scotty Cox; and great-granddaughter, Alexis Skye Cox.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Danny Smith, Delford Ward and Ked Stacy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock.

Betty C. Crookshanks
Betty Carol Crookshanks, 55, of Rt. 3, Cedar Bluff, formerly of Hazard, KY, died Oct. 12 following an apparent heart attack.
Born in Perry County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Zola Osborne Campbell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Greg Crookshanks, and one sister, Jackie Boggs.
Survivors: husband of 33 years, Warren David Crookshanks; brother, Gary Campbell and wife, Nora, of Hazard; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. in the Petrey Memorial Baptist Church at Hazard with Pastor Ronnie (Butch) Pennington officiating.
Burial will follow in the Campbell Family Cemetery on Brown?s Fork near Hazard.

Ernest R. Dye
Ernest Ralph Dye, 96, of Honaker, died Oct. 16 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1905 in Wise Co., he was a son of the late Hugh and Dorthea McCloud Dye.
He had resided in the Honaker area for the past 50 years and was a member of the Tunnell Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
He was a retired coal miner formerly employed by Klarney Mining Company in Klarney, WV, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nunie Dye, and two daughters, Phyllis Ann Gillam and Lois Marie Easterling. In his generation he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors: sons, Rev. Ralph Dye of Honaker, Edward Dye of Hanes City, FL, Kenneth Dye of Bluefield, VA; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker with Rev. Howard Reynolds officiating.
Interment will follow in the Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon.

James H. Foster
James Harold Foster, 49, of Cedar Bluff, died Oct. 13 in a Richlands hospital.
Born in Grundy, he was a son of Betty Foster Stiltner of Belfast and the late James M. Foster.
He had lived most of his life in the Russell County area and was a member of the Copper Ridge Independent Baptist Church in Cleveland. He was a disabled coal miner having been employed by Island Creek Coal Company.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny D. Foster, and one stepbrother, Greg Stiltner.
Survivors: wife, Mavis Reynolds Foster; mother and stepfather, Betty and Carson Stiltner, both of Belfast; sisters, Mrs. David (Teresa) Powers of Honaker, Mrs. Archie (Cathy) White of Whitewood, Mrs. James (Becky) Osborne of Lebanon; brothers, Danny Foster and Mark Foster, both of Belfast; maternal grandmother, Euna Boyd of Grundy; stepsisters, Bernice Waugh of Lebanon, Lexie Davis, Joyce Stiltner and Charlene Stiltner, all of Grundy; special mother-in-law, Maggie Reynolds Lowe of Cedar Bluff; special brothers-in-law, Harvey Lynn and Connie Reynolds, and Jacob Reynolds, all of Cedar Bluff, Samuel and Donna Reynolds and Matthew Reynolds, all of Abingdon; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Clyde (Junior) Fox, Jr.
Clyde M. (Junior) Fox, Jr., 77, of Hartwell, WV, died Oct. 11 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN.
Born in Newhall, WV, he was a son of the late Clyde Morris Fox, Sr. and the late Sarah Alta Fox.
He attended the Church of God in Hartwell. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II having served in the Hawaiian Islands. He retired from Consolidation Coal Company after 35 years of service and was a member of the UMWA Local #6633 at Hartwell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Fox and Jim Fox, and one sister, Jean Cain.
Survivors: wife of 44 years, Imogene N. Fox; son, Tommy Fox and wife, Lydonia, of Bishop; sisters, Fern Givens of Dayton, OH, Merle Lockhart of Hartwell; grandchildren, Brock T. Fox and wife, Kim, and Tammy Rose and husband, Tommy, all of Lexington, KY, Heather C. Dillard of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Amber Rose, Blake Rose and Jacqlyn Frank; special friend, Dink Gent of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Darrell Long officiating.
Entombment followed at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA.

Vernon N. Hoback
Vernon Nelson Hoback, 91, of North Tazewell, died Oct. 12 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born at Burkes Garden, he was the son of the late Luther F. Hoback and Bessie B. Repass Hoback.
He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Tazewell Family Worship Center. He retired from Consolidation Coal Company after 39 years of service and was a member of the UMWA Local #6025 at Bishop.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ernestine Witt Hoback, and one daughter, Jean H. Gillespie.
Survivors: wife of 33 years, Alice Rife Hoback; son, Donald R. Hoback of Bluefield, VA; stepson, Bill Burnett and wife, Sandy, of Galax; stepdaughter, Helen Diaco and husband, Vic, of California; son-in-law, Jack R. Gillespie of Great Falls; sister, Juanita Kaufman of Maryland; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Russell Hatfield officiating.
Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Linda Horn
Linda Horn, 75, of English, WV, died Oct. 14 in a Bluefield, WV, hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Garland, WV, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Mary Church Horn, both West Virginia natives.
She had made her home in the English area most of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Homer Tommy Horn; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Star Horn; one sister, Brooke Horn; and one brother, Luther Horn.
Survivors: daughters, Ozella Keene and husband, Freddie, of English, Agnes Sue Crusenberry and husband, Steve Hankins, of Cucumber, WV, Corina Dobson and husband, Burnice, of War, WV, Carol Hankins Hicks and husband, William, of Amonate; sons, Ervin Horn and wife, Brenda, and Nathan Horn and wife, Myrtle, all of War, WV, Marvin Horn and wife, Fairy, of English, Ray Horn of English, with whom she made her home; sisters, Pauline Cavanaugh and Floreine Horn, both of Detroit, MI; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Pentecostal Holiness Church at #2 Yukon, WV, with the Rev. Charlie Barker officiating.
Interment will follow at Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, WV.

Roy F. Horn
Roy F. Horn, 67, of East Canton, OH, formerly of Buchanan County, died Oct. 12 in Auitman hospital following a long illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Nora Vandyke Horn.
He was an East Canton area resident for the past 32 years and retired from LTV Steel in 1982 after 22 years of service. He attended the Maplebrook Church of God, was a charter member of the American Sportsman?s Club, a member of the Mapleton Gun Club and was an avid hunter, shooter and horseman. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie Horn, Elmer Horn, Coy Horn and Hufford Horn; five sisters, Adna Smith, Margie Cantrell, Kansas Meadows, Queenie Lamb and Audrey Frances Kelly; and one daughter, Nora Sue Fairchild.
Survivors: wife of 41 years, Peggy Sue Irick Horn; sons, Roy (J.R.) Horn and wife, Konnie, of Minerva, OH, Randy Horn and wife, Tina, of East Canton; grandchildren, Heather Sue Early of Canton, Jorden Fairchild of Minerva; sister, Mrs. Herbert (Joy Sue) Short of Powhatan; and many friends with whom he shared his hobbies.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Mike Tyree officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mapleton Cemetery.

Arvin I. Lester
Arvin I. Lester, 78, of Woodbridge, formerly of Tazewell County, died Oct. 12 in a Alexandria nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late Grat W. and Della M. Vencill Lester, both Tazewell County natives.
He had made his home in the Woodbridge area for the past 20 years and was a retired farmer. He was a former member of the Belfast Community Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ollivene Patrick, Elizabeth Whitt and Dolly Anderson, and five brothers, Garman Lester, Warren Lester, Hubert Lester, Don Lester and Bob Lester.
Survivors: sisters, Evelene Deskins of Farmville, Louise Rupert of Woodbridge, and brothers, Marvin Lester of Belfast, Kenneth Lester of Newburn, and Eugene Lester of Farmville.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Shelby Boldt officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Dianna Gail Sparks Smeltzer, 51, of Amonate, died Oct. 16 in a Bristol, TN, hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of Rosa Bandy Altizer of Amonate, and the late Charlie Altizer.

The funeral will be conducted Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Danny Starling and Rev. Sammy Barnett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Altizer Family Cemetery on Whitaker Ridge near Bandy.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 17.

Coy L. Sword
Coy Lee Sword, 75, of the Kents Ridge road section of Cedar Bluff, died Oct. 11 in a Richlands hospital following an illness of several months.
Born in Corn Valley, he was the son of the late Elijah Harrison and Minnie Ethel Poston Sword, both Russell County natives.
He had made his home in the Tazewell County area most of his life and was retired from the Pounding Mill Quarry, having worked there for 32 years. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers.
Survivors: wife, Ruth C. Lester Sword; sisters, Thelma Bandy of Rising Sun, MD, Ethel Helton of Corn Valley; brother, Roy Clinton Sword of Old Fort, NC; and many special friends and relatives.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Carl Robinson officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Betty Lou Barrett
Betty Lou Helton Barrett, 66, of Honaker, died Oct. 22 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born in Elk Garden, she was a daughter of Ideal Hannah Helton of Rosedale and the late A.R. Helton.
She had spent most of her life in the Honaker area and was a member of the Swords Creek Community Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Choir and a Sunday School teacher. She was a senior sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one devoted uncle, Bill Hess.
Additional survivors: husband, Donald Lee Barrett; daughter, Lynda Barrett Hargroves of Bristol, TN; sons, Donald L. Barrett II and wife, Rose, of Sterling Heights, MI, Kenneth L. Barrett and wife, Nancy, of Abingdon; grandchildren, Joseph Matthew Clark, Elizabeth Anne Dolinger and husband, Charlie, Holly Barrett, Kristy Ramsey, Lori Barrett McGlothlin and husband, Daniel, Heather Barrett, Hannah Barrett Hargroves; great-grandchildren, Sidney Jarrod Dolinger, Samuel Clark Dolinger, Madison Brooke Ramsey; sisters, Elizabeth Helton Barrett of Honaker, Jeanette Helton Bita of Cleveland, OH, Anna James Helton of Chucky, TN; brothers, Hubert Helton of Detroit, MI, Hershall Helton of Kingsport, TN, Ed Helton of Jonesborough, TN; devoted aunt, Lillian Hannah Hess of Rosedale; beloved cousin, Frank Hess; and many beloved nephews, nieces and friends.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Swords Creek Community Church at Swords Creek with Bro. Leslie Ritchie officiating.
Interment followed in the Barrett Cemetery at Honaker.

Virginia Campbell
Virginia Campbell, 84, of Fairmont, WV, formerly of Richlands, died Oct. 21 in Fairmont following a lengthy illness.
Born in Honaker, she was the daughter of the late William Draden and Nora Elizabeth Reynolds Hooker.
She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life and was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Richlands. She was very active in the Richlands community and helped establish "Christmas Tree Hill."
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: son, Peter D. Campbell of Fairmont; grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell and Ann Arnold, both of Phoenix, AZ, Peter D. Campbell of Seattle, WA; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Father Tom Collins officiating.
Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands.

Cecil F. Gross
Cecil Floyd Gross, 78, of Richlands, died Oct. 22 in a Richlands hospital following a long illness.
Born in Russell County, he was the son of the late James Allen and Bertha Mae Hagy Gross.
He was retired from General Shale.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Gross, Carl Gross and Conley Gross.
Survivors: sisters, Katherine Marshall of Richlands, Pearl Marshall of Cedar Bluff, Beatrice Holmes of Swords Creek; and brothers, Clayton Gross of Richlands and Glen Gross of Doran.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Danny Houchins and Rev. Elmer Compton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill.

Arbutus Hale
Arbutus Hale, 53, of Oakwood, died Oct. 22 in a Richlands hospital following a long battle with cancer.
Born in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Jessie and Emma Perkins Hale.
A lifelong resident of the Swords Creek and Buchanan County areas, she was a member of the Perkins Chapel at Swords Creek.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Cordelia Drevyonk and Beulah Radvonkic; four brothers, Junior Hale, Ralph Hale, Marvin Hale and Edward Hale; and one grandson, Steven Chapman Jr.
Survivors: husband, Larry Hale; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Steven Chapman of Boone, NC, Shelia and David Perkins of Swords Creek; son, David Hale of Oakwood; sisters, Marie Beasley of Hammond, IN, Nadine Coleman of Pax, WV, Gayle Curtis and Shirley Regan, both of Maryville, TN; brother, Bobby Hale of Swords Creek; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel at Honaker with Rev. David Perkins and Bro. Junior Ray officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill.

Nelchene E. Sharpe
Nelchene Elizabeth Wilson Sharpe, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, died Oct. 23.
She was a native of Russell and Tazewell Counties in Virginia before making her home in Florida for 40 years. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Douglas Wilson and Hattie Ball Wilson; one brother, George Otis Wilson; one son, Tommy Douglas Lewis Wilson; and husband, William Sharpe Sr.
Survivors: sons, William Sharpe Jr. and Gregory Sharpe of Jackonville, FL; sister, Betty Jo McGlothlin of Cedar Bluff; brothers, Leslie E. Wilson of Cedar Bluff, Donald L. Wilson of Elizabethton, TN, and Daytona Beach, FL; granddaughters, Crystal O?Neil of Wichita, KS, Renee Sharpe and Rachel Sharpe, both of Jacksonville; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted Oct. 26 at Hardage-Gidden Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach.

Jackie Clifford Beavers, Jr., 41, of Pulaski, formerly of Bishop, died June 3 at Giles County.
Born in Tazewell, he was a son of Betty Jo Altizer Beavers of Tazewell and Jack Beavers, and wife, Carolyn of Kentucky.
He attended Dilce Combs High School in Perry County. He was employed by DBT America, Inc. of Hillsville.
Additional survivors: loving fiancée of two years, Linda Suthers of Pulaski; daughter, Misty Gail Beavers of Berea, KY; grandmother, Hallie Marie Altizer of Mudfork; sisters, Faye Tyree and husband, David, of Sanford, NC, Anita Harman of Floyd; brother, Billy Beavers and wife, Teresa, of Rockingham, NC; stepsister, Jacklyn Beavers of Kentucky; stepbrother, Chris Beavers of Kentucky; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and a multitude of friends.
The funeral was conducted June 8 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Lawrence Hayes officiating.
Burial followed at the Woodall Cemetery at Grassy Spur.

Johnny R. Brewster
Johnny Ralph Brewster, 46, of Bradshaw, WV, died June 5 at his residence in McDowell County, WV, following injuries sustained during an accident.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Carl and Jeanette Brewster of Pilgrim Knob.
He was a coal miner. He was a member of The Church of God at Bradshaw.
Additional survivors: wife of 22 years, Betty Sue Davis Brewster; son, John Aaron Brewster of Gatlinburg, TN; daughter, Shawna Michelle Brewster of the home; brothers, Jerry Brewster and wife, Jackie, of Richlands, Tommy Brewster and wife, Debbie, of Baistan; and sisters, Debbie Riordan and husband, Charles, of Pilgrim Knob, Donna Yates and husband, Wendell, of Vansant, Sherry Wagner and husband, Timmy, of Pilgrim Knob.
The funeral was conducted June 8 at 2 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel in Keen Mountain with Rev. Lacey Davis, Rev. Freddie Rife, Rev. Cassie Rife and Rev. Fred Rife Jr. officiating.
Burial followed in the Esaw Rife Cemetery at Keen Mountain.

Bertina (Judy) Cantrell
Bertina L. (Judy) Cantrell, 58, of Cliffield, died June 5 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Lydia Horn Osborne.
Survivors: husband of 39 years, John Lee Cantrell; daughter, Donna Bass of Cliffield; son, Gary Cantrell and wife, Linda, of Thompson Valley; grandchildren, Mason Colley, Leanna Cantrell and Steven Cantrell; sisters, Mrs. Lester (Delores) Meadows of Cliffield, Virginia (Doll) Stilwell and Juanita Stilwell, both of Raven, Mrs. Glen (Arlene) Boyd of Blountville, TN; and brothers, Joe Osborne and wife, Betty, and Jay Osborne and wife, Charlotte, all of Cliffield.

Josie Casey, 63, of Lebanon, formerly of Cedar Bluff, died June 6 in a Lebanon health care center.
Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late James and Margie Gross Keen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Casey; three infant sisters; one infant brother; one sister, Lucille Newberry Cox; and two brothers, Sherman Keen and Finley Keen.
Survivors: sons, Michael Casey and wife, Donna, of Pounding Mill, Derek Casey of Superior, WI; special sisters, Eva Goins Wright of Richlands, Mrs. Roger (Princess) Brown of Raven; brothers, Gordon Keen of Pounding Mill, Roger Keen of Baptist Valley; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Casey, Sarah Casey and Michelle Casey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Dorcie Newberry; and special niece, Teresa Newberry Binns.

Maged J. Farah, MD
Maged J. Farah, MD, 47, of Tazewell, died June 3 at a Richlands hospital.
Born at Gaza, Palestine, he was a son of the late Jawwad and Evelyn Madbak Farah.
Doctor Farah had made his home in Tazewell County for the past 15 years. He was an Endocrinologist at Clinch Valley Medical Center Plaza for over 15 years. He attended St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Bluefield, WV. He was a member of the Endocrinology Medical Association and the Diabetes Association.
Survivors: wife, Heba A. Farah; daughter, Evelyn Farah of the home; son, Gaby Farah of the home; sisters, Ghada Farah of United Arab Emirates, Mona Farah of Gaza, Palestine; brothers, Maher Farah of France, Saad Farah of United Arab Emirates, Nasser Farah of Gaza, Palestine; and his patients he has seen throughout the years of his practice.
The funeral was conducted June 8 at 2 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Tazewell with Father Mark Tyson officiating.
Interment followed in Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, VA.
