Betty C. Waldron, 71, of the Dry Fork area of North Tazewell, died Apr. 24 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell.
Born Aug. 10, 1934 at Excelsior, WV, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Sophia Snow Warf.
She was a member of the Adria Advent Christian Church and was active in the Association for Retarded Citizens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nell Powers, Roberta McClanahan, and Vanetta Clark, and four brothers, Delmar Warf, Bernard (Bernie) Warf, Kemper Warf, and W.D. (Desmond) Warf.
Survivors: husband, Ay Waldron; daughters, Rita Chandler of Tazewell, Brenda K. Waldron of the home; sons, Freddie L. Entombment followed at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Leona Head Wingo
Leona Head Wingo, 81, of Canebrake, WV, died Apr. 29 at a Bluefield, WV hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born at Grandfather Mountain, NC, and was a daughter of the late Carlos Head and Janette Hoseclaw Head.
She had made her home in the Canebrake area all her life. She was a housewife and also a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake.
She was the widow of George Wesley Wingo, who preceded her in death in 1991. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Wingo; one son-in-law, Willie Click; one granddaughter, Joanna Hagy; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors: daughters, Brenda Sue Shrewsbury and husband, Ace J., of Princeton, WV, Jennifer Denise Click of Canebrake, with whom she made her home; sons, George Wingo, Jr. and wife, Evelyn Jo, of Middletown, DE, Donald Richard Wingo and wife, Patricia, of Squire, WV, James Thomas Wingo and wife, Dollie, of Yadkinville, NC, Edward Lee Wingo and wife, Helen, of Canebrake; sister, Virginia Head and Bill of West Jefferson, NC; sisters-in-law, Hester Head of Glade Spring, Eulane Head of Newark, DE; 12 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren

Cleo Marie Bradley
Cleo Marie Bradley, 77, of North Tazewell, died May 7 at a Bristol, TN, hospital following a brief illness.
Born at Amonate, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Blanch Shrader Altizer.
She had made her home at North Tazewell and was a loving housewife. She was a member of the Appalachian Agency of Senior Citizens and also Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church, Canebrake, WV.
She was the widow of Harold Bradley. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Verlin Altizer, and one nephew, Larry Karnes.
Survivors: sister, Catherine Karnes of Baptist Valley, with whom she made her home; sister-in-law, Ann Altizer of Abingdon; two nieces; five nephews; and a host of friends.
The funeral will be conducted May 11 at 1 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell with Rev. Darrell Long officiating.
Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA.
The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 67, Berwind, WV 24815.

Lizzie Melinda Dye
Lizzie Melinda Dye, 87, of Oakwood, died May 6 in a Richlands hospital.
Born Mar. 10, 1919 in Swords Creek, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Tiny Perkins Miller.
She was raised in the Swords Creek area and had lived in Buchanan County since 1940. She was a member of the Guiding Light Freewill Baptist Church at Mavisdale.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Quinton Edward Dye; one daughter, Rose Marie Dye; five brothers, Claude Miller, Bazzie Miller, Carlos (Pete) Miller, Harley (Penny) Miller and Glenn (Doc) Miller; and three sisters, Minnie Hubbard, Elsie Miller, and Hazel Taylor.
Survivors: husband of 63 years, Rev. James Edward Dye; sons, Millard Dye and wife, Peggy, Harold Dye and wife, Rita, and Wade Dye and fiancée, Pam, all of Oakwood, Bruce Dye and wife, Rose, of Patterson; daughter-in-law, Norma Dye of Oakwood; brother, Junior Miller of Honaker; sister, Gladys Ray of Swords Creek; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 10 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Troy Harris and Rev. Sonny Perkins officiating.
Interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery at Drill.

John W. Gephart, Jr.
John W. Gephart, Jr., Captain with the Virginia State Police, died May 6 at his home in New Kent, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Captain Gephart was born Aug. 24, 1946 in Quincy, FL.
He began his career with the Virginia State Police as a trooper in July 1974. In his 32-year career, he served numerous positions, the last being the Division Commander of the Criminal Intelligence Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Gephart Sr. and Kathryn B. Gephart.
Survivors: loving wife, Vickie A. Gephart; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Mason of Stephens City, and their daughter, Ashley; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Michael Buzzard of Richmond and their sons, Eric and Riley; stepson, Samuel E. Davis of New Kent; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Michael Cox of Headland, AL; sister and brother-in-law, CeCe and Charlie Barr of Chipley, FL; sister, Debbie Benton of Tallahassee, FL; along with many loving aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The funeral was conducted May 9 at Fairmount Christian Church in Mechanicsville at 11 a.m. with Lt. Steve Lambert officiating.
Interment was at Washington Memorial Park.

Raymond Hart
Raymond Hart, 70, of the Baptist Valley area of North Tazewell, died May 8 at his home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell.

Dewey Johnson
Dewey Johnson, 66, of Honaker, died May 3 at a Lebanon hospital.
Born May 26, 1939 in Council, he was a son of the late Ezra and Mary Ball Johnson.
A lifelong resident of the Buchanan and Russell County areas, he attended the Freewill Baptist Church. He was formerly employed as a fitter welder for Simmons-Rand for 23 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Johnson and Gilmer Johnson, and three sisters, Lovis Whitt, Trula Lowe and Willmer Johnson.
Survivors: wife, Glenna Johnson; daughter, Teresa Whitt of Cedar Bluff; son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Brenda Fitzgerald of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Joseph Whitt and Morgan Fitzgerald; brothers, Daniel Johnson of Jewell Ridge, Ashby Johnson of Ohio; sisters, Fonnie Baldwin and Wanda Johnson, both of Council, Beulah Whitt of Jewell Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Elijah Johnson
Elijah Johnson, 84, of the Combs Ridge section of Council, died May 2 in a Bristol, TN, hospital.
Born June 5, 1921 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Eshmel and Canzada Stevens Johnson.
He had spent most of his life in the area and was of the Free Will Baptist faith. He was a veteran with the United States Army, having served during World War II.He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by U.S. Steel and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Attley Johnson, Lonnie Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Herman Johnson, and Rufus Johnson.
Survivors: wife, Eva Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Paul Howard Lester of Council; grandson, Eric Nicholas Johnson of Council; brothers, Ellis Johnson of Bluefield, Kermit Johnson of Tazewell, Daniel Johnson of Honaker; sister, Lethia Johnson Hale of Tazewell; special caregiver, Shirley O’Quinn; special nurses, Jennifer Taylor, Edna Honeycutt, and Brenda Duty; and one special aide, Patty Cook.

Margie Lea Mabe
Margie Lea Mabe, 47, of North Tazewell, died May 4 at her home.
Born Dec. 20, 1958 in Bluefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas Wooldridge and Mary Lea Tillet Wooldridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Clayton Otto Mabe, and one brother, Thomas Ray Woodridge.
Survivors: husband, Johnny J. Mabe; sister, Clara Jane Patton and husband, Jerry, of Baptist Valley; brothers, Grant Thomas Wooldridge and wife, Geneva, of North Tazewell, Teddy Otto Wooldridge and wife, Malinda, of Richlands; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. May 6 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell.
Burial followed in Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, VA.

Bradley E. Pennington
Bradley E. Pennington, 23, of North Tazewell, died May 5 at his home.
Born Feb. 1, 1983 at Bluefield, WV, he was the son of Gary E. Pennington and Jennifer K. Sparks Pennington of Tazewell.
He was a graduate of Tazewell High School and the Tazewell County Career and Technical Center where he became a small engine mechanic and was Student of the Year. He received numerous awards in the VICA competitions throughout the state. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and dog lover.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charlie Eugene Pennington; maternal grandfather, Dallas A. Sparks; and one aunt, Carol J. Sparks.
Additional survivors: sister, Nicole Pennington of the home; paternal grandmother, Mildred Pennington of Tazewell; maternal grandmother, Iris E. Sparks of North Tazewell; several uncles, aunts, cousins; and his dogs, Mattie Girl and Little One that he dearly loved.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 10 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Lawrence Hayes, Dallas Sparks, William Sparks, and James Sparks officiating.
Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.

Joan Hale Street
Joan Hale Street, 69, of Route 1, Lebanon, went to meet the Lord May 4 at the Hospice House at Wellmont in Bristol, TN.
Born Oct. 18, 1936 in Council, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Hazel Ball Hale.
She had lived most of her life in the Southwest Virginia area, but she also spent a number of years in Nashville, TN. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be sorely missed by those who love her.She greeted the world with a big smile and kind words.
Survivors: husband of 53 years, Donald Street; son, Donald Street, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Nashville; granddaughters, Leslie Street and Kelley Street, both of Nashville; brother, Jerald Hale of Council; sister, Donna Hale and husband, J.C., of Council; special nephew, Gregory Hale and wife, Tina, of Council; special niece, Sharon Davis of Oakwood; special grandniece, Tonya Buchanan of Lebanon; special great-grandniece, AliGrace Buchanan of Lebanon; sisters-in-law, Draper Street, Darlis Street, and Georgia Street; special friends, Lynda Hamm, Janie Hale, Joyce Lambert, Debbie Lockhart, Harold and Audrey Compton, and Deane Bostic who helped so much during her illness; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and members of her Rosedale Baptist Church family.

Mary Alice Wynn
Mary Alice Wynn, 90, of Tazewell, died May 7 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell.
Born May 31, 1915 at Wilco, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ernest William Asbury and Cora Belle Lee Asbury.
She was a member of the Adria Advent Christian Church at Adria. She was a graduate of Richlands High School and Emory & Henry College. She taught school in Tazewell County Public Schools for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Asbury and Carl Asbury.
Survivors: son, Ernest William Wynn and wife, Katy, of North Tazewell; granddaughter, Monique VanVuren and husband, Raymond, of Terra Haute, IN; grandson, Ernest William Wynn, Jr. and wife, Christie, of Magnolia, TX; great grandsons, Ryan Wynn and Ethan Wynn; several cousins; numerous friends; and the compassionate caregivers at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. May 10 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Kenneth Gillespie officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service May 10.

Ethel Virginia Barrett
Ethel Virginia Shrader Barrett, 89, of Yards, departed her earthly home May 10.
Born June 21, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Dillon Shrader and Larissa Riley Shrader of Mud Ford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Emmett Barrett, who died in 1971; one great granddaughter, Michalya Baugh; one step-grandson, P.J. Tackett; four brothers, Grat, George, Elmore and Claude Shrader; and four sisters, Myrtle Myers, Pearl Sheppard, Martha Adkins and Shirley Swim. She was the last surviving member of this family.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who leaves wonderful memories of family dinners, where every Sun. became a holiday.
She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church, Yards. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Nemours Nursing Home. She will be missed by many, but never forgotten. She was a caring and giving neighbor and friend to many, preparing meals for shut-ins, making sure the birds always had food and always thinking of other before herself. Heaven surely has a special place reserved for her.
Left to cherish her memory are five children and their spouses: sons, Harold Barrett and wife, Gayle, of Falls Mills, Harry D. "Buck" Barrett and wife, Wanda, of Pocahontas; daughters, Lucille Mitchell and husband, Roy, of Bluewell, WV, Carolyn Truman and husband, Michael, of Falls Mills, Connie Howell of Green Valley, WV.
To grandchildren Jack Mitchell, Kathy Miller and Melissa Shupe she was Granny, to Edd Barrett and Jason Barrett she was Grandma, to Eric Baugh she was Mamaw and to Rick Jackson and Brad Truman she was Nana. Her eight great grandchildren are Jacob and Jimi Miller, Josh and John Mitchell, Junior and Brandon Shupe, Eric Baugh and Gabi and Gage Jackson. She has two great great granddaughters, Megan and Skylar Mitchell. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cumby of Bluefield, WV; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. May 13 at Dudley Funeral Home, Bluefield, VA, with Rev. Raymond Klaiber, Rev. Ted Anders and Rev. Johnny Elmore officiating.
Burial followed at Grandview Memory Gardens.

Mildred Williams Bostic
Mildred Williams Bostic, 79, of Abbs Valley, died May 10 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands.
Born March 14, 1927 in Tazewell County, she was a daughter of the late John H. Williams and Lillie Cornwell Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Bostic; one son, Robert Bostic; one sister, Cara Bostic; and two brothers, Arthur Williams and Aaron Williams.
Survivors: her children, Bruce Bostic and wife, JoAnn, of Nemores, WV, Pamela Thompson and husband, Michael, of Delaware; sisters, Fannie Thompson and Lola McDermitt and husband, Jim, all of Abbs Valley, Gladys Funk and husband, Gerald, of Townsend, DE; brothers, Roy Williams and wife, Adena, Wiley Williams and wife, Dottie, and Freeman Williams and wife, Maxie, all of Abbs Valley; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. May 13 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell with the Rev. Paul Baker officiating.

Mary Marlene Boyd
Mary Marlene Boyd, 65, of the Hidden Valley section of Richlands, died May 11 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late Donald E. and Mary Kay Lester Stilwell.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a volunteer at the Community Action Center for Senior Citizens. She was of the Holiness faith and her favorite hobby was working crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Boyd, and one brother, Billy Joe Stilwell.
Survivors: daughter, Jeanette Cantrell and husband, Mike, of Pounding Mill; sons, Craig Boyd and wife, Loretta, of Doran, Eddie D. Boyd and wife, Tonya, of Richlands; sister, Ramona K. Mays of Tazewell; brothers, Allen Stilwell and wife, Louise, of Raven, Donald E. Stilwell, Jr. and wife, Peg, of Delaware; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and special friends, Linda Pendergrass and Nancy Monk.
The funeral was conducted May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Johnnie Kibbey officiating.

Sarah Jo Brown
Sarah Jo Brown, 54, of Tazewell, died May 13 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born June 9, 1951 in Tazewell, she was a daughter of Joann Lambert Kinder of Tazewell and the late Glen E. Kinder.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Brown, and one brother, Keith Kinder.
Additional survivors: sons, David Brown of Philadelphia, PA, Chad M. Brown and wife, Michelle, of North Tazewell; sisters, Deborah Rudd of Castlewood, Susan Jones and husband, Larry, of Draper; grandchildren, Natasha Brown and John Brown; two nephews; one niece; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special caregivers, Lucille Gibson, Mary Ann Matney of Tazewell Community Hospital, Tazewell Community Hospital Home Health, and Dr. Stephen Rinehart.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. May 17 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Guy Altizer officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service May 17.

Virginia Amanda Calloway
May 5 at 7:10 a.m. God silently reached down and touched Virginia A. Craft Calloway at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bluefield, WV. She was born Jan. 22, 1923 at Bluefield, WV to John and Louise Wishman Craft.
She attended public school in Tazewell County. She was a former resident of Tip Top until 1959 when she moved to Bishop where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church at Bishop, where she loved to hear the choir sing "The Blood".
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Calloway, five sisters, four brothers, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Survivors: sons, Charles Calloway, Jr. and wife, Bonita, of Columbus, OH, William Calloway and wife, Deborah, of Moneta, Wendell Calloway of Detroit, MI, John Calloway of California, and Robert Calloway of Christiansburg; daughters, Charlotte I. Merriman and husband, Ed, of Columbus, OH, Mary Calloway of Yonkers, NY, Elizabeth Calloway of Detroit; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and brother-in-law, Frank Calloway of Tazewell.

Ershel "Pops" T. Dye
Ershel "Pops" Truedell Dye, 84, of Lynchburg, died May 9 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1922 in Russell County, he was the son of the late Ira Dye and the late Gracie Mae Vance Dye.
He was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church and served his country during WWII on D-Day with the US Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William E. Dye in 2005; one great granddaughter, Mary Katlen Dye; and one brother, Ira Dye, Jr.
Survivors: wife of 60 years, Anna Louise Patrick Dye; five children, Vickie D. Moore and husband, Wayne, of Lynchburg, Ricky C. Dye and fiancée, Shelby, of Lynchburg, Nicky Dye and wife, Donna, of Madison Heights, Debra D. Seufert and husband, Dusty, of Rustburg, Sandra D. Carter and close friend, William, of Lynchburg; daughter-in-law, Marie Dye of Forest; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; brother, Harold Dye of Richlands; sisters, Edith Trublood of Coinjock, NC, Betty Monroe of Augusta, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Rev. Charlie and Helen Spencer.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m., May 11 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. Charlie Spencer.
Interment, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16, followed in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Whitten Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Timberlake Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

Lorene Faye Eakin
Lorene Faye Eakin, 54, of 8 Cashmill Place, died May 8 at her home.
Born Aug. 23, 1951 in Russell County, she was a daughter of Tolbert Harris of Honaker and the late Alice Belcher Harris.
She was a member of the Concord Brethren Church in Fairfield and Vesuvius Community Association.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, June Harris, and two brothers, Cecil Glen Harris and Roy Roger Harris.
Additional survivors: husband, Bob Eakin of the home; brothers, James C. Harris and wife, Barbara, of Wetumpka, AL, Darrell Harris and wife, Faye, of Honaker, John W. Harris and wife, Wanda, of Newport News; sisters, Anna Pearl Ball and husband, Eb, of Brooklet, GA, Carroll Musick and husband, Joe, of Charles City, Patricia Helton and husband, Danny, of Williamsburg; five step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. May 12 at Honaker Funeral Home with Rev. Giles Wilson officiating.
Interment followed in the Harris Family Cemetery.

Raymond Hart
Raymond Hart, 70, of the Baptist Valley area of North Tazewell, died May 8 at his home.
Born July 29, 1935 in Russell County, he was a son of June Turner Hart of Elizabethan, TN and the late Giles Hart.
He was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church at North Tazewell. He was the owner – operator of Cliff’s Service Station at Adria for 30 years.
Additional survivors: wife, Shirley Bandy Hart; son, Larry Hart and wife, Melanie, of Eighty Four, PA; grandsons, Nathan Hart and Daniel Hart; and sister, Zelma Lee Hollins of Elizabethan.
The funeral was conducted May 11 at 8 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Hart and the Rev. Kenneth Gillespie officiating.
Graveside services and interment were conducted at 11 a.m. May 12 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Emma Gay Johnson
Emma Gay Johnson, 79, of Maple Gap, died May 14 at her home.
Born Jan. 3, 1929 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Troy Arthur Shelton and Sally Elizabeth Johnson Colley.
She had lived in Maple Gap for the past 50 years and was a member of the Faith in Christ Free Will Baptist Church at Bee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Colley, Ferrell Colley, Arson Colley, Clifford Colley, and Edward Colley, and two sisters, Shadie Gayhart and Nellie Rife.
Survivors: husband of 56 years, Benjamin Andrew Johnson; sons, Benjamin Franklin Johnson and wife, Leanna Michelle, of Maple Gap, Wilburn Scott Johnson and wife, Lisa Harmon, of Lebanon; daughter, Reba Faye Seth and husband, Roger, of Canton, MI; brothers, Junior Ayres Colley of Richlands, Bob Shelton of Fort Wayne, IN, Eugene Shelton of Maple Gap; sisters, Betty Sargent of Jacksonville, NC, Janie Church of Buchanan County, Marylou Taylor of Georgia; grandchildren, Christina Grim, Kandy Korona, Richard Seth, Bobby Johnson, Catina Johnson, Savannah Johnson, and Zane Johnson; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 17 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Mike Dye officiating.
Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon.
Friends may call at the funeral home at anytime prior to the funeral hour.

William "Bill" Johnson
William "Bill" Henson Johnson, 75, of Bristol, VA, died May 9 in Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
Born Feb. 3, 1931 in Russell County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Madie Fuller Johnson.
He had spent his early life in Russell County and had moved to Bristol 25 years ago. He was formerly employed as an auto body repairman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, B.J. Johnson; three brothers, Denny Johnson, Lundy Johnson, and Tobia Johnson; and two sisters, Lecta Anna Johnson and Euna Mae Hess.
Survivors: brother, George Johnson of Detroit, MI; special nieces, Carolyn Mumpower of Bristol, VA, Gail Warren of Abingdon; special friends, Mack Ray and Garland Honaker, both of Honaker; special caregivers, Lee Rasnake, Lora Johnson, Margaret, and the Wellmont Hospice House nurses and staff; and several additional nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. May 12 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Harless Hess and Bro. Mike Warren officiating.
Interment followed in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon.

Linda Carol Keen
Linda Carol Keen, 56, of Raven, died May 14 in a Johnson City, TN, hospital.
Born Aug. 5, 1949 in Richlands, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Dorothy McGlothlin Cantrell.
She was a teacher for the Buchanan County School System.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Dwayne Edward Keen, and one brother, Donald Cantrell.
Survivors: husband, James K. Keen; sons, Jim Keen of Fort Monmouth, NJ, Chris Keen of the home; sisters, Connie Harris of Madison Heights, Nancy Cunningham of Pounding Mill; half brother, Randall Cantrell of Johnson City; and step mother, Vernie (Rose) Cantrell of Whitewood.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. May 17 at Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain with Rev. Troy Lester officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cantrell Cemetery at Horn Mountain.
