Rev. Jessie Miller
Rev. Jessie Miller, 74, of the Gardener section of Swords Creek, died Aug. 6 at his residence.
Born Dec. 14, 1931 in Russell County, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Leona Crouse Miller.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Swords Creek Block Church. He was a devoted Christian and had spent 40 years in the ministry, during which time he served as pastor at various churches throughout the community.
He was a retired coal miner having been employed by Clinchfield Coal Company until his retirement in 1974 and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 1426. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lacy Miller, and one infant brother.
Survivors: wife of 53 years, Mildred Elaine Honaker Miller; children, Diann Munsey and her husband, Tim, of Claypool Hill, Pam Stinson and husband, Glen, and Barry Miller and wife, Ginger, all of Honaker, Jerl Miller and wife, Connie, of Patterson, Sandy Whitt and husband, Doug, of Swords Creek; eight grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; sister, Roberta Hylton of Canton, OH; twin brother, Justin Miller of Honaker; brothers, Houston Miller, Preston Miller, Harold Lee Miller and Stevie Miller, all of Swords Creek; special friends, Dr. Raymond Bishop and the nurses and staff of Intrepid Home Health Care; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Robinson, Rev. James Tiller and Rev. Dennis White officiating.
Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Andy Winfred Newberry
Andy Winfred Newberry, 63, of Swords Creek, died Aug. 3, following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 12, 1942 in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late Winfred Walter and Ida Bell Short Newberry.
He attended Horton Ridge Church of God. He was a retired coal miner and served in the National Guard.
Survivors: sons, Eric Newberry of Richlands, Ernie Newberry of Swords Creek; sisters, Frances Hill and husband, Hubert, of Swords Creek, Helen Street of Raven, Janice Sue Lawson and husband, Denny, of Doran; brothers, Roger Newberry and wife, Sue, and Glen Newberry, all of Richlands, Walter (Junior) Newberry and wife, Cindy, of Chicago, IL, Hubert Newberry of Doran; three grandchildren; and special friend, Nancy Belton.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 6 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Jess Whited officiating.
Burial followed in the Newberry Cemetery at Horton Ridge.

Ruth I. Presley
Ruth I. Presley, 79, of the Baptist Valley area of North Tazewell, died Aug. 5 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1926 in McDowell County, WV, she was a daughter of Goldie Rose of North Tazewell and the late George W. Rose.
She was a faithful member of Central Church of Christ in Baptist Valley.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Presley.
Survivors: mother, Goldie Rose of North Tazewell; sons, Ronald Presley and wife, Barbara, of North Tazewell, Roger Presley of Squim, WA; brothers, Don Rose and wife, Hester, and Harold "Sonny" Rose and wife, Faye, all of North Tazewell; sisters, Juanita Murray of Ocala, FL, Marie Stone and husband, Ralph, of Nashville, TN, Pauline Clance and husband, Lanier, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Edward Presley and wife, Joy, of Maurertown, Ronda Veltema and husband, Ben, of Byron Center, MI; and great grandchildren, Kallin Presley, Jakob Presley, and Emma Veltema.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell. The service was conducted by Mrs. Presley’s family.
The committal service followed Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA.

Hattie Mae Price
Hattie Mae Price, 67, of Welch, WV, formerly of Grundy, and Bristol, TN, died July 31 at Welch Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of Pearl Carton Graybeal of Richlands, and the late George McCoy.
She was a resident of Buchanan County for several years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She had been employed as a hostess, cashier and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee (Yogi) Price – July 31, 2000; one infant brother; special friend and caregiver, Cathy Noe of Welch, WV; and special C.N.A., Jackie Sluss of Mercer County.
Survivors: daughter, Belinda Carr of Welch, WV; sister, Margaret C. (Judy) McCoy of South Park, PA; grandchildren, Tanisha Carr of Welch, WV, George Carr, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; and great-grandchildren, Tia, Tariq and Timothy Carr, Welch, WV.
Mausoleum services were conducted Aug. 2 at 12 noon at Forest Hill Mausoleum, Forest Hill Cemetery, Abingdon, by Evg. Mike Rife.
Entombment followed in Forest Hill Mausoleum.
Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy was in charge of all arrangements.

Raymond Miller Proffitt
Raymond Miller Proffitt, 94, of Richlands, died July 31 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Red Ash, he was the son of the late Charlie and Lettie Shelton Proffitt, both Tazewell County natives.
He had spent his entire life in the area and was of the Holiness Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Proffitt, three brothers and five sisters.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors: daughters, Alma Whited and husband, Mack, of Rosedale, Debbie Proffitt of Richlands; sons, Johnny Proffitt and wife, Annie, of Pilgrim Knob, James Proffitt and wife, Diana, of Thompson Valley, Reece Proffitt and wife, Vicki, of Rowe, Mike Proffitt and wife, Bernice, of Feds Creek, KY; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends and caregivers, Russell County Hospice.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Tim Lester and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating.
Interment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill.

Joyce Anne Pruett
Joyce Anne Pruett, 64, of Oxnard CA, formerly of Bishop, died Aug. 2 at the home of her companion, Donald Dittmann.
Born Jan 28, 1942, she was the daughter of Lance S. and Gladys Ramsey Pruett of Bishop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald L Pruett and Randall W. Pruett, and one sister, Brenda P. Gore.
Survivors: son, Ronald S. Wilfong of Butler, KY; daughter, Melissia W. Regis and son-in-law, Kevin Regis of Lake Jackson TX; grandchildren, Charlotte and Eddie Wilfong, Mary, Keegan, Meghan, and Koy Regis; sister, Norma Jean Scammell and brother-in-law, Frank Scammell, Jr. of Bishop; very special niece, Tonya DeGallery of Spotsylvania; and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield VA.

Donald June Reynolds
Donald June Reynolds, 54, of North Tazewell, died Aug. 2 at his home.
Born at Richlands July 13, 1952, he was a son of Helen Slate Reynolds of Richlands and the late Charlie Edward Reynolds, Jr.
He had made his home at North Tazewell for the past 18 years and his entire life in Tazewell County. He was a graduate of Richlands High School, Class of 1973. He was Associate Manager for American General Life and Accident. He was a member of Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF & AM, Roanoke Area Scottish Rite, Kazim Shrine Center in Roanoke and the Tazewell-Russell Shrine Club.
He was a member of Riverside Community Church of North Tazewell. He was a loving husband, and a devoted father and friend to his children.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Darrell Reynolds, and his mother-in-law, Gay VanDyke.
Survivors: loving wife of 27 years, Anita VanDyke Reynolds; daughter, Doniell Reynolds of the home; son, Lance Corporal James Donald Reynolds and wife, Melissa Ann, of Jacksonville, NC; sisters, Brenda Johnson and husband, Allen, of Richlands, Carolyn Whitt and husband, Richard, of Rosedale, Wanda White and husband, R. Osie Alva Smith
Osie Alva Smith, 93, of Culpeper, died July 31 at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1912 in Welch, WV, to the late James Samuel and Betty Brewster Mullins.
She was a member of the Richlands Presbyterian Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin Smith; two sons, Harry R. Smith and Ronnie Smith; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors: son, Harold Smith and wife, Doris, of Richmond; daughters-in-law, Mary Smith of Stafford, Barbara Smith of Cleveland, OH; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Smith Family Cemetery on Smith Ridge in Tazewell County with Pastor Jerry Casey officiating.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper was in charge of arrangements.

Pamela Sue Sparks
Pamela Sue Newberry Sparks, 34, of Richlands, died Aug. 6 at a Johnson City hospital following a sudden illness.
She was born in Point Pleasant, NJ and was the daughter of Arlene Cantrell Newberry and the late Harold William Newberry.
She had spent most of her life in the area, and was a graduate of Richlands High Class of 1990. She had graduated from SVCC Nursing program and was a registered nurse and had attended Reynolds Ridge Community Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alvie Newberry, and maternal grandparents, George F. and Margie Horn Cantrell.
Survivors: husband, Gary R. Sparks, Jr. of Richlands; daughters, Brittany Nicole Sparks and Andrea Renee Sparks, both of the home; son, Austene Ryan Sparks of the home; mother, Arlene Cantrell Newberry of Road Ridge of Raven; sisters, Karen Newberry of Road Ridge of Raven, Donna Keen and husband, Les, of North Carolina; and grandmother, Mae Newberry of Road Ridge, Raven.
The funeral will be conducted at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Crawford officiating.
Interment will follow at the Ferrell Family Cemetery on Horn Mountain.

Ronald "Chisel" Thomas
Ronald Lee "Chisel" Thomas, 49, of the Flatrock section of Honaker, died Aug. 5 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1956 in Richlands, he was a son of the late Basil and Trula Mae Clark Thomas.
He had spent his early life in Buchanan County prior to moving to Honaker and attended Living Waters Church of God in Baptist Valley. A disabled coal miner, he was formerly employed at Beatrice Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Carol Deel and Teresa Ann Thomas; his maternal grandparents, Rev. Jay and Louisia Clark; his paternal grandparents, Dale Thomas and Gracie Thomas Dye; his step grandfather, B.E. Dye; and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors: lifetime companion, Loretta Breedlove; son, Austin Lee Thomas; brothers, Harold Dean Thomas and Dallas Wayne Thomas, both of Flatrock, Ricky Jay Thomas and wife, Crystal, of Honaker; sister, Connie Dale Lloyd and husband, Steven, of Cleveland; nieces, Heather Renee Deel, Amber Cierra Thomas, Michelle "Mack" Jones and Alexis Brianna Deel Mullis; nephews, Ricky C.B. Wilma Jean Barber
Wilma Jean Whited Barber, 42, of Raven, died Aug. 9 at her home following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 5, 1963 in Richlands, she was the daughter of Ruby and Willard Whited of Raven.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Whited; grandparents, Cecil Plaster, Carl Horton, Felix Whited, Mary Hess Whited; and step grandmother, Maggie Sparks Whited.
Additional survivors: husband, John Barber; daughters, Amanda Whited and Elizabeth Greene, both of Raven; brother, Russell Whited and wife, Cindy, of Cedar Bluff; special nephew, D.J. Jeter; special nieces, Nicole and Keisha Whited; grandmother, Virginia Mae Plaster of Swords Creek; and a host of friends.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Clyde Ball officiating.

Mary (Darby) Brown
Mary Elizabeth (Darby) Brown, 67, of Richlands, died Aug. 12 at her home following an extended illness.
Born at Pounding Mill, she was the daughter of the late Walter Marion Harris and Clara V. Ringstaff Harris.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Richlands First Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, George William Brown, Jr.; one daughter, Glenna Sue Cox; and one brother, Glenn Skip Harris.
Survivors: sons, Mike Brown and wife, Rhonda, of Paintlick; Robert (Bob) Brown and wife, Kathy, of Wardell, Richard Brown and wife, Teri, of Richlands; brother, Jerry Harris and wife, Shirley, of Cedar Bluff; grandchildren, Michelle Jackson, John Cox, Katie Brown, Hunter Brown, Landon Brown and Spencer Brown; great grandchildren, Lindsey Cox and Ethan Cox; special friends, employees of Preferred Hospice; caregivers, Bobbi Baxter, Natalie Lynn, Eve Lewis; and a host of friends and neighbors.

Garry Daniel Combs
Garry Daniel Combs, 62, of the Finney section of Honaker, died Aug. 12 at his home.
Born March 19, 1944 in Russell County, he was a son of the late Charles Brady and Olivia Charm Crabtree Combs.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was formerly employed at the American Electric Power plant at Carbo, prior to becoming disabled.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Daniel Combs, Jr.
Survivors: wife of 40 years, Retha Barton Combs; sons, Charles David Combs, Terry Dean Combs and Mark Allen Combs, all of Finney; daughter, Retha Gail Musick of Council; brothers, Harley Combs, Joseph Combs, Jim Combs, Larry Combs, Wayne Combs, Robert Combs and Carter Combs; sister, Billie Dove Barton; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. Aug. 14 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Fairley Spencer officiating.
Interment followed in the Combs Family Cemetery in Finney.

Roger Lee Cordle
Roger Lee Cordle, 63, died peacefully at his home in Yucaipa, CA, July 25, following an extended battle with cancer.
Born and reared in Seaboard, he was a son of the late Earnest and Lucille Cordle.
He attended Tazewell County schools and graduated from Richlands High School in 1960. To the end he remained a loyal Blue Tornado fan and kept up with his beloved "Blues" all through the years.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served honorably for four years. After his discharge from the Air Force in 1964, he served for many years as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Riverside County, CA. He had held other jobs prior to his death.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an older brother, Richard P. Cordle, who died in May of 2000.
Survivors: brother, Ronald J. Cordle and wife, Alice, of Belfast; half-sister, Ann Head, of Hall, TN; a grandson in California; a granddaughter in Ohio; several nieces and nephews in Virginia; very special friends in California, Norman Briggs of Yucaipa and Travis and Lori McElyea of Riverside, CA. They were his best friends in his later years, and they loved and nurtured him through his final ordeal.
The funeral was held Aug. 7 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, where he was buried with military honors and now rests in peace.
Funeral services were conducted by Aaron Cremation & Burial Services, Mark B. Shaw Chapel, of San Bernardino, CA.

Robert L. "Bobby" Dellinger
Robert L. "Bobby" Dellinger, 80, of Manassas, died Aug. 7 at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Lightfoot, Lil Lochte and Mary Hatter.
Survivors: wife of 57 years, Irene Martin Dellinger; children, Diane Hartson of Fort Valley, David Dellinger and wife, Mary, of Manassas, Debra Davis and husband, Jack, of Tazewell; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Josephine Clark.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manassas.
Interment followed at Stonewall Memory Gardens.

Herbert Hale
Herbert Hale, 82, of Davenport, died Aug. 11 in a Grundy hospital.
Born Feb. 4, 1924 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Marion and Maude Lockhart Hale.
A lifelong resident of the Davenport area, he was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church. He was a retired welder having been employed by Epling Manufacturing in Grundy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Lockhart Hale, and one daughter, Vicky Collins.
Survivors: daughters, Dianne Hyatt of Warrenton, Darlene Thompson of Fairfax Station; son, Rick Hale of Davenport; sisters, Ora Newton of Portsmouth, Gola Presley of Davenport; brother, Carl Hale of Dayton, OH; grandson, Michael Hyatt of Herndon; great grandson, Tyler Hyatt of Herndon; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 12 noon Aug. 14 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Burmeier officiating.
Interment followed in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.

Roberta M. Jackson
Roberta M. Jackson, 79, of Belfast, died Aug. 7 at her home following a brief illness.
Born Sept 29, 1926 in Belfast, she was the daughter of the late Bryan Robinson and Bess Robinson Cox.
She spent her entire life being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed every minute of it. She was a member of the Belfast-Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She attended Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Fields; grandson, Michael Steffey; twin great grandsons, William Gregory Taylor and Jonathan Scott Taylor; one brother, Jack Robinson; and one sister, Elizabeth West. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
Survivors: loving husband of 63 years, Arthur M. Jackson; daughters, Barbara Taylor and husband, Harvey, and Linda Patrick and husband, Tom, all of Belfast; grandchildren, Scott Taylor and wife, Angela, Angie McNulty and husband, Bruce, Shawn Steffey and wife, Kelly, Kevin Steffey and Kristin Steffey; great grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Alex Taylor, Lindsey McNulty, Rachel McNulty, Meghan Steffey and Luke Steffey; step granddaughter, Jessica Duty; and step great granddaughter, Julieanna Duty.

Ada Justice
Ada Justice, 81, of North Tazewell, died Aug. 8 at her home.
Born Dec. 25, 1924 in McDowell County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Rebecca Stacy Mullins.
Prior to her illness, she was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Chapel at Witten’s Mill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Justice, and three sisters, Sadie Harrison, Vada Mullins, and Patsy Mullins.

The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Joyce Tedder officiating.
Burial followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Vernie Lee Little
Vernie Lee Little, 86, of Lester, WV, died Aug. 8 at Heartland of Beckley in Beckley, WV, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Grayson County, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Dorothy Roop Little.
He had spent most of his life in Tazewell and had served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a retired coal miner and was a foreman for Poca Fuel Company. He was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Mattie "Buck" Little; three brothers, Earl, John, and Darrell Little; and one daughter; Karen Ann Little.
Survivors: daughters, Jeanne Darlene Varvel and husband, Rus, of Fillmore, IN, Suzie Little of Doran; sons, Donald Lee Little and wife, Lola, of Hillsboro, IN, John A. Little of Lebanon; sisters, Reba Hurley of Rockville, Mayleen Puckett of Greencastle, IN, Nora Lee Horn of Cedar Bluff, Pauline Mazmanion of London, KY, Barbara Vick of Bellville, MI; brothers, Arthur Little of Baptist Valley, Bill Little and Harold Little, both of Bellville; special friend, Lucille Byrd; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Minister Conn Edwards officiating.
Interment followed at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Everett Whitten Lowe
Everett Whitten Lowe, 89, of Mineral Springs, departed his life Aug. 10 at Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Monroe.
Born Jan. 29, 1917, in Cedar Bluff, he was a son of the late Mose Lowe and Vicie Belle Lowe.
He attended Richlands High School in Richlands. He was a Blacksmith in the Virginia Coal Mines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jane Digsby Lowe, in 2004.
Leaving to cherish his fond memories are sons, Everett Lowe, Jr. and wife, Melinda, of Orlando, FL, Tyvaris Lowe, Octavious Lowe, Ardell Lowe, Dominique Lowe, Donald Digsby, Lee Robinson and wife, Stacy, and Percy Faucett and wife, Sheletta, all of Mineral Springs; daughters, Sandra Hash and husband, Herb, of Troutville, Sheila Robinson Breedlove and husband, James, of Mineral Springs, Melinda Digsby of Charlotte, Sylvia Parks and husband, Jeff, of Searcy, AZ; brothers, Alberts Lowe and wife, Lilly, of Cedar Bluff, Bufort Lowe of Conwago, MD; sister, Jenny Jackson of Conwago; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Aug. 14 at Davis Funeral Chapel in Monroe.
Interment followed in Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte.

Carson L. Pendry
Carson L. Pendry, 73, of North Tazewell, died Aug. 13 at North Tazewell.
Born Dec. 16, 1932 in Grayson County, he was a son of the late Blain (Lum) Pendry and June Osborne Pendry.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Dean Pendry.
Survivors: wife, Madge M. Pendry; daughter, Denise Pendry Johnson and husband, Eugene, of North Tazewell; son, R. Wayne Pendry and wife, Betty Mick Pendry, of Sophia, NC; grandchildren, M. Shane Johnson, Eric (E.J.) Johnson, Brandy Pendry Gibson, Tara Pendry, and Randall Pendry; great grandchild, Karsyn Lane Pendry Swan; and a very special friend, Jesse Peery, Sr. of North Tazewell.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 16 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with the Rev. D.G. Fox and the Rev. Adam Frye officiating.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lake Witten Worship Center Building Fund, P.O. Box 8, North Tazewell, VA 24630.

Rita Lavona Perkins
Rita Lavona Wallace Perkins, 88, of the Stone Branch section of Honaker, died Aug. 7 in a Bristol, VA, nursing facility.
Born May 19, 1918 in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Jessee Wallace.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel House of Prayer in Honaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Perkins; two sons, James Perkins and Wayne Perkins; and six siblings. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: granddaughters, Debbie Perkins Boyd and husband, Keith, of Bristol, VA, Deirdre Perkins Rickman and husband, Johnny, of Roanoke; special friends, Troy and Aleta Lester of Honaker; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Lester and Rev. Peerman Lester officiating.
Interment followed in the Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.

Pauline Ida Reedy
Pauline Ida Jones Reedy, 83, of Tazewell, formerly of Jewell Ridge, died August 10 at a Smyth County hospital.
Born in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late James Walter and Georgia May Harper Jones, both Russell County natives.
She had lived most of her life in Russell, Buchanan and Tazewell Counties. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Riverview Presbyterian Church in North Holston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters and her husband, Claude Harman "Squeak" Reedy, in 1985.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Claude and Courtney Harper Reedy of Martinsville; sister, Mrs. Elijah (Mary Lee) Gilbert of Hartsville, SC; brother, Lawrence Jones of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, 2 year old Celden Reedy and 1 year old Carys Reedy, both of Martinsville, whom she adored with all her heart; special friend, Ramona Griffitts of Saltville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Bob Thornton officiating.
Burial was private.
