Richard L. "Rich" McClure
Died: Wednesday, December 19, 2001
Richard L. Rich McClure, 54, of Lima, died Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima.
He was born October 5, 1947 in Lima, to Bill J. and Shirley (Lyons) McClure, both of whom survive in Ruskin, Florida.
Other survivors include a brother, David W. (Lalita) McClure of Bastrop, Texas; two sisters: Linda (Gregg) Sawyer of Montgomery, Texas and Chris (Hal) Nungester of Harrod; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca McClure.
Mr. McClure worked for the Copeland Corporation in Sidney, Ohio. He was a life-long member of the Harrod Christian Church and he played with the Lima Area Concert Band. He was a 1966 graduate of Allen East High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served four years (1967-1971).
Services were held Saturday, December 22 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Pastor Rich Biclawski officiating.
Burial was in Harrod Cemetery, Harrod.

Robert E. Willeke
Died: Monday, December 17, 2001
Robert E. Willeke, 76, of Ada, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born October 7, 1925 in Kenton, to Jacob Leroy and Edith Mae (Marling) Willeke, both of whom are deceased.
On March 30, 1946, he married Josephine N. Rayl, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include a grandson, Michael Robert (Jodi) Willeke of Ada; two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Blake Willeke of Ada; one step-grandaughter, Leigh Simon of Lakeview; three step-great-grandchildren: Tracy, Miranda and Kaitlyn; a daughter-in-law, Diane (Steve) Simon of Ada; a brother, Orland Willeke of Ada; and a sister, Sarah (Dean) Dearth of Ada.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Robert Willeke on July 22, 1968; and by a brother.
Mr. Willeke retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1987 after 28 years as a Supervisor. He was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran where he was a Tail Gunner in a B-24 with the 783rd Bomb Squadron stationed in Italy. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Dola. He was also a member of the Ada American Legion Post #185 and a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381. He was a 1944 graduate of Ada High School.
Services will be held Thursday, December 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Dola, with Pastors Jeff and Jennifer Elmquist officiating.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Ada American Legion Post #185.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Dola and/or Ada Visiting Nurses and/or the charity of the donor's choice.

June Lorraine Lindabury
Died: Saturday, December 15, 2001
June Lorraine Lindabury, 82, of Findlay, died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at her residence.
She was born May 27, 1919 in Woodbridge, New Jersey, to Ralph and Jenny (Donegan) Kelly.
On July 27, 1941, she married Frederick L. Lindabury, and he survives.
Other survivors include a son, Frederick L. (Sarah) Lindabury, Jr. of Ada and a granddaughter, Kate Lindabury of Ada.
Mrs. Lindabury came to Findlay on September 1, 1987 from Middlesex, New Jersey. She was a retired office manager for Betham Corporation in Middlesex, NJ, and was formerly a secretary at the Bound Brook Methodist Church in Bound Brook, NJ. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and a member of its Mary Circle, and she also assisted in the church library. She was a member of the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center Auxiliary; and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
Services were held Wednesday, December 19 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home in Findlay, with Rev. Merle D. Walter officiating.
Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 801 South Main Street, Findlay, Ohio 45840; and/or to Bridge Home Health & Hospice, 415 College Street, Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Edward D. Sousley
Died: Thursday, December 13, 2001
Edward D. Sousley, 90, of Ada, died Thursday, December 13, 2001 at Ravenwood Care Center in Kenton.
He was born July 8, 1911 in Ada, to David and Eliza (Dutton) Sousley.
On October 13, 1956 he married Lucille Painter, and she survives in Findlay.
Other survivors include a son, John (Penny) Sousley, Sr., of Ada; a daughter, Betty J. Arnett of Findlay; two brothers: Paul (Doris) Sousley of Ada and David (Mary) Sousley of Lima; a sister, Harriet Lunan of Gresham, Oregon; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Mr. Sousley was a farmer. He was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada. He formerly attended the Bluffton Baptist Church. He was a member of the Ada and Bluffton Senior Citizens Organizations.
Services were held Monday, December 17 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada, with Rev. Laura Raypholtz-Clark officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Eileen VanAtta
Died: Wednesday, December 12, 2001
Eileen Van Atta, 82, of Eureka, Calif. and formerly of Ohio, died Wednesday, December 12, 2001.
She was born April 13, 1919. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran faith and was proud of her German Lutheran heritage. Eileen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio for 60 years and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Eureka, Calif., for 22 years.
She worked for 16 years as a bookkeeper at the Franklin Bank in Grove City and Columbus. She retired to move to California with her husband Neil to join the daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Neil Van Atta; a daughter, Janet (Michael) Paulus of Eureka; a granddaughter, Lisa (Geoff) Moore of San Fransisco; a twin sister, Kathleen MacKay of Seattle, Wash.; two other sisters: Beatrice (Bob) Scheiderer of Marysville and Mary Joann (Charles) Westin of East Tawas, Mich.; her husband's brother, Floyd (Betty) Van Atta of Columbus; three nieces: Vivian MacKay, Susan Doepping, and Rebecca Post; five nephews: Michael MacKay, James Scheiderer, Stephen Westin, Jeffrey Westin and Bradley Westin; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mapie Emmelhainz; a baby sister, Lou Ellen Emmelhainz; her parents-in-law, H.R. and Irene Van Atta; and her brother-in-law, Charles MacKay.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church, 716 South St., Eureka, CA 95501 and/or to the National Leukemia Association, 355 Stewart Ave., Suite 536, Garden City, New York 11530.

Marianne Britton
Died: Tuesday, December 11, 2001
Marianne Britton, 34, of Gillsville, Georgia, and formerly of Alger, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia.
She was born July 16, 1967 in Lima, to David and Mary (Cowan) Britton, Jr. Her father is deceased. Her mother and stepfather, Mary and William E. Janis, survive in Gillsville, Georgia.
Other survivors include a son, Christopher Evan Britton (8 weeks old), at home; a daughter, Kathryn Marie Janis, at home; a brother, Jerry T.J. (Aime) Britton of Lima; three step-sisters: Louisa of Peoria, Illinois, Roberta L. Hunter of Gillsville, Georgia, and Denise Ann (Wayne) Davis of Peoria, Illinois; a step-brother, William L. Janis of Peoria, Illinois; nieces and nephews.
Ms. Britton was a cashier at the Golden Pantry Restaurant in Maysville, Georgia. She was a former employee of Hardee's Restaurant in Ada for two years. She formerly attended the Auglaize Baptist Church in Maysville, Ohio.
Services were held Monday, December 17 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Barbara Ann DeSoto
Died: Tuesday, December 11, 2001
Barbara Ann DeSoto, 41, of Lima, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born September 8, 1960 in Lima, to Tiny S. and Mabel L. (Perkins) Nichols, Sr., both of whom are deceased.
On December 9, 1995, she married John DeSoto, who survives in Lima.
Other survivors include four sons: Joseph and Jerad Perkins, both of Toledo, and Jonathan and Benjamin Johnson, both of Lima; a daughter, Sarah Perkins of Toledo; two brothers: Tiny (Brenda) Nichols, Jr., of Kenton and Jimmy Nichols of Kenton; two sisters: Jerri Nichols of Lima and Betty Marie (Ken) Barnett of Lansing, Michigan; and a grandson, Jordan Johnson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Sherman Nichols; an infant sister; her mother, Mabel Nichols; and her father, Tiny S. Nichols, Sr., who died December 7, 2001.
Mrs. DeSoto was a homemaker.
Services were held Friday, December 14 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Otis Mason officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

James A. "Tater" Crates
Died: Saturday, December 8, 2001
James A. Tater Crates, 66, of Banning, CA, and formerly of Ada, died Saturday, December 8, 2001 in Banning, CA.
He was born June 11, 1935 in Ada, to Ralph and Agnes (Buess) Crates and his mother survives in Ada.
He married Dana Smith, who is now deceased, and later married Faye Ella Telles, who survives.
Other survivors include a brother, Jerry (Flo) Crates of Lima; a sister, Suzie (Dave) Sutherland of Kenton; three daughters; a son; and two step-daughters: Roberta (Ernie) Wobler of Lima and Barbara (Johnnie) Gray of Ada; and seven step-sons.
He graduated from Ada High School in 1953 and was formerly a sports writer for The Ada Herald.
Services will be held on Saturday in California. Memorial services will be held in Ada at a later date.

W. Jean Fraunfelter
Died: Friday, December 7, 2001
W. Jean Fraunfelter, 69, of Harrod, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
She was born June 11, 1932 in Allen County, to Harry and Celeste (Carle) Corbet, both of whom are deceased.
On November 22, 1958, she married Oscar Fraunfelter, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Ken (Carol) Fraunfelter of Harrod; two daughters: Debbie (Ron O'Day - fiance) Fraunfelter of Lafayette and Diana (Larry) Dray of Harrod; three brothers: Harry (Margaret) Corbet of Harrod, Earl (Phyllis) Corbet of Saginaw, Michigan, and Herbert (Beverly) Corbet of Ottawa; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Fraunfelter, Jr.; a daughter, Wanda Lou Fraunfelter; and a sister, Donna Young.
Mrs. Fraunfelter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Harrod Christian Church and the Auglaize Township Historical Society.
Services were held Monday, December 10 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Pastor Rich Biciawski officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrod Fire and Rescue.

Mary C. Motter
Died: Friday, December 7, 2001
Mary C. Motter, 100, of Ada, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born February 6, 1901 in Huntington, Indiana, to Joseph L. and C. Annetta (Boyd) Cotner.
In 1931, she married Lt. Thomas J. Ball, U.S. Navy Retired, and he died in 1953. She later married in 1963 to Errett R. Motter, and he died on July 22, 1976.
Survivors include two step-children: Joseph Motter of Mansfield and Patricia Fox of Westlake; a nephew, James (Marilyn) Hooper of Sanibel, Florida; a sister-in-law, Alice Cotner of Bluffton; a brother, Joe L. Cotner of Lima; a sister, Edith Dietz of San Diego, California; and several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Roy Cotner, Robert Cotner, and J. Arthur Cotner; and by two sisters: Goldie King and Lelia Hooper.
Beginning in 1920, Mrs. Motter worked in the First National Bank in Ada, and was there for six years, followed by six years in Liberty National Bank in Ada.
She attended ONU for one year, 1919-1920. She was a member of the former Order of Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Ada. She was a member of the Church of Christ (Disciples) in Ada, the Zetetic Club, the Sorosis Club, the Alpha Zi Delta Sorority and the Ada and Bluffton Senior Citizens groups.
Graveside services were held Monday, December 10 at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in Ada. Officiating was Pastor Ken Green. Funeral home in charge of arrangements was Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ada Church of Christ (Disciples) of Ada, and/or Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

Tiny S. Nichols
Died: Friday, December 7, 2001
Tiny S. Nichols, Sr., 68, of Kenton, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Sherman and Haley (Perkins) Nichols.
He married Mabel Perkins, and she died October 14, 1996. Mr. Nichols was a general laborer.
Survivors include two sons: Tiny (Brenda) Nichols, Jr. of Kenton and Jimmy Nichols of Kenton; three daughters: Jerri Nichols of Lima, Barbara (John) DeSota of Lima, and Betty Marie (Ken) Barrett of Lansing, Michigan; a sister, Mabel Nichols of Salyersville, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sherman Nichols; an infant daughter; and a brother, Roy Nichols.
Services were held Monday, December 10 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with A. B. Rowe officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Ethelyn Louise (Hurd) Rogers
Died: Thursday, December 6, 2001
Ethelyn Louise (Hurd) Rogers, of Cincinnati and formerly of Ada, died Thursday, December 6, 2001.
A public graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada on Saturday, December 15 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Messner officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
She is the daughter of the late Delmar and Ellen Alyce (Burge) Hurd and married Sidney Bowman Rogers, who is now deceased.
She was mother to Pollyanna (Roland) Sedziol and John Wesley Rogers of Lima; Ruby Rogers and the late Sylvia (Hursel) Miller and Mary (David) Laughead of Arcanum, Ohio; was grandmother to Ellen Carney, Roland (Julie) Sedziol, John (Debbie) Sedziol, Ken (Rita) Sedziol, Emilie Sedziol, Paul (Debbie) Miller, Jim (Theresa) Miller, Andy (April) Miller, Steve (Christine) Miller, Amy Laughead, David Laughead, Jr., Matthew Rogers and Christy Rogers; was great-grandmother to Sarah (Frank) Miller, Rebecca Carney, Bethany Sedziol, Michael Sedziol, Melissa Sedziol, Mark Sedziol, Matthew Sedziol, Brian Sedziol, Brittany Sedziol, Chad Miller, Melissa Miller, Joey Miller, Scott Miller, Chris Miller, Michael Miller, Nicholas Miller, Jason Miller, Megan Miller, Rebecca Miller and Stephen Miller; sister to Delmer Lee (Annabelle) Hurd of Corona, California and the late Thelma Mary (Hurd) Matchett, Emily Belle (Hurd) Moore and Rhoda Genevieve (Hurd) Sparks.
Memorial service was held Sunday, December 9 at Montgomery Community Baptist Church in Cincinnati.
The family requests that donations be made to Missions Giving through Ada First Methodist Church, P.O. Box 255, Ada, or to the Used Book Depository, Montgomery Community Baptist Church, 11251 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
Funeral home in charge of the arrangements was Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home, Cincinnati.
