Oscar Lamar Tucker, of Alachua, passed away on Sunday, March 27, at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. A native of Wellborn, he moved to Alachua in 1967, was employed by Gates Battery in Alachua from 1970-1998 and was of Jehovah’s Witness faith.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Diseker Tucker of Alachua; sisters-in-law, Mildred Eaddy and Evelyn Diseker, both of Alachua; and six first cousins.

Ruth “Maude” N. Walker

Ruth “Maude” N. Walker, 84, of Oxford, Maine, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center in Norway, Maine. She was born in Norway, Maine on June 28, 1920, the daughter of Charles and Anna Morse. Walker attended Norway schools and had been a homemaker all of her life. She married Eugene Walker. He passed away on Sept. 30, 1966. She enjoyed reading and beano. Walker was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Survivors include a son, Charles F. and his wife, Jody, of Live Oak; a daughter, Susie Estes and her husband Terry of Franklin, N.H.; four grandchildren, Mary Ann Boothby of Brewer, Maine; Dennis Walker of Lawrenceville, Ill., Patty Whitman of Norway, Maine and Donald Fillebrown of Warner, N.H.; two step-grandchildren, Felecia Williams of Santa Rosa Beach and Rachel Plymel of Live Oak; and 10 great-grandchildren, Lenza Latendresse, Cody Walker, Chelsea Fillebrown, Ryan Boothby, Erika Whitman, Devin Fillebrown, Jennifer, Chris and Josh LaFollette and Hayden Plymel.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., June 11, at Norway Pine Grove Cemetery in South Paris, Maine.

Rufus Harley Musgrove

Rufus Harley Musgrove, 70, of Dowling Park, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005. A native of Suwannee County, he lived in Suwannee County and Ocala most of his lifetime. Musgrove was a retired district chief of the state of Florida for U.S. Geological Survey, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant under Gen. George Patton, a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge, past president of Lions Club, former assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America, leader in Rainbow Girls and a member of First United Methodist Church of Ocala.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Musgrove of Dowling Park; a son, Stephen Craig Musgrove of Tallahassee; two daughters, Janis Vivian Broeker of Leavenworth, Kans. and Julie Susan Jarrett of Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala with interment following.

Dewey Knight Sr.

Dewey Knight Sr., 84, of Live Oak, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005, in his home after a long illness. The Wellborn native retired after 38 years as a lineman with Florida Power & Light Company, Live Oak and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Knight was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Wellborn, and the Wellborn American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam Knight of Live Oak; one daughter, Cherri Gray of Orange Park; one son, Grattis Dewey Knight Jr. of Orange Park; two step-daughters, Julie Manning of Live Oak and Kathy Sasser of Lake City; one sister, Dorothy Zipperer of Live Oak; 12 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26, at Daniels Memorial Chapel, Live Oak with the Rev. Lewis Gooch officiating. Interment followed in Live Oak Cemetery.

Minnie Lee Barnett

Minnie Lee Barnett, 75, of O’Brien, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, after a long illness. The McAlpin native lived in O’Brien most of her life, was a homemaker and was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Tina Roberts of O’Brien; one son, Curtis L. Barnett Jr. of Ocala; one sister, Wanda Lindsey of Live Oak; one brother, Joe Walker of Lake City; four granddaughters; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, in Daniels Memorial Chapel of Branford with Mr. Bob Fletcher officiating. Interment followed in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Maxine Touchton

Maxine Touchton, 77, of Live Oak, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, in Shands at Lake Shore Hospital, Lake City, after a short illness. The Americus, Ga. native moved to Live Oak from Perry in 1954, was a homemaker and was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Rita Mott Frayer of Auburn, Ala., Linda Frayer of Live Oak and Monteen McCord of Holly Springs, Ga.; one brother, Russell Johnson of Dublin, Ga.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Howard Edward Skow

Howard Edward Skow, 84, of Live Oak, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005. Born in Newell, Iowa on March 25, 1921, he was a life member of the Danish Lutheran Church. Skow was predeceased by sisters Esther Stephan of Storm Lake, Iowa and Velma Godfrey of Dover, Del.

First vocation: Thirty-six years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and Reserves, retiring as a Master Sgt. (E-7) and served with the “All Marine Corps Divisions,” with “Top Cripto Final Clearance,” Advance NCO, with Mos 3049, 60 years affiliation with United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps League.

Second vocation: Fifty years as a licensed hair stylist, instructor and owner of Howard’s Hair Care, Edgewater Park, New Jersey, specializing in “hair care for the physically and mentally impaired.”

Third vocation: foster home program founders of the Willingboro Foster Parent Association, Burlington County Foster Parent Association and New Jersey State Foster Parent’s Association, Inc., while offering a “Day Care Center for Working Mothers.” He received the New Jersey State Department of Human Services of Youth and Family Services’ “Certificate of Appreciation for 15 Years of Service.”

Memberships: 1) Boy Scouts of America: joined in 1950, 50 years of service, Scout master, new trainee instructor, Merit Badge Dean, Council Advancement chairman, executive officer for Burlington County Council for four years, awarded the Merit and Silver Beaver Awards (highest attainable), raised over $25,000 for Burlington County Boy Scouts, received special leadership trophy for originating and chairing for 10 years “The Eagle Scout Career Night Dinner.” 2) Life member, American Legion, for over 50 years. 3) Life member, Veterans of Foreign War, being awarded the “Citizen of the Year Award” for “distinguished service for youth activities, Burlington County, New Jersey.” 4) Life member, Edgewater, N.J. Elks Lodge, working with crippled children with over 24 years dedicated services for summer camps, etc. 5) Edgwater Park Baseball, sponsor and trophy winners for over eight years. 6) Blood drive donor for over 15 gallons, and “Grand Master’s Masonic Meritorious Medal Award” for blood bank leadership. 7) Twenty years, leader of “Demolay,” a young organization sponsored by Masons, having received the “Demolay Legion Honor Award.” 8) “Chapel of Four Chaplains,” Legion of Honor Award having recommended 100 worthy people to receive Legion awards. 9) “STAND DOWN,” annual homeless veteran service project, furnishing “barbering services: for five years at “New Jersey Stand Down” and visitations to the Vineland, N.J. Veterans Hospital. 10) “Sunshine Foundation,” president and vice president for South Jersey Chapter helping raise thousands to support terminally ill children, for the annual Florida flights to Disney World. 11) “U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary,” member five years as instructor, receiving four Flotilla No. 65 Ribbons during his service. 12) Life member, Free Masons and Shriners, being awarded “General Grand Council Award,” “Cytic Masonic Award,” “Eye Foundation Award,” “Tall Cedars,” “High-12 Club,” with over 1,500 volunteer hours at the Masonic Home of New Jersey. 13) Charter member of “Semper Fi Society of New Jersey,” former U.S. Marines and current Masonic members united, as trustee three years. 14) Life member, 60 years, Marine Corps League, Detachment Nos. 85, 69, 51 and 36. Ribbons received including many silver and bronze awards for Distinguished Citizen, Recruiter, Commandant, Staff, “Pound Dog of the Year” and many National Distinguished awards for 100 percent renewals, co-Founder of Devil Dog Pound, receiving many citations and awards. 15) Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church, U.S. 90, Lake City.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Groves Skow of Live Oak; children, Gene and Sandy Skow of Willingboro, N.J., Ronald and Connie Skow of Littleton, N.C., Sharon and Bob Livesy of Live Oak, Donna Bender of New Jersey and Darlene McLoud of New Jersey.; brother, Vinnie Miskimen, Pataluma, Calif., eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 45 foster children in over 40 years of “loving care.”

A memorial ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 26, at the family home, 732 Suwannee SW, Live Oak. New Jersey interment and ceremonies will be held at Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, N.J. on Sunday, June 12 with dinner to follow at Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast Inn, 1029 Cooper Street, Edgewater Park, N.J. (ample parking next door at the old Fleet Bank lot, corner Green and Cooper St., Edgewater Park, N.J. For New Jersey information call 609-871-3859.

Willie “Bill” Tillis

Willie “Bill” Tillis, 91, of Hudson, formerly of Live Oak, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. He was born in Bell on Nov. 13, 1913 to Daniel and Annie Harrell Tillis. Tillis moved from Live Oak in 1940 to Palm Harbor where he lived until moving to Hudson in 1999. He retired in 1976 after 20-plus years of service as a tile setter for Weaver Tile, Clearwater. Tillis was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of First Baptist Church of Hudson.

Survivors include his wife Sadie Tillis of Hudson; his daughter, Sandra (Tom) Vance of Hudson; his grandson, Barry Vance of Archer; his brother, Joe Robinson of Holiday; and several nieces and nephews.

He was laid to rest at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. Memorial donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.

Bradley Wilson

Eunice Bradley Wilson Carlson, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 in Gainesville.

The Branford native was born Oct. 4, 1920. She moved to the Jacksonville area in 1957 from Tallahassee, where she was employed as a bookkeeper with Bushnell Service Corp. for 20 years. She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville.

She is survived by three sons, Dennis M. Wilson and Lois of Bronson, Jerry L. Wilson and Laura of Longview, Washington and Michael H. Carlson of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mittie Rogers of Trenton and Betty Bailey of Starke; two brothers, W. B Bradley of Branford and Edward Bradley of Fargo, Ga.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m. in O'Brien Cemetery, O'Brien with Rev. Sam Souers officiating.

Visitation was held Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Daughtry, Murrell

Murrell Daughtry, 89, of McAlpin, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005 in the Lake City Medical Center after a short illness. The Wellborn native moved to McAlpin from Addison, Alabama eighteen years ago, was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of McAlpin.

Survivors include her husband: Rev. Byron Daughtry, McAlpin; two daughters: Barbara Lewis of Branford and Jennie Lee of Lake City; one son: Jesse W. Lewis Jr., of Lantana; one sister: Lillian Duncan, O'Brien. Twenty three grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, McAlpin with Rev. Johnny Daughtry, Rev. Bobby McCray and Rev. William J. Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Griffin, Lois S.

Lois S. Griffin, 88, passed away Monday afternoon, March, 7, 2005 at Orange Park Medical Center. She was a native of Suwannee County and made her home in Orange Park for the past 20 years. Mrs. Griffin lived in Jacksonville for a number years where she raised her children with her husband of 37 years, Alfred E. Griffin, who passed away in 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park.

Survivors include a son, A. LaVaughn Griffin of Starke; two daughters, Sandra Turner (Tom) of Orange Park, and Gayle Crutcher, also of Orange Park; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Orange Park with Rev. Travis Kimbril officiating.

Interment was in O'Brien Cemetery, O'Brien, at 3 p.m. Friday following the funeral. Arrangements by Green Pine Funeral Home, Wallace Messer, LFD.

Lanier, Jeanette

Jeanette Lanier, 75, of Branford passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 in Shands of Live Oak after a long illness. The Gilchrist County native lived in Branford most of her life, worked as a licensed practical nurse for five years in the V. A. Medical Center, Lake City and was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Branford.

Survivors include three daughters: Donna F. Lanier, Branford; Lenora V. Lanier, Klamath Falls, Oregon and Juettie Lanier Kelley, Branford; one son: James Larry Lanier, Branford; five grandchildren, Patrick, Jamie and Crystal Lanier, Nicole and Katherine Kelley; four great grandchildren, Jeremey, Brianna and Layton Lanier and Angel Cerito.

Funeral services were conducted at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, Branford, Lafayette County, with Rev. Ed Wimberley officiating. Interment followed in Meadow Rose Cemetery, Branford, Lafayette County.

Lecrone, Frank

Frank Lecrone, Sr., 84, of Branford passed away March 8, 2005 in Shands at Live Oak after a short illness. The York, Pennsylvania native moved to Branford from Jacksonville in 1996; retired after 27 years as a supervisor with Caterpillar Tractor in York PA; was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, York, PA, and a member of Masonic Lodge, York, PA.

Survivors include his wife; Edna Lecrone, Branford; three daughters: Darlene Sower, Mount Wolf, PA; Candace Graff, Dover, PA; and Kathy Longwell, Sherwood, AR; two sons, Frank Lecrone, Jr. Spruce Creek, PA and Stephen Lecrone, Red Lion, PA; one brother, Dale Lecrone, Jackson, Michigan. Ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive.

He was predeceased by his late wife, Sarah Lecrone, two daughters Janis Lecrone and Alice Bahner and two sons, Eugene and Barry Lecrone.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16 at Koller Funeral Home and Crematory Center, Inc. 2000 W. Market St. in York, PA. Interment followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, PA.

Williams, Vera McKinney

Vera McKinney, Williams, a homemaker, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in Thomasville, Ga. She was born in Irwin County, Ga. Coming from Branford, she had lived in Quitman, Ga., for the past seven years. Mrs. Williams was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman. She enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing and cooking. Preceded in death by her husband, Emory W. McKinney and a grandson Robert W. Sessions.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl M. Sessions and husband Wallace, of Lake Bird; three sisters, Merle Smith of Thomasville, Ga., Mae Avery of Quitman, Ga., and Mrs. C. W. Worthy of Hiawassee, Ga.; two grandchildren, Julie Sessions of Hutto, TX and Randall Sessions and wife Jamie, of Old Town; three great grandchildren, Cody, Jodee and Maddee Sessions of Old Town.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Home. (Quitman Caring Hands), P. O. Box 926, Quitman, Ga. 31643.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Bro. Danny Lundy, officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Madison. Family received friends from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday at Burns Funeral Home.

Carl E. Bullard

Carl E. Bullard, age 79, of Gull Drive South in Pelican Bay, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2005, at Florida Hospital Ormond. Carl was a fifth generation Floridian, born in Miami. He served in the Navy in the Aleutian Islands, after playing basketball for the Navy on the west coast. He was a member of the Pelican Bay Country Club and Central Baptist Church and enjoyed politics, golf and playing bridge. Carl was the manager of the Northeast division of the Fruit Growers Express for 38 1/2 years and at the time of his retirement was the Southern Regional Manager and Manager of Car Control for Conrail.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Jo; one sister: Martha Bullard and one brother: Raymond Bullard, both of Jacksonville, Florida; and 19 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Central Baptist Church. Officiating clergy was Reverend James Smith and Reverend Hal Marchman. Interment was Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Prospect Cemetery, Lake City, Florida.

Texal Larue Young

Texal Larue Young, age 78, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005. He was born in Damascus, Alabama, and lived in Carrabelle, Florida, for a number of years. He had resided in Tallahassee, Florida, for the last 27 years. Mr. Young was a member of Timberlane Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the Florida High School Coaches Association. He played minor league baseball for the Cleveland Indians. He graduated from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. He coached for 25 years and was coach of the year in 1971. Mr. Young was a tremendous influence on his family and hundreds of young people he coached and taught.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Conner Young; his parents, Will Green Young and Bessie Lee Roberts; and a brother Reggie Young.

Survivors include two sons: Douglas (Benjie) Young of Crawfordville, and Duffy (Michelle) Young of Tallahassee; a daughter: Pam (Joe) McKenzie of Sopchoppy, Florida; one brother: Ronnie (Cathy) Young of Elba, Alabama; two brothers-in-laws, James (Joan) Conner and Jack Conner; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Carl) Duke; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at New Life Ministries Church in Crawfordville, Florida. Interment followed at Bonnett Pond in Medart, Florida.

Brandon Jehoiada Buchanan

Brandon Jehoiada Buchanan, age 28, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2006. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary.

Brandon was an honor graduate of Tattnall Square Academy in 1996; a graduate of Oglethorpe University in May 2000; and a graduate of Georgia College and State University in December 2004, where he received his Master’s Degree in Psychology.

He will be missed by his parents, Jehoiada and Lisa Buchanan; his sister, Pamela Cherann Buchanan; his grandmother, Gaye Buchanan; his grandparents, Martha Jean Bennett, and the late James Willard Bennett, of Jennings, Florida.

He will be missed and always loved by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Center of Georgia at 2992 Crestline Drive, Macon, Georgia, 31204.

Penny J. Sult

Penny J. Sult, age 53, of Jasper, Florida, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006, from injuries sustained in a riding accident. Mrs. Sult was born in Meriden, Connecticut, on May 31, 1952. She was a former resident of Pompano Beach, Florida, and worked for Cyrus Technologies, Inc., as Controller over the accounting department until she moved to Jasper in November 2005 at which time she became a consultant for the company. She was a member of Burnham Christian Church. Mrs. Sult was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She was excited about sharing the joy of her grandson’s senior year at the U.S. Military Academy at Westpoint.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Sult of Jasper; one son, Eric Olson of Pompano Beach; one daughter, Dawn Williams of South Bend, Indiana; her mother, Elsie L’Heureux of Meriden; one brother, Nestor “Skip” L’Heureux Jr. of New York City, New York; two sisters: Charlene Partyka of Wauna, Washington, and Renee Batignani of Glastonbury, Connecticut; three grandchildren and two-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Burnham Christian Church with her brother, Reverend Nestor L’Heureux officiating, assisted by her pastor, Reverend Robert Carter.

Dorothy Jean Adams Coleman

Dorothy Jean Adams Coleman, age 74, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away early Thursday, May 18, 2006. Ms. Coleman was born May 1, 1932, in Waycross, Georgia, to the late Allen and Murl Adams. She was a resident of Lakeland for over forty years where she retired from the banking industry She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Ms. Coleman was preceded in death by her son, Ronald “Ronnie” Kennedy; four brothers: James, Bob, Cornelius and Yewell; two sisters: Lucille and Ola.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Angela Adam and her brother, Allen S. Adams of Jasper, Florida.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Roxy Mae Cemetery near Douglas, Georgia, with Reverend Wendell Hill officiating.
