Charles F. Brinkley
Charles F. Brinkley, 96, of 3600 Grindstaff Rd., Equality, died at 3:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1901, in Leamington, to the late Silas and Rachael (Pyle) Brinkley.
Mr. Brinkley was a retired farmer and a member of Leamington Community Church.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Leah and Bob Williams of Equality and Nada and Dwight Frohock of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Janice Lane, Anita Ashe, Sharon Hollman, and Mona Bayer; six grandchildren, Megan Lane, Cassie Hollman, Shea Holloman, Jarah Bayer, Tera Henson, and Jami Hish; and a great-great-grandson, Daine Hish; a step-brother, Ralph Brinkley.
He was married on May 23, 1924 to the former Jewell Vinyard and she preceded him in death on July 4, 1981. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Brinkley, a brother, Claude Brinkley, one sister, Clara Brinkley and a step-sister, Marie Ledbetter and a step-brother, Raphael Brinkley.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Leamington Community Church. The Rev. James R. Hubbard will officiate and burial will be in the Leamington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.
Donations may be made to the Leamington Community Church Building Fund.

Noah F. Holbrook
Noah F. Holbrook, 78, of Elizabethtown, died at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Holbrook, Elizabethtown; a son, Randall F. and wife, Patricia Holbrook of Bethalto; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Minnie (Goolsby) Holbrook, a son, Gary Holbrook, and three brothers, Gilbert, Eschol, and Jewell Holbrook.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hosick Funeral Chapel in Rosiclare, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Greg Love will officiate and burial will be in Adams Cemetery in Cave-in-Rock.

Minta L. Miller
Mrs. Minta L. Miller, 74, wife of Art Miller, of Anderson, Calif. died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998 at the Redding Medical Center in Anderson.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Nancy Halloway of Anderson; three stepdaughters, Marilyn Halloway of Phoenix, Ariz., Joyce Ternyek of Florence, Ore., and Betty Hilb of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Gary Trusty of Anderson, and Steve Long of Hot Springs, Ark.; a brother, Inman Hargrove of Broughton; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at Anderson's Chapel followed with gravesides at Anderson District Cemetery in Anderson. The Rev. Monte Halloway officiated.

Adam Lee Patterson
Services for Adam Lee Patterson, 16, son of Bill and Renae (DeNeal) Patterson, of 155 Hankins Road North, Harrisburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Larry Anderson and the Rev. Marion Mosely will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.
Donations may be made to the family to offset medical expenses.
Adam died at 6:46 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998 in Barnes Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Ruth S. Summers
Services for Mrs. Ruth S. Summers, 90, of Thompsonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, where friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Vernell Clark will officiate and burial will be in the County Line Cemetery at Thompsonville.
Mrs. Summers died at 8:19 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia. She was the widow of Kenneth E. Summers.

Dakota Blake Colby
Dakota Blake Colby, son of Dustin Ray and Mary Beth (Shewmaker) Colby, of 219 Durham St., Harrisburg, was stillborn at 9:46 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Talia ReaAnn Colby; a brother, Dustin Ray Colby; maternal grandparents, Brice and Emma Shewmaker of Harrisburg; maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brice Shewmaker of Eddyville and Clarence and Wilma Farmer; paternal grandparents, Sharon Martin of Rosiclare and Raymond Colby of Marion; paternal great-grandparents, Everett Martin of Rosiclare and the late Leona Martin and the late Cliff and Valeta Colby.
Graveside services will precede burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg with the Rev. Raymond Dutton officiating. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Mary Addis Cochran Mrs. Mary Addis Cochran, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998 at 4:40 a.m. at her residence in Sacramento, Calif. She was a former resident of Rosiclare.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Merrill (Peggy Lee) Dubach of Davis, Calif.; a son, Jim and wife, Ginger Abbott of Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, and three brothers, Margaret "Peg" Russell, Tom Patton, Paul Patton, and Bob Patton, all of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. The Rev. Jim Patton will officiate with burial in the IOOF-Empire Cemetery at Elizabethtown. Graveside services will be for family members only.
Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to Rosiclare First Baptist Church.
There will be no visitation at Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare.

Anna Vera Jackson
Services for Mrs. Anna Vera Jackson, 83, of Macon, Mo., will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Hosick Funeral Chapel in Rosiclare, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Bro. Don Campbell will officiate and burial will be in the Fluorine Cemetery in Rosiclare. The remains of her husband, Percy Jackson, will be interred with Mrs. Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson died, Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998 at 9:15 p.m. in Roch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Mo.

Betty Lou (Johnson) Hicks
Mrs. Betty Lou (Johnson) Hicks, 67, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Eldorado, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Death was due to an apparent heart attack.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Tom" Hicks. They had been married for 49 years. Also surviving are a son, Keith Hicks of Evansville; a daughter, Susan Benjamin of Carol Stream; three grandsons, Bryan, Kyle and Andrew Hicks; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe L. Johnson and William L. Johnson, who lived in Illinois.
Mrs. Hicks was born in the New Hope community on Feb. 6, 1931, to the
late Frank and Mary Johnson.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Eldorado and the Order of the Eastern Star in Eldorado.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, Evansville, where visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday. The Rev. Mitch Stichler will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. The family will gather at Sunset Lawn at 1 p.m., on Saturday, for graveside services.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Betty Louise Boyd
Mrs. Betty Louise Boyd, 71, wife of Arley Boyd, of Elizabethtown, died at 8:13 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, in Hardin County General Hospital at Rosiclare.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Elizabethtown and a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 217.
In addition to her husband, Arley, she is survived by a son, David E. Boswell of Hillsboro; a daughter, Judy Lanham of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Nell Smiglers of Buffalo, N.Y., Marie Brandt of Edmonds, Wash., and Daisy Sheppard of Florida.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock. There will be no visitation Thursday.

Omer L. 'Pid' Holland
Omer L. "Pid" Holland, 94, of a resident of Carrier Mills Nursing Home, former resident of Equality and Johnson County, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998 at 8:05 a.m., at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1904, in Missouri, son of the late John Alec and Maude E. (Proctor) Holland.
He was a retired automotive mechanic and a member of the Ozark Baptist Church.
He was married to the former Beulah Taylor on April 19, 1930, in Harrisburg. She preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1985.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Linden T. and Phyllis Holland of Carrier Mills, and Richard and Pat Holland of Vienna; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Don Kerley of Goreville and LeeAnn and Robert Cremeens of Equality; nine grandchildren: Donna Joplin, Cindy Skvarce, Terri Streich, Kathy Rix, Sandi Unser, Michelle Sullivan, Richard T. Holland, Kevin Cremeens, and April Cremeens; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edra Elker of Morehead, Minn.
In addition to his wife, and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at 11 a.m., at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The Rev. Michael Abell will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery, north of Vienna.
The family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Beauford 'Boob' Roark
Beauford "Boob" Roark, 70, of New Haven, died on Monday night, Nov. 23, 1998, in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
He was born on June 30, 1928, in New Haven, to the late Earl and Ethel (Holtzclaw) Roark.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Roark, two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Mike Bates of New Haven and Jan and Vince Drone of Ridgway; six grandchildren, Andrea Wargel of Ridgway, Chad Bates and Kelli Bates of New Haven, Randi Vickery of Shawneetown, Jala Drone and Blake Drone of Ridgway; and two great-grandchildren, Gannon Wargel and Giffin Bates.
He was a member of the New Haven Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m., at Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven, where friends may call Thursday, from 4 to 9 p.m., with Masonic rites given at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Julia Hazzard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Presbyterian Church in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Gennevieve Pyle
Mrs. Gennevieve Pyle, 85, of 303 Harrison St., Carrier Mills, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado.
She married Harley Pyle on Oct. 11, 1930. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1987.
Mrs. Pyle was a member of New Castle Baptist Church.
Her parents were the late Pleasant and Mary Ellen (Campbell) Milburn and she was born on Oct. 4, 1913, in Saline County.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Boyle of Sky Valley, Ga. and Mrs. Jack (Mary) Overstreet of Carrier Mills; three sons and daughters-in-law, Glendel and Norma Pyle of Independence, Mo., Don and June Pyle of Stonefort, and Bill and Joy Pyle of Harrisburg; a sister, Ruth McNew of Carrier Mills; 12 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Jean Pyle; twin grandchildren, Brian and Sonja Overstreet; three brothers, an infant Claude Everett, and Carl and Kenneth Milburn, and two sisters, Bertha Passmore and Gladys Brandon.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday. The Rev. Harl Cockrum officiated and burial was in Salem Cemetery near Carrier Mills.
