David Richard "Ric" Johnson
David Richard "Ric" Johnson, longtime resident of Ojai, died Aug. 2, 2000 at the Acacias Care Center in Ojai.
He was the original founder of the Ojai Valley Gun Club, a past member of the Architectural Board of Ojai, and instigator of the lost wax casting foundry and art colony of Ojai. He was well-known as an artist and sculptor, and was frequently seen riding his motorized scooter, broad-brimmed hat on his head, until post-polio syndrome restricted his daily rounds about town.
He is survived by his daughter Annette Matthews and son Stephen Johnson, both of Houston, Texas, who wish to thank the many people who visited and enlivened the last three years of his life.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Carole Lawhead
Carole Lawhead, 59, of Oak View, died Aug. 2, 2000. She was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Bedford, Pa.
She married George Lawhead on Nov. 18, 1960, and in 1962, they moved to Ventura. They have lived in the Ojai Valley for nearly 30 years
Mrs. Lawhead was a wife, mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, George Lawhead; daughters and sons-in-law Holli and Cory Ralston of Ojai, and Heidi Lawhead and Tim Albers of Ventura; and two grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Janet Trail, Debra Peck, Geraldine Reed, and brothers Marle, Ron and Kenton, all of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Helen and Murray Foor.
Funeral services were held Monday at noon at the Ojai Valley Baptist Church. A second service will be held Friday, Aug. 11, in Everett, Pa. She will be buried in Artemus, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ojai Valley Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Randy Bruce Curtis
Randy Bruce Curtis, 48, of Oak View, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, after a battle with cancer. He was born July 1, 1952, in Michigan, and had lived in the Ojai Valley for six years. He was a house painter.
Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife Kathleen; stepchildren Tim, Mona, Sarah, James, Leif, Cassie and Sasha Rose; mother Philena; sister Karen and husband Fred; and brother Owen and wife Char.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Curtis Family, c/o Sasha Rose Peet.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.

William "Little Willie" Allebaugh
William "Little Willie" Allebaugh, 47, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at his home in Ojai after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1952, in Downey, Calif., and lived in Ojai for 30 years, coming from Glendale.
Mr. Allebaugh had been a technician at Ventura County Medical Center.
He was an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop #508, a committee chairman for Adventure Crew #9976, and a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.
Mr. Allebaugh is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joanna, of Ojai; daughters Carrie Allebaugh of Ventura, and Barbara Allebaugh of Camarillo; and one granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Nordhoff Cemetery in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop #508.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Margaret "Helen" Grimes
Margaret "Helen" Grimes, 91, of Ojai, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital's Skilled Nursing Center. She was born Jan. 14, 1909, in Sioux, Iowa, and had lived in Ojai for 20 years, coming from Los Angeles.
Mrs. Grimes had been an insurance secretary.
A widow, she leaves no survivors.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Gordon N. Horton
Gordon N. Horton, 76, died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Oklahoma City, Okla., after a brief illness. He was born in Fillmore, Calif., Oct. 10, 1923, to Ner and Eliza Horton.
He graduated from Nordhoff High School in Ojai and served in the U.S. Army for three years. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for Edison Electric, Ojai Lumber Company and Oilfield Electric Company in Ventura, from which he was retired.
He married Dola Smith Brandon of Oak View in 1956. They lived on Kunkle Street in Oak View for 43 years. Due to poor health, they moved to Oklahoma in June 1999.
Mr. Horton is survived by his wife Dola, and was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held Aug. 4 with interment in Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, Okla.
Arrangements were under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.

Richard 'Rich' Hultgen
Richard "Rich" Hultgen, 51, of Ojai, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000. He was born Feb. 25, 1949, in Minnesota, and had lived in Ojai for 22 years, coming from Santa Barbara. Mr. Hultgen was a Realtor, school teacher and, most recently, owner-operator of the Letter Lobby in Ojai. He was a member of the Ojai Rotary and the Ojai Valley Boys band. He was also a pilot.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kim, son Matthew Hultgen and daughter Heather Hultgen, all of Ojai; and his mother Marjorie Toillion of La Jolla, Calif.
A memorial gathering will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Boccali's restaurant in Ojai.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
Helen Lochrie
Helen Lochrie, 83, of Ojai, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Acacias Care Center in Ojai. She was born April 17, 1917, in Deer Lodge, Mont., and lived in Ojai for 32 years, coming from the San Francisco Bay area.
Ms. Lochrie had been a secretary at The Thacher School, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Ojai.
She is survived by her brother Arthur J. Lochrie Jr. of San Diego and sister Betty Hoag McGlynn of Monterey.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Joan R. Morrill
Joan R. Morrill, 85, of Ojai, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at her home. She was born July 10, 1915, in Porterville, Calif., and has been a resident of Ojai for 50 years.
She was an actress; her stage name was Joan Marsh. Her film career was from the 1920s through the 1940s.
She is survived by her sons Langdon Morrill of Solana Beach, and Jonathan Morrill of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one granddaughter.
Private services are to be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Ventura County.
Arrangements are under the direction of McDermott-Crockett Mortuary in Santa Barbara.

Evelyn E. Sherman
Evelyn E. Sherman, 74, of Ojai, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Acacias Care Center in Ojai. She was born June 8, 1926, in Port Angeles, Wash., and had lived in Ojai for two months, coming from Oxnard. She was a longtime resident of Port Townsend, Wash.
Ms. Sherman was a retired registered nurse and had worked in California and Washington.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Beverly Sherman of Ojai; son Gregory Sherman of Agoura; daughter and son-in-law Janis and David Brock of Marysville, Wash.; her sister Doris Jean Van Valkenburg of Enumclaw, Wash.; brother William A. Paddock Jr. of Port Townsend, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Edward "Bus" Paddock who died in 1945 during World War II.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, at the First Presbyterian Church of Oxnard, with the Rev. Jim Bain officiating. Interment will be at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Port Townsend.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Carl J. Sigur
Carl J. Sigur, 59, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at his home in Ojai following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 17, 1940, in Westwego, La., and had lived in Ojai for 20 years, coming from Lawndale, Calif.
Mr. Sigur had been a warehouseman for the Pepsi plant in Ventura and was a 30-year member of the Teamsters Union. He served in the U.S. Navy for 11 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Keeler of Lousiana; father and mother-in-law William and Willamae Hetherington; brothers-in-law and their wives Steve and Cathy Rittenhouse, Philip and Linda Rittenhouse, and Tim and Glori Rittenhouse; sister-in-law and her husband Kathy and John Gregg; one nephew; and a great-nephew.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.

Roland O. Carrier
Roland O. Carrier, 70, of Ojai, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, after a lenghty illness. He was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Woonsocket, R.I. He moved to California in 1957. He was a resident of Ojai and Ventura for 40 years.
He taught at Oak View Elementary School for 10 years, later teaching learning disabled children for the Ventura Unified School District. He retired after 30 years of teaching.
Mr. Carrier received his Associate of Arts degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from the University of the Americas in Mexico City, Mexico. He earned his teaching credentials from the University of Southern California. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman for the 7th Infantry.
He met his wife Ella "Ellie" at Boston University. in the 1960s and '70s, Mr. Carrier was an actor and a director of amateur theater at the Ojai Art Center. He served as bishop's warden for St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ojai and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Ventura. After his retirement in 1988, he became an artist. He won many awards for his paintings at the Ventura County Fair, and served as a volunteer in the Fine Arts Department for 10 years.
Mr. Carrier is survived by his wife Ellie of Ojai; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Amanda Carrier of Ventura; sister Gabrielle Vallee of Woonsocket, R.I.; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Carrier in 1997.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 3290 Loma Vista Road in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice at Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association, 1996 Eastman Ave. #101, Ventura, CA 93003.
Condolences to the family may be sent in care of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, 757 E. Main St., Ventura, CA 93001.

William Matt Huntington
William Matt Huntington, 71, of Oak View, died suddenly Friday, Aug. 11, 2000.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2:30 p.m. at the Ventura County Church of Religious Science, 101 S. Laurel St. in Ventura. The church will be open at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

John Randolph Guest
John Randolph Guest, 86, of Ojai, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 4, 1913, in Detroit, Mich., and moved to Glendale, Calif. in his teens.
Mr. Guest graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, with a master's degree in educational administration. During World War II, he was an accountant at Lockheed. He served many years as an elementary school teacher and principal in La Puente and Hacienda Heights. His hobbies included sailing, art, woodworking and travel.
After retiring to Ojai in 1976, he volunteered as a driver for Little House of Ojai and for the Braille Institute, also repairing their tape machines.
He is survived by his wife Stella Guest; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and John Suppe of Princeton, N.J.; daughter Marilyn Izzi of Ojai; son and daughter-in-law Deana Lorentzen of Carlsbad, N.M.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Little House Senior Center, 111 W. Santa Ana St., Ojai.
Arrangements are under the direction of McDermott-Crockett Mortuary in Santa Barbara.

Richard Henry Kehoe (Keogh)
Richard Henry Kehoe (Keogh), 64, of Ojai, died Sunday, Aug. 20, at Community Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1936, in New York City to Jeremiah and Margaret Kehoe. He attended St. John's Prep and served as an altar boy for many years. In 1953, the family relocated to Southern California and established Kehoe Plastering.
In 1961, he graduated with honors from the University of Southern California School of Architecture. He was a member of the U.S. Marines from 1954 to 1966.
Mr. Kehoe was a longtime Ventura County resident and a well-known architect/developer. In 1964, he and Howard Leach established Leach & Kehoe Architects. He will be remembered for some of his most awarded projects, including the Oxnard Presbyterian Church, Oxnard Transportation Center, and a multitude of financial institutions, medical and office buildings, industrial projects, restaurants and religious buildings. His many Public Works projects include police and fire stations, including the Ojai Police Station, as well as correctional facilities in Ventura County. His development company Pacific Urban Development Corporation was formed to build and sell the many senior citizen housing turnkey projects throughout the county.
Mr. Kehoe served as president of the Ventura County Chapter of American Institute of Architects, chairman of the city of Ojai's Architectural Review Board and was a member of the Architectural Review Board for the city of Oxnard and Ventura County. He also touched many lives through his prison ministry and outreach programs.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Kehoe; his daughters Eileen Kehoe-Green of London, Suzanne Kruse of Portland, Ore., Kathleen Kehoe and Caryn Kruse, both of Ojai; sons Michael Kehoe of San Diego, Calif., and James Kehoe of Huntington Beach; brothers Jerry Kehoe of Camarillo, and Barry Kehoe of Pasadena, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and many extended family members.
Visitation was held Aug. 23 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ojai, with burial following at Santa Clara Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.

Grace Gorman
Grace Gorman, 88, of Ojai, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, following a brief illness. She was born May 30, 1912, in Huntington Beach, and lived in Ojai for 30 years, coming from Rancho Cordova.
Mrs. Gorman was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Arlene and Richard Roper of Ojai; son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Darla Gorman of Culver City; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald and son Larry.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura.
Memorial contributions may be made to HELP of Ojai.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.

Donald L. Morse
Donald L. Morse, 64, of Ojai, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Los Angeles, and lived in Ojai for 34 years, coming from Malibu.
Mr. Morse had been a clerk for PSSA County of Ventura.
He is survived by his brother Larry Morse of Ojai; sister-in-law May Rose Morse of Grants Pass, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at El Sereno Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 1225 S. Rice Rd. in Ojai, with Pastor Paul Emerson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Gale Rudolph Webb
Gale Rudolph Webb, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at his home in Ojai. He was born June 9, 1921, in Houston, Texas, and lived in Ojai for 17 years, coming from La Mirada, Calif.
Mr. Webb had been a toolmaker with Tosco.
He is survived by his wife Helen Belle Webb of Ojai; son Lance Webb of Durango, Colo.; daughter Sandra Pugh of Philadelphia, Pa.; one grandson; and two granddaughters.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mira Valle Mobile Home Park, with Larrie Lewellyn officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
