Ethel Dale Dukes Stokes
Services for Ethel Dale Dukes Stokes will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Richie Davis and Gary Mullinax officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Stokes, 92, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Riley Hospital. She was a retired sales clerk in the clothing and fabric business. She was a resident of Queen City Nursing Home for a long time and the family would like to thank Queen City for their excellent care.
Survivors include daughters, Jewel Posey and her husband, James, of Jackson, Jonnie D. Riddle and her husband, Gary, of Meridian; son, David Stokes of Meridian; grandchildren, Phil Posey, Michael Posey and Randy Posey and Joy Posey, all of Jackson, Rhonda McRae of Meridian, Kristi Watkins of Meridian, John H. Stokes of Coco Beach, Fla., Desiree Mullinax of Gordo, Ala.; sister, Elsie Glover of Meridian and brother, Tal Dukes of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonnie B. Stokes; a brother, “Bo” Dukes; sisters, Edith Farmer, Rita McInnis; and grandchild, Perry Glen Posey.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Prentis Sumrall
Services for Prentis Sumrall will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Church of God in Quitman, with the Rev. James Thompson officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sumrall, 72, of Quitman, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a retired cement finisher.

Huddleston Solomon
PHILADELPHIA — Services for Huddleston Solomon will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Linwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Skinner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with John E. Stephens Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Solomon, 64, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at his home. He was employed as a bus driver for Choctaw Tribal Schools.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Solomon; children, Kendrick Solomon, Nehemiah Marshall Solomon; step-children, Melissa Pauline Tubby, Gary Tubby II; siblings, Ina Mae Isaac, Rita Vee Allen, Mae Bell, Susan Irene Frazier, Tanya Reed, Bronson Solomon, Chancellor Solomon Sr., Johnny Ray Smith; grandchild, Jordon Mitchell Tubby; and other relatives and friends.

Edna Earl Graham
PHILADELPHIA — Graveside services for Edna Earl Graham will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Good Hope Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Sullivan officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Graham, 64, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, in Pearl.
Visitation will be held Thursday from noon - 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arica Dadrema Houston
Services for Arica Dadrema Houston will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Fitkins Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Cornelius McClelland and Marvin Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Enterprise Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Arica Houston, 11, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, in Jackson. She last attended Crestwood Elementary School.
Survivors include her parents, Yolanda Houston of Meridian and Antonio Finley of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Dennis Collier, Antonio Finley, Jermiya Finley, Jovodaka Finley; sisters, Chiquita Edwards, Kadesha Houston, Dakota Mosley and Qyneitha Finley.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Ann Brewer

PASCAGOULA — Funeral Service will be today at 10 a.m at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home Chapel . Burial will be in Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.
Mrs. Brewer, 72, of Pascagoula, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at her home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1934, to the late George and Lou Tullos in Magee. She was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ray Brewer of Pascagoula; two daughters, LaDonna Bradshaw of Meridian and Lisa Vendeiro of Alvin, Texas; one son, Buck Brewer of Ocean Springs; eight grandchildren, Artie Rea, David Brewer, Tina Jones, Kerry Shaver, Elizabeth Vendeiro, Michael Brewer, Tommy Brewer and Stephanie Brewer; four great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Bounds, 70, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Marzine Knighton

Mr. Knighton, 91, of Meridian, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, in his home.

Jima Irene Neal
Graveside services for Jima Irene Neal will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Luquire officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Neal, 82, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, in her home. She was born in Mississippi and moved to Gary, Ind., for most of her childhood. She returned to Mississippi where she met and married Howard Vernon Neal Sr. His military career in the U.S. Marine Corps. took them all over the country for more than 27 years. After retirement in 1972, they moved to Meridian and built their dream home on Poplar Springs Drive. She was loved by those who knew her and she will be missed by all her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Neal of Meridian; a son, Howard V. Neal Jr. of Blue Water Bay, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Neal and her daughter, Debbie Owen.

Lottie M. Crenshaw
NEWTON — Services for Lottie M. Crenshaw will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Pouncey officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Crenshaw, 82, of the Hero Community, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, in her home.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she was a member of W.M.U.. She was the past Sunday School Teacher, & Prayer Closet Volunteer.
Survivors include her daughters, Cathye Bates of Hero; Bonnie Segari of Houston, Texas and DeDe Crenshaw of Hero; a son: Butch Crenshaw & Wife Julia of Hero; a sister, Liz Manasco of Hero; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Crenshaw and a daughter, Shirley Jowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church or The Baptist Childrens Home in Jackson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Phillip Jowers, Kevin Dempsy, Richie Woodham, Jason Ward, Cale Crenshaw, and Samuel Crenshaw.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Bates, Aaron Morrison, and Ryan Morrison.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Catherine Loretta Parnell Blanchard
HATTIESBURG — Services for Catherine Loretta Parnell Blanchard will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Donnell Allen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Cemetery. Century Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Blanchard, 73, of Meridian, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 27, 1933, to the late Alex Pitts and Mary Hawkins Pitts. She was a lifelong member of St. James A.M.E. Church and also served faithfully at Palestein Baptist Church while residing in Prentiss with her late husband.
Survivors include her children, Sylvester Parnell Jr., Mary Parnell Rice, Kenneth Parnell Sr. and his wife, Evoyne, all of Meridian and the Rev. Alfred Parnell and his wife, Jacquelyn, of Waynesboro, and the Rev. Alex Parnell and his wife, Mildred, of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Betty Holman of Meridian; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Parnell and Clarice Parnell, both of Meridian; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Parnell.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the church.

QUITMAN — Graveside services for Nancy Mae Davidson will be held today at 2 p.m. at Ford Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Revs. Buddy Braddock and Derrick Simmons officiating. Wright’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davidson, 92, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.
Survivors include her daughters, Billie Trayal and her husband, Bryan, Evelyn Shirley and Gale Fountain and her husband, Larry; 10 grandchildren; Ken Trayal, Keith Trayal, Mike Davidson, Chris Davidson, Craig Shirley, Troy Shirley, Stephanie Tanner, Stacie Marcin, Shannon Fountain and Lauren James; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Reitha Davidson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Reece Davidson; a son, Jimmy Davidson; a sister, Leola Robinson; parents, Liston and Addie Tims.
Visitation will be today from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

KOSCIUSKO — Services for Pearl L. Summerlin will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Keith Grubbs and LaVerne Summerlin officiating. Burial will be in Kosciusko City Cemetery.
Mrs. Summerlin, 97, of Meridian, formerly of Kosciusko, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Brandon Courts in Brandon. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Meridian. She was a retired spinner at Aponaug Textile Mill.
Survivors include sons, Huey Summerlin and his wife, Neva, of Meridian and Sidney Summerlin and his wife, Margie, of Madison; a daughter, Sylvia Jenkins and her husband, James, of Meridian; a brother, Lexie Lishman of Kosciusko; sisters, Estelle Pendarves of Wiggins and Pauline Hodges of Leakesville; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Summerlin; a son, Haywerd Summerlin; daughters, Joyce Posey and Shirley Dean and her parents, V.I. Summerlin and Zenie Hannah.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alma Bradley
Services for Alma Bradley will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Bradley, 64, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ida Toussiant.

Bonnie R. Thornton

Services for Bonnie R. Thornton will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Cothern officiating. Burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery.
Mrs. Thornton, 75, of Enterprise, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian. She was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church and also a member of the Eastern Star. She retired as a bookkeeper from Newell Paper Company.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel E. Thornton of Enterprise; son, Kevin Richardson of Enterprise; a step-son, Samuel “Gene” Thornton of McClain and two step-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Joe Hansen; brothers, Joe Hansen Jr. and Frankie Hansen and a sister, Lorraine Krasmolich.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA — Graveside services for Scott Allen Ritchie will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Wheaton officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ritchie, 35, of Pensacola, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, in Pensacola. He was a longtime resident of Pensacola and was a truck driver.
Survivors include his parents, Alinda and Jim Ritchie of Pensacola; sisters, Kathy Ross of Meridian, Loretta Newberry and Jonetta Ritchie, both of Pensacola; maternal grandmother, Mazelle Watkins of Meridian; paternal grandmother, Mable Lane of Miami, Okla.; a special niece, Michelle Carlton of Pensacola and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frazier, 96, of Meridian, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at the Oaks Nursing Home. She was a member of Frazier Grove Church of God.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Horton of Athens, Texas and Theresa Frazier of Collinsville; sons, Jimmie Frazier of Collinsville, Paul Frazier of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Gregory Frazier of Athens; a brother, Lamar W. McKee of Georgia and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
