Services for Noah Wilkins will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Cephus Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Jefferson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wilkins, 81, of Lauderdale, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in his home.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Annie M. Turner
Services for Annie M. Turner will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Baptist Church in Shubuta with the Rev. Curtis Walker officiating. Burial will be in Cokes Chapel Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Turner, 95, of Shubuta, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in her home.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Samuel J. Byrd

DEKALB — Services for Samuel J. “Sam” Byrd will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Aarat Baptist Church in Scooba with the Rev. James Granger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. E.E. McDonald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Byrd, 96, of Macon, formerly of Scooba, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Noxubee County General Hospital in Macon.
He was preceded in death by his daughter and two brothers.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home in DeKalb.

Pearl L. Summerlin

KOSCIUSKO — Services for Pearl L. Summerlin were held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Keith Grubbs and LaVerne Summerlin officiating. Burial was in Kosciusko City Cemetery.
Mrs. Summerlin, 97, of Meridian, formerly of Kosciusko, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Brandon Courts in Brandon. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Meridian. She was a retired spinner at Aponaug Textile Mill.
Survivors include sons, Huey Summerlin and his wife, Neva, of Meridian and Sidney Summerlin and his wife, Margie, of Madison; a daughter, Sylvia Jenkins and her husband, James, of Meridian; a brother, Lexie Lishman of Kosciusko; sisters, Estelle Pendarves of Wiggins and Pauline Hodges of Leakesville; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Summerlin; a son, Haywerd Summerlin; daughters, Joyce Posey and Shirley Dean and her parents, V.I. Lishman and Zenie Hannah.

Mabel J. Steele
Arrangements were incomplete at Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home for Mabel J. Steele, 89, of Philadelphia, who died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Dee Pinson
UNION — Services for Dee Pinson will be held today at 10 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Walton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Pinson, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton.
Survivors include his sons, Roger Pinson, Darryl Pinson and Jerry Pinson; one brother; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Pinson.

Alice Virginia Wimberly
QUITMAN — Services for Alice Virginia Wimberly will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bernice Fleming and Edward Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Andrew’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Wimberly, 80, of Quitman, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in her home. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Waynesboro.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, J.A. Wimberly of Quitman; children, George Wimberly and his wife, Delois, of Stonewall, Carole Wimberly Sykes and Billy Wimberly and his wife, Sandra, all of Quitman; grandchildren, Angela Sykes Raines, Lisa Stokely Turner and her husband, Michael, Holly Sykes Rhodes and her husband, Brian, Ginger Wimberly Alford and her husband, Tommy, Johnny Wimberly and his wife, Natalie; great-grandchildren, Joey Glass, Sara Carole Raines, Mikayla Turner, Jessica Wimberly, Jake Wimberly, Katelin Rhodes and Braydon Alford; sisters, Nonie Odom, Edna McRae and Frances Royce, all of Waynesboro and several nieces and nephews and a special friend, C.J. “Shug” Cranford.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Odom; her father, Ellis O’Neal; step-father, Pete Odom; brother, Arthur Odom; a grandson George Wimberly Jr. and a sister, Georgene Odom.
Pallbearers will be C.J. “Shug” Cranford, Larry Fleming, Steve Connor, Bob Longwitz, William Richardson, Steve Odom.

BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Sara Lee Mosley will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Billy Crow officiating. Burial will be in Old Lusk Cemetery in Toxey. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mosley, 65, of Gilbertown, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in Alabama.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Mosley; a son, Mason Mosley and a daughter, Lesia Sellers; two brothers; one sister and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fremont Moore Kellam Jr.

YORK, Ala. — Services for Fremont Moore Kellam Jr. will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at York United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rod Curry officiating. Burial will be in York City Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kellam, 74, of York, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Kellam; daughters, Jamie Letson, Melanie Grace and Amber Bradie; one step-son; two step-daughters and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Millard Jr. Howell

Services for Millard Jr. Howell will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Knighton officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Howell, 49, of Goodrich, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Goodrich.
He was a member of Outreach Church of the Overcomer and the NTL Lodge.
Survivors include his mother, Erma Ruth Howell of Enterprise; his wife, Marjorie Howell of Goodrich; sons, Bradley Howell of Sylacauga, Ala., and Justin Howell of Enterprise; a brother, David Miles of Stonewall; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Millard Howell and a sister, Diane Howell.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Juanita Hagemeyer Bolton

CARROLLTON, Texas — Services for Juanita Hagemeyer Bolton will be held Saturday at Metrocrest Funeral Home Chapel in Carrollton.
Mrs. Bolton of Plano, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Creekside Alzheimers Care Unit.
She was a graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Junior College, “Nita,” as she was known to many, received a bachelor’s degree in fashion and design illustration from Texas Womens University in Denton, in 1954. Over the next 30 years she worked for some of the Southwest’s most prestigious fashion firms including Donovan Galvani, Victor Costa, Gerald Stewart Designs and most recently, Bryan Industries, a Tulsa-based childrens clothing manufacturer. In 1960, she designed an evening gown for then Miss America, Mary Anne Mobley. Survivors include a son, Trent Bolton of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Jessica Lossner of Escondido, Calif., and Michele Bolton of Austin; brothers, Jack Hagemeyer of Ft. Worth and Jesse Hagemeyer Jr. of Plano and four grandchildren.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association, 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 750 Dallas, TX 75204.

Doyle Eugene Neal

Services for Doyle Eugene Neal will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Neal, 80, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at the Regency Hospital of Meridian. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy and taught R.O.T.C. at Clarkdale Attendance Center.
Survivors include his daughters, Terry Neal Goodman and her husband, Keith, of Meridian and Mona Neal Bonner and her husband, Bruce, of Quitman; a son, Robert E. Neal and his wife, Vickie Jacks Neal, of Madison; grandchildren, Melody Dupre and her husband, Chad, Shaun Templeton and his wife, Angela, Scott Goodman, Khristen Neal, Kimberly Neal, Paige Bonner, Ashton Neal and Blake Bonner; great-grandchildren, Brandon Holt Lee and Seth Dupre; sisters, Paula Mae Mitchell, Ree Russell, Bobbie Parker and her husband, John L. and a brother, Steve Neal.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 57 years, Veda Jones Neal; parents, Willie and Annie Jane Neal; brothers, Lavelle Neal and Hester Neal; sisters, Melba Palmer Sparkman, Lutie Adams and Clevalee Galyean.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Zoe Edith McDaniel Payne
HATTIESBURG — Services for Zoe Edith McDaniel Payne will be held Sunday, at 2 p.m. at Jones & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Emmett Payne, Jr. of Forest Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Gadsden, Ala., officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. McDaniel, 94, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center. She was born on August 10, 1912, in the Stonewall Community of Clarke County, one of two daughters born to Louis Presley McDaniel and Katie Mae Saltonstall McDaniel, and David N. Payne.
She attended school at Magnolia Elementary School, Magnolia, and Tuscaloosa Elementary School, Tuscaloosa, Ala., before attending the Quitman School System, graduating from Quitman High School in 1931 and Jones County Junior College, Ellisville, in 1933. She later attended The University of West Alabama and The University of Southern Mississippi.
She worked for four years in the office of Clarke County Superintendent of Education before marrying Robert Emmitt Payne, Sr., of Lauderdale, on July 24th, 1937. After living in Rolling Fork for six years, the couple moved to Lauderdale with their two young sons where Edith was active in community activities and The Lauderdale Presbyterian Church. She taught nine years at Lauderdale High School before joining the United States Post Office staff at Lauderdale. She served as Postmaster until 1978, retiring after 20 years of service. In 1981, Edith moved to the Oak Grove Community of Lamar County.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Emmett Payne, Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Payne of Birmingham, Ala., and William Norman Payne and his late wife, Carolyn P. Payne of Kingwood, Texas; and a daughter, Katherine Payne Cole and her husband, John Franklin, of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Robert Emmitt Payne III of Douglasville, Ga., William Brian Payne and his wife, Shelley LeBlanc Payne of Dunwoody, Ga., David Norman Payne of Jackson, Jeptha Newton Cole and Karen Field Cole of Jackson, and Thomas Payne Cole of Jackson, Mary Elizabeth Payne of Franklin, Tenn., Anna Louise Cole Asher and her husband,Frederick Herlihy Asher of River Ridge, La., and Meredith Amanda Cole of Hattiesburg; great- grandchildren, Joel Austin Payne of Douglasville, Ga., William Parish Payne of Dunwoody, Ga., and John Stanton Cole of Jackson, and Claire Davis Payne of Dunwoody; two sisters-in-law Margaret Payne McCully of Jackson, and Olive Kennedy Payne of Brandon; cousins, Emily and Guy Gunn, Trudy Perry of San Antonio, Texas, Johnny Noland of Austin, Texas, Peggy Howell of Houston, Texas, Pat and Byron Jackson of Hillsboro, Ore., Edna Saltonstall of Norfolk, Neb., Gurdon and Elizabeth Saltonstall of Nashville, Tenn., Donald Gavin of Hattiesburg, Rowena Rollins of Allenhurst, N.J., Mary Parks of Taylors, S.C., and Ted and Sue Willard of Columbia, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Emmitt Payne, Sr., Lauderdale; her parents Louis Presley McDaniel and Katie Mae Saltonstall McDaniel, and her sister Katherine McDaniel.
Memorials may be made to the Lauderdale Presbyterian Church, 2731 Presbyterian Church Road, Lauderdale, MS 39335 or a charity of choice.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Robert Emmitt Payne III, William Brian Payne, Fredrick H. Asher, Jeptha N. Cole, Thomas P. Cole, and David N. Payne.
Visitation will be this evening and Sunday morning.

Mattie Lucile Prewitt

Graveside services for Mattie Lucile Prewitt will be held today at 10 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery with the Rev. Max Burris officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Prewitt, 88, of Meridian, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
Survivors include her great-niece, Theresa McKee and her husband, Sam, of Collinsville and several other nieces, nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Prewitt.

Bobbie Nell Holyfield Rees

Graveside services for Bobbie Nell Holyfield Rees will be held today at 12:30 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Harry Douglas officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rees, 81, of Meridian, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in Meridian. She was in real estate and worked for Holyfield Insurance Agency.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Rees of Jackson; a son, Robert “Bubba” Luzenberg and his wife, Stacy, of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Frances Becker of Baton Rouge, La., and Dera Gonzalas of Meridian; nephews, Mike Becker and Rudy Gonzalas.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Sidney “Buck” Holyfield and Robert S. Luzenberg Sr.
Visitation will be today from 10 a.m.-noon at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carter, 69, of Shubuta, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry McFarland; a son, the Rev. Kevin Carter; two brothers; one step-daughter; three step-sons and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
