Harold Dean Leverett
Funeral services for Harold Dean Leverett, 78, were held Aug. 21, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Wylie. Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.
Dr. A.L. Draper officiated.
Mr. Leverett died Aug. 8.
He was born May 16, 1926 in Dallas to Claude Leverett, Sr. and Jewell Marie (McMakin) Leverett. He graduated from Forrest High School in December 1944 and served in the US Navy during World War II in the Marshall Islands as a radioman.
He married Helen Cox on June 5, 1948 and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in January 1950 and accepted a position with Lumus Cotton Gin Company as sales engineer.
He was a businessman with a nursery in Garland until he accepted a position of assistant manager in maintenance with Rockwell International in 1966 where he worked until his retirement in 1984.
He served on the school board of Wylie ISD for 14 years and as Director for Farmers Co-op for 34 years, resigning when he moved to Greenville in June 2001.
He belonged to First Baptist Church of Wylie, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a 50 year Mason.
He married Maxine Dunaway Watson Aug. 4, 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Leverett; son, Alan Leverett of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; two daughters, Jean Leverett Hughes of Richland, Wash. and Karen Leverett Segren of Longview, Wash.; two step sons, Micah Watson of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Tim Watson of Tyler; two step-daughters, Robbi Watson Haynes of Springfield, Mo. and Ronda Watson Gold of Denver, Colo.; three brothers Claude and Leila Leverett, Jr. of Wylie, David and Barbara Leverett of Pottsboro and Gary and Tanya Leverett of Pottsboro; three grandsons, James Hughes of Richland, Wash., Jared Hughes of Austin and Scot Leverett of Carlsbad, Calif.; four granddaughters, Amy Leverett Lowe of Justin, Sarah Hughes of Wichita, Kan., Whitney Hodges of The Colony and Dacey Hodges of Shawnee, Okla.; five step-grandsons, Jeremy Watson of Tulsa, Okla., Josh Haynes of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Titus Watson of Arlington, Samuel Watson of Tyler and Kristofer Watson of Tyler; three step-granddaughters, Heidi Haynes Hargraves of Springfield, Mo., Anna Watson of Denver, Colo. and Moriah Gold of Denver, Colo.; a great granddaughter, Sydney Lowe and a step great grandson, Quinton Micah Watson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, in 1973.

Richard Lee Johnson
Funeral services for Richard Lee Johnson, 75, of Wylie, were held Aug. 24, 2004 at Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at the Nevada Cemetery.
Dr. A. L. Draper and Harry Pearce officiated.
Mr. Johnson passed away on Aug. 21, 2004 in Dallas.
He was born May 7, 1929 in Stephenville to W. T. and Flora (Moffitt) Johnson. He had worked in the installation of commercial overhead doors.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Johnson of Wylie; children, Tommy and Carol Johnson of Waxahachie, Ronald and Brenda Johnson of Balch Springs, Glen and Debbie Johnson of Scurry, Deborah May of Wylie, Cindy and Jacky Heard of Nevada, Regina McCloskey and Jeremy of Point; step-children, Millie Gardenhire of Princeton, Betty Cagle of Murphysboro, Tenn., Jeanie Lima of Plano, Charles Van Liew of Dallas and Kevin Hairston of Richardson; brother, George Johnson of Arlington; sister, Alice Barrick of Burleson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Addison Blake Caldwell
Funeral services for Addison Blake Caldwell, 12, of Wylie, were held Aug. 18, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Farmersville. Interment followed at 1.0.0.F. Cemetery in Farmersville.
Blake died Aug. 15 in Farmersville.
He was born Feb. 19, 1992 to Julie White of Dallas. Blake would have been in the 7th grade at Burnett Jr. High in Wylie this year. He was a football player and loved riding his dirt bike.
Survivors include mother and stepfather, Julie and Tony White of Wylie; sister, Audrey White of Wylie; brother, Austin White of Wylie; grandparents, Joann Caldwell of Sachse and George Caldwell of Garland; step-grandparents, Peggy and Robert White of Ardmore, Okla. and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial fund for in Blake’s honor has been established at Inwood National Bank Wylie by Cornerstone Private School.
Donations will be accepted at Inwood Bank, 201 N. Ballard Ave., or at Cornerstone, 120 Birmingham St.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville.

Betsy Carol Wood
Funeral services for Betsy Carol Wood, 70, of McKinney, were held Sept. 23, 2004, in High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney.
Dr. Michael Lewis officiated.
Mrs. Wood died Sept. 20 in a tragic automobile accident along with her youngest daughter, Lisa Martin, and three grandsons, Chance, Brock, and Reid Martin, near Sherman.
She was born Sept. 4, 1934 in McAlester, Okla. to W.A. and Ruby Brookins. After graduating from McAlester High School in 1953, she went on to complete her B.S. degree at the University of North Texas in Denton, graduating cum laude. She taught elementary school for 20 years in Texas and five years in Louisiana.
She married James R. Wood on Oct. 6, 1953, in Ada, Okla., where they were both students at East Central State College. She was a member of High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney.
According to family members, “through her positive approach to working with children, she made every effort to enable them to reach their maximum potential. At the same time, she reflected in her teaching career and as a homemaker, her love of God and a strong commitment to her family. Betsy was proud of her children and her grandchildren and loved them deeply. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”
Survivors include her husband, Dr. James R. Wood, of McKinney; sons, Ronald Wood of Washington, D.C. and Roger Wood of Tyler; daughter, Laura Lokey, son-in-law Jason Lokey, and grandchildren, Kaley, Jay and Landry Lokey, all of Farmersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and Ruby Brookins; brother, Bill Brookins; and sister, Jane Crowell.

Gerald Dewayne Friday
Graveside services for Gerald Dewayne Friday, 65, of Waco, were held Sept. 14, 2004, at Restland Cemetery in Roxtan.
Ray Hunter officiated.
Mr. Friday died Sept. 12, 2004 in in Waco.
He was born March 21, 1939, in Paris to Charlie Friday and Ora Mae Cannada Friday. He was a retired bus boy for Kips Big Boy Restaurant.
Survivors include his brother, Charles Friday and wife, Claudia, of Iowa Park; sisters, Helen Richards of Mabank, Faye Drain of Wylie and Lois Brown and her husband, Donny, of Dallas; lots of nieces and nephews; and one special niece, Barbara Johnson of Dallas, who was always there when he needed her.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin Friday; and sister, Lorraine Bates.
According to family members, “Gerald was a very special person. He never met a stranger. Even though he had special problems, he loved to talk to everyone who would listen. He loved the song, ‘He Touched Me,’ and God touched him; he was ready to go home to God. The nurses who cared for him, said that Gerald was so ‘special’ and he had a sweet spirit about him.”
Arrangements were under the direction of Rentfrow Funeral Home, Inc. of Caddo Mills.

Waller Bruce Chambers, Jr.
Graveside services for Waller Bruce Chambers, Jr., 81, of Plano, were held Sept. 21, 2004, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Mr. Chambers died Sept. 17 in Plano.
He was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Fort Worth to Waller Bruce Chambers, Sr. and Margie (McCutchin) Chambers. He enlisted in the Army and served during WWII. He married Edith Anilee Fulton Sept. 20, 1950, in Dallas. After graduating from college he was employed by Federal Aviation where he was in public relations.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Anilee Chambers of Plano; son and daughter-in-law, Brent Bruce Chambers and Carol, also of Plano, and three grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.

Virginia Moore Coffee
Funeral services for Virginia Moore Coffee, 74, of Fort Worth, were held Sept. 16, 2004, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
Interment followed at Wilson Chapel Cemetery.
The Rev. Danny Buster officiated.
Ms. Coffee died Sept. 12 in Fort Worth.
She was born July 9, 1930, in McKinney to Willie Truman and Alta Aline (Rutledge) Moore. She was a retail clerk and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Mark Crocker of Saginaw; grandchildren, Jason Crocker of Galveston and Stephanie Crocker of Saginaw; great-grandchild, Scarlett Reeder of Palm Springs, Calif.; sisters, Bonnie Strickland of Bedford, Betty Bryans of Grapevine, Ruth Hagemann and Linda Holifield, both of Bedford; brothers, George Moore of Euless and Bill Moore of Paris; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and other loving relatives.
Arrangements were under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.

Robert George Stults
Funeral services for Robert George Stults, 76, of Rowlett, were held Sept. 18, 2004, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Wylie.
Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Dr. Dan Rainey officiated.
Mr. Stults died Sept. 14.
He was born Oct. 31, 1927, in Plano, to John William and Minnie Marie (Dickerson) Stults. He married Martha Jane Conoly Jan. 22, 1949, in Garland.
He was a plant manager for US Brass.
Survivors include his sons, Robert Wayne Stults and his wife Valerie of Rowlett, Tim Stults of Carrollton and Mark Stults of Garland; daughter, Lisa Shattenkirk and her husband Walt of Cypress; brother, John Stults and his wife, Dorothy of Mineola; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren, several nephews and one niece.

Terry Lee Gregory
Terry Lee Gregory, 61, of Allen, died Sept. 2, 2004, in Allen.
He was born July 21, 1943, in Shreveport, La., to Harold Lloyd and Charlene Gregory.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; sons, Robert Gregory of Allen and Rodney Gregory of West Tawakoni; daughters, Jade Gregory of Allen and Sherry Spiegel of West Tawakoni; brother, Forrest H. Gregory of Halfway, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.
According to family members, he was “a hard worker, dedicated to providing for his family.”
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home in Wylie.

Edelia Fernandez Voight
Graveside services for Edelia Fernandez Voight, 77, of Plano, were held Sept. 7, 2004, at the Plano Mutual Cemetery.
Minister Eric Hogue officiated.
Mrs. Voight died Sept. 3 in Dallas.
She was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Havana, Cuba. She was a beautician for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Vixtoria V. Burciaga of Plano.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home in Wylie.

Victor Villaruz Baskinas
Mass for Victor Villaruz Baskinas, 47, of Wylie, was conducted Sept. 8, 2004, at Allen Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Baskinas died Sept. 3 in Plano.
He was born Oct. 19, 1956, in Baguio City, Philippines to Emiliano and Carmen (Villaruz) Baskinas. He was employed as an electronics technician by Flextronics International. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Vianney N. Baskinas of Baguio City, Philippines; son, Vaugh Baskinas, and daughter, Vina N. Baskinas, both of Baguio City, Philippines; brothers, Ernesto Baskinas of Wylie, Mario and Reybart Baskinas, both of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Corazon B. Clemente and Grace B. Hamada, both of San Diego, Calif., Rose Emily B. Quinto of Delran, N.J. and Sabina B.
Concepcion of Baguio City, Philippines; half-sisters, Leticia B. Trono and Lydia B. Espirim, both of Manila, Philippines, and Lourdes B. Dunglao of Jacksonville, Fla. and half-brother, Emiliano Baskinas, Jr. of Laguna, Philippines.

Danny Keith Ross
Graveside services for Danny Keith Ross, 56, of Mexia, were held Sept. 6, 2004, at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
Mr. Ross died Sept. 4.
He was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Wylie to Pike and Ruth (Deal) Ross.
Survivors include his brothers, Bobby Ross of Wylie, Perry Ross of Quinlan and David Ross of Valley Falls, Kan.

Jason Scott Larey
Funeral services for Jason Scott Larey, age 1, of Wylie, were held Sept. 4, 2004, at Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Wylie. Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.

Jason died Sept. 1 in Dallas.
He was born Aug. 20, 2003, in Richardson to Ransom and Sylvia (Melendez) Larey.
Survivors include his parents, Ransom and Sylvia Larey of Wylie; sister, Devon Danielle Larey of Wylie; grandparents, Jackie and June Larey of Texarkana, Ark., Virginia DuQue of Waco and Rose and Ben Bailey of Springhill, La.

Jewell Janice Branch Brooks
Funeral services for Jewell Janice Branch Brooks, 90, were held Sept. 7, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Wylie. Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Parkerson officiated.
Mrs. Brooks died Sept. 2 in Dallas.
She was born Sept. 2, 1914, in Wylie to George and Sarah Branch.
Survivors include her son, Donald Brooks and wife, Jane; two daughters, Janice Wallens and Shirley Gahagan and husband, Curtis; eight grandchildren, Donald Brooks, Larry Spencer, Saundra Brown, Liberty Cowden, Crystal Smith, Michael Wallens, Jr., Meghan Brooks and John Gahagan; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Milton Branch and wife, Billie; and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Weldon Brooks; parents; sister, Zelma Lee Midel and nephew Bobby Larry Branch.

Joel A. Rabb
Funeral services for Joel A. Rabb, 83, of Commerce, were held Aug. 31, 2004 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel in Wolfe City. Interment followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Pallbearers were his grandchildren.
The Rev. Lisa Greenwood-Wolcott officiated.
Mr. Rabb died Aug. 28 in the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs, following a short illness.
He was born May 31, 1921, in Point to Basil Barney (B.B.) Rabb and Daisy Morris Rabb. He was married on Dec. 25, 1994 to Margaret (Peggy) Wood at Boling Field in Washington, D.C.
He graduated from East Texas State Teachers College and received his masters degree from Teachers College of Columbus University.
He was principal of Wylie High School and had served as superintendent of schools in Point.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of the Rabb Bros. American Legion Post 156 of Rains County. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wolfe City, the National Audubon Society and was retired from Henington Publishing Co. and Wal-Mart.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Della and Steve Ging of Lodi, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Beth Rabb of Columbus, Ohio, Clinton and Suzanne Rabb of Austin and Robert and Tina Rabb of Commerce; sisters, Mary Beth Tuck of Commerce and Bobbye Areen of Vandalia, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of R.A. Owens & Sons Funeral Home in Wolfe City.

Edna Louise Edmondson
Funeral services for Edna Louise Edmondson, 91, of Wylie, were held Aug. 30, 2004 at Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was to at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.

Mrs. Edmondson died Aug. 26 in Plano.
She was born May 23, 1913, in Ridgewood, N.J., to Alfred C. and Edna Agnes Portsmore. She was a beautician for many years.
Survivors include her son, Bruce D. Epple of Wylie; step-daughter, Betty Fletcher of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred B. Edmondson.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Henry Sherman Phillips
A memorial service for Henry Sherman Phillips, 63, of Wylie, was held Aug. 25, 2004 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Sachse.
Mr. Phillips died Aug. 22 following a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was born May 23, 1941, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Harold and Mary Phillips.
Survivors include daughters, Shelly Jorgensen of Lucas and Sherie Burney of Otho, Iowa; son, Michael Phillips of Garland; grandchildren, Jakob Jorgensen, Tyler Burney and Megan Burney; brother, Russell Phillips and sister, Marlys Phillips.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Sachse.

Corenne Hicks Greer
Funeral services for Corenne Hicks Greer, 88, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 1, 2004, at Central Christian Church, 4711 Westside Dr. in Dallas. Interment services will be at 3 p.m. in the Little Elm Cemetery.
The Rev. Norman Stolpe will officiate.
Mrs. Greer died Aug. 29.
She was born on Dec. 3, 1915, in Wylie. She graduated from North Texas in 1938 and received her master’s degree from East Texas State in 1968. She retired in 1978 with 40 years of service as a teacher and librarian in a number of school districts including 25 years with Dallas ISD.
She was a member of several book clubs, holding numerous offices. She enjoyed traveling extensively all over the world. She was an active member of Central Christian Church in Dallas for over 54 years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Lana Greer of Fort Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Kent of Dallas; grandchildren, J.J. Kent and wife Carla of McKinney, Kelley Kent of Dallas, Rebecca Kent of Statesboro, Ga. and Patrick Kent of Dallas; step-grandchildren, Diana White and husband Mark of Clarendon, Jill Fitzgerald and husband Mike of Watauga and Scott Erwin and wife Wendy of Dallas; step-great-grandchildren ,Ty, Trent and Brandon; sister-in-law, Jimmielee Greer of Flagstaff, Ariz.; nephew, Bob Greer of Sedona, Ariz.;; her niece ,Marinell Tomlinson of Dallas and many cousins and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, William David Greer, Sr.; her parents, Carl and Maye Hicks and brother, Cornell Hicks of Wylie.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Johnson of Wylie; children, Tommy and Carol Johnson of Waxahachie, Ronald and Brenda Johnson of Balch Springs, Glen and Debbie Johnson of Scurry, Deborah May of Wylie, Cindy and Jacky Heard of Nevada, Regina McCloskey and Jeremy of Point; step-children, Millie Gardenhire of Princeton, Betty Cagle of Murphysboro, Tenn., Jeanie Lima of Plano, Charles Van Liew of Dallas and Kevin Hairston of Richardson; brother, George Johnson of Arlington; sister, Alice Barrick of Burleson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Addison Blake Caldwell
Funeral services for Addison Blake Caldwell, 12, of Wylie, were held Aug. 18, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Farmersville. Interment followed at 1.0.0.F. Cemetery in Farmersville.
Blake died Aug. 15 in Farmersville.
He was born Feb. 19, 1992 to Julie White of Dallas. Blake would have been in the 7th grade at Burnett Jr. High in Wylie this year. He was a football player and loved riding his dirt bike.
Survivors include mother and stepfather, Julie and Tony White of Wylie; sister, Audrey White of Wylie; brother, Austin White of Wylie; grandparents, Joann Caldwell of Sachse and George Caldwell of Garland; step-grandparents, Peggy and Robert White of Ardmore, Okla. and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial fund for in Blake’s honor has been established at Inwood National Bank Wylie by Cornerstone Private School.
Donations will be accepted at Inwood Bank, 201 N. Ballard Ave., or at Cornerstone, 120 Birmingham St.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville.
