Sherman, Ct. – Lucille Marie Wheeler, 90, passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at her home in Sherman, Ct.
Mrs. Wheeler was a graduate of Rhinebeck Central Schools and Moran’s SecretCourier School, Kingston. She was a member of the Church of the Messiah, Rhinebeck and the Kent Episcopal Church.
Born November 26, 1915 in the Bronx, she was the daughter of Alfred R. and Hermine E. (Thatcher) Loweth.
Her husband, Donald E. Wheeler, predeceased her in 1955.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Louise Wheeler of Sherman, Ct., three grandchildren Willow Brenner and her husband Robert; Alexandria Wheeler and Nathan Wheeler; three great grandchildren Emma Lyn, Cazden and Sagley Brenner; two sisters Ethel Liub and Lillian Loweth; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, John and William Loweth; and a sister Alice Bates.
Calling hours are Friday, June 2nd, 10 to 11 AM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Fr. Gerald Gallagher will officiate. Burial will be in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.

Maxwell Albert Houghton
Rhinebeck, NY
Maxwell Albert Houghton, 82, of Rhinebeck, NY, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City, FL.
He was an auto mechanic employed by Rhinebeck Chevrolet in Rhinebeck for 30 years.
A Rhinebeck resident since 1954, he spent his winters in Zepher Hills, FL.
Maxwell was a member of the Woodstock Car Club and the Hudson Valley Old Time Power Association, Inc. He enjoyed yard sales, old cars, old engines, and tinkering with anything mechanical.
He served in the US Army from 1945 until 1948.
Born December 24, 1923, in Cabot, VT, he was the son of the late Eastman Carroll and Mabel Kathrin (Smith) Houghton. His wife, Marion (Chamberlin) Houghton died on February 8, 1997.
He is survived by one son & daughter-in-law: Carroll (“Sandy”) & Lorraine Houghton of Rhinebeck, NYand his sisters; Carolyn Caswell of East Hartford, CT, Elna Russell of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Vivian LaVoie of Connecticut. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Cabot Village Cemetery in Cabot, VT.

Dorothy R. Lipton, 94, of Rhinebeck, NY, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at her home.
A teacher at Junior High #162 in Brooklyn for many years, she retired in 1976. After her retirement she and her husband moved here from Lynbrook, NY.
During World War II, she served in the WAAC doing communications work.
Born January 2, 1912, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ida (Orum) Rudick. Her husband, Sidney, died July 31, 1995.
She is survived by her sister: Yvette Halperin of Brooklyn, NY, her 2 nephews: Jack Halperin and his wife Harriet of Woodmere, NY, and Charles Halperin of Bloomington, IN, a great nephew: Stephen Halperin, and her friend: Diana Johnson of Hurley, NY.
Her sister, Rose Schielman, predeceased her.
Entombment will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 26th, at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Joy Helen (Paydon) Rodriguez, 49, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006, at her home in Brooklyn.
Joy worked with her husband for their business, York Street Check Cashing, Brooklyn, NY.
Born March 12, 1957 in Rhinebeck, she was the daughter of the late Jerry J. Paydon who passed away in 1998 and Ruth Bunce Paydon of Rhinebeck.
Joy is survived by her husband William Rodriguez, three children, Evan, Neil and Liana, all of Brooklyn; a brother Joseph M. Paydon of New Paltz; two sisters Mary Lynn Place of Germantown and Lisa Ann Sharp of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Saturday, May 27, 2006, 11AM to 1 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.

Eileen Mary McEleney, 43, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston
Eileen was a Sergeant with the New York Police Department working at 1 Police Plaza until receiving a scholarship for a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the JFK School of Government at Harvard University. She was a graduate of Red Hook High School; and received a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Albany and a Masters in Business Degree from Pace University
Eileen was born August 30, 1962 in the Bronx to Patrick F. and Joan E. (Breen) McEleney of Rhinebeck, NY.
In addition to her parents she is survived by four brothers, Patrick, and his wife Judith of Glenville, NY; Brian of New York City, Dennis of London, England; and Neil, and his wife Missie of Patterson, NY; six nephews Sean, Ryan, Brendan and Conor, Christopher and Robert; and a niece Becky.

Michael James McGoldrick, 46, of Meriden, CT and a former longtime Kingston resident, died suddenly on Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 at the Mid State Medical Center in Meriden, CT.
He was a graduate of Garden City High School and attended Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
Several years ago Michael earned a silver award in a baking and pastry competition through the Society Philanthropic. He continued his career working as a cook and baker in many restaurants throughout the area.
Born on October 18, 1959 in Astoria, NY, he was the son of the John and Dolores (Zahora) McGoldrick.
Michael married Sheryl A. Norton in September 2003 in Barrytown, NY.
He is survived by his wife: Sheryl A. (Norton) McGoldrick, of Meriden, CT, his mother: Dolores McGoldrick of Hurley, NY and two sisters: Kathleen Cole of Hurley, NY and Eileen McGoldrick of Colorado.
He was predeceased by his father, John McGoldrick.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24th, 2006 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. Cremation will be at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston.

Helen Bowe, 90, passed away Friday, May 19, 2006, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck.
Mrs. Bowe was a communicant of the Good Shepherd Church, Rhinebeck, and a volunteer at the Starr Library. She was a graduate of James Madison High School Class of 1934 and had been employed as a secretary Socony Mobil and S. B. Pennick in New York City and Conver in San Diego, CA.
Mrs. Bowe enjoyed Gardening and Sewing and was an excellent cook.
Born February 4, 1916 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Louis J. and Amelia (Cosegcia) Bigge.
On December 26, 1955, she married Walter E. Bowe in Brooklyn; Mr. Bowe passed away May 13, 1988.
Mrs. Bowe is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lisa Bowe and their son Garth of Claverack, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, Joseph Bigge, Olga Holly, Amelia Foley, Rose Manley, Reynold W. Bigge, Julia Nucci and Theresa Bigge.

Henry R. (Hank) Stanton

Henry (Hank) Stanton of Rock Hill died on Thursday May 18, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 79.
He was the son of the late Walter and Mae Sullivan Stanton and was born on May 23, 1926 in Pond Eddy, NY.
Hank was a retired harness horse trainer and driver. He raced at the Monticello Raceway. He received the Monticello Harness Horseman’s Assn. Man of the Year Award in the year 2000.
Survivors include his spouse, Marjorie Stanton of Rock Hill; a son, Henry H. Stanton of Rock Hill; a daughter, Sharon Stanton of Rock Hill and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mary Margaret "Peggy" Verrotti

Mary Margaret ‘Peggy’ Verrotti, 90, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Mrs. Verrotti was a native of Poughkeepsie and had previously resided in Rhinebeck and Leland, NC, before returning to Poughkeepsie in 2005.
She had been employed for 28 years by Western Publishing as the Chief Switchboard Operator.
Mrs. Verrotti was the founder and first president of the Retirees of Western Publishing. She was a member and Eucharistic Minister of the Good Shepherd Church, Rhinebeck; the American Legion Auxiliary Post #37, Poughkeepsie; the Women’s Society of Good Shepherd Church; and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Ferncliff Nursing Home. She was also an avid bowler.
Mrs. Verrotti was predeceased by her first husband Clinton A. Parker and her second husband Thomas L. Verrotti.
Born December 7, 1915 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Katrina Agatha (Erts) Coty.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Frances Parker of Wappingers Falls, and Lee and Sharon Parker of Leland, NC; a daughter and son-in-law Lynne A. Parker-Schopf, and her husband Richard; a sister Patricia Condon of San Diego, CA; a sister Jean Marie Cox of Poughkeepsie; four grandchildren, Michael Parker, Tracy McGregor, Sarah Schopf and Gus Green; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers Richard, Harry and Alfred Coty; and one sister Ann Dillon.
Calling hours are Friday, 4 to 7 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck. Prayers will be offered at 6:30 PM.

Mildred “Midge” Wells, retired housekeeping supervisor for Grossinger’s Hotel in Liberty and lifetime area resident, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 71.
The daughter of Henry and Olive Purcell Wells, she was born on June 5, 1935 in Ellenville, NY.
She was a member of the Liberty Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include her stepmother, Elizabeth Cox of Liberty; 2 daughters, Tina Wells Tompkins and husband Jack of Liberty and Sherri Ann Turick Lutman and husband Peter of Monticello; 3 brothers, Robert Cox of Liberty, Julius Wells of Baltimore, MD and Charles Wells of Rifton, NY; 3 sisters, Olive “Peaches” Stone of Liberty, Louise Steinhilber of Rifton, NY and Henrietta Cox of High Falls, NY; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 brothers, John Wells and Donald Bebee.

Robert H. Trumbull, 68, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 11, 2006, at his home in Milan with his loving family by his side.
Robert worked his entire life as an actor on stage, screen and television; he was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Equity and AFTRA. A few of his many roles were in Undercover Brother, Six Degrees of Separation, The Verdict, Wall Street, General Hospital, One Life to Live, Law and Order, and The Late Show.
In 1995 Robert moved to Milan from New York City and has been very active in Milan town politics. He also enjoyed golf, his membership at Red Hook Golf Course; and gardening.
Born February 8, 1938 in San Rafael, CA, he was the son of Robert and Marjorie (MacDonald) Trumbull.
Robert is survived by his wife, Deborah Bergman, whom he married May 20, 1990 in New York City; a son Robert of North Bergen, NJ; two step-children, Rhea Bernstein of Santa Cruz, CA, and Daniel Bernstein of Jacksonville, FL; and two grandchildren Kemper and Jack.
Friends are invited to call Sunday, 3 to 6 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck.

Robert Franklin Becker

Robert Franklin Becker, “Captain Bob”, age 62 of Red Hook, NY, arrived in Heaven Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born July 20, 1944, in Rhinebeck, he was the son of the late Walter W. Becker and Anna P. (Coon) Becker. He is also predeceased by two sisters, Sandy Becker and Ruthanne Empert.
Bob loved spending time with family and friends, boating, fishing, photography, playing his drums, and caring for his pets. He had a talent of accomplishment in every trade. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him.
A Sergeant in the United States Army, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with two Overseas Bars.
He was an active member of the Red Hook Post #7765 VFW, and of the Vietnam War Veterans.
Bob is survived by his daughter Mary Sanchez, her husband David Sanchez, and his two grandsons, Devin Sanchez and Dylan Sanchez of Ellenville, NY, two sisters: Kathleen Albano of Reno, NV, Janet Moore of Elizaville, NY, two brothers: Walter E. Becker of Palenville, NY, and David Becker of Red Hook, NY, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM on Saturday, Aug. 12th, at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. The Rev. Ryan T. Nace will officiate. Interment, with full military honors, will be at 2PM Wednesday, August 16th, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 - 3 & 5 - 6:30PM. The VFW will hold services at 6PM.

Thomas F. McNeely
Johnson City, NY
Thomas Francis McNeely (nee Albonesi), passed away on Aug.2, 2006 at the James G. Johnson Nursing Home in Johnson City, NY. He was 91.
Tom was born on April 15, 1915 in Dumont, NJ, the son of Charles and Ruth McNeely Albonesi. After his mother’s death, he was raised by his aunts and grew up and lived most of his life in Monticello, NY. One of his favorite childhood memories was fishing with Babe Ruth at St. Josephs’ in Forestburgh, NY. He starred in both football and track at Monticello High School and held the school record in the 440 for over thirty years. He served in the US Army 51st Field Artillery Battalion and as a medic in the Pacific during WW II. He joined his aunt as business manager of the Hamilton Ave. Hospital in Monticello where he was also known for his skill as an X-ray technician. Later he worked tirelessly as the proprietor of the United Cigar Store and then the Book Nook, also in Monticello. For the last 15 years, he has enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Florida. He moved to Johnson City in 2001. He was a longtime member of the Masons and was active in the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Margaret Seargent McNeely of Johnson City, NY; 2 daughters Alice McNeely and husband John Smigelski of Windsor, NY and Carol Ehrets and husband Walter of Forestburgh, NY; 1 son, Peter McNeely and wife Yolande of Glen Spey, NY; five grandchildren, Owen, Seth and Caitlin Smigelski and Laurel and Russell Ehrets and cousins Muriel Nemits, Barbara Yanchitis and Frances Alford and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello on Sat. August 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday August 13th at 1 PM at the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian with Rev. Robert McLeod officiating.
Interment of ashes will take place at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd. Liberty on Sunday August 13th at 4 PM with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Tom’s name to the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian, 11 Jones St. Monticello, NY 12701.

Marie was a resident of the Ferncliff Nursing Home since 2001 and had previously resided in Saugerties.
Born July 15, 1935 in New York City she was the daughter of Paul and Doris Griffan.

Earlean B. Mc Coy, a longtime resident of Monticello, was called home to God on Saturday August 5, 2006 in Adventure, Fl.
She was 65. She was born on June 16, 1941 in Bay Minette, AL to the late Taylor and Essie O’Bannon Bracey. She was pre deceased by her husband Gerald on Dec. 30, 1997.
She was an LPN at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris,NY and a member of King’s Chapel Mission in Monticello, where she was President of the Usher Board.
She is survived by 1 son; Gerald Michael Mc Coy of New Carrolton,MD 2 daughters; Brundia “Poochie” Parker of Monticello,NY and Carmen Bickham of Severn,MD 6 brothers; Samuel Bracey, Taylor Bracey Jr, Jimmy Bracey, and Tim Koen all of Monticello,NY and Leslie “Sonny” Bracey of South Carolina and Steve Bracey of New York,NY 2 sisters; Gladys Smith and Millie White of Miami,FL 5 Grandchildren and a Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers in law and friends.

Louise Dean, a lifetime Sullivan County resident, passed away on Saturday August 5, 2006 at Kingston City Hospital. She was 82.
The daughter of Raymond and Ora TerBush George, she was born on August 28, 1923 in Sundown, NY.
Louise was a member of the Lowes Corners Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Revonah-Lincoln Kiamesha Chapter OES #433, a past chaplin and officer of the OES; a charter member of the Neverisnk Ladies Auxiliary and a charter member of the Neversink First Aide Squad.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Archie T. Dean Jr. at home; 1 son, George A. Dean and his wife Barbara of Neversink; 2 daughters, Carolyn Louise Hill of Neversink and Bonnie Sue VanDenberg and her husband Glenn of Claryville; 14 grandchildren, Stephanie Moraine, Pamela DeMarmels, Craig Dean, Kristy Closs, Kylie Conjura, Nikki Dean, Stephen Poley, Deanna Poley, Danielle Poley, Bryan Poley, Christopher Poley, Brittany Poley, Jennifer and Amy VanDenberg; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley M. Poley and a sister, Hazel Akers.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Tuesday August 8, 2006 at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty. The Neversink Ladies Auxiliary will hold services at 7 PM;The Neversink First Aide Squad at 7:45 PM and the OES Services will be at 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 9, 2006 at 1 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Homes Inc. Rev. Maybelle Renz will officiate.
Burial will be in Rural Cemetery in Grahamsville, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Neversink First Aide Squad, RT 55, Neversink, NY 12765 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Julia Smiley Dent
Monticello, NY
Julia Smiley Dent, a 50-year area resident, departed this life on Friday August 4, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 78.
The daughter of Richard and Hattie Jenkins Smiley, she was born on June 16, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina.
She was the widow of James Eugene Dent who died in 1966. Julia impacted the lives of many young people as well as old. She was a great friend who extended herself to anyone in need and was an outstanding role model for anyone she interacted with.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her loving memories include 2 sons, Jimmy Dent and wife Kay of Monticello and Jesse Dent and wife Nicole of Phoenix, AZ; 2 daughters, Geraldine Armstead of Monticello and Janie Dent of West Hartford, CT; a brother, Jesse Smiley of Allentown, PA; a sister, Mary Louise Robinson of Brooklyn; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Monday August 7, 2006 at Tannery Village, 47 Richardson Ave., Monticello.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.

Lilly Kurth
Liberty, NY
Lilly Kurth, a longtime resident of Liberty, passed away on Wed. August 2, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 80.
Lilly was born on December 3, 1925 in Paris, France. She was a waitress at Rocky’s Restaurant in Monticello and was a longtime waitress at the Triangle Diner in Liberty.
She is survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Betty Thurber of Liberty.
Friends may call at Ramsay's Funeral Homes Inc. 275 S. Main St. Liberty on Wed. August 9, 2006 from 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 8 PM.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

Charles L. Burns
Moira, NY
Charles L. Burns, 73, of 371 County Route 6, Moira, NY, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY. He had been a patient there since July 14.
Born in Newburgh, NY, June 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Frank and Jame Terwilleger Yozzo. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1952.
He served in the United States Army from March 1953 until March 1956 and was Honorably Discharged.
Charles worked as a janitor at the Orange County Home Infirmary in Goshen, NY from 1974 until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by one daughter and a son-in-law, Catherine and William Beam, of Malone, NY, and three grandchildren, James Wilson, Tommy Lee and Dylan Beam.
There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held Monday at noon at the Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor,NY.
Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone, NY.
Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.

Charlene Yvonne Heeb
Rhinebeck, NY
Charlene Yvonne Heeb, 62, of Rhinebeck, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie.
Charlene was a lifelong Rhinebeck resident and graduate of Rhinebeck High School, Class of 1962.
A registered nurse, Charlene was employed at the Northern Dutchess Hospital and Ferncliff Nursing Home. Charlene was an avid baseball and race car fan; she loved her animals, bird watching; and collecting humming bird figurines and lighthouses.
Born July 27, 1944, at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, she was the daughter of Charles and Helen Pearson Heeb.
Charlene is survived by her fiancée, Scott Hunter of Rhinebeck; her children, Robert Bartolomeo, Jr. of Modena, NY; Bruce Bartolomeo of Pine Plains; Lizetta Bartolomeo of Highland, Michelle Ermo of Poughkeepsie; Matthew Hunter, Michael Hunter and Danielle Hunter; her grandchildren Lizetta, Ronald, Monica and Alyssa Fraleigh, Robert Bartolomeo III, Melissa Bartolomeo, and Michael Hunter, Jr.; a brother Bruce Heeb of Melbourne, Fl.; and her fiancée’s parents Glenn and Margaret Hunter.
Calling hours are Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck.
Funeral services are Tuesday, 10:30 AM, at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 568 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck.
