Marie A. Marano of Maybrook, NY, a lifelong resident, died Thursday, April 13, 2000 at Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen, NY. She was 66. She was born March 30, 1934 in Middletown, NY, the daughter of James J. and Jennie Centrone Marano.
She was the Town Clerk for the Town of Montgomery for 34 years. She was a Eucharist Minister of the Church of the Assumption, Maybrook, NY, Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, President of the Parish Council of the Church of the Assumption, Past President of the Town of Montgomery Republican Club, President of the Walden Women's Club, past President of the NYS Federation of Women's Clubs, member of the NYS Town Clerks Association, member of the Board of Directors of the Wallkill Valley Health Center, and board member of the Wesley Hall Association.
She is survived by four sisters, Clara Mott and Rose Daidone, both of New Windsor, and Cecile Coburn and Lena York, both of Maybrook, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY. funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, Maybrook. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Assumption or Maybrook Rescue Squad.

Irma Gonzalez Heller of Maybrook, NY, a resident since 1954, died on Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen, NY. She was 68. She was born April 13, 1932 in Puerto Rico.
She was a child care provider at Heather's Child Place, Montgomery, NY.
She is survived by her husband, Karl F. Heller, at home; one son, Karl F. Heller, Jr. of Dover, NH; two daughters, JoAnn Bennett of Garland, TX and Iris Petrillo of Newburgh, NY; three brothers, John Gonzalez of Tucson, AZ, Frank Gonzalez of Bloomingburg, NY, Joseph Gonzalez of Manassas, VA; two sisters, Isabelle Noriega of McLean, VA, Iris Breiner of Claryville, NY; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Tony and Nestor Gonzalez.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Maybrook Fire Department or the Maybrook VFW Post 2064.

Mrs. Angelina Puma of Matamoras, PA, a 52 year resident of the area, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at her home. She was 94. She was born May 13, 1905 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Ralph and late Marie Polumba Preta.
She was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA and the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church. A family statement read: "Angie was a loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who brought job and laughter to her family and friends. She'll be remembered for her gentle heart and great sense of humor. We'll all miss her. Her hobbies included bingo, card playing and crossword puzzles. And, a special thanks to Marie Messner, Angie's best friend and caregiver."
Survivors are a daughter, Josephine "Tootsie" Santos, of Matamoras, PA, two sisters, Anna Fedorka and Bella Blondo, both of Matamoras, PA, three grandchildren, Anthony Santostefano and his wife, Marla, of Hackettstown, NJ, Elaine Greiner and her husband, Walter, of Westtown, NY, James Santos and his wife, Martha, of Middletown, NY, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis,on Thursday, April 13, 2000, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with a Christian Wake Service at 2:15 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2000, at 9:30 a.m. at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church with Rev John J. Turi officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.

Pat O'Neil, a resident of Middletown, NY, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Horton Medical Center. She was 68.
The daughter of Frank and Irene Dunagan Smith, she was born Irene Patricia Smith, March 1, 1932, in Monticello, NY.
She was a manager for the New York Telephone Company in Mt. Kisco. She was a member of the New York Telephone Company Pioneers and the Euristic Minister and Lector for St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Benjamin of Bloomingburg, and two sons, John O'Neil Jr. of Hurleyville, NY and Kevin O'Neil of Woodbourne, NY, one sister, Margaret O'Neil of Hurleyville, four granddaughters, three great granddaughters and two great grandsons, several nieces and nephews.

Milton Louis Kuhlman
Middletown, NY
Milton Louis Kuhlman of Middletown, a retired fireman for the City of Middletown, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. The son of the late Charles and Phoebe Sutton Kuhlman, he was born on October 4, 1920, in Middletown. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. He was an Army paratrooper during WWII, serving in the Pacific and European Theatres. He was awarded a Purple Heart on December 28, 1943,
after he was wounded in combat. He was also awarded the Canadian Parachute Silver Maple Leaf Wings by the Canadian Army for his service with the Canadian First Special Service Force during WWII. In 1965, Mr. Kuhlman received a Certificate of Recognition from the American Red Cross "for extraordinary personal action contributing to the saving of a human life"
Mr. Kuhlman was a member of the Universalist Church of Middletown, member and past master of the Middletown Hoffman Lodge #412, member since 1974 of the Shawanga Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4947 of Bloomingburg, 60-year member of Middletown's Ontario Hose Company No. 5, member of the Orange County Shrine Club, 22-year member of Middletown American Legion Post #151, member B.P.O.E. #1097, 51-year member of the Disabled American Veterans, member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge and Council Chapter Consistory, and member of the Lost Mountain Hunting Club in Sullivan County. He was a former Boy Scout scoutmaster and he served on the Veterans Advisory Committee to the 22nd Congressional District in 1987-88.
Mr. Kuhlman is survived at home by his loving wife, Dorothy Kuhlman, whom he married in 1947 at the North Congregational Church in Middletown; his cousin, Mary Jane Carey, of Georgia, and close family friend Gloria Robinson of Middletown.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Reverend Timothy Woodard will officiate. Internment will be in Cuddebackville Rural Cemetery, Cuddebackville.

Karin Lynn Dino, of Middletown, NY, a lifetime area resident, died Friday, June 2, at home. She was 45. The daughter of John and Virginia Hall Chambers, she was born June 7, 1954 in Middletown.
She was the Director of the Guild of St. Margaret and Administrator, from inception, of the Soup Kitchen and R.E.N.T. (Relief from Eviction for Needy Tenants) Program at Grace Episcopal Church, Middletown. She served on the church Vestry, a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, and worked on the Homebound Outreach Program. She was responsible for securing and administering the USDA Summer Feeding Service Program for Children in Middletown. She is a past president and current board member for the Middletown Meals on Wheels program. In 1997 she received the Woman of the Year award from the New York Episcopal Diocese.
She is survived by her husband Michael Dino; two sons, Christopher J. Dino and Matthew M. Dino, at home; her parents of Middletown; sister Cheryl Chambers of Hillsboro, NJ; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vesper services will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church, 64 North Street, Middletown. Following Vespers, the family will receive friends until 9 p.m. at the church. A requiem mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Following cremation, Karin's ashes will be placed in the Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium.

Mr. Alfred Blair "Mac" Magill of Port Jervis, NY, retired from the Long Island Press, Jamaica, NY, and resident of the area for 25 years, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Horton Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 86. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Port Jervis.
An Army veteran of WWII, he was member and Guard at the Roosa-Fleming VFW Post No. 161, Port Jervis and Past Commander of the Merrick-Freeport Henry Theodore Mohr VFW Post No. 1310 of Merrick, Long Island.
A family statement read, "During his lifetime, he was dedicated to the VFW and loved all of his family."
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Thomas Magill at home; one son, Alfred Westley Magill of Mastic, NY; one daughter, Susan Baldock of Bohemia, NY; three step sons, Robert McKean of Manhattan, NY, Patrick McKean of Port Jervis, NY, Donald McKean of Brooklyn, NY; one step daughter, Chrisine Gibbs of Port Jervis, NY; three sisters, Eunice Market of Sun City, AZ, Alice Chappman of Shelbina, MI, Grace Valentine of Willingsboro, NJ, and Gloria Craig of Ozark, ALA; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bradley Magill, a step son John M. McKean, and a grandson, Edward Baldock, III.

Gerald E. "Jerry" O'Donnell, a resident of Bloomingburg, formerly of Pearl River, NY, died Tuesday, May 39, 2000, at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. He was 71. The son of Edward O'Donnell and Bridget O'Boyle O'Donnell Carbray, he was born August 11, 1928, in Brooklyn.
He retired after 34 years as a conductor for Long Island Railroad. He served as a firefighter in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served many years as a firefighter in Valley Cottage Fire Company, a past Deputy Grand Knight and member of Middletown Council $\#486, Knights of Columbus and as a past Faithful Navigator for Middletown Assembly #0762 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Bloomingburg, where he was an usher.
He is survived by his wife Patricia O'Connor O'Donnell at home; one daughter, Kathleen Habesland and her husband, Torhjorn of Mt. Hope; one son, John Michael O'Donnell; and "like a son" Andrew Callahan of Walden; three granddaughters, Bridget P. Habesland of Manhattan, Kristen A. Habesland of Manhattan, and Kristen A. Habesland of Mt. Hope; one sister, Rose Wrage of Gulfport, FL; one brother, James O'Donnell of Rutherford, NC; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Timothy, two brothers, Walter and Thomas, two sisters, Margaret Ryan and Catherine Zabinski, and one step sister, Margaret Deutsch.

Mr. Nelson was a certified dental technician and former president of Dayton Dental Company.
The son of the late Robert and Iva McBride Nelson, he was bornon September 20, 1916 in Middletown.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of world War II, a member of American Legion Post 151, Middletown B.P.O.E., and a 50-year member of Monhagen Engine Company #1.
He is survived at home by his loving wife, Betty Holt Nelson, whom he married Feb. 12, 1944, in Middletown; two daughters, Nancy N. Schmidt and her husband, Edward A., and Pemela J. Fucito and her husband, Paul A.; and by four grandchildren, Brian, Adnrew, Mark and Jennifer. He was predeceased by one brother, Jack L. Nelson.
Friends are invited to call from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, September 29, at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. the son of the late George and Mable Carter Corkey, he was born on January 9, 1914, in Middletown.
Mr. Corkey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Denton, a 50-year member of the Phoenix Engine Co. #4.
He is survived at home by his wife, Dorothy Doyle Corkey, whom he married August 8, 1937, one son, Robert Corkey; one daughter, Elizabeth Naramore; brother george gorkey and his wire Ileane; grandchildren Barbara Shirk and her husband, Joseph, and Chis Corkey; and grat grandchildren Akiya and Matilda Shirk.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 26, at 11 a.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. Rev. William W. Wildeman will officiate.
Intermet of the cremains will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Collins Teagan, she was bornon June 4, 1914, in Springfield,. She was the widow of Frank W. Kuroski, who died in February 1976. Mrs. Kuroski was a member of Ourt Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Kuroski and his wife, Jeanette, and Raymond Kuroski and his companion, Barbara Uszenski, all of Middletown; one brother, William Teagan and his wife, Teresa, of Brick, NJ; one grandson, Jesse; and by several nieces and nephews nd great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Audrey Housson.

The daughter of Frank and Kinda Powell Witherel, she was born January 22, 1926 in Hurleyville. She was the widow of Eugene Barry Sr. A homemaker, she enjoyed bingo and was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two sons, Eugene, Jr. of Middletown, and Kevin of Montgomery; two grand daughters, Allyson and Morgan Barry of Montgomery. She was predeceased by three sons, Robert, Harold and Edward Barry.

She is survived by one sister, Vegee Murray of Springhill, FL; three nephews, Timothy, Kevin and Packy Murray; and one neice, Dawn Pelaez.

Archalous Sahakian of Middltown, a homemaker, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 94. The daughter of the late Hagop and Dirouhje Tellian Bakhtiarian, she was born on January 5, 1906, in Kayseri, Turkey.
Archalous, the Armenian name for "Dawn," was a survivor of the Armenian Genocide of 1914. Left behind in hiding in Turkey as her parents and siblings were forcibly deported to the arid deserts of the Middle east, she was able to survive educating herself through reading avidly. Archalous had an eagerness to learn the languages of the lands where she had to settle during the continuum of her lifespan, including French, Arabic, Turkish, Armenian and some English. She passed her US citizenship test at age 90.
Archalous was married to the late Joseph Emil Sahakian.
Mrs. Sahakian attended St. Ann's Armenian Catholic Cathedral in New York City. In her younger years, she was involved in church activities of the Armenian Catholic ladies group, a talented cook of ethnic dishes and was very gifted at crocheting with an amazing ability to generate her own designs. A family statement read, "She will be sorely missed for a very long time by her loved ones for whom the only solace is the assurance that she is resting in eternal peace."
She is survived by three sons, Ohannes Sahakian, Jacques Sahakian and Elie Sahakian; two daughters, Jeannette Sahakian and Diane D. Szentesi of South Africa; one brother, Nishan Bakhtiarian, of Lebanon; three sisters, Perouz Odabashian of Australia, Aghavni Balian of Colorado, and Berjouhie Kharpoultian of California; and by five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, at St. Albert's Chapel, Carmelite Drive, Middletown. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Archalous' name may be sent to the Sacret Heart Armenian Catholic Church, 155 Long Hill Road, Little Falls, NJ 07424-2374.

Mary Bonanto Geitner

Mary Virginia Geitner, a lifelong resident of Otisville, died on Thursday, November 16, 2000, at home. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Francesco and Jessomina Bonanto, she was born on November 26, 1911, in Otisville. She was the widow of Emil F. Geitner, who passed away in 1989. Mrs. Geitner was a retired bacteriologist who worked for the New York City Department of Health for 45 years.
She was a member of Holy Name Church in Otisville and the Mt. Hope Historical Society.
Survivors include one son, Paul F. Geitner and his wife, Lizbeth, of Enchitas, CA; two sisters, Louise Carhart of Goshen and Jeanette O'Donnell of Otisville; and by three grandchildren, Nicole, Adam and Emily Geitner, and many other relatives.
Friends are invited to call from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, November 20, at Holy Name Church, Otisville. Fr. Peter TranVanPhat will officiate. Interment will be in Hold Name Cemetery, Otisville.

Dorothy Louise Drake
Middletown, NY
Dorothy Louise Drake, a lifetime resident of Middletown, entered into rest on November 13 at Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen. She was 84.
The daughter of Samuel Sheeley and Ida May Wells Harding, she was born November 4, 1916, in Middletown. She was the widow of Russell Drake.
She was a licensed practical nurse for the Middletown Sanitarium. She was a more than 50 year member of the Middletown Salvation Army.
She is survived by her daughter Doris Brink of Howells, and her son, Robert Drake of Howells, three grandchilren, Thomas Brink, Cindy Sunycalb and Lisa Phillips, and nine great grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Gail and Danielle Brink, Sara and Mark Thornton, Amanda Sunycalb, Brandon and Ryan Phillips; two sisters, Maud Barnes of Scotchtown and Helen Morris of the state of Florida, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Cora Jones, four brothers, and four sisters.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m., Thursday at Morse Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery, Middletown.

Charlotte Louise Danisi, a lifetime resident of Middletown, entered into rest on November 12 at Arden Hill Life Care Center, Goshen. She was 86.
The daughter of George and Sadie Clark Soudant, she was born March 15, 1914, in Greenville. She was the widow of Joseph Danisi.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette McGee and her husband, Kevin, of Middletown, Patricia Doty and her husband, James, of Milford; three grandchildren, Kevin McGee, Jennifer Zicot and Anne Hancock, and one great grandchild, Emma McGee.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 17 at St. Joseph Cemetery at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Arden Hill Life Care Center, 6 Harriman Dr., Goshen, NY 10924.

William Leonard of Middletown and Boynton Beach, FL, died November 11, 2000 at Mariner Health Care Center, Boynton Beach, FL. He was 91.
He was born December 26, 1908 in Plattsburgh, NY to Amedee and Ida Bucher Leonard. He was the widower of Mary Beriene Leonard.
He retired after 47 years as an electrician for New Haven Railroad. He was a 25-year member of Mechanicstown Fire Company, serving as captain of the fire police and he was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.
He is survived by daughter Clair Semer of Boynton Beach, one son, Donald Leonard of East Meadow, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren at home.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, November 14 at Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown. Florabell Grancelli, 85, of Tivoli, died Friday, Nov 10, 2000, at the Baptist Home of Rhinebeck. Born March 27, 1915 in Tivoli, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna [Rifenburgh] Sturgess. She was a homemaker and longtime member of the Board of the Red Church Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughter, Joanna Campbell of Pensacola, FL, four grandchildren and one great grandchild She was predeceased by her husband Luigi Grancelli Sr., a son Luigi Grancelli Jr. and brother Peter Sturgess.

Sally M. Hummel of Bloomingburg, a homemaker and lifetime resident of the area, died Tuesday, November 7, 2000, at Westchester County Medical Center. She was 62.
The daughter of the late Ernest and Florence Green Stephens, she was born on February 18, 1938 in Middletown.
She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore "Teddy" Hummel, whom she married July 8, 1945; daughter Doreen June; son Teddy Hummel; grandchildren Wayne and Cassandra June and Jessica HuHummel; sisters LaVera Jones and Mary Lou Smykla of Middletown, Elizabeth Vandermeulen of Walden, Alice Noviski of New Hampton and Sandra Lee Peavey of Bloomingburg; brothers Joseph Stephens of South Carolina, John Stevens of Bloomingburg and Barry Stephens of Wurtsboro.
She was predeceased by brothers Frank Stephens, Ernest Stephens, Jr., Richard Stephens and Charles Stephens, and sister Louise Egan.

Gorden R. Carpenter of Middletown, a former general manager for Master Rule or Middletown, died on Thursday, November 23, 2000, at Horton Medical Center. He was 89.
The son of the late Edward and Fannie Atkins Carpenter, he was born on October 11, 1911, in West Haven, CT. He was a lieutenant commander with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Carpenter was a former member of the Orange County executive staff.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Barbara Hannah and her husband, Frank, of Shelby, NC, his wife Lillian Bilinski Carpenter of Middletown; and by four grandchildren, Allison Hannah, Wendy Hannah Wright, Leslie Hannah Bankner, and Thomas Hannah. He was predeceased by his first wife, Muriel Cole Carpenter, in 1968.

Ralph Lewis Ogden of Circleville, a retired telephone frameman for General Telephone Co. of Middletown, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 76.
The son of the late Lewis and Anna Crane Ogden, he was born on February 20, 1924, in Middletown. He was a 1943 graduate of Middletown High School prior to serving with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII.
Mr. Ogden was a member of the Circleville Presbyterian Church.
A family statement read: "Ralph was very patriotic. He loved his country and loved the history of World War Two."
He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Lutjens Ogden, at home; by one son, Randee Lowell Ogden and his wife, Christine, of Pine Bush; and by granddaughter Rachael Hope Ogden.
Friends are invited to call from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2000, at the Circleville Presbyterian Church, Route 302 and Goshen Turnpike.
