Elizabeth Quinn
A memorial Mass for Elizabeth "Ella" Quinn, 94, of Westland will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in St. Theodore Catholic Church in Westland.
Mrs. Quinn was born June 28, 1908, in Canada, and died Oct. 29, 2002, at her home in Westland. She was a homemaker. She lived in this community 16 years and previously resided in Walled Lake.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She also loved quilting and made all her grandchildren a quilt. Mrs. Quinn was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.
Surviving are her children, Barbara (Edward) Thomas, Vincent (Patricai) Quinn, Raymond (Beatrice) Quinn and Dale (Norma) Quinn; 34 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Quinn was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and children, Loyola, John, Douglas and Thomas Quinn.
Memorial tributes may be made to Angela Hospice.

Helen Namy
A Celebration of Life service for Helen Namy, 93, of South Starksboro, Vt., will be Friday, Nov. 8, in Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol, Vt. Burial will be at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
Mrs. Namy was born Nov. 14, 1908, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, and died Nov. 3, 2002, at her home in South Starksboro, Vt.. She lived in Pennsylvania and Illinois until the 1970s when she returned to Michigan, where she owned and operated Bashor's Boutique, a candy and gift store. In 1999, she moved to Vermont to be closer to some of her family.
Surviving are her brother, Charles Bashor; sister, Margaret Berg; granddaughters, Cherrie Namy and John Dickason, and Linda (Bill) Namy-Miller; many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, Alaina and Leyla Namy Dickason, Graham Namy Broadbelt, Sarah Namy Lawton, Sam Namy Lawton, Jake, Ben, Kristin, Erin and Tim Miller. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Sally. There are family members who reside in Livonia, Redford and Westland.

Duane M. Snyder
Services for Duane Snyder, 62, of Westland were Nov. 3 in Uht Funeral Home with burial at Northview Cemetery, Dearborn. Officiating was the Rev. Roy Forsyth.
Mr. Snyder was born Jan. 1,1 1940, and died Nov. 2, 2002, in Garden City. He was self-employed.
Surviving is his mother, Alice Snyder.
Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his father, Melvin.

Helen C. Hansen
Services for Helen Hansen, 81, of Aurora, Ill., were Nov. 4 in Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, Naperville, Ill.
Mrs. Hansen was born July 6, 1921, in Mitchell, Neb. and died Oct. 31, 2002, in Naperville, Ill.
Surviving are her son, Richard (Michele) Hansen of Westland; daughter, Linda (Mark) Sorek of Aurora, Ill.; brother, Joe Lovelace of Florida; and six grandchildren, Kathryn Hansen, Matthew Hansen, twins William and Jared Sorek, Kathryn Sorek and Michael Sorek.
Mrs. Hansen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and brothers, Ross and Chuck Lovelace.

Claudia Ora Cavender

Mrs. Cavender was born Sept. 27, 1921, and died Oct. 31, 2002, in Westland. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Charles; sons, Eddy (Mary) Crosby and Michael (Cynthia) Crosby; sister, Mary Adams; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Lou Emery
Services for Mary Lou Emery, 75, of Westland were Nov. 6 in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Livonia. Officiating was Beverly A. Ohlrich of Pastorial Ministries.
Mrs. Emery was born March 27, 1927, in Louisville, Ky., and died Nov. 3, 2002, in Garden City. She was a pharmacy technician. She lived in Westland for many years.
Surviving are her son, Michael Wilkes; daughters, Judith Snell of Garden City, Nanette Harrison and Marie (Mickey) Newton; sister, Juanita Hodge of Peoria, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Emery was preceded in death by her husband, Adron Wilkes.

Simonne M. Grzesik
A funeral Mass for Simonne "Otto" Grzesik of Canton was held at St. Mary Catholic Church with burial at Michigan Memorial Park. Officiating was the Rev. Jack Baker.
Mrs. Grzesik died Jan. 10, 2003. She was a former teacher at Stevenson Junior High School and John Glenn High School, both in Westland. She was director of Adult Community Theatre for the City of Wayne and a member of Canton Senior Citizens.
Surviving are her husband, Richard; parents, Simonne and Paul Lada; siblings, Stephen (Karen) Lada, Patricia Lada and Mary (Dan) Colton.
Mrs. Grzesik was preceded in death by her siblings, Gabrielle (Tom) Harrison and Joseph Lada.

Eva Kowencz
Services for Eva Kowencz, 96, of Westland were Jan. 11 in St. Mary Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. Officiating was the Rev. Jack H. Baker.
Mrs. Kowencz was born Oct. 26, 1906, in Kikinda, Hungary, and died Jan. 7, 2003, in Westland. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Joan (Lawrence) Swalec of Westland and Barbara (George) Reinholdt of West Plains, Mo; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Homer Lee Wynn
Services for Homer Wynn, 87, of Westland were Jan. 14 in Neely-Turowski Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Cemetery.
Mr. Wynn was born July 6, 1915, in Buchanan, Tenn., and died Jan. 11, 2003, in Livonia.
Surviving are his son, Bob (Louise) Wynn; daughter, Betty (the late James) Birchfield of Livonia; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Martha C. Palmer
Services for Martha Palmer, 71, of Westland will be 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in First Missionary Church, Westland.
Mrs. Palmer was born July 23, 1931, and died Jan. 8, 2003, in Wayne. She was a social worker.
Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Fisher Jr., Lenard (Susan) Fisher and Ronnie Palmer; daughters, Paula (Lawrence) Joseph and Christine Konlowsky; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren

George L. Noonan
Services for George Noonan, 68, of Westland were Jan. 13 in L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, Canton with burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland.
Mr. Noonan was born Nov. 14, 1934, and died Jan. 10, 2003, in Wayne. He was an inspector at General Motors.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; children, Hali (Ron) Gorski, Craig (Julie) and Kara (Dave) Maliszewski; brother, James (June); and seven grandchildren, Jason, Cora, Molly, Cass, Derek, Emma and Sarah.

Susan Kathleen Watson
A funeral Mass for Susan Watson, 74, of Westland was Jan. 15 in St. Bernardine of Siena Church with burial at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Canada, and died Jan. 11, 2003, in Livonia. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, James Sr.; children, Brenda (Owen) Thomason, Dianne (Larry) Straub, Joseph (Cathleen), James Jr. (Edie), Doreen (Scott) Begin and John (Anna); four brothers; two sisters; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Beatrice Van Gilder
A funeral Mass for Beatrice Van Gilder, 67, of Westland will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in St. Bernardine of Siena Church, 31464 Ann Arbor Trail, Westland. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 16, and noon to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, 7707 Middlebelt, Westland.
Mrs. Van Gilder was born May 11, 1935, in Gaylord, and died Jan. 14, 2003, at her home in Westland. She was a pharmacist technician.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; children, Sharon Van Gilder, Gary and Larry; three brothers; six sisters; and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Cheri Van Gilder.

Irene O. Pellegrinon
Services Irene Pellegrinon of Westland were Oct. 28 in St. Valentine Catholic Church, Redford Township. Officiating was the Rev. Thomas A. Belczak.
Mrs. Pellegrinon died Oct. 24, 2002. She lived in Westland 20 years.
Surviving are her children, Gary Chartrand and Claudette (John) Bloom; siblings, Louis Cote, Rene Cote, Robert Cote, Theodore Cote and Marlene Cote-Corbeil; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her companion, Dallas Gribble.
Mrs. Pellegrinon was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred (Fritz), and sisters, Beatrice Joanisse and Theresea Maranger.

Jennifer J. Baehr
Services for Jennifer Baehr, 51, of Westland were held recently. Arrangements were made by L.J. Griffin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Baehr was born Nov. 24, 1950, in Detroit, and died Oct. 26, 2002, in Ann Arbor. She was a bartender for hotel services.
Surviving are her sons, Todd and Joshua; three sisters; and grandson, Jayden.

Vada Francis Judd
Services for Vada Judd, 89, of Westland were Oct. 31 in Uht Funeral Home, Westland, with burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland. Officiating was John Paton.
Mrs. Judd was born Nov. 23, 1912, and died Oct. 27, 2002, in Westland. She was a dietitian.
Surviving are her son, Ronald Judd; brothers, Frank Wyatt and William Wyatt; sister, Maggie Lee Wyatt; grandchildren, Edward Reeder and Carrie (Eirc) Draper; and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Alex Draper.

Sandra Marie Thines

Ms Thines was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Detroit, and died Oct. 26, 2002, in Dearborn. She was a medical assistant.
Surviving are her parents, Melvin and Doris Conger; brothers, Thomas Conger and Keith (Mary) Conger; sister, Julie Somers; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Angeline V. Fusto
Services for Angeline Fusto , 86, of Westland were Oct. 30 in St. Damian Catholic Church with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Mrs. Fusto was born July 20, 1916, and died Oct. 27, 2002, in Farmington Hills. She was a sewing machine operator for an automotive company.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Joseph) Bommarito; brother, Victor Vettese; sister, Frances Carpinelli; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fusto was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic, and son, Dominic Jr.

Rans Merlin Vess
Services for Rans Vess, 86, of Westland were Oct. 23 in L.J.Griffin Funeral Home in Canton with burial at Knollwood Cemetery in Canton. Officiating was the Rev. Rocky Barra of Tri-City Christian Center.
Mr. Vess was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Old Fort, N.C., and died Oct. 20, 2002, at Oakwood Hospital. He was a department supervisor for an automotive company.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda Wiley and Brenda (Richard) Teague; brother, Jimmy (Dicie) Vess; grandchildren, Rebecca (Greg) Stewart, Christopher (Mary) Wiley, Aaron (Julie) Teague and Alicia Belcarz.
Mr. Vess was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; son, Boyd Merlin Vess; and grandson, Justin Teague.

Nancy F. Della
Services for Nancy Della, 68, of Canton were Oct. 30 in St. John Episcopal Church with the Rev. Arthur R. Mack officiating.
Mrs. Della was born April 9, 1934, in Bontoc Province, Philippines, and died Oct. 27, 2002, in Royal Oak. She has lived in Canton 30 years and previously resided in Massachusetts three years. She was a school teacher in the Philippines. She became a registered nurse and was a member of the Real Estate Association.
Mrs. Della was a member of St. John Episcopal Church where she served in the Altar Guild, was a member of Bibak, Women's Quilting Club and the church choir.
She earned her bachelor of science degree in education and nursing and her Real Estate certification.
Surviving are her husband, Alfredo; son, Wilfred (Marianne) Della of Westland; daughters, Jennifer (Rey) Silerio of Warren and Sheila (John) Dankert of Levering, Mich.; brother, Ernesto Fagyan of the Philippines; sister, Esther Tomek of Australia; and five grandchildren, Maydsen, Andrew, Anthony, Brandon and Austin.
Arrangements were made by Vermeulen Funeral Home.

Blanche Teresa Thomas
Services for Blanche Thomas, 73, of Westland were Oct. 29 in Uht Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 31. 1929, and died Oct. 27, 2002, in Westland. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her sons, Robert (Jill) Thomas, Danny (Pat) Thomas and Tony (Ann) Thomas; sister, Eve Smith; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, John, and brother, Angelo Valato.

Robert C. Mallon

Mr. Mallon was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Francis.

Mrs. Richardson was born June 7, 1920, in Kinde, Mich., and died Nov. 25, 2002, at Plymouth Inn Nursing Home. She worked as a school teacher.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by husband, Elmer Branda; husband, Zeke Scott; and husband, Clifford Richardson.
Survivors include daughter, Janice Allen; sister, Jessie E. (Clarence) Helm; sister, Lois B. (Thomas) Curl; many step-children; and many grandchildren.
