Avis Hyden
CLARKSVILLE — Avis Johnson Hyden, 78, of Clarksville died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 in Countryside Manor Nursing Home. She a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and a retired employee of Hanford and Priebe Processing Plants.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at East Mount Zion Trinty Baptist Church with burial at East Mount Zion Cemetery in East Mount Zion under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by one son, Tommy Johnson of Clarksville; one stepson, Archie Johnson of Clarksville; one sister, Audrey Carroll of Laverne, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Reg, Scott, Mark and Lance Johnson, Dave Gentry and John Buffington.
The family will visit with friends today from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Kathlyeen Burnett
HEAVENER — Kathlyeen (Katz) Burnett, 84, of Heavener died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in Fort Smith. She was a longtime resident of Heavener, a retired teacher, having taught and coached in Hartshorne, Drumwright and Spiro. She was a supporter and contributor for scholarships at Northeastern State University, Oklahoma Baptist University and Carl Albert State College. She was recognized as an outstanding coach during her teaching career and coached state championship teams. She was a member of the National Education Association, the Oklahoma Education Association and the LeFlore County Retired Teachers Association.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.
She is survived by three cousins, Teddy R. Livesay and Nancy J. Hamilton both of Heavener and Tim Livesay of Tahlequah; other cousins include Jack Smith of Shawnee and Wanda Burns of Victoria, Texas.

Alice Taylor
CLARKSVILLE — Alice Evans Taylor, 95, of Clarksville died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 in Johnson Regional Medical Center. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and a 50-year member of Ludwig Home Demonstration Club.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999 in Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by two sons, Troy and Forrest both of Clarksville; two grandchildren, Mike and Mark Taylor of Clarksville; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phil Taylor, Aubrey Yount, Ewell Sexton, Norman Sexton, Alva Taylor and Dan Leeds.

Vida Drewrey
MANSFIELD — Vida Pearl Drewrey, 63, of Mansfield died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at her home. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Mansfield with burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery near Booneville.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Drewrey; two sons, Leslie Taylor of Mansfield and Chester Jones of Sugar Loaf; her mother, Elsie Farris of Mansfield; one sister, Patricia Williams of Huntington; five brothers, William and Irvin Farris, both of Booneville, Billy Wayne Farris of Magazine, Truman Farris of Mansfield and Daniel Farris of Siloam Springs; three grandchildren, Andy and Angela Taylor and Jason Jones; and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Farris, Steven Williams, Chester and Jason Jones and Leslie and Andy Taylor.
The body may be viewed from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ethyl Wilson
Ethyl L. Wilson, 87, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in a local hospital. She retired as a bookkeeper for Continental Oil Distribution Company and was a charter member of the Westside Baptist Church of Fort Smith. She is the widow of the Rev. Harry D. Wilson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Westside Baptist Church of Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery of Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Railey of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, John, Dennis and David P. Railey, Becky Davis and Martha Choate, all of Fort Smith, and Don Railey of Rudy; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David, John, Dennis, Don and Jeremy Railey and Sean Monroe.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 4515, Fort Smith, AR 72914.

Duman Wilson
SPRINGDALE — Duman Wilson, 92, of Springdale died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in a nursing home. He was a member of the Dean Springs Church of Christ of Alma and life member of Fine Springs Masonic Lodge No. 439. He was a veteran of World War II in the 52nd Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees).
Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at the U.S. National Cemetery of Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by one sister, Anna Lee Wilson Singleton of El Cajan, Calif.; one grandchild, Cyrise Burger of Pinole, Calif.; one great-grandson, Ryan Burger of Pinole; and several nieces and nephews.

Olen Goodner
ODEN — Olen Othel Goodner, 80, of Oden died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at a Montgomery County nursing home in Mount Ida. He was a deacon in the Little Hope Baptist Church and an Army Engineer veteran of World War II in the South Pacific.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Little Hope Baptist Church with burial at Pine Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Imarie; one daughter, Sandra Burrow of Oden; one son, Travis of Nacogdoches, Texas; one brother, G.S. Goodner of Las Vegas; two sisters, Mildred Simpson of Henderson, Texas, and June Powell of Benton, La.; and five grandchildren, Andrea Jones and Julie Goodner, both of Nacogdoches, Mikayla Burrow of Oden and Amanda and Jacob Goodner, both of Mena.
Pallbearers will be Freddy Powell, Vic, Mark and Jim Goodner, Darwin and Greg Simpson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the nursing home and members of the Little Hope Baptist Church.

Cleo Morrison
STIGLER — Cleo Morrison, 81, of Stigler died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Garland Cemetery in Stigler under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her husband, L.A. Morrison; one stepdaughter, Sue Boles of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; one son, Jerald Livesay of Stigler; one brother, Haskell Livesay of Bakersville, Calif.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Chasity Church
Chasity Nichelle Church, infant daughter of Tim and Elizabeth Jones Church of Cameron, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, in Little Rock. She was born in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pocola Heights Free Will Baptist Church of Pocola with burial at Greenhill Cemetery of Cameron under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
In addition to her parents she is survived by one brother, Richard Dale Jones; her maternal grandparents, Dale and Sharon Jones of Spiro; and her paternal grandparents, Robert and Anna Church of Pocola.
Pallbearers will be Rick Jones, Mary Gray, Joe Cox and Robert Mickle.

Dow Oliver
PLEASANT VIEW COMMUNITY — Dow Oliver, 86, of the Pleasant View Community died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at his home. He attended Mulberry Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mulberry Assembly of God with burial at New Cemetery of Mulberry under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Clella Lessley Oliver; four daughters, Shirley Cagle and Cindy Jolly, both of Pleasant View Community, Janice Parrish of Ozark and LaRee Davis of Dardanelle; one sister, Ethel Cartwright of Mulberry; nine grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Richard Cagle, John Parrish Jr., Casey Fisher, Burke Jolly and Rusty and Tony Davis.
The body may be viewed from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Clarence Mitchell
Clarence Drew Mitchell, 47, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, in Fort Smith. He was a former employee of Trophies Unlimited and an Air Force veteran. He attended Barling First Assembly of God and was a member of ABC Bowling League and the ASA Umpire Association.
Funeral will be noon Monday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; two daughters, Rena Nicole Mitchell and Lindsay Pettigrew, both of Fort Smith; one son, Cody Andrew Mitchell of Manchester, N.H.; his mother, Iva Clarious Mitchell of Fort Smith; two sisters, Betty Embry of Fort Smith and Sue Mizell of McCrory; two brothers, Lonnie of Van Buren and Thomas of Sallisaw; and one grandchild, Dagen Marshall Aaron Henderson.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Andrew, Charlie Loyd, Dave Conley, Tim Pittlick, Jodie and Garland Bray and Mark Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers will be ASA Umpires.
The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bill Attebery
LAWN, Texas — Bill C. Attebery, 80, of Lawn died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in Heavener. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Seminole, Texas.
Cremation is under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Iby Joan; one daughter, Anita Person of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two sisters, Louise Ollar of Heavener and Ellen Bunce of Porterville, Calif.; three half-sisters, Bertha Armour, Betty Viviano and Kay Vanameyzen, all of Battle Creek, Mich.; one half-brother, Sanford Logan of Battle Creek; and two granddaughters, Dana and Carol.

Ouita Hughes
ROLAND — Ouita Pearl Jean Hughes, 63, of Roland died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was a medical records secretary for Sparks and a member and church secretary of Phoenix Village Baptist Church.
Cremation is under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sisters, Jo Leta Karter of Muldrow and Frankie Peterson of Riverton, Wyo.; and one brother, Jerry Hughes of Las Vegas, Nev.

David Byars
ALMA — David Eugene Byars, 86, of Alma died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at his home. He and his wife owned and operated David E. Byars Clothing Store in Alma for 25 years. He was a member, deacon and treasurer of First Baptist Church. He was a former member of Alma City Council, Alma Lions Club and retired volunteer fireman. He was a 50-year member and past Master of Alma Lodge No. 735 and member and past Patron of New Alma OES. He was an Army veteran of World War II in the Battle of the Bulge.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Ocker Funeral Home Chapel of Alma with burial at Alma City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Eddie Rue Byars; two sisters, Cora Crigler of Fort Smith and Caroline Cate of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and one brother, G.W. “Chub” Byars of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Blake, Drew, Randall and Joe Dan Byars, Joe D. Byars Jr., David Newman and Dr. Edwin Dooley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church of Alma.
The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Edward Jewell
VANDERVOORT — Edward Jewell, 63, of Vandervoort died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at his home. He was an Army veteran and a member of Hatfield Masonic Lodge No. 218 and Wickes Masonic Lodge No. 548.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Vandervoort Methodist Church with burial at Witherspoon Cemetery in Vandervoort under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry Ann Jewell; three daughters, Barbara Walker of Cove, Beverly McBee of Vandervoort and Nancy Harrison of Hatfield; one son, Keith of Hatton; two brothers, Leon and Dale, both of Vandervoort; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donnie, Perry, Bill and Dwight Barrett, Hank Sandefur and Don Youngblood.
