Mary Ingram
Mary Helen Ingram, 54, of Salem died Dec. 9, 2002, at Salem.
Born Oct. 28, 1948, at Columbia, Mo., she was the daughter of Paul Berry and Mary Elizabeth Crane Nicholas. She married George Kellie Ingram Aug. 31, 1973, at Columbia. She spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, and a secretary for Spring River Veterinary Clinic. She was a member of Salem First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons – David Ingram and his wife, Tausha, of Ash Flat, and Kellie Ingram and his wife, Sabrina, of Salem; a daughter, Wanda Frazier and her husband, Jeff, of West Plains, Mo.; a brother, Gary Sheets and his wife, Judy, of Columbia; two sisters – Linda Griggs and Betty Baldridge, both of Columbia; eight grandchildren – W.T. Ingram, Jesse Frazier, Clay Ingram, Cody Ingram, Bryce Ingram, Brandon Ingram, Hunter Frazier and Gracie Ingram.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral was Dec. 12 at Salem First Baptist Church with John Hodges officiating.
A graveside service and interment were Dec. 13 with Bob Wilkie officiating in the Bon Femme Cemetery in Columbia.
Pallbearers were Eric Reynolds, Ronnie Brown, Chris Youngblood, W.T. Ingram, Wesley Shaw and Gary J. Sheets.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Greenstreet III and Loy Vern Mason.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Myrtl L. Cason
Myrtl L. Cason, 91, of Cherokee Village died Dec. 10, 2002, at her home.
Born Oct. 10, 1911, in Jacksonville, Texas, she was the daughter of Lucy Hale Pool and Willie Pool. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Martin.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery in Chandler Texas.

Harold MacDonald
Harold F. MacDonald, 61, of Hardy died April 20, 2002, at Fulton County Hospital.
Born May 24, 1940, in Congress Park, Ill., he was a truck driver and former owner of Ol’ MacDonald Service Station in Hardy.
Survivors include a son, Harold MacDonald Jr. of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers – Victor MacDonald of Highland and Larry Collier of West Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters – Betty Clark of Terre Haute, Ind., and Lena Gottschalk of Cherokee Village; a special friend, Earline Rutland; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Emma Walls MacDonald.
A private service will be held at a later date. The body will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heath Funeral Home Oak Hill Chapel.

Robert Maraman
Robert F. “Bob” Maraman, 80, died Aug. 11, 2002, in Melbourne. A native of Paragould, he attended college in Detroit, Mich., the University of Alabama, Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., and at the University of Tennessee. He was a World War II veteran having served as a communications technician in Signal Corps, 12th Armored Division.
Before his retirement to Cherokee Village in 1986, he was the chief chemist at Vicksburg Chemical Company in Vicksburg, Miss., for 23 years. He was a member of Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy and a former member of Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, Miss., and was very involved in music in both churches.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris Maraman; one son, Alan Maraman and daughter-in-law, Linda Maraman of Zachary, La.; one daughter, Lisa Dabney and son-in-law, Bryan Dabney of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren, Allison Maraman, Jeffrey Maraman and Thomas Dabney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mort and Bessie Maraman; one brother, Buddy Maraman; and one sister, Shirley Maraman Glossinger.
A private service was held in Cherokee village. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy or Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village. Arrangements were by Roller Funeral Home of Mountain Home.

Una L. Mask
Una L. Mask, 75, of Cherokee Village died Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
She was a homemaker and a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in West Memphis.
Survivors include her husband, James Paul Mask of Cherokee Village; three sons – James Paul Mask Jr. of Bloomington, Ind., Ronald Mask of Cherokee Village, and Michael Mask of Bartlett, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Feb. 24 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.
Memorials contributions may be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary in West Memphis.

Fannie Matheny
Fannie Matheny, 88 of Cave City died March 12, 2002, at her home.
Born Feb. 22, 1914, at Sidney, she was the daughter of Joe and Nellie White Edger. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church at Cave City.
Survivors include two daughters – Treva Patterson of Omaha, Neb., and Brenda King of Cave City; a sister, Lanelle Matheny of Cave City; two brothers – Willie Joe Edger of Hattisburg, Miss., and David Edger of Salina, Calif.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John L. Matheny; and two sons – Dottie Joe Matheny and Tommy Joe Matheny.
The funeral was March 14 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Gary Wallace officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Carmel Cemetery at Sidney.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Felix Smith, Chris Patterson, Rich Godden, Ricky Bowden, Wayne Perkey and Allen Robins.

Clessie Mattis
Clessie Alice Mattis, 81, died Feb. 21, 2002, in West Plains, Mo.
Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Hardy, she was daughter of John R. Gillihan and Nancy A. Porter Gillihan. She was a homemaker and a member of Thayer Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children – Mary Ann Wolf of Tulsa, Okla, Riley Todd of Ash Flat, and Virginia Gunsolus of Mountain Home; a brother, Eddie Gillihan of Sapulpa, Okla.; a sister, Effie Reed of Ash Flat; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers – Leroy, Melvin and John Clay Gilliham; and two sisters – Melba Gillihan and Bessie Hardmon.
The funeral was Feb. 23 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with the Rev. Lance Rogers officiating. Burial followed in Thayer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Gunsolus, Sam Wolf, Tom Taylor, Dan Wolf, Stephen Hart and George Taylor.
Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, Mo.

Edward Maynard
Edward Maynard, 70, of Cherokee Village died Sept. 29, 2002, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born Jan. 8, 1932, in Heisey, Ky., he was the son of William Maynard and Rebecca McCoy Maynard. He was employed in heavy truck management, was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors are his wife, Anita Maynard of Cherokee Village; two sons – Keith Maynard of Waynesboro, Ind., and Kent Maynard of Ferndale, Mich.; two daughters – Doreen Barqatz of Addison, Ill., and Maureen Diaz of Aucorail, Ill.; a sister, Nancy Clerk of Jamestown, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral was Oct. 5 at Peace Lutheran Church of Cherokee Village with Pastor Brian Pummill officiating. Burial followed in Peace Lutheran Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements were under the direction of Health Funeral Home of Hardy.
Memorials can be made to Peace Lutheran Pre-School.

Terry McLelland
Terry Alan “Pee Wee” McLelland, 47, of Cherokee Village died March 14, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Feb. 7, 1955, in Thayer, Mo., he was the son of Jack Carl and Clara Lee Reef McLelland.He was a painter and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two brothers – Gary Patrick McLelland of Memphis, and Monte Carl McLelland of Cherokee Village; two sisters – Janet Hyde and Jerri Lynn Pate, both of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Ermal Mickle
Ermal Anita Conrad Mickle, 62, died March 4, 2002.
Born Feb. 23, 1940, in Gorby, she was the daughter of Dewey and Annie Sinden Conrad. During her working years she was employed by Pioneer Nursing Home as a CNA. She was baptized at Melbourne Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Bramlett of Melbourne; two sons and daughters-in-law – Danny and Sandy Mickle of Batesville, and Kevin and Linda Mickle of Mount Pleasant; her companion Calvin Pattin of the home; three sisters – Wanda Bozarth of Berryville, Joyce Newbrey of Mountain View, and Mildred Smith of Sherwood; two brothers – Toley Hart of Houston, and J.D. Conrad of Melbourne; nine grandchildren, – Clint Mickle, Holly Mickle, Christin Mickle, Carson Mickle, Shawna Mickle, Kevin Bramlett, Kenneth Bramlett, Samantha Antilla and Jason Mickle; and three great-grandchildren – Jordan Mickle, Tyler Mickle and Walker Antilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Conrad.
The funeral was March 7 at Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with Lance Hames officiating. Burial followed in Combs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyle Hart, Darrell Conrad, Phillip Conrad, Richard Conrad, Bradley Smith and Ben Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Clint Mickle, Shawn Walker, Jason Mickle, Steve Newbrey, Burl Thompson and Arthur “Peanut” Pattin.
Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home.

William Milligan
William Lee Milligan, 85, of Poughkeepsie died Jan. 29, 2002, at Cave City Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 2, 1916, at Calamine, he was the son of Henry and Rosie Anderson Milligan. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lola Milligan; a daughter, Mildred Treadway of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Glenn Dale Milligan of Cave City; two sisters – Pearl Boyd of Perry, and Retha Russo of Evening Shade; two grandchildren – Patrick Treadway of Poughkeepsie, and Kimberly Vance of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers – Walter Milligan and Lois Joe Milligan; and a sister, Eddie Faye Floyd.
The funeral was Feb. 1 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with William Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Townsend Cemetery at Smithville.
Pallbearers were T.J. Jenkins, Dean Boyd, Jim Miller, Ben Jenkins, Jerry Humbrecht and Robin Medlock.
Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Treadway, Tommy Wilson and Chris Vance.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Nadine Clark
Nadine Clark, 81, of Trumann, died March 26, 2002.
Born Feb. 10, 1921, in Poinsett County, she was of the Baptist faith. She had lived in the Trumann area most of her life. She retired from Singer in 1967.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Clark of Hardy; a daughter, Shirley Slinkard of Trumann; a brother, Luther Stephens of Mount Morris, Mich.; three sisters – Willis Ruth Clark of Westland, Mich., Lela Thomas of Jonesboro, and Deloris Garner of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Clark; a grandson, Shannon Slinkard; and five sisters.
The funeral was March 29 at Roller-Farmer Union Chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Tommy Stacy officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Phil Wilcockson, Gary Smith, Ronnie Clement, Michael Smith, Larry Maxwell and Damon Slinkard.
Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Ollie Lorene Lowe
Ollie Lorene Lowe, 76, of Hardy died Sept. 28, 2002, at her home.
Born Sept. 12, 1926, in Kensett, she was a homemaker and a member of Spring Lake Baptist Church in Ozark Acres.
Survivors include five sons and their wives – Bruce and Cathy Lowe of Jonesboro, James and Barbara Lowe of Blytheville, Terry and Cindy Lowe of Hardy, Wayne C. and Barbara Lowe of Big Bear City, Calif., and William Lowe of Milwaukee, Ore.; a brother, Hubert Meeks of Denison, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac “Ike” Lowe; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Meeks; a sister and three brothers.
The funeral was Sept. 30 at Tri-County’s Cherokee Chapel with the Rev. Ed Stoddard officiating. Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery at Ozark Acres.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County’s Cherokee Chapel Funeral Services Inc. of Hardy.
Pallbearers were James Lowe, Bruce Lowe, James Lowe, Andrew Lowe, Tony Lowe and Aaron Lowe.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Crosby, Gregg Lowe, Drake Worden, and Michael Lowe.
Lasting memorials may be made to Baker Cemetery or to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Patsy Ruth Bradford
Patsy Ruth Kay Hoke Bradford, 63, of Evening Shade died Oct. 24, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Dec. 24, 1938, at Lunsford, she was the daughter of Clifford and Hazel Menson Hoke. She was retired from International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 93 in San Jose, Calif., a 15 year member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8042 in Evening Shade and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Bradford; a son, Darien Bradford of Evening Shade; two brothers – Larry Coleman of Evening Shade, and Kenny Hoke of Ash Flat; a grandson, Kyle Lee Bradford of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Billy Wayne Hoke; and two sisters – Paulette Smith and Durella Blankenship.
The funeral was Oct. 29 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Dane Blankenship and Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial followed in Mount Carmel Cemetery at Sidney.
Pallbearers were Red Lassiter, Gordon Harrison, Darrell Moody, Kevin Hoke, J.D. Yates and Patrick Hoke. Honorary pallbearer was Paschal Spurlock
Arrangements were by Qualls Funeral Home.

Ray J. Perry
Ray J. Perry, 73, of Cherokee Village died April 2, 2002, at his home.
Born Nov. 14, 1928, in St. Johns, Mich., he was the son of Ray A. Perry and Ocie F. Miller Perry. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He worked many years as a factory worker for Ford Motor Company. He was also a real estate broker for Century 21 in Michigan. He was a licensed broker and builder in the state of Michigan.
The Perrys moved to Cherokee Village eight years ago from Lansing. He was a member of the Hardy Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Delores A. Perry; four stepsons, Curtis Funnell and Chris Funnell, both of Marysville, Wash., Kevin Funnell of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Kim Funnell of Herrogate, Tenn.; and a brother and sister-in-law – Ted and Jean Perry of St. Johns, Mich.
No local services are planned. A memorial service and burial will be held in Eureka, Mich., at a later date.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County’s Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
Memorials can be made to the Eastern Ozarks Hospice in Cherokee Village.

Grace L. Poteete
Grace Lee Poteete, 90, of Ash Flat, formerly of Memphis, died Sept. 5, 2002, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat.
Born Sept. 5, 1912, in Hope, she was the daughter of the Mr. and Mrs. E.O. Beaver. She marred Jessie “Pete” Durmint Poteete in 1928 in Arizona. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village.
Survivors include three sons – Bill Poteete and Ronnie Poteete, both of Dallas, and Carol Poteete of Ash Flat; a daughter, Velda Morgan of Evening Shade; a brother, Loyal Beaver of California, 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, J.D. Poteete; two brothers; and four sisters.
The funeral was Sept. 7 at Highland Cemetery with Phil Huggins officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc. of Hardy.

Charles V. Pummill
Charles Virgil Pummill, 77, of Oxford departed this life Aug. 12, 2002, at his home.
Pummill was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Champaign, Ill. He was married to the former Marianna Bennett 29 years until her death. Following her death his companion for 18 years was Peg Danus until her death in 2000.
Pummill was a former police officer in Urbana, Ill. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters – Marilyn Place of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., and Valeria Pummill of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sisters – Cleone Place of Urbana, Ill., and Thelma Wright of Sidney, Ill.; four grandchildren – Chuck Place and his wife Natalie, Don Place and his wife Sheri, Dan Place and his wife Silvana, and Joe Place and his wife Jennifer; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and companion.
A graveside service was held Aug. 14 at the Oxford Cemetery with Ken Caldwell officiating. Arrangements were by Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Place, Chuck Place, Don Place, Dan Place and Joe Place.

Ray Harelson
Ray Harelson, 77, died May 14, 2002, at Batesville Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Roswell, N.M.
Survivors include a sister, Ruby Cox; a brother, Paul Harelson; a son, James Harelson; a step-son, David Holland; and three grandchildren.
A memorial services was May 26 at Faith Assembly of God Church in Evening Shade, with Jerry Brown officiating.

Rebecca Horn
Rebecca J. Horn, 91, of Hardy died April 19, 2002, at Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, Mo.
Born May 31, 1910, she was the daughter of Cora Bell Cozart Spicer and Charles Spicer. She was a homemaker and a member of United Methodist Church of Hardy.
Survivors include two daughters – Margaret Harness of Conway, Ark., and Refae Little of Cherokee Village; and four grandchildren – Phillip Rodgers, Jon Britt Brinkley, Jeniffer Harness and Sarah Harness.
The funeral was April 22 at Heath Oak Hill Chapel with Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial followed in Bronaugh Cemetery in Hardy.
Arrangements were under the direction of Heath Oak Hill Chapel.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church in Hardy.

Ruth Hooten Lewis
Ruth Hooten Lewis, 92, of Strawberry died July 7, 2002, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born at Lynn, she was the daughter of Josephus and Amanda Robinson Hooten. She was a homemaker and the widow of Dee Fowler. A member of the Church of Christ, she had lived at Strawberry most of her life.
Survivors include a son, Cephus Junior Fowler of Horseshoe Bend; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was July 9 at Strawberry Church of Christ with Don R. House and A. Stracner officiating. Burial followed in Lancaster Cemetery near Strawberry.
Arrangements were under the direction of House Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn.
Pallbearers were Bill Bristow, Jackie Bristow, David Lewis, Fred Lewis, Dannie Bristow and Sloan Durham.
Memorials may be made to Children’s Homes, 5515 Old Walcott Rd., Paragould AR 72450-9983.
