Callie Ben "C.B." Battle died Friday, May 12, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 82.
The funeral will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.N. Luster officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funereal Home.

Elizabeth Brock
Elizabeth K. "Betty" Brock died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at her home. She was 72.
She was preceded in death by a son, James W. Brock Jr.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Brock Sr.; two daughters, Michelle Brock and Yvonne Brock, Chattanooga; son, Doug Brock, Alabama; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with John P. Lee Jr. officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405, or the American Cancer Society, 850 Fort Wood St., Chattanooga, TN.
Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Roy Coln
Roy R. Coln of Soddy-Daisy died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in a local health care facility. He was 72.
He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gracie Coln, Soddy-Daisy; daughter, Patti Thomas, St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, Danzel "Fred" Coln, Soddy-Daisy; two sisters, Jewel Hubbard, New Brunswick, N.J., and Mary Chandler, Chicago; two brothers, Carl Coln, Corinith, Miss., and George Coln, Chattanooga; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Painter officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton County Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today after 10 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405.

Virginia Daniel
Virginia B. Daniel died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 87.
Mrs. Daniel was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church and was retired from Hart's Automotive Parts Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Paul Daniel.
Survivors include two sisters, Mabel B. Powell, Chattanooga, and Jean B. Hoppe, Hixson; two brothers, W.G. Bishop, Stockbridge, Ga., and Francis A. Bishop, Chattanooga.
The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Ezra Fears
The Rev. Ezra Fears died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at his home. He was 75.
Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Paul Higdon
Paul William Higdon of Soddy-Daisy died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 68.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Harley Morrison officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Edel Houston
Edel Houston died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 53.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home. N

W. Ross Huskey
W. Ross Huskey of St. Elmo died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 77.
He was a graduate of Central High School and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Huskey had been a lifestock dealer for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen C. Huskey; one son, Grant Huskey, Hixson; stepson, Larry Sells, Cleveland, Tenn.; brother, Jim Huskey, Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Alma Schillhahn, Hixson, and June Peters, Rossville; one grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, with the Rev. Marshall Roberson officiating.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Siskin Foundation, One Siskin Plaza, Chattanooga, TN 37403 or to a favorite charity.

Bobbie Hyde
Bobbie Jean Hyde died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 67.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Ferguson officiating.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Iva Kell
Iva M. Kell of Signal Mountain died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in an area nursing home.
Arrangements will be announced by J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home.

Robert Lane Sr.
Robert Calhoun Lane Sr. died Sunday, May 14, 2000, in a nursing home in Atlanta. He was 89.
He was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired custodian at Red Bank United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Armanda Landers Lane.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Lane Mayfield, Chattanooga, and Patricia Lane, Atlanta; two sons, Robert C. Lane Jr., Knoxville, and Jack Lane, Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold K. Lester officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
The body will be at Taylor Funeral Home today after 11:30 a.m. and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.

Dennis Marshall
Dennis Neal Marshall of Signal Mountain died Monday, May 15, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 47.
A memorial service will be today at 4 p.m. EDT at Signal Mountain Church of God on Timberlink Road.
Arrangements are by Putnam-Standifer-Reed Funeral Home, Dunlap, Tenn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.

Walter Maschke
Walter Joachim Maschke of East Ridge died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home. He was 60.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at noon at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Viola Mays
Viola Mays died Monday, May 15, 2000. She was 86.
The funeral will be today at noon at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with minister Henry Billens officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

James McBride
James Donald McBride died Monday, May 15, 2000, at his home. He was 61.
Graveside services will be today at 11;30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Dr. Carroll Wallace officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Eva "Skeet" Simpson died Monday, May 15, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 81.
She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph L. and Alfonzo P. Simpson, and a daughter, Sylvia Simpson.
Survivors include four daughters, Norma J. Ball, Yvonne Hawkins, Linda Allen and Shirley Washington; adopted daughter, Louise Allen, Chattanooga; three sons, Albert L. Holt, Jacksonville, Fla., Alfonzo Simpson, Chattanooga, and Richard Simpson, Atlanta; several grandchildren, great-grndchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeal Home with pastor Alfred Hawkins and pastor James Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will be at the funeral home after noon today.

Lillian Smith
Lillian Benson Smith died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 85.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Roy Stubblefield
Roy Stubblefield died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 75.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of North Red Bank Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Randy Stubblefield, Red Bank, Tim Stubblefield, Hixson, Ray Stubblefield, Jasper, Tenn., and Roy Stubblefield Jr., Florida; daughter, Barbara Lynn Stubblefield, Chicago; two sisters, Mamie Fisher, Red Bank, and Christine Canale, Hixson; four brothers, A.J. Stubblefield and Leon Stubblefield, Red Bank; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Noma Tucker
Noma Hickman Tucker died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in a hospital in Atlanta. She was 85.
Mrs. Tucker was the widow of Ambrose Tucker.
She had lived in Chattanooga for 60 years prior to moving to Atlanta two years ago. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and had worked many years at Calsted Home, as well as the local hospitals. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church, the LPN Association and Happy Go Lucky Womens Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn June Tucker Keller, Atlanta; son, Byron Glen Tucker, Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Eva Hickman Ballew, Chattanooga; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with the Rev. M.E. Roberson and minister Freddie Clayton officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 2;30 p.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home.

Raymond Webb
Raymond Andrew Webb died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in a local health care facility. He was 88.
Mr. Webb had lived in Nashville prior to moving to Chattanooga in 1980. He was of the Pentacostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Webb; sons, Raymond Earl and John Webb, both of Nashville, and Guy Webb, Kentucky; daughter, Linda Webb, Kentucky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Lorene Whittle
Lorene Elizabeth Whittle died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in a local lifecare center. She was 89.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Bryson officiating.
Burial will be in Plowman Cemetery in Apison.

Sarah Willhoit
Sarah Kathleen Willhoit, a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 92.
Mrs. Willhout was a descendent of a pioneer family of Signal Mountain. She was a member of Forrest Avenue United Methodist Church and the widow of James H. Willhoit.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Peck, Chattanooga, and Sue Monroe, Hixson; five grndchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Forrest Avenue United Methodist Church Building Fund, Box 4002, Chattanooga, TN 37405.
