Johnny Akers
Johnny Shane Akers died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was 23.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. EST in Brown's Gap Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Hicks officiating.
Arrangements are by Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton, Ga.

Alice Anderson
A memorial Mass for former Lookout Mountain resident Alice Davenport Anderson will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church on Lookout Mountain.
Mrs. Anderson died Monday, March 13, in Richmond, Va., where she made her home. She was 79.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service in Cavanaugh Hall at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Lamar Arnold
Lamar Arnold died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Douglas Bales
Douglas Bales died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 88.
Mr. Bales was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Dean Bales.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Bales, Chattanooga; four daughters, Martha "Marty" Underhill and Marilyn James, both of Rossville, Ga., Pricillia Pope, Chattanooga, and Cathy Cleek, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Bales officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph Davis
Ralph Davis died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 63.
Mr. Davis was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was retired from Dixie Savings Warehouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Maycil Davis; two brothers, John and Jackie Davis; and a sister, Francis Mathis.
Survivors include his daughter, Valerie Davis, Chattanooga; stepson, Terrance Swint, Marietta, Ga.; three sisters, Dorothy and Mary Davis and Martha Sims, all of Chattanooga; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Monday at 10 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will be at the funeral home after noon today.

R.H. Drake
R.H. Drake died Thursday, March 23, 2000. He was 49.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Charles Gunn
Charles Gunn died Friday, March 24, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 85.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Maverine Harris
Maverine Harris died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 76.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Daniel Heaps
Daniel L. Heaps of East Brainerd died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was 45.
The Chattanooga native had lived in Asheville, N.C., for several years before moving back to Chattanooga three years ago. He was a Baptist and attended Central High School.
Survivors include four sons, Daniel Heaps, Ringgold, Ga., Mathew Heaps, Trenton, Ga., and Luke and Dillion Heaps, Black Mountain, N.C.; two daughters, Amanda Heaps, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Danielle Heaps, Black Mountain; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Heaps, East Brainerd; two brothers, Bruce and Jack Heaps, both of Chattanooga; two sisters, Patricia Voss, Sacramento, Calif., and Deborah Ellis, Dayton, Tenn.; four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, with the Rev. Peter Read officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Anne Key
Anne E. Key of East Ridge died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at her home. She was 75.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Womack officiating.
Private burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Kilgore
Charles A. "Chip" Kilgore died Wednesday, March 1, 2000. He was 21.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Cloud Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Franks officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until the service at the church.
Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Home, Chattanooga.

Charles Lyon
Charles William Lyon died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 75.
Mr. Lyon, a graduate of Vanderbilt University, retired from Robert C. Jones & Son Food Brokers. He was an elder at Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norvell Jones Lyon; daughter, Elizabeth Lyon Murray, Signal Mountain; son, Charles Elliott Lyon, Hendersonville, Tenn.; and a stepgranddaughter.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Ezekiel officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 1815 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404.

Sarah McAllister
Sarah Lee McAllister died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 81.
The funeral will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Essie Menifee
Essie LueElla Menifee died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was 91.

Billie Morris
Billie Ruth Morris died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at her home. She was 70.
Arrangements will be announced by the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends today from 3 to 9 p.m.

Dr. Hew Morrow III
Dr. S. Hew Morrow III, chief of the radiology department at Erlanger Medical Center, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 23, 2000, in Cancun, Mexico.
Arrangements will be announced by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Louise Norris
Louise Tindell Norris died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 86.
Mrs. Norris was self-employed in the furniture industry for many years in Daytona Beach, Fla., where she lived from 1967 to 1990. She was a Baptist and the widow of Claude B. "Ace" Norris Jr.
Survivors include a stepson, C.B. Norris III, Chattanooga; brother, Milton Tindell, Chattanooga; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and three nephews.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 10 a.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Frank Pearce
Francis A. "Frank" Pearce of Signal Mountain died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at his home. He was 83.
Mr. Pearce retired from Provident after 40 years there and was a member of First Baptist Church, Signal Mountain Masonic Lodge and the Chattanooga Half Century Club. He was born in Calhoun, Ga., and educated in Chattanooga city schools.
Survivors include his wife, Tillie McKown Pearce.
A graveside service will be today at 2:30 p.m. in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until the service at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, 401 Gateway Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37402, or Salvation Army, 800 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Gary Lynn Smith died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 47.

Willie Mae Aileen Baxter Voiles died Friday, March 24, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 77.
Mrs. Voiles was a member of White Oak Church of Christ and retired from Signal Knitting Mills after 25 years there.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Henderson; a son, John Henderson; a granddaughter, a niece and a nephew.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with minister Garnett Randolph officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lacey Robert Weaver of East Ridge died Monday, March 20, 2000, at his home. He was 75.
