A funeral Mass for LeRoy A. Eichhorn, 80, a retired Des Plaines florist shop owner, was celebrated Nov. 26 in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Rosemont. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Arrangements were by G.L. Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines. He owned the Irving Park Florist business for many years. Surviving are his widow, Kathleen (nee Tobin); children Robert (Mary Anne), William (Sue), Thomas, and Gail (Don Drygalski; grandchildren Kevin, Jeff (Mary), Beth, Katie, Mike, and Kurt. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Bock.

REBECCA LOUISE GARRITY Of Elk Grove
A memorial Mass for Rebecca Louise Garrity, 10, of Elk Grove Village, will be held 9:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, located at Park and Mitchell streets in Arlington Hts. Born in Maywood on Aug. 30, 1995, Rebecca passed away Friday, Nov. 25 at home. She is survived by her parents, Patrick and Lisa; siblings, Branden Green, Jessica and Patrick Garrity Jr.; grandparents, Patricia and John Garrity, Jim Rosas and Judy Long. A funeral service for Emily Geiger (nee Wiegel), 91 of Des Plaines, was held Monday, Nov. 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment in Ridgewood Cemetery. Born in Chicago on Dec. 28, 1913, Mrs. Geiger passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Park Ridge. She moved to Des Plaines in 1951 had worked as a checker for a grocery store. Mrs. Geiger was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Fred; and her brothers, Dave (Jean) Wiegel and Carl (Zola) Wiegel. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Geiger and Jan (Rick) Carcerino; grandchildren, Lorn (Nicole) and Brynn Carcerino; sister, Lois (late Ken) Katzel; and her nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by G.L. Hills Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 855 Lee St., Des Plaines.

MARGARET C. GOLEAS Former Des Plainesite
A funeral Mass for Margaret C. Goleas (nee Nannucci), 88, a 50-year resident of Des Plaines, was celebrated Nov. 26 in Addolorata Villa, Wheeling. Interment was private.Arrangements were by Severino's River Woods Funeral Chapels. Born on the nation's first Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 1917, in Chicago, she worked as a secretary in the Chicago loop and assisted her husband, Thomas, in his advertising illustration business. "She was the daughter of a painter, the sister of a musician, the wife of an illustrator, and the mother of a designer and a gifted vocalist, she loved to be surrounded by the art her family created," one family member said of her. Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters Gloria and Gail, and grandson Brian. She was preceded in death by her sister, Flora, brothers Bruno and Joseph, and parents Oreste and Caroline.

WILLIAM C. MANN WWII Vet., Maine HS Wrestling Coach, Mason
A funeral service for William C. Mann, 81, of Arlington Hts., was held Monday, Nov. 28 at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington Hts. Born in Danville on Nov. 26, 1923, Mr. Mann passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Arlington Hts. He had a lifetime of history in the sport of wrestling, playing for the Danville High School team for four years, where he served as captain and placed fifth in a state meet. He later wrestled as a student captain for the University of Illinois, then coached that team for seven years after graduating. Mr. Mann later coached for Maine East and Maine South high schools in Park Ridge. He also started his own wrestling clinic at the University of Illinois. Among his other contributions to the sport, he served as a state official referee for 23 years, including 16 district and sectional tournaments and seven state final tournaments. On Mar. 24, Mr. Mann was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Mr. Mann had joined the Shriners in 1966. He had also been master of the Park Ridge Masonic Lodge #988 for three terms. Mr. Mann is survived by his wife, Marjorie (nee Miles); children, Linda (Philip) Roberts and Carla (Daniel) Epperson; and his grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia and Victoria. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago 60707 or to Southminster Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were made by Friedrichs Funeral Home.

SALVATORE "SAM" MARZULLO State Comm. of Italian-American War Veterans
A funeral Mass for Salvatore "Sam" A. Marzullo, 80, of Niles was held Saturday, Oct. 22 at Maryville Academy. Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Born in Chicago on July 4, 1925, Mr. Marzullo passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19. His parents, Carmello and Angelina (nee Corfeo), immigrated from Accera, Naples, Italy in 1921, and the family was raised in Chicago's "Little Italy" neighborhood. Shortly after graduating Crane Technical School in 1943, Mr. Marzullo was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was trained as a wireman and transferred overseas in December of 1944, where he served under the 7th Army until he was transferred under General Patton's command in the 3rd Army. Mr. Marzullo earned two battle stars before his discharge in April of 1946.
He later became a member of the International Brotherhood of Technical Workers, Local 134. He retired after 42 years in the field. Mr. Marzullo belonged to the Italian-American War Veterans of Illinois, and served as state commander of that organization. He was the husband of Anne; and father of Salvatore (Sam), Jerome and Pamela Anne; brother of Dominic, Sam, Jerry, Carmen and Carmella Lupo. Arrangements were made by Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence in Norridge.

WILLIAM L. OBERHEIDE HVAC Wholesaler, Youth Campus Leader
A memorial service for William Leonard Oberheide, 68, of Park Ridge, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 205 N. Prospect Ave. in Park Ridge. Visitation will take place Friday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ryan Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Hwy. Born in Chicago on April 22, 1937, Mr. Oberheide passed away Sunday, Nov. 20 at his home. He grew up in Edgebrook and attended Taft High School on the Northwest Side of Chicago, where he met his future wife, Suzanne Unger. They married in 1958 and moved to Park Ridge, where they raised their three children. Mr. Oberheide started out working for the family coal and oil company that was founded in 1873, but he eventually started his own business, G & O Thermal Supply Co., with a childhood friend. The business started out in a small Milwaukee Avenue storefront in Chicago, but has since grown to six locations that spread as far as Milwaukee.
In the community, Mr. Oberheide served on the board of the Park Ridge Youth Campus for the past six years. He devoted his time to two Youth Campus projects: Kid Power, whose mission is to provide support to children with serious illnesses, and Pathways to Development, which provides special opportunities to children in foster care. Mr. Oberheide also enjoyed golfing with friends and family, being a third-generation member of Medinah Country Club since 1959. He served on various committees with the club. He was also an avid football fan, and his family has had Chicago Bears season tickets dating back to when the team played at Wrigley Field. Mr. Oberheide is survived by his wife, Suzanne; children, Jane Zutter (Steve), Bill (Rose Anne) and Kate Lewis (Greg); grandchildren, Katie and Julz Zutter, Rachel and John Oberheide, and Neil and Claire Lewis; mother-in-law, Helen Unger; brother, Robert; sister-in-law, Lois Sladkey (John); and his many nieces and nephews.

STANLEY S. SOGAR World War II Veteran
A memorial Mass for Stanley S. Sogar, 88, of Des Plaines took place on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Des Plaines. Interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Hts. Mr. Sogar was born on March 26, 1917 in Chicago. A WW II veteran, Mr. Sogar worked as a supervisor in manufacturing and was a 50 year resident of Des Plaines. Mr. Sogar died on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Mr. Sogar was preceded in death by his wife Lottie (nee Kwick); and his daughter Shirley Ann (Robert) Richardson; and brothers Walter and Mitchel. Mr. Sogar is survived by his son Steven (Patricia); his daughter Charlotte (Richard) Brockman; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; his brother Steve (the Late Alice); and many nieces and nephews. RAYMOND H. VOSS ComEd Crew Leader Foreman, Army Veteran
A funeral service for Raymond H. Voss, 76, of Niles, was held Wednesday, Nov. 23 at St. Juliana Church. Born in Chicago on June 22, 1929, Mr. Voss passed away Sunday, Nov. 20 at Resurrection Medical Center. He had served in the Army and worked for Commonwealth Edison as a crew leader foreman. Mr. Voss was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Emma. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn M.; children, Cindy (James) Altman, Karen Voss, Robert Voss and Ronald (Laura) Voss; and his grandchildren, Kristy, Kelly and Cory. A funeral service for Pamona Ann Williams (nee McCarthy), 88, of Arlington Hts., was held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. Born in Chicago on April 11, 1917, Mrs. Williams passed away Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Lutheran Home. She had worked as a secretary to the psychology department for Maine Twp. High Schools for over 20 years. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard. She is survived by her children, Sharon Kollmer, Laurel Triscari and Charles R. (Debi) Williams; grandchildren, Heather and Christopher Kollmer, Ami (Sean) Rauschlein, Joseph Triscari, Faith and Caitlin Williams; and her sister, Elaine Wakefield.

ALEX R. BARTSCH Age 21
Alex R. Bartsch of Rolling Meadows died Saturday. He was born May 4, 1984 in Arlington Hts. Visitation was held Tuesday at Meadows Funeral Home. Services took place at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Palatine before interment at Memory Gardens in Arlington Hts. Mr. Bartsch is survived by parents Richard and Susan; grandparents Helen Bartsch and James and Marilyn Jones; and sisters Lauren and Kelsey. KATHLEEN M. BORSKI Age 42
Elk Grove resident and Chicago native Kathleen M. Borski passed away Nov. 19 at the age of 42. She was celebrated with services at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles, St. Mary of the Woods Church and St. Adalbert Cemetery. Mrs. Borski was employed as a product buyer for Walgreen's. She and her mother, Helen E., were killed in an auto wreck in Lake County Nov. 19. She is survived by sister Mary (Peter) Vaccarezza and was preceded in death by father Edward.

MARIAN W. CHERNICK Member of Garden Club
Marian W. Chernick (nee Wojnarowski), a 45-year resident of Elk Grove Village, passed away Nov. 24 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Services were held at Grove Memorial Chapel and St. Michael Cemetery in Palatine. Mrs. Chernick was a homemaker and had also been a member of the Elk Grove Garden Club. She was 76 years old. Mrs. Chernick was preceded in death by husband Ronald L. and daughter Nancy J. Survivors include sons David R. (Christine M.) and Jeffrey J. (Lynn M. Zeitler); daughter Gail C. (Bryan T.) Hand; sister Irene T. Warner; and grandchildren Jonathan D., Matthew R., Michael J., Keith R., Sam and Alex Chernick and Stephanie M. and Timothy Ronald Hand.

FREDERICK D. MARTURANO Of Arlington Hts.
The life of Frederick D. Marturano was celebrated with Mass Sunday at St. Norbert Church and services Monday at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and All Saints Cemetery. A pressman by trade, Mr. Marturano was a veteran of the U.S. Army. The Arlington Hts. resident passed away Nov. 23 at the age of 90. Mr. Marturano was preceded in death by wife Florence and brother August (the late Mary) Marturano. Surviving are daughters Sandra (Leonard) Lisowski, Doris Marturano and Carole (Joseph A.) Vitaterna; brother Vincent (Ruth) Marturano; sisters Margaret (the late Walter) Kranz and Mary Lou (the late Jack) Ringhofer; grandchildren Julie (Michael) Strasser and Amy and Joseph F. (Martha) Vitaterna; and great-grandchildren Sophia Strasser and Melanie, Olivia and Angela Vitaterna.

JUSTIN A. HIPONA Age 18
Rolling Meadows resident Justin A. Hipona passed away Sunday. The 2005 Rolling Meadows High School graduate was born July 21, 1987 in Hoffman Estates. Mr. Hipona was a freshman at Northern Illinois University. He is survived by parents Arnold and Rosemarie Hipona and grandparents Rebecca and Edison Hipona. Visitation takes place Friday from 3-9 p.m. at Meadows Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Colette Church.

CAROL SHIRLEY SHAW Age 70
Carol Shirley Shaw (nee Hickman) of Rolling Meadows died Nov. 25 at her home. A supervisor for Market Fax for 33 years, she was born Feb. 18, 1935 in Chicago. Preceded in death by husband Robert E., Mrs. Shaw is survived by daughter Nancy; grandchild Tristan E.; siblings Beverly Lowe, Mary Kathern Mallow and William Pugh; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation takes place Friday at Meadows Funeral Home From 2-9 p.m. Services are Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home before interment at St. Lucas Cemetery in Chicago. A funeral service for Nancy H. Broman, 72, of Des Plaines, took place Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Visitation took place Friday, Dec. 16, 3 to 9 p.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Born in Chicago on Nov. 12, 1933, Ms. Broman worked as an artist. Ms. Broman died Monday, Dec. 12, at Rush North Shore Hospital.
Ms. Broman is survived by her son Richard (Barbara) M. Saklak; daughter Diane (Tom) Saklak-Kretschmar; four grandchildren; and brother Leroy (Nancy) Broman.

Age 45
Niles resident Dawn Femmel DeCicco passed away Dec. 7. She was born Aug. 21, 1960 in Park Ridge. Services were held Dec. 9-10 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. The deceased made her living as an office manager for a construction company.

A funeral Mass for Connie Felsenthal (nee Raino), 79, of Park Ridge, was held Monday, Dec. 19 at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Felsenthal passed away Dec. 15. She served for 35 years as democratic judge of elections, first ward, 93d precinct.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Robert (Claire), Keith and Greg (Cindy); grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Marcia, Maria, Paul and Marc; siblings, Rosalie (late John) Federici, Pauline (late Frank) Rizzo, Nick (Jackie) Raino and Mary Lou (late Gordon) Carter; and her many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass for Ann Marie Knapp, 89, of Niles, was celebrated Dec. 17 in St. John Brebeuf Church. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. A native of Chicago, she died Dec. 14 in Brighton Gardens Nursing Home. She was a long-time employee of Sears Roebuck and Co. and was an active member of St. John Brebeuf Parish and the Golden Agers group.
Widow of the late Frank Joseph Knapp, she is survived by sons Frank (Dorothy) and Anthony (Peggy); grandchildren Kevin (Kristi), Peter (Jennifer), Daniel (Stacy), and David; and siblings Matthew (Lorrie) Mirek, Wally Mirek, Celia Zurawski, and Helene Bednarz Panzika. She was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Mirek. Memorials are requested to Heartland Hospice in Lake Bluff, IL.

SHIRLEY A. MORAGNE
Grandmother of three
Shirley A. Moragne, who had lived in Des Plaines for four years after living in Chicago, passed away Dec. 14 at Glenbrook Hospital. Born Dec. 27, 1956 to James P. Moragne Sr. and Mary L. Moragne (nee Smith) in Due West, S.C., Ms. Moragne was a longtime employee of USG Corp. and a part-time employee of TCF Bank in Schiller Park.
Ms. Moragne is survived by son Charles (Teri) Moragne of Des Plaines; daughter Krysti (Will) Barksdale of Arlington Hts.; mother Mary L. Moragne; sisters Barbara Elayne Moragne and Wanda Joyce; brothers Rev. James P. Moragne Jr. and Michael Moragne; and three grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Severinošs River Woods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines.

MARY AGNES NEUMAN
Of Park Ridge
A funeral service for Mary Agnes Neuman, 90, took place on Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Church, Park Ridge. Miss Neuman was a longtime resident of Park Ridge and retired librarian. She died on Friday, Dec. 9 at St. Matthew Center for Health. Miss Neuman was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Neuman; sister Ruth, and closest friend, Mildred Carpenter. She is survived by her niece Ann; and nephews Ryan and Robert Christiansen.
Funeral arrangements were made by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge.

DONALD PAUL PALM
Age 80
Donald Paul Palm, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 24 years, passed away Dec. 17 at Alexian Bros. Medical Center. He was remembered with a Mass at Queen of the Rosary Church in Chicago and laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
Mr. Palm was preceded in death by brothers Robert (Elsie) and Kerchival (Rose Mary) and sisters Kathryn Darsch, Marge Rau and Adele (Robert) Yundt. Survivors include brother Herbert (Shirley) and sisters Virginia (Howard) Rau, Frances Schmidt, Delores (Donald) Frantz, Rose Mary Zemke and Patricia (Paul) Mertz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.

ROGER J. PATZER
WW II Veteran, Civil Engineer
A funeral service for Roger J. Patzer, 81, took place on Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. at Meadows Funeral Home with visitation held prior to the service on Friday, 3 to 8 p.m. Interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Hts. Born in Chicago on March 5, 1924, Mr. Patzer was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army in the 373rd Engineering Regiment and the 82nd Airbourne Div. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. A retired civil engineer and land developer, Mr. Patzer was founder and president of Applied Engineering and Evergreen Development. He was also one of the founding trustees of Elk Grove Village. Mr. Patzer died on Monday, Dec. 12 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Patzer was preceded in death by his parents August and Katherine (nee Ewald) Patzer; five sisters and three brothers. Mr. Patzer is survived by his wife Edie (nee Heimerl); daughters Janet (Steve Hubbard), Barbara Martinek; son Paul (Ellen); three grandchildren; brother Arthur (late Virginia), Julian (Isabel) and sister Geri (Vince) Bugarin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vitas Hospice, 580 Waters Edge, Lombard, IL. Funeral arrangements were made by Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows.

KATHLEEN J. SCHLENKER
Of Schaumburg
A memorial Mass for Kathleen J. Schlenker (nee Schweigert), 58, took place on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 11:30 a.m. at St. Marcelline Church, in Schaumburg. Inurnment took place at Momence Cemetery in Momence, Ill. Born in Kankakee on June 13, 1947, Mrs. Schlenker was an employee at United Airlines Baggage Services. She died on Thursday, Dec. 8 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
Mrs. Schlenker was preceded in death by her parents Francis Bossert and Eula Elouise Schweigert; and her grandparents David and Gertrude Schweigert, and Robert and Frances Burns. Mrs. Schlenker is survived by her sons William, Brett, and Robert; four grandchildren; brothers Francis and Robert; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were made by Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village.

RAYMOND SLANINKA
Formerly Of Rolling Meadows
A funeral service for Raymond Slaninka, 85, of Fallsbrook, Calif., and formerly of Rolling Meadows took place on Monday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m. at the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Interment took place at Fairview Memorial Park, Northlake. Born in Chicago on March 28, 1920, Mr. Slaninka, a WW II veteran, worked for AT&T and for Lucent as an electronics engineer for many years.
He died on Monday, Dec. 12 at the Corona Medical Rehabilitation Center in Corona, Calif. Mr. Slaninka was preceded in death by his wife Ethel and his brother Frank Slaninka. He is survived by his daughter Janet (Robert) Hickey; son Raymond M. (Lorna); three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Funeral arrangements were made by Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows.

Navy Veteran
A funeral service for Fred Joseph Thoma, 78, took place on Friday, Dec. 16, 11 a.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Born in Chicago on Feb. 20, 1927, Mr. Thoma was a tool & dye laborer and navy veteran. He died at Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Mr. Thoma was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elma (nee Novotny) Thoma.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (nee Kappler); son Martin (Coleen); daughters Linda (Donald) Jensen, Donna (Dave) Alden; and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Niles Community Church.

DONALD E. WIRSING
Of Elk Grove
A memorial service for Donald E. Wirsing, 68, formerly of Elk Grove, will take place Wednesday, Dec. 28, 8:30 p.m. at Meadows Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday, Dec. 28, 6:30 p.m. prior to the service at Meadows Funeral Home. Born in Chicago on Apr. 11, 1937, Mr. Wirsing was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army. He later retired from high-tech manufacturing as a purchasing estimator, and tool and die maker. A former resident of Elk Grove, Mr. Wirsing died Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Delton, Fla.
Mr. Wirsing is survived by his wife Esther; children Mark (Karen), Paul, Martin (Esther), Concetta Brunning, Tammie (Robert) Barther, Vickie Odgers, Jerry (Jennifer) Brunning, Lisa (Rob) Kaplin; 17 grandchildren; and brothers Howard (Mary), and Fred (Micky).
