Johnny Blackwell
Johnny Lee Blackwell died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in a Tampa, Fla., hospital. He was 63.
Mr. Blackwell graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was employed by the Hillsborough school system.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Blackwell.
Survivors include 12 children; four sisters, Helen Blackwell, Loretta Hill, Dorothy Johnson and Louise Stampler; and two brothers, Nathaniel Blackwell and David Blackwell.
The funeral will be Friday at noon at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jay P. Tremble officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Catherine Brown
Catherine Brown died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 76.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Louise Clark
Louise Derrick Clark died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 78.
She was a native of Huntsville, Ala., and a member of Tucker Baptist Church.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Clark; and four brothers, Sherman, Fred, Oscar Jr. and Andrew Derrick.
Survivors include four brothers, James, William, Ernest and Lee Derrick; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Tucker Baptist Church with the Rev. M.T. Billingsley officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Mollie Crowder
Mollie F. Crowder of Ooltewah died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 85.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. James Elkins and the Rev. Fred Russell officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home.

George Davenport
George Webster Davenport of Signal Mountain died Monday, May 22, 2000, in a local health care facility. He was 87.
The funeral will be today at 11:15 a.m. at St. Augustine Chapel of Alexian Village with the Rev. Lewis Junod and Monsignor Leo Siener officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Alexian Village.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alexian Brothers Community Services, 425 Cumberland St., Suite 305, Chattanooga, TN 37421, or the Alzheimer's Association, 6925 Shallowford Road, Suite 305, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Selena Davidson
Selena Mitchell Davidson died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 91.
The funeral will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Adams officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Mildred Dwyer
A memorial Mass for Mildred Roberts Dwyer will be said Saturday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Mrs. Dwyer died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, in San Antonio. She was 92.
She was born Oct. 22, 1907 in Weakley County, Tenn. She was a Catholic and a retired registered nurse.
Survivors include a son, James E. Dwyer, Chattanooga; daughter, Marilyn F. Dwyer, San Antonio; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405.
Arrangements are by the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Timothy Goss
Timothy Goss died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 44.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, an employee of National Posters Printing and a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Goss Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Goss; daughter, Belinda Hampton, Chattanooga; two stepdaughters, Shearrah A. Adams, Anchorage, Alaska, and Shirlice A. Adams, Chicago; mother, Claudia Askew, Chattanooga; two brothers, Robert Goss Jr. and Christopher Goss, both of Lufkin, Texas; two sisters, Stephanie Owens, Austell, Ga., and Alice Morgan, Chattanooga; two grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Community Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bud Ballard officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will be at Taylor Funeral Home after noon today and at the church Friday one hour before the service.

Robert Hernendez
Robert Alexander Hernendez of Red Bank died Friday, May 19, 2000, at his home. He was 17.
A native of Los Angeles, he was the son of the late Robert P. Hernandez, and a student at Red Bank High School.
Survivors include his mother, Rose Marie Hernandez, Pa Puente, Calif.; stepmother, Talma Hernandez, Chattanooga; two sisters, Vanessa Facjo, LaPuente; and Diane Hernandez, El Monte, Calif.; nieces; and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 5 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral home.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
His remains will be sent to Guerra-Gutierrez Funeral Home in Los Angeles for further services and burial.

Andreana Hill
Andreana Renee Hill, infant daughter of Gloria Hill and Anthony Michael Crowder, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at her home.
Other survivors include her grandparents, Sharon and Charles McDonald, Chattanooga, Deborah Crowder, Philadelphia, and Anthony Harrison and Efram Tony; great-grandmother, Stelia Smiley; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, East.
Visitation will be Friday after 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Roy Hudlow
Roy Edwin Hudlow of East Ridge and a native of Dalton, Ga., died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 86.
He was a member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church, an active member of the East Ridge Senior Citizens, and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie P. Hudlow and a son, John A. Hudlow.
Survivors include a son, Thomas W. Hudlow, Evensville, Tenn.; daughter, Nancy H. Kyker, Sweetwater, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles C. Hudlow, McDonough, Ga., and James H. Hudlow, Chattanooga; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. William D. Slawter and the Rev. Fred Manning officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memory Gardens.

Virginia Hatfield Hudson of East Ridge died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 80.
Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Nellie Kizzar
Nellie Brown Kizzar died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Soddy-Daisy Healthcare Center. She was 97.
A native of Brayton, Tenn., she was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and the widow of Elijah Kizzar.
Survivors include a son, William Kizzar, Brayton; daughter, Eliza Jane Mayo, Chattanooga; sister, Loeta Lewis; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville, Tenn.
Burial will be in Brayton Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT at the funeral home.

Johnnie Mae Moore died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 83.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Annie Neal
Annie Mae Neal died Monday, May 22, 2000, at her home. She was 91.
She was a native of Madison, Ala., and a member of Christian Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Columbus Neal, and a son, Eddie Neal.
Survivors include her daughters, Ida Jean Keith and Cora Watkins; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be Friday at noon at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Harrison Toney officiating.
There will be no visitation at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Hubert Pless
Hubert A. Pless Jr. of Signal Mountain died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Alexian Village. He was 83.
Arrangements will be announced by the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Lakisha Sanders
Lakisha DeQuan Sanders died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 26.

Mary Sandifer Sanders died Monday, May 22, 2000, in an area nursing home. She was 57.

Antonious D. Smith died Monday, May 22, 2000, in Nashville. He was 20.

Hattie F. Smith died Monday, May 22, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 94.
She was the widow of Willie B. Smith.
Survivors include a daughter, Luvera Crowder, Chattanooga; son, Robert Allen, Birmingham, Ala.; brother, Daniel Henry Walton, Birmingham; sisters, Beular Mae Fielder, Chattanooga, and Melissa Vines, Buffalo, N.Y.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. CST at Zion Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Birmingham
The body will be at Taylor Funeral Home after noon today.

Dennis Thompson Jr.
Dennis Thompson Jr. died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 22.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Spoliwa Bible Church with minister Darryl Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Thomas Wilson
Thomas Lee Wilson of the Bakewell community died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at his home. He was 82.

The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
