Miss Donzella M. (Donzie) Arbaugh
Miss Donzella M. (Donzie) Arbaugh, 65, of Barboursville went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 2, 1999, at the home of her niece, Edie. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 4, 1999, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Minister Walter Brewer. Burial in the Barboursville Cemetery. She was born July 3, 1934, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Floyd and Edith Patterson Arbaugh. She was a member of Farmdale Church of Christ and the Barboursville Senior Ciitizens Association. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis (Whistle) Arbaugh and James Arbaugh. She is survived by three sisters and one brother-in-law, Geraldine (Jerrie) Beckett of Huntington, Madeliene and Chet Sheppard of Melbourne, Fla., and Kathleen Rayburn of Milton; one brother, Leo Arbaugh of Barboursville; several nieces and nephews; a loving and caring niece, Edith (Edie) Hanley; a special friend, Eva Watson; a very special friend and caregiver, Angie Smith; and her good neighbors on Spencer Avenue.

Kenice Adkins
Kenice Adkins, 70, of Milton, husband of Sarah Cart Adkins, died Monday, November 22, 1999 in St. Mary's Hospital. Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda Leigh Adkins of Manassas, Va., Teresa Jean Raines of Milton and Stacie Marie Adkins at home; and two sons, Kenice Eugene Adkins at home and Daniel Ray Adkins of Staunton Va. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Alfred Ray Abbott
Alfred Ray Abbott, 72, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, November 6, 1999, at the Veterans Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Pete Davidson. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born November 24, 1926, in Lincoln County, a son of the late John and Evona Frye Abbott. He retired from WV Department of Highways in Logan County as a top mechanic. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and was a member of the American Legion Post #0019 in Logan. He is survived by a lifelong friend and mother to his children, Margaret Crum of Huntington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and James Smith of Huntington, Linda and Joseph Sipocz of Myersville, Maryland; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Billy Abbott and David Abbott, both of Huntington, Johnny and Verina Abbott, James and Brandi Abbott, all of Hinesville, Georgia, Ronald and Kim Abbott of Hagerstown, Maryland; special friends, sister and brother-in-law to his children, Patty Ann and Perry Webb of Ranger, WV; twenty-one grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one almost here. Military graveside rites were conducted by V.F.W. Post #9738, Guyandotte. There are other special family members and friends who will miss you very much Ab. Take our love with you and we will hold yours always in our hearts.

James Matthew Adams
James Matthew Adams, 72, of Milton, WV, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Lower Creek United Methodist Church, Milton with the Rev. Ted Nance and the Rev. Roby Fraley officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Milton, WV, a son of the late Elijah and Virginia Shaffer Clagg Adams. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marie Jenkins, and two brothers, Howard and Morris Adams. He was a retired truck driver for Clagg Lumber. He was a member of Lower Creek United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dortha Yates Adams; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Stephen and Kathi Adams and John Matthew and Tina Adams, all of Milton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa Adkins of Coal Grove, OH and Nancy and Larry Dillon of Milton; five sisters, Elsie Ferrell, Magdalene Burdette, Malinda Wine, and Margie Scarberry, all of Milton, and Mabel Beshears of Rome, GA; two brothers, Eugene Adams of Huntington and Joseph Moses Adams of Winifrede, WV; ten grandchildren, Joshua Adams, Stephany Black, Jennifer Bill, Katherine Dillon, Amanda Dillon, James Dillon, Jamie Adkins, Johnathan Adams, Alicia Adams, and Nikki Adams; six great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Jessie Marie Adams
Mrs. Jessie Marie Adams, 69, of Ona, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999 at her home after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at the Beulah Ann Baptist Church, Ona, of which she was a member with Pastor Paul R. Meadows officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Jessie was born in Cabell County on Nov. 20, 1929. She was a daughter of the late Alvin Henry and Shirley Chloe Floyd Williams. Jessie was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Herman W. Adams; one son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Brenda Adams of Ona; two grandchildren, Brian C. Adams and Angela Dawn Adams and a sister, Billie Rose Hagley, all of Ona. Heck Funeral Home, Milton was in charge of arrangements.

Arbie Adkins
Arbie Adkins, 65, of Branchland, W.Va., died Sept. 17, 1999 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at noon Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel Barboursville, by Rev. Ray Adkins. Burial in Mays Cemetery, East Lynn. He was born Jan. 3, 1934 in Branchland, a son of the late Elba Adkins and Addie Mays Adkins. He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Adkins. He is survived by one son, Randy Adkins of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Randy’s mother, Dorothy Kutina of Branchland; two sisters, Elizabeth Tooley of Barboursville, and Doris Jean Tooley of Salt Rock, W.Va.; two brothers, Marion Adkins and Ollie Adkins, both of Huntington; grandchildren, Jeff and Faith Adkins; great-grandchild, Courtney Nicole Johnson.

Fanny Flora Ashworth
Fanny Flora Ashworth, 92, of Milton, widow of Delbert C. Ashworth, died Tuesday, August 31, 1999, in Sunrise Care and Rehabilitation Dunbar. She was a former employee of Huntington Manufacturing. Survivors include one son, Harold G. Ashworth of Milton. Graveside services were held Friday, Sept. 3, 1999 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Charles “Diesel” Ashworth
Charles “Diesel” Ashworth, 58, of Milton husband of Mary Blake Ashworth, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 19, 1999 at Heck Funeral Home with the Rev. George Surgeon officiating. Burial in Bicker Cemetery, Barkers Ridge. He was born Jan. 3, 1941 in Ona, WV, son of the late Fleetis and Stella Rolfe Ashworth. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for T.A. Chapman. Survivors include his wife, Mary Blake Ashworth; four daughters, Kelly Ash, Donna Clagg and Billie Fisher, all of Milton, and Kathy Martin of Ona; two sons, Charles Donavon Ashworth, Jr. of Ona and Tim Fitzgerald Ashworth of Milton; one sister, Joyce Bevins of Chapman, KY; two brothers, Raymond and Sammy Ashworth, both of Milton; two grandsons, Eric Ash and Anthony Ashworth; four step granddaughters; three nieces; and two nephews.

HOWARD TAFT ALGEO
Howard Taft Algeo, 90, of Barboursville, died March 28, 1999, in Mariner Health of Huntington. Funeral services were conducted at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel on Tuesday, March 30. Burial in Swann Cemetery, Barboursville. He was born on August 25, 1908, in Barboursville, a son of the late William Wirt and Etta Hensley Algeo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wroten Algeo. He is survived by his children, Ernest Jackson Algeo of Altus, OK, Rosalie Safford of Huntington, Billy Russell Algeo of Guatemala, Shirley Algeo of Columbus, Tex R. Algeo of Gahanna, OH, Howard Junior Algeo of Nashville, NC, Grace Marie Penney of Littlefield, TX, Betty A. Aikey of Columbus, OH, Charles E. Algeo of Barboursville, WV, and Ruth A. Sullivan of Concord. NC; one sister, Ruby Ward of Barboursville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

LONDEL GLEN ADKINS
Londel Glen Adkins, 57, of Wayne, WV, died Monday, April 12, 1999 at his residence after a battle with cancer. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 15, 1999 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Carlos Gibson. Burial in Bowen Cemetery. He was born May 19, 1941 in Wayne, WV, a son of Rosella Gilkerson Adkins of Huntington and the late Delbert Reno Adkins. He was also proceeded in death by one son, Londel Glen Adkins, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Adkins; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kim and Buddy Holley of Mayo, Fla., Kathy and Brent Gibson of Barboursville, and Rose Ann Adkins of Wayne; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laura Adkins of Wayne; two sisters, Jean Blankenship and Rose Aileen Adkins, both of Huntington; two brothers, Carl Adkins and Delbert Adkins, both of Huntington; and seven grandchildren.

ARLIE P. AYERS
Arlie P. Ayers, 73, of Barboursville, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 3, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Rome & Chapel by the Rev. Craig Coster. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born July 26, 1925 in Hinton, W.Va., a son of the late Arlie P. and Margaret Leake Ayers, Sr. He was a retired mailroom supervisor at the Huntington State Hospital. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, 104th Infantry Division in Europe and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #9738 and was a member of the American Legion #177 in Barboursville. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Wolfe Ayers, and his son Larry Dwain Ayers. He is survived by one grandson, Shawn Ayers of Barboursville; one granddaughter, Jennifer Carpenter of Chesapeake, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret Ann Simmons of Bluefield, Mary Francis House of Deland, Fla.; two brothers, John Ayers and Jimmy Ayers, both of Bluefield; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth, and Taylor. V.F.W. Post 9738, Guyandotte, conducted military graveside rites.

Thelma Lillian Adkins
Thelma Lillian Adkins, 84, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Booten Creek Rd., Barboursville, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at her residence. Funeral service were conducted Monday, June 7, 1999, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. John Fondrliak. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was a retired employee of Huntington Manufacturing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Adkins; and one son, C. Lee Adkins. She is survived by one son and: daughter-in-law, Dennis and Norma Adkins of Charleston; two grandchildren, Dennis Adkins, Jr. and Kelsey Adkins. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Doliver "Dob" Adkins
Doliver "Dob" Adkins, 67, of Huntington went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 6, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by the Rev. Walter Adkins and the Rev. Jimmy Lester. Burial in Mays Cemetery. He was born April 17, 1932, in Cabell County, a son of the late Elba arid Addie Mays Adkins. He was a retired owner and president of Adkins & Son Termite Pest Control. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Ramey. He is survived by his wife, Nola M. Gue Adkins; two daughters, Rhonda Johnson, and her husband, David Johnson, of Cheshire, MA, and their children, Kendra Nicole Hartlage of Boston, MA, Sarah Lynne Hartlage of Wisconsin, and Bruce Allen Hartlage of Adams, MA; Penny Kricia Preston, and her daughter, Kricia Denise Preston, both of Huntington; one son, Doliver Ray Adkins, and Margaret Ann Adkins, mother of Farrah Ann Adkins, and Doliver Ray Adkins Jr., all of Huntington. Also surviving are Denise's children, Spc. Michael David Ramey of Kentucky and Matthew Duane Ramey of Columbus, OH; two great-grandchildren, Ethan John-Paul Hartlage of Adams and Alexa Paige Ramey of Columbus; two sisters, Elizabeth Tooley and Lois Jean Daughtery, three brothers, Arba, Ollie and Marion Adkins; special thanks to brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raynor and Violet Gue and Wanda Adkins. William “Bill” Glen Arnold
William “Bill” Glen Arnold, 76, of South Point, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 27, 1999. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Gary Hayes and the Rev. Allen Sowards. Burial in Enon Cemetery. He was born July 31, 1922 in Preston County, a son of the late Joseph William and Ollie Mae Webster Arnold. He was a contractor and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Jess Arnold. He is survived by his wife, Silvlean Davis Arnold; three daughters, Becky Leicher of Kenova, Melanie Barnett of W. Jefferson, Ohio, and Virginia Justice of Ironton; two sisters, Bernice Weiford of Milton, and Josephine Desautell of Kaleva, Mich.; six grandchildren, Shawnda Arnold Martin, Kailah and Chris Douglas, Brandon Arnold, Adam and Viktoria Lewis; and one great-grandson, Cade Martin.

Bracie Ball
Bracie Ball, 92, of Milton, widower of Josephine Lilly Ball, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 at Heck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Davidson, grandson and Rev. Calvin Lilly officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born in Cabell County on December 28, 1906, a son of the late Isaac Munson Ball, Jr. and Louella Chapman Ball. He was retired from the C&O Railroad, So. Charleston, WV. He attended the Good Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in his death by four brothers, Martin, Otta, Vannie, and Bernie Ball; and five sisters, Essie Mills Morris, Rethal Ball, Goldie Martin, Tennie Ball, and Zelma Chapman. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Shirley and Bob Davidson of Culloden, Dixie and Jerrel Hodges of Hurricane and Peggy and Fred Dailey of Milton; one sister, Lelia Lunsford of Milton; Six grandsons and families, Steve, Linda, Brad and Brian Davidson of Newport, TN, Jim, Tammy, and Todd Davidson of Richmond, VA, Jerry, Cindy, Jeremy, and Jarrod Hodges of Scott Depot, WV, Michael (Dobie), Mary-Lynn, Isaac, and Ellie Hodges of Saline, MI, Fred, Veronica, and Aaron Dailey of Milton, Larry (Deano) Dailey of Milton. Harry Browning
Harry Browning, 80, of Milton, formerly of Whitman, husband of Hazel Wiley Browning, passed away Monday, Nov. 29,1999, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a retired coal miner from Amherst Coal Company, with 23-1/2 years of service. He was of Baptist faith. He was born on April 4, 1919, in Barnabus, W.Va, the son of the late Frank and Rosa Marcum Browning of Breeden, W.Va. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Harrietta (Titus) Workman of Fayetteville, N.C., and Nancy (Bill) Zirkle of South Boston, Va.; two grandchildren, Amy and Adam Zirkle.rkle of South Boston, Va.; one sister, Edna Newsome of Columbus, Ohio; and one adopted sister, Ireda Marcum of Wayne, W.Va. Graveside services were conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 1, by Rev. Joaquine Ooten at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, W.Va. Family members served as pallbearers.

Alma Louise Bird
Alma Louise Bird, 93, of Hurricane died Wednesday, December 1, 1999 in Putnam General Hospital. She was a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Lee of Hurricane; and three daughters, Inez Erskine of Wyandotte, Mich., Alice Beaver and Louise Beaver, both of Hurricane. Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 4, 1999 at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Carl Junior Bartram
Carl Junior Bartram, age 77, of Raccoon Creek Road, Branchland, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 23, 1999. Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 26, 1999 at Bethlehem United Baptist Church, of which he was a member, by the Rev. Vernon Perry, Rev. Truman Adkins and Rev. Ray Adkins. Burial in Ramey Cemetery, Raccoon Creek Road, Branchland. He was born November 12, 1922 in Cabell County, a son of the late Lewis and Anna Ramey Bartram. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Easter Lorene Bartram, one brother, Thomas Bartram, and one sister, Lessie Keesee. He was retired from Houdaille Industries and was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army in Italy, Africa, South Pacific and Central Europe. He is survived by one son, Carl J. Bartram II (J.R) of Branchland; four daughters and their spouses, Vickie and Homer Adkins, Tonia and Steve Fulks, all of Huntington, Linda and Ronnie Hatfield, Shelia and Larry Nicely, all of Branchland; three grandsons, Jason Hatfield and his wife Amy, Jeremy Hatfield, and Joshua Adkins; five granddaughters, Carrie and Erin Adkins, Haley, Kaitlyn, and Loren Fulks; two brothers, Ray and Harold Bartram, both of Huntington; two sisters, Estelle Perry of Huntington and Ruth Dial of Columbus, Ohio. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. A special thanks to Hospice Continuous Care and nurses, Sue, Lois, Debbie and Tanya.

Darrell R. Bias
Darrell R. Bias, 74, of Barboursville, WV, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999, at the Teays Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Private graveside services were conducted at the Greenbrier Burial Park, Hinton. He was born May 17, 1925, in Culloden, WV, a son of the late Charles Hershell and Mabel Clark Bias. He was retired with over forty years with CSX. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and served on the U.S.S. Yorktown. During his lifetime, Darrell was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hinton, Westmoreland, and Milton, the Masonic Lodge in Ceredo and Barboursville, Beni Kedem Shriners and Legion of Honor, Scottish Rite, S.A.R., and The Can Do Club (CSX Retirees). He enjoyed spending time with his much loved grandchildren, playing golf, helping with the Shriner Circus and Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament, driving children to Shriner's Hospital, and of course attending his lodge meetings with his favorite eating buddies, Dick Bromley and Lyle McCullough. He was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Miller and a brother, Forrest Bias. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Doris Miller Bias; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ginny Bias of Barboursville, Vickie and Glen Stapleton of Ona; two grandchildren, Eddie Stapleton of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Erin Stapleton of Ona; one sister, Shirley Wicker of Annandale, Virginia; four brothers, Keith Bias of Hurricane, Owen and Kelly Bias both of Milton, and Charles Bias of Florida. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangments.

Cecily Nicole Blackwell
Cecily Nicole Blackwell, 10, of Huntington, died Monday, November 8, 1999, in Huntington. She was a student at Pea Ridge Elementary School. Survivors include her father, Carl Adkins Jr.; her stepfather, Eric Shawn Thompson; grandmother, Dixie Thompson Blackwell of Huntington; and three brothers, Brandon Lee Adkins, Anthony Scott Adkins and Eric Shawn Thompson II. Funeral Saturday, November 13, 1999 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock.

Dixie Thompson Blackwell
Dixie Thompson Blackwell, 59, of Huntington, formerly of Olney, IN., died Sunday, November 14, 1999 at home. Survivors include three sons, Robert Lee Blackwell of Altizer, Harold William Blackwell of Roanoke, Va, and Linzie Shane Blackwell of Goldsboro, N.C.; one daughter, Carla Sue Johnson of Huntington; and two brothers, William “Bill” Thompson of Chicago, Ill. and Harold “Sonny” Thompson of Lawrenceville, Ill. Funeral Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at Milton Funeral Home, Milton; burial in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock.

Gladys Barnett
Mrs. Gladys Barnett, age 87, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, October 31st, 1999 at her son’s residence. Funeral services were held at 2 PM Tuesday at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Roderick Barnett officiating@ Burial in Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born December 27,1911 in Portsmouth, OH., a daughter of the late Bert and Maggie Bostic Fannin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles 0. Barnett and a brother, William Raymond Fannin. Gladys was a member of the former St. Luke United Methodist Church, a member of the Huntington Women’s Club and a member of the first Contact group. She is survived by one son, Charles R. Barnett and his wife, Mary Lynn of Huntington; one daughter, Bonne Ruth Phillips and her husband, Dr. Robert L.. of Lubbock, Tx.; and by four grandchildren, Dr. Robert L. Phillips Jr., Elizabeth Brooke Phillips, C. Jason Barnett and Mark R. Barnett. The family would like to express their thanks to two special care givers, Virginia Roswall and Barbara Mullen

Charles Clay Bays, age 90, of Hurricane, W.Va., died Saturday, October 30, 1999, at his home. He was a retiree of Union Carbide and W.Va. Department of Highways, and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hurricane. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Fizer Bays. Also surviving are four sons, Russell, Carlos, Bernard and Keith Bays; three daughters, Carolyn Boster, Sharon Martin and Kathy Messinger, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services were held 11 a.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane with Rev. Walter Wade officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park in Milton, W.Va.

Della Bartram, 89, of Branchland, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 2,1999. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 5,1999 at the Bethlehem United Baptist Church by the Rev Truman Adkins and Rev. Vernon Perry. Burial in Eaves Cemetery She was born October 4,1909 in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Gordon and Mary Adkins. She was a member of Bethlehem United Baptist Church She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jupiter Bartram. She is survived by six daughters, Jewell Hammond of Huntington, Pearl Morrison of Troy, Ohio, Arlene Eaves of Branchland, Linda Eaves of Barboursville, Lois Spurlock and Frennis Eaves, both of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Ohlan Bartram of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Hazel Gue of Branchland, Olive Sickle and Mazel Eaves, both of Columbus; one brother, Cecil Adkins of Branchland; thirty-three grandchildren, several great and great-great-children Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Eloise Perry Beckett
Eloise Perry Beckett, 72, of Milton, WVa, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 18 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Millard Morrison officiating. Burial in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock. Eloise was born at Milton on March 2, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Okey B. and Rena Morrison Perry. Eloise was also preceded in death by a sister, Delores Charles and two brothers, Everett and Bobby Lee Perry. She was a member of Balls Gap Baptist Church, Milton, and a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Clythe C. Beckett; five children, George R. Beckett, Marcella Woodard and Darlene Crouch, all of Milton, Sue E. Hughes of South Carolina and Clyta Shaffer of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Patricia Ghearing and Evelyn Wall of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sharon Lewis of Salt Rock, Marlene Vititoe and Betty Bledsoe of Barboursville and Elsie Bias of Hurricane; six brothers, Marvin, Dennis and Earl Perry of Salt Rock, Keith Perry of Barboursville, Howard and Bill Perry of Huntington.

Timothy A. Boyles
Timothy A. Boyles, 40, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Charleston, died Sept. 7, 1999, after being swept away in the Savannah River during an Army training exercise, officials said. He was a lieutenant colonel stationed at Fort Bragg and commander of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Ariborne). Services were held Friday, September 17th at Poca High School gymnasium with Chaplain Gerald Bebber officiating. Burial in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Cacilia “Sally” Bush
Cacilia “Sally” Bush, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, Sept 2, 1999 at home. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Sept. 6, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel Barboursville. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born in Silesia, Germany. A former bookkeeper, then a homemaker. She was a member of the Highlawn Garden Club, Timberlake Garden Club, Ashland Oil Wives Club, East Pea Ridge Woman’s Club and Gourmet Club. She enjoyed baking and was recognized for her knowledge and love of house plants. Survived by her husband of 44 years, Merlin; son, Brendan Bush of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Erika Agusiobo and son-in-law Obiora Agusiobo and grandsons Michael Smith and Matthew Smith, all of Bowie, Md.; sisters Hedel Sange and Marlies Kolb of Munich, Germany; brothers Sepp Hubner of Straberg, Germany, and Alois Hubner of Neuss, Germany. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to TEAM for West Virginia Children at P.O. Box 1653, Huntington, WV 25717-1653. The family would like to thank their close friends and neighbors for their generosity and support during Sally’s illness.

David Lee “Pappy” Beckett
David Lee “Pappy” Beckett, 63, of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Billy Joe Maynard and Rev. Danny Ross. He was born Nov. 25, 1935 in Salt Rock, W.Va., a son of the late Robert Leonard and Gladys Ross Beckett. He was retired from Cabell Huntington Hospital, a member of the D.A.V., and also a member of the Howard P. Hall Post V.F.W. #1064, Huntington, and the American Legion #16, Huntington. He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Robert Beckett. He is survived by his wife, Myra Ruth “Brownie” Linville Beckett; one daughter, Donna Robin Beckett Lucas of Huntington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Caroline Beckett of Catlettsburg, Ky. and David Michael “Mike” and LaDonna Beckett of Huntington; two sisters, Joyce Johnson and Ruby McComas, both of Barboursville; one brother, Herman Beckett of Milton; grandchildren, Tammy Beckett and her husband, Harry Altenkirch, Stefanie Beckett, Vanessa Beckett, all of Geissen, Germany; Nathan Beckett and Mika Beckett of Huntington; Jessica Beckett and Courtney Beckett of Barboursville; Ashley Lucas and Keisha Lucas, both of Huntington stepgrandson, David Dale Lykins of Huntington; great-grandson, Leon Altenkirch of Geissen, Germany; special nephew, Leo McComas of Salt Rock, and special friends, Bill Bartlett of Huntington and John Salyers of Salt Rock; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James R. Burdette
Mr. James R. Burdette, 75, of Hurricane, W.Va, husband of Wanda Higginbotham Burdette, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston. Graveside services were conducted Friday, Aug. 27, 1999 at Brown Cemetery, Milton, with Evangelist Jim Baker officiating. He was born June 4, 1934 in Milton W.Va., a son of the late Clarence and Gertrude Swan Burdette. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired senior laboratory technician for Union Carbide. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Franklin Burdette, and one sister, Ruby Burdette. Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a son, David; a granddaughter, Brandi; a great grandson, Kevin; a niece, Linda; and a nephew, Carl. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Becky Anne Caldwell Black
God’s greatest gift and most precious blessing to her family, church and friends, BECKY ANNE CALDWELL BLACK, 49, of Milton, WV, went home to be with her heavenly father Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, after a short fight with cancer. She was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Charleston, W.Va. Becky’s faith, courage and loving spirit touched and blessed the lives of everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beautiful children, Brandon and Tara Black. She leaves behind loving family and friends. The beIoved husband of her life, Donald S. Black, Sr. of Milton. The joy of her life, her son, Donald “Dink” Black and his wife, Christina of Salt Rock and her daughter, Melissa “Missie” King and husband, David of Salt Rock. She has four beautiful grandchildren, whom she adored, Corey David King, Cassandra “Cassie” Hope King, William “Hunter” Black and Katelyn Marie Black. Her proud parents, Junior and Elizabeth Austin Caldwell of Milton and her in-laws, Alonzo and Jean Black of Ona. Her loving sister and brother, Mary Beth Kyle of Ocala, Fla., and Craig Lee Caldwell of Waxhaw, N.C. Her loving paternal grandfather, Okley Lee Caldwell of Dunbar, W.Va, and her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Austin of South Charleston. She had several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She also has some precious friends, Connie Sue Carter, Mike and Linda Vance. Becky was a member of Spirit of Victory Church, a homemaker and a high graduate of Milton High School. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 12, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Charles Vance officiating. Entombment in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va.

Dennis E. Burton
Dennis Eugene Burton, 50, of Temple Terrace, Fla., formerly of Milton and Huntington died Saturday, July 17, 1999 in Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida. Private services and burial in Shiloh Cemetery, Bland, Va. He was born November 11, 1948 in Bluefield, WV, a son of Anita Hart Gue of Titusville, Fla., and the late Wilburn P. Burton. He was a 1967 graduate of Milton High School and a 1976 graduate of Marshall University. He was an accountant and a U.S. Air Force veteran. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Tara and Lisa Burton and their mother, Anita M. Burton, all of Barboursville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Pam and Farley Cash of Barboursville and Mrs. Brenda and Gary Roberts of Titusville; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Debbie Clarke of Temple Terrace; one grandson, Tristan Ellingston; and his step-father, Hurston U. Gue of Huntington. Henson Mortuary, Pea Ridge, was in charge of arrangements.

Janey Elouise Henderson Bryan
Janey Elouise Henderson Bryan, 67, of Huntington, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 2, 1999, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Joe Chapman. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born March 3, 1932, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Clayton and Inez Burns Henderson. She was retired from Huntington Manufacturing. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Russell, Johnny, Jimmy, Pete, and Howard Henderson. She is survived by her husband, Dennis F. Bryan: four daughters, Sandra Walker of Prichard, Patricia Davis, Loretta Stollings, and Brenda Rider, all of Milton; one stepson, Jackie Bryan of Culloden: one sister, Delores Chapman of Huntington; two brothers, Norman Henderson and Eddie Henderson, both of Huntington; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Edward Glenn Beckett
Edward Glenn Beckett, 55, of Salt Rock, WV, passed away Saturday, June 19, 1999, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Junior Hughes, and Rev. Jackie Walker. Burial in Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock. He was born September 3, 1943, a son of Thelma Childers Beckett, of Salt Rock, and the late Lonnie Beckett. He was retired from CSX with 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold “Tom” Beckett, and Darrell “Bub” Beckett. Survivors include two daughters, Demeda Cooper of Barboursville and Angie Treadway of Sodd, WV; one son, Eddie Beckett of Huntington; one sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Denzil Childers of Barboursville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Beckett of Barboursville, Larry and Sue Beckett, Bernard and Kathy, and Pat and Donna Beckett, all of Salt Rock, Nila Jean Beckett of Barboursville, and Delores Beckett of Salt Rock; five grandchildren, Alisha, Joseph, Shayna, Jeremy, and Tabitha; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bernard Hightower, Roger Brewster, Gary Bias, Robert Gibson, Butch Harless, Kenny Ross, Thomas Bailey and Alfred Harshbarger.

BERTHA VIOLET BECKELHEIMER
Bertha Violet Beckelheimer, 67, of Barboursville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 2, 1999. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at noon at Gethsemane United Baptist Church by the Rev. Sherwood Thompson and Rev. A.J. Perry. Burial in Eplin Family Cemetery, East Lynn. She was born February 3, 1932, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Elmer and Emma Jane Hager Eplin. She was a homemaker, wonderful mother, and a member of Gethsemane United Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Ted Beckelheimer; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Gary Adkins of East Lynn; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Debbie Beckelheimer of Barboursville, John Beckelheimer and Brenda Noel of Barboursville, Gerald and Sandy Beckelheimer of South Point, Ohio; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. A special thanks to Nada and Charles Adkins of Branchland.

Georgia G. Black
Mrs. Georgia G. Black, 90, of Milton, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at her home. Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 25 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Charles Elkins officiating. Burial in Milton Cemetery. Georgia was born in Lincoln Co. on July 18, 1908. She was a daughter of the late John Benjamin and Pearl J. Cummings Lewis. Georgia was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rosemary Black and on Dec. 24, 1961, by her husband, Warren Franklin Black. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Milton and a homemaker. Georgia is survived by one son, Donald W. Black of Barboursville; four grandsons, Donald A. Black of Huntington, Charles M. Black of Manassas, VA, Mark D. Black of Edgewater, FL, and Jeffery A. Black of Alderson, WV; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Leadmon and Verna Fincham; one brother, James G. Lewis and a special caregiver, Rose Ragland all of Milton.

Jimmie Franklin Black
Jimmie Franklin Black, age 61, of Hurricane, WV, died June 24, 1999, from injuries received from an aircraft accident. He was a lifelong resident of Hurricane, a member of HHS class of ’57, co-owner and operator of Black’s Sunoco, Hurricane, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Hurricane. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Smith Black; two sons, James Robert Black and Joseph A. Black, both of Hurricane; two daughters, Lisa Craddock and Jaclyn Black, both of Hurricane; his father, Frankie Black of Hurricane; one brother, Jackie Black of Hurricane; and three grandchildren, Jenna Craddock, Ryan Craddock and Jimmie Franklin Black, all of Hurricane.
Funeral service were held Saturday, June 26, 1999 at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church with ministers the Rev. Paul Spence, the Rev. Jack Fellure and Mr. Jim McGehee. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Wesley Bundy
Ronald Wesley Bundy, 58, of Huntington, passed away Monday, June 21, 1999, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 24, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. David Dillon. Burial in Baylous Cemetery. He was born July 29, 1940 in Cabell County, a son of Evelyn Esque Bundy Bowden of Lesage. He was a former employee of Ferguson Brothers Company. He is also survived by his wife, Joan Nicely Bundy; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Heath Wooten of Wayne; two sons, Ronald “Tink” Bundy, Jr. and Patrick Shawn Bundy, both of Huntington; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dorcas “Janie” Hopkins of South Carolina, Clara and Kenneth Adkins of Lesage; one brother, James “Red” Bundy of Huntington; and two special grandsons, Cameron Wooten and Kaleb Bundy. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

HERBERT OWEN "OOGIE" BURTON
Herbert Owen "Oogie" Burton, 58, of Barboursville, passed away Monday, April 12, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital. Services were conducted April 15, 1999 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born Aug. 9, 1940 in Huntington, a son of the late Thomas Herbert and Carrie Pressley Burton. He was a member of Twentieth Street Baptist Church and he attended Cox's Landing United Methodist Church, Lesage. He was retired from Inco Alloys with thirty-two years of service and was a member of the Inco Quarter Century Club. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis White Burton; two aunts, Myrtle McKenzie of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Belva Wheeler of Xenia, Ohio; and one uncle, Linzy Pressley of Butler, Ind.; additional survivors include two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law and their children, Sheila (Gary) Plumley and children, Kimberly (Drew) Varnum and Jake Chisler; Deborah (Don) Hoff; Ross (Marla) White and children, Scott White, Candy White, Cassandra (Pete) McClung and Hop (Nikki) White; Gary (Linda) White and children, Garrett White, Kelly Carlton, Shelly West, and Sherry Williams, and many cousins. Pallbearers were Richard Wheeler, Mike Wheeler, Junior Adkins, Jack Yeager, Paul Adams, Larry Litz, Rob Blake, and Gene Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Johnson, Darrell VanHoose, Clyde Beal and Donnie Chapman. Donations to Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington, WV, would be appreciated.

NINA MORTON BAILEY
Nina Morton Bailey, 90, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away April 6, 1999 at home. Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 9, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville by Rev. Caudle Adkins. Graveside services were conducted at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, W.Va. She was born April 17, 1908 in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late George and Emma Winton Morton. She was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Freer Bailey; two sons, Ralph and Fred Bailey. She is survived by four daughters, Edna M. Bailey of West Palm Beach, Fla., Phyllis Price of Ona, W.Va., Marcella Blevins and Linda Barker, both of Chesapeake, Ohio; five sons, Gernie Bailey of Chapmanville, W.Va., Monroe Bailey of Madison, W.Va., Kyle Bailey of Ackworth, Ga., Jimmy Bailey of Dalzelle, S.C., and Mac Bailey of Lakeworth, Fla.; thirty-four grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gary Hale, Kevin Bailey, Ed Blevins, Michael Bailey, Rick Marcello, David Barker, David Bailey, and Matthew Barker. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

ANNA VIRGINIA BIAS
Mrs. Anna Virginia Bias, 86, of Ona, WV, formerly of West Hamlin passed away Saturday, April 17, 1999 in Mariner Health of Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 20 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Winford Curry officiating. Burial in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock. Anna was born in Lincoln Co. on June 11, 1912. She was a daughter of the late Martin and Ida Reynolds McCallister. Anna was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bias and by three sons, James, Bernard and Leo Bias. She was a member of Portersville Baptist Church, West Hamlin and a former employee of the Lincoln Co. Board of Education. Anna is survived by two daughters, Betty Jo McClanahan of Huntington and Geraldine Sheppard of Clearwater, FL; one son, Vermal Bias of Ona; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one brother, Rush McCallister of Salt Rock.
