Edmund B. Campbell
Edmund B. Campbell, 37, of Hurricane died January 11, 2001, at home after a long illness.
He was a former employee of Iron Works Fabrication, Cross Lanes, and Hurricane Exxon. He was a member of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, Hurricane, Eastern Star Chapter 70, St. Albans, Masonic Lodge 139, Hurricane, Royal Arch Masons Chapter 51, Knights Templar Commandery 9, Huntington, and the Good Sams Camping Club. He was a lifelong resident of Hurricane.
Surviving: father, Bruce of Hurricane; brother, Patrick of Hurricane; niece, Angela Michelle Campbell of Germany.
Service was held Saturday, January 13, 2001, at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Thompson and Jim McGehee officiating. Burial with Masonic rites by Lodge 139 was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.

Lillia Marie Goddard
Lillia Marie Parsons Goddard, 76, of Red House died January 14, 2001, at Putnam General Hospital following a long illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County, a homemaker and attended Shiloah Church, Red House, and the Hometown Church of God Mission.
Surviving: husband, Rollie Clayton Goddard; daughters, Dolores Barnett of Columbus, Ohio and Janet Goddard of Red House; sons, Bill Goddard and Roger Goddard, both of Red House; sister, Lura Cook of Eleanor; brothers, Cecil Parsons and Alfred Parsons, both of Red House, and Arthur Parsons of Poca; five grandchildren.
Service was held Wednesday, January 17, 2001, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Arles Covert and the Rev. Larry Covert officiating. Burial was in Shiloah Cemetery, Red House.

Ida Gail Allison
Ida Gail Allison, 92, of Winfield died January 12, 2001, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
She was a member of Church of Christ Scientist, St. Albans, and attended Judson Baptist Church, Winfield. She was retired from the financial division of the state Tax Department with 20 years' service. She was a former employee of Calvin Broyles Jewelers, South Charlston, and was a member of Montrose Rebekah Lodge 287 and Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving: son, Joseph W. Allison II of Winfield; sisters, Naomi Hutson of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mona Joy Presley, Pearl Gutherie and Beulah King, all of Charleston, and Moskie Burford of Lauderhill, Florida; brother, Robert Parsons of St. Albans; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchuildren.
Service was held Monday, January 15, 2001, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. Fred McCallister officiating. Entombment was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Memorial donations may be made to Judson Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

Eva F. Paul
Eva F. Paul, 77, of St. Albans, formerly of Hurricane, died January 13, 2001, in SunBridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hurricane, after a short illness.
She was a Protestant, a homemaker and a resident of St. Albans since 1992.
Surviving: sons, Cecil Paul of Culloden and Noah Paul of St. Albans; sister, Amy Womack of Hurricane; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Service was held Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with the Rev. Paul Baldwin and the Rev. John Duffy officiating. Burial was in Ellis Cemetery, Hurricane.

Emma Jean Francis Egnor Toler Bias
Emma Jean Frances Egnor Toler Bias, 61, of Huntington W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the home of her son. Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 5, 2001 at Henson Mortuary, Pea Ridge, with the Rev. Charles Spencer officiating. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. She was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Stollings, W.Va., daughter of the late Egbert D. and Gladys M. Browning Egnor. She was a homemaker, and a member of The House of Prayer. Survivors include her husband David G. Bias; one son and daughter-in-law, David Michael and Darlene Toler of Barboursville, WV; two sisters, Joann Brothers of Nitro, W.Va., and Linda Belcher of Huntington, W.Va.; five brothers, Billy Egnor of Marshall, Mich., Roger Egnor of Madison, Ky., Richard Egnor of Claypool, W.Va., and Roger Egnor and Bobby Egnor, both of Huntington, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Lori Toler of Barboursville, W.Va.; six nieces; 11 nephews and a host of Christian brothers and sisters.

Goldie Ferguson
Goldie Ferguson, 78, of Barboursville, passed away from this life into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, after several mini-strokes and a massive cerebral hemorrhage on Dec. 10, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Ray Adkins. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born March 28, 1922, in Beech Fork, a daughter of the late Rard and Effie Adkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Ferguson. She was retired from General Motors and was a member of Heritage Freewill Baptist Church in Taylor, Mich. She leaves behind two children, A. Lee Shepard and his wife, Sue, of Taylor, Mich., and Barbara Shepard of Barboursville, with whom she made her home; a brother, Mack Adkins and his wife, Goldie, of Beech Fork; five grandchildren, Penny Johnson and her husband, Robert, of McKean, Pa., Duane Blankenship of Ward, Colo., Vicki Paul, Carol Ferdinand and her husband, George, both of Lincoln Park, Mich., Joseph Shepard and his wife, Susan, of Southgate, Mich.; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany and Curtis Paul of Lincoln Park, Mich., Jacob Shepard of Southgate, Mich., and Matthew and Melissa Johnson of McKean, Pa.; an ex-son-in-law, Ernie Blankenship of Magnolia, Texas; a special nephew, Tim Adkins and his wife, Myra, and children, Jason, Heather and Alberta, all of Beech Fork, who shared her care with daughter, Barbara; one sister-in-law by marriage, Dorothy Ferguson; a special niece by marriage, Shirley Ramsey; two other nephews, Mackie Adkins and his wife, Teressa, and children Kevin and Kristin of Detroit, Mich., and Ronald Adkins and son, Eric, of Fredricksburg, Va.;
several nieces and nephews by marriage, most all of in Michigan; a few cousins here in West Virginia; six faithful cousins, Ella Bartram of Barboursville, Girard Adkins of Carlton, Mich., Kathleen Spicer of Grass Lake, Mich., Gloria Hicky of New Boston, Mich., Kathy Eaves of Salt Rock and Rard Adkins of Beech Fork; and a loyal friend, Mrs. Ida Adkins of Beech Fork. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Ronald K. Adkins, Tim Adkins, Jason Rose, Rard Adkins, Robert Johnson, Eric Adkins and George Ferdinand.

Charlotte Muldoon Sullivan
Charlotte Muldoon Sullivan, 91, of Milton, widow of Bernard Wilson Sullivan, died Sunday, December 31, 2000, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at Milton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Keith Leap officiating. Burial in Milton Cemetery. She was born November 25, 1909, in Shepherdstown, WV, a daughter of the late John Dement Muldoon and Elba Hoffman Muldoon. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Gertrude Muldoon Tibbets and Roberta Muldoon Haeberle, and her brothers, Jack Muldoon and Dr. Frank Muldoon. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Ann Sullivan Poissot, and Calvin of Arlington, VA, Burr Wilson Sullivan and Rebecca, of Lexington, NC, and Charles Muldoon Sullivan, and Rainelyn of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren, John Hampton Sullivan of Raleigh, NC, Calvin Rivers Sullivan of Charlotte, NC, and Burr Wilson Sullivan, Jr. of Annapolis, MD. She had a close and loving relationship with her two nieces and five nephews, as well as her 19 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Charlotte Sullivan was a career teacher who graduated from Marshall University and Columbia University. She taught for two years at Cottageville, WV, and then transferred to the Grant District School in Cabell County in 1930. She taught various subjects in her 35-year teaching career but mainly concentrated on history and social studies. She was active in various educational associations in Cabell County and West Virginia and was also a longtime member of Twentieth Century Club and the Milton Garden Club. She was an active member of the Milton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Lodge 149 and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements. The family requested that memorials be directed to the Milton United Methodist Church or the Milton Branch of the Cabell County Library.

Agnes Hicks
Agnes Hicks, 84, of Lexington Ky., formerly of Milton, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Milton. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 1, 2001, at Henson Mortuary, Pea Ridge, with Dr. Jerry Warren officiating. Burial in Bias Chapel Cemetery in Milton. Mrs. Hicks was born April 4, 1916, in Cabell County, the daughter of the late Emerson and Quinnie Edmonds Glover. She was a retired housekeeping supervisor from Barboursville State Hospital and a member of.Bias Chapel E.U.B. Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hicks. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Alpha Pritchard and Calvin Knott of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Alpha Nelson of Huntington and Arbutus Wooten of Hollywood, Fla.; one grandson, Mike Pritchard and his wife, Stephanie, of Houston; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brittany Pritchard. Pallbearers were members of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Lillian Kathleen Bledsoe
Lillian Kathleen Bledsoe, 88, of Barboursville, died Sunday, December 31, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Antioch Baptist Church, Ona, with Pastor Bill Davis and Minister Pete Davidson officiating. Burial in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock. She was born February 9, 1912, in Mason Co., WV, a daughter of the late Eurius “Shorty” and Bernice Meadows. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Haskell Bledsoe, who died on July 20, 1966, and her son, John A. Bledsoe. She was a homemaker for her children, Paul Bledsoe of Sudbury, MA, Kathleen Ayers of Barboursville, Donna Tice of San Luis Obispo, CA, Keith Bledsoe of Ona, Jay Bledsoe, living at home, Sally Chapman of Milton, Linda Stratton and Darrell Bledsoe, both of Barboursville; 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Gaynell Hayes Ramsey
Gaynell Hayes Ramsey, 65, of Barboursville, widow of Vernon E. Ramsey, died Sunday, December 31, 2000 in St. Mary’s Hospital. She was retired from Lowe’s. Survivors include two brothers, Roger Dale Hayes of Clinton Township, Mich., and Vernon R. Hayes of Huntington. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 4, 2001, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Annie Eplin
Annie Eplin, 76, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 30, 2000. Funeral service were conducted Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at Bethlehem United Baptist Church of which she was a member, by the Rev. Larry Perry and Homer Adkins. Burial in Eaves Cemetery. She was born January 4, 1924, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late William and Fannie Robertson Eaves. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Haskel Eplin; one daughter, Irene Eplin; one sister, Ethel Walker, and two brothers, Jake Eaves and Frank Eaves. She is survived by seven children, Charlene Pierce of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda Hammond and Pauline Cornell both of Barboursville, Hobert Eplin of Proctorville, Ohio, Edith Estep of Huntington and Delbert Eplin and Kenney Eplin, both of Branchland; one sister, Effie Adkins of Beech Fork, WV; two brothers, Oakley Eaves of Branchland, and Ralzie Eaves of Columbus, OH; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; a special friend, Gracie Adkins of Branchland and a host of friends and relatives. FWallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Cabell Huntington Home Health with a special thanks to B.J. Childers, Stephanie Wells, Dr. Thomas Dannals, and the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for the support and care of their mommy.

Charles Roger McClellan
Charles Roger McClellan, 45, of Culloden, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2000 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at Forest Memorial Park, Milton with Rev. George Surgeon officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. He was born in Huntington, WV on August 12, 1955, a son of the late Charles McClellan and Stella Lester McClellan Holley of Glenwood. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Bob Holley. He was a mechanic for Kenova RV. He was a United States Army veteran. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda McClellan; two sons, Ernest McClellan of Milton and Roger McClellan of Culloden; one daughter, Misti Terry of Milton; grandmother, Lucinda Lester of Barboursville; one brother, Ronnie McClellan of Milton; six sisters, Charlotte Blake of Culloden, Ethel Gibson and Lena Hedrick both of Huntington, Violet Davis of Point Pleasant, Tennessee Glover of Milton, and Mary Ann Meade of Proctorville, OH; five grandchildren, Tabatha and Michaela Terry, Ernest, Jr., Alex, and Tobie McClellan. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Leona Jane Gothard Stewart
Leona Jane Gothard Stewart, 78, of Barboursville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 4, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 6, 2001 at Elmwood Baptist Church by Pastor Rick Glass. Burial in Highland Cemetery. She was born August 24, 1922, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Eura and Rosa Pearl Wallace Gothard. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Lyle Gothard. She was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church and was on the board of directors of the Huntington Women’s Bowling Assoication, and was made a permanent member. She is survived by her husband, Lester “Babe” Stewart; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cecilia and Ron Scarbro of Athens, W.Va., and Patricia and Kim Harper of Danville, W.Va.; a twin, Lenora Linville and her husband John, and sister Elene Spurlock and her husband Frank, all of Barboursville; one brother, Lewis Gothard of Barboursville; a brother-in-law, C.E. “Finner” Stewart of Barboursville; six grandchildren, Jason, Michael and Jill Scarbro, Kristina Harper Setzer and her husband Robert, Stewart and Kevin Harper; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Grace Setzer, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Elmwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 3045 Martha Road, Barboursville, WV 25504.

Clara Mae Dunlavy
Clara Mae Dunlavy, 92, of Milton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2001, in Columbia Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 6, 2001, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Milton Cemetery. Clara was born December 12, 1908, in Lincoln County, W.Va, a daughter of the late James and Annie Belle Morris Hicks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Dunlavy, and brother Baxter R. Hicks. She was a bookkeeper for Morris Memorial Nursing Home and for Dr. William Burt. She was a member of the Milton Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Milton Woman’s Club and the Milton Garden Club. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Flora Belle and Richard Bias of Milton; one son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Marada Dunlavy of Portland, Ind.; four grandchildren, Brent Bias, Scott Bias, Jimmy Dunlavy and Tonya Hammers; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Wallace “Bill” Caroll Mayes
Wallace “Bill” Caroll Mayes, 85, of Milton passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2001, in Teays Valley Center, Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 6, 2001, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Richard Black and the Rev. Keith Leap officiating. Burial in Pete Meadows Cemetery, Glenwood. He was born April 13, 1915, in Mason County, W.Va, a son of the late Boley and Sadie Wallace Mayes. He was also preceded by his wife, Dovie. He was a bus driver for Mason County Schools. He attended Milton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Orpha Ball Mayes; one daughter, Betty and Richard Hatfield of Huntington; one son, Ralph Lloyd and Emma Jo Mayes of Barboursville; two stepdaughters, Joyce and Carroll Ray of Barboursville and Sheila and Phillip Chapman of Huntington; one stepson, Ronald and Julie Sullivan of Milton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Charles E. “Red” Flora
Charles E. “Red” Flora, 66, of Glenwood, widower of Wilma Young Flora, died Tuesday, January 2, 2001, in Sandusky, Ohio. He was a retired mechanic for the former McComas Exxon in Huntington. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Chapman of Norwalk, Ohio, and Nellie Badillo of Sunnydale, Calif.; and two sons, Michael Flora of Glenwood and Charles Flora of Lesage. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 6, 2001 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington; burial in Beale Chapel Cemetery.

Orval Brooks
Orval Brooks, 74, of Hartford City, Ind., formerly of Huntington, died January 2, 2001, in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Ind. Funeral service were conducted Saturday, January 6, 2001, at Henson Mortuary with Minister Amos Prince. Burial in Dock’s Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Mr. Brooks was born May 23, 1926, in Wayne County, W.Va., and worked in glass manufacturing for 43 years. He was a member of Eaton United Methodist Church in Eaton, Ind. Preceding him in death were one son Dennis Allen Brooks, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Wight Brooks; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Sharon Brooks of Shideler, Ind. and Gregory and Patricia Brooks of Frederick Md.; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Harvey Napier of Kenova; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harmen and Karen Brooks of Medina, Ohio, Burnice and Norma Brooks of Kenton, Ohio, and Fain Brooks of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Lynn, Justin, Bryan, Jonathan, Stacia, Sarah and David Brooks, and three great-grandchildren, Raven, Brandon and Marcus Allen Brooks.

Nora Lee Thompson
Nora Lee Thompson, of Ceredo, formerly of Barboursville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 6, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Rick Glass and Pastor Rodney Hale. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born February 6, 1915 in Mingo county, a daughter of the late James and Arisba White Aldridge. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Archie Thompson; one son, Charles Homer Thompson: one sister, Rachel Aldridge; four brothers, Albert, Marian, Johnny and Warren G. Aldridge; three granddaughters and one great-grandchild. She attended Logan High School and completed 11-1/2 years. She was a retired practical nurse and was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church, the Ladies Bible Class and the Barboursville Senior Citizens. She most recently attended First Baptist Church of Ceredo and was a member of the 5W class. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Gertrude Thompson of Marengo, Ohio; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Lonnie Ellis of Bristol, Tennessee, Morine and Grant Hayden of Huntington, Linda and David Morrison of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Arisba and Stanley Fink of Ceredo, with whom she made her home; one special daughter-in-law, Violet Thompson of Dingess, WV; one sister, Roxie Feese of Barboursville; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude to St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Dept., Ceredo Fire and Rescue, Lincare Services, Preferred Home Health and most of all Karen Williamson, her caregiver, who gave her the very best in home health care.

Flora P. Hawthorne
Flora P. Hawthorne, 88, of Huntington, passed away Friday, January 5, 2001, at the Teays Valley Center, Hurricane, WV. Graveside rites were conducted Monday, January 8, 2001 at the Ridgelawn Memorial Park Abbey of Devotion by Rev. David Clark. Burial followed. She was born January 27, 1912 in Chesapeake, Ohio, daughter of the late Henry and Eva Henson Bone. She was a homemaker and member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. “Buddy” Hawthorne; one brother, Irvin Bone; and three sisters, Helen Kemp, Hope Clark and Ruby Ellis. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Mary Hawthorne of Huntington, and Jerry and Bobbie Hawthorne of Milton, WV; five grandchildren, Jacky White, Cynthia Patterson, David Hawthorne, Timothy Hawthorne and Alan Hawthorne; ten great-grandchildren, Amber Coffey, Anthony Coffey, Drew Hawthorne, Nathan Hawthorne, Kelly Patterson, Courtney Patterson, Danay Hawthorne, Robyn Williams, Kathy White and Nikki White; four great-great-grandchildren, Jada Cox, Ashlee Cox, Chloe Coffey and Reanna Williams and a sister, Henryetta Soderberg of Daytona Beach, Florida. Reger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Marcelene Jude MacClellan
Mary Marcelene Jude MacClellan, 72, of Huntington, W.Va, died Saturday, January 6, 2001, at her residence. A memorial service for Marcy, to honor her life-long desire to help others by which she has chosen to donate her body for medical research to the Marshall School of Medicine, were conducted Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, 5385 West Pea Ridge Rd., Huntington, W.Va., by Dr. David B. Lemming. Marcy was born September 15, 1928 in Dingess, W.Va, a daughter of the late Edmond and Zella Amburgey Jude. She received her master’s degree plus an additional 45 hours from Marshall University and was a retired school teacher from the Cabell County school system, with 20 years of service. She also had 20 years of public service with the Mingo County government. Survivors include a son, Russell Edmond MacClellan and his wife, Nancy, of Ona, W.Va.; a daughter, Mary Alice MacClellan of Huntington, WV; and a son, Dean Smith of South Lyon Michigan. She is also survived by a sister, Reba McCloud of Branchland, WV; two brothers, Leo Jude and his wife, Gay, of Barboursville, W.Va., and Walter Jude and his wife, Evelyn, of Williamson, WV; and special friends, George and Maggie Keopfer. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the sixth floor, unit three oncology nursing staff, of St. Mary’s Hospital. Kathleen Bledsoe Ayers
Kathleen Bledsoe Ayers, of Ona, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2001, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 8, 2001, at Antioch Baptist Church, Newman’s Chapel, Ona, with Pastor Leo Skaggs officiating. Entombment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born in Ona, WV, a daughter of the late Allen Haskell and Lillian Kathleen Bledsoe. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John and Dewey Bledsoe. She was a member of the First Guyandotte Baptist Church, Huntington. She was a meat processor for B and B Food Market. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Harold E. Ayers, Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Harold Edward and Laloni Ayers, Jr. of Pt. Pleasant; Dr. David and “BJ” Ayers of Ona; four brothers, Paul Bledsoe of Sudbury, MA, Keith Bledsoe and Jay Bledsoe, both of Ona, and C. Darrell Bledsoe of Barboursville; three sisters, Sally Jean Chapman of Milton, Donna Hope Tice of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Linda Stratton of Barboursville; and four granddaughters, Kathleen Faith Ayers, Hannah Grace Ayers, Rachel Aileen Ayers and Faith Elizabeth Ayers. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the First Guyandotte Baptist Church, 219 Richmond St., Huntington, WV 25702. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of the arrangements.

Myrtle Louise Adkins
Myrtle Louise Adkins, 69, of Barboursville, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2001, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Heron Adkins. Burial in Bowen Cemetery. She was born April 22, 1931 in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Rebecca “Reba” Adkins. She was also preceded in death by an infant son and a sister, Bernice Ferguson. She is survived by her loving partner of over fifty years, Forney E. Adkins; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Wanda and Charles Adkins of East Lynn, WV, Judy and Mervin Johnson of Wayne, WV, Donna and Dwain Sloane of Huntington, Retha and Frank Sabado of Kearneysville, WV, and Diana Bonds of Aberdeen, Maryland. She leaves behind seven loving grandchildren, Mervin Dale Johnson and Kristi Johnson of Wayne, WV, Pam Adkins and Bobby Adkins of East Lynn, WV, Eric Jenkins of Elkton, Virginia, Joshua Sloane of Huntington, and Linzie Bonds of Aberdeen, Maryland. She is also survived by one sister, Belvie Nicely, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Tudy Adkins and Charlie and Joyce Adkins; four half sisters and brothers-in-law, Alberta and Hughie Adkins, Carolyn and Hannable Adkins, Inez Mays Adkins and Linda Adkins; one half brother, Audie Adkins, Jr.; and a special aunt, Daisy Wellman. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank everyone at Cabell-Huntington Hospital for the care they provided with a very special thanks to the dialysis staff.

Roger Dale Lawson
Roger Dale Lawson, 53, of Charleston, formerly of Ona, partner of William Arnold, died Saturday, January 6, 2001, in Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, Ill. He was a hairstylist. Also surviving are two brothers, Walter Lawson of Ona and Billy Lawson of Texas; and two sisters, Darlis Stutler of Huntington and Dixie Daniels of Barboursville. Henson Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Thelmer Robertson
The Rev. Thelmer Robertson, 68, of Myrtle Beach, S.C, formerly of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with his Lord December 26, 2000. He was born January 2, 1932, in Wayne County, W.Va, son of “Mamaw” Mary Damron Robertson the late “Papaw” Ralph Robertson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Elmer Robertson. He was a member and former pastor of First Altizer Freewill Baptist Church. He attended Socastee Originial Freewill Baptist Church. Brother Thelmer was a retired insulator, where he worked on several power plants and many factories. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Sullivan Robertson; one son, Rodney Robertson and his wife Kim; one daughter Lisa Wilson and her husband Rodney; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn “Slats” and Bonnie Sue Robertson and Bill and Jean Robertson; three sisters, Blanche Ward, Glenna Chin and her husband Bayliss and Gay Ward and her husband Dick; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, Misty, Justin, Andrea and Mark; several nieces and nephews; and a great host of friends and loved ones. A memorial service was held Sunday, January 7, 2001, at First Altizer Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Ramey, the Rev. Carl Lilly and the Rev. Ray Williamson officiating.

William Raymond Vossler
William Raymond Vossler, 79, of Washington Court House, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2001, in Fayette Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Entombment in Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance, Huntington. He was born June 10, 1921, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond and Viola Edminston Vossler. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Elizabeth Vossler, who went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 1999. William was owner of Allegheney Fire and Equipment. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He was also a member of the Masonic Minerva Lodge #13, Barboursville. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Pegi L. Shriver of California and Dorothy R. Vossler and Robert Blankenship of Washington Court House, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey T. and Charlotte Vossler of Hillsboro, Ohio; one sister, Ruth Espel of Cincinnati, Ohio; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Justin Vossler, Jason Vossler, Jared Grodt, David Espel and Bob Blankenship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Willie Meade
Willie Meade, 88, of Huntington died Thursday, January 4, 2001 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 7, 2001, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Charles Norris. Burial in Bias Chapel Cemetery. He was born August 21, 1912, in Logan, W.Va, a son of the late Samuel and Kentucky Meade. He was a retired coal miner. He was the beloved father of Roscoe Meade and his wife Melissa Samples of Huntington, Carolyn Sparks and her husband Jim of Kentucky, Sharon Hatfield and her husband Ted of Branchland, Gloria Gillispie and her husband Jerry of Cleveland, Ohio, Hester McCormick and her husband Frank of Ironton, Ohio, Willie D. Meade and Johnny Meade, both of Huntington, Mary Preece and her husband James and Rose Webb and her husband Ronald, all of Genoa, Wayne County; one sister, Pearl Evans of Danville, W.Va.; 34 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.

Jack Allen Wentz
Jack Allen Wentz, 75, of Vienna, WV, formerly of Huntington, died Thursday, January 4, 2001, after an extended stay at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel followed by a graveside service at Woodmere Memorial Park with the Rev. Monty Brown officiating. He was born July 23, 1925, in Huntington W.Va., a son of the late A. Boyd and Opal Marie Dunkle Wentz of Huntington. He was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Allen Wentz. Mr. Wentz was retired from the Internal Revenue Service. He was a Marshall University graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in the Mediterranean during World War II, surviving the sinking of his ship, the destroyer Bristol. He attained the 32nd degree in the Masonic Order and was a member of Western Star Lodge #11 AF&AM, the Beni Kedem Shriners Temple in Charleston and an honorary member of Nemesis Temple, Parkersburg. He is survived by his wife, Erma L Anderson Wentz; four daughters, Cathy and Charles Conrad of Hendersonville, Tenn, Jane and Monty Brown of Barboursville, W.Va., Trudy and John Altman of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Amy and Tim Roberts of Vienna, W.Va.; one sister, Barbara Weaver of Huntington; eight grandchildren; and one niece.

Evelyn Deloris Trisler Morris
Evelyn Deloris Trisler Morris, 66, of Huntington passed away Thursday, January 4, 2001, at her residence. She was born December 29, 1934, in Mason County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Morton and Madie Mae Legg Trisler. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Kermit Trisler; and two sisters, Violet Smith and Mabel Trisler. She was a cook for Morris Memorial Nursing Home. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Cindy Morris of Milton; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and George Beckett of Milton; sister and brother-in-law, Constance and Jim Hester of Huntington; and three grandchildren Casandria Morris of Milton, George “Bobby” and Stephanie Beckett of Culloden and Angelea Beckett of Milton. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Anna Faye Spencer
Anna Faye Spencer, 64, of Ona went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2001, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 8, 2001, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Rick Brown and the Rev. Frank Brotherton officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born January 27, 1936, in Cabell County, W.Va, a daughter of the late Lowell and Neoma Edmonds Adams. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Adams. Anna Faye was a homemaker and a member of Cox Landing United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wetzel B. Spencer; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Spencer of Ona; four brothers, Herman Adams and David Adams, both of Ona, Charles Adams of Fredericksburg, Va., and Joe Adams of Lesage; three sisters, Pauline Ryder of Ona, Velva Thompson of Virginia and Christine Johnson of Buchannon, WV; one very loving granddaughter, Kari Spencer; niece and nephew, Jerry and Joyce Ryder; and one special aunt Neola Ball.

William H. Burdette
William H. Burdette, 80, of Hurricane died December 31, 2000, at home following a short illness.
He was retired from Union Carbide Corp., South Charleston, with 32 years’ service. He was a Protestant, an Army veteran of World War II, honor guard for the VFW post in Hurricane and a lifelong resident of Hurricane.
Surviving: daughters, Lois Olive of Noel, Missouri and Barbara Clagg of Hurricane; sons, Marvin Wayne Burdette of Reno, Nevada and Kevin Burdette of Pensacola, Florida; sisters, Kathleen Burdette of Culloden, Belma Finch of Hurricane and Blanche Hicks of Tampa, Florida; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Service was held Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Jim McGehee officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, with military graveside rites.

Rachel H. Black
Rachel Hodge Black, 68, of Hurricane died December 31, 2000, at home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Black, a son and two daughters.
Surviving: sons, Teddy Carroll Black, Delmer Darrell Black, Robert Bruce Black, Darrin Wayne Black, and Dwayne Scott Black, all of Hurricane; daughters, Betty Cowan and Lois Workman, both of Hurricane, Linda Mayes of Ashton, Wanda Chapman of Greenup, Kentucky, and Rachel Faye VanMatre of Letart; brother, William “Chuck” Hodge of Hurricane; sisters, Lucy Glenn and Mary Ethel Meadows, both of Milton, Jane Cantley of St. Albans, Lula Ann Meadows of Buffalo, and Ruth Angle of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Family graveside service was held Monday, January 1, 2001, with her grandson, Rev. Jason Carroll Black officiating. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby B. Balderson
Ruby B. Balderson, 90, of Scott Depot died December 31, 2000, in Putnam General Hospital.
She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Hurricane, and was a homemaker.
Surviving: sons, Phillip of Scott Depot and David of Apopka, Florida; daughter, Carolyn Rudolph of Apopka; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Service was held Friday, January 5, 2001, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Johnson officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane WV 25526.
