Of Cannon, KY was born there on November 27, 1912. He was a son of the late Newton Willis and Lizzie Chadwell Willis. Mr. Willis passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Knox County Hospital. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons, Randall (Bernice)Willis, David (Lavern) Willis, and Duane (Rosetta) Willis, all of Cannon, KY; two daughters, Anna Katherine(Ron) Madden, Gray Hawk, KY and Fayetta (Terry) Johnson, Cannon, KY; grandchildren, Darlinda Flatt, Sherie Caudill, Robin Parrott, Tonia Fisher, Vanessa Dudgeon, Rebecca Willis, Charles Willis, David Willis, Rhonda Thompson, Tabitha Burdine, Candy Knuckles, Tad Willis, Jonathan Madden and Michael Willis; 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Ethel Willis, Cannon, KY; and very dear friends, Billy and Lori Smith. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the Sinking Valley Baptist Church with Rev, DeWayne Smith and Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. Interment was in the Willis Cemetery in Cannon. Pallbearers were friends of the Willis family. Honorary Pallbearers were grandsons and granddaughters of Mr. Willis and caregivers, Tracy Smith, Jeanetta Smith, and Gina Gray. Russell Springs, Ky passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. He was an attendant at Louie B. Nunn Parkway and a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by one son, Jason Wilson, Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Max Wilson, Mt.Washington, KY; six sisters, Edith Wilson, Dean Wilson, Alice Lee, and Bonnie Franklin, all of Russell Springs, KY and Helen James, North Carolina. Funeral services were Thursday, January 23, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Roy and Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Interment was in the New Friendship Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Edwin Wisdom, 98,
Jamestown, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at his residence. He was the son of the late Tom and Mary Wisdom. Survivors include his wife, Millie Wisdom; three sons, Jack, Darris, and Teddy Wisdom, all of Louisville, KY; three daughters, Phyllis Lawless and Nadine Snow, both of Louisville, KY, and Ruth Conner, Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Wilbur Wisdom, Jamestown, KY; one sister, Roxie Eastham, Jamestown, KY; and 15 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Friday, August1, 2003 in the chapel of H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Greg Ryan officiating. Interment was in the Concord Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Wisdom, Brian Wisdom, Timmy Wisdom, Rodney Wisdom, Kenny Wisdom, and Jack Wisdom. H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Boyd Woodrow Wilson, 86,
Jamestown, KY passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and a member of the Jamestown Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Carnes Wilson and one daughter, M. Gail Wilson, both of Jamestown, KY. Funeral services were Saturday, January 4, 2003 in the chapel of H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Tony Stephens and Bro Bill Welker officiating. Interment was in the Jamestown Cemetery with the Jamestown Christian Church parking lot attendants serving as pallbearers. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Jamestown Christian Church Building Fund. H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Elbert Leslie Wilson, 79,
Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Russell County passed away Friday, March 7, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was the son of the late William Rossie and Mattie Ashbrook Wilson. His survivors include two daughters, Donna (William) Dalton and Patricia (James) Allen, both of Indianapolis, IN; one brother, Estil Wilson, Greensburg, KY; and five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Graveside services were Monday, March 10, 2003 at Humble Cemetery with Bro. Dewey Cooper officiating. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Emma Lois Wilson, 75,
Of the Webbs Crossroads Community, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2003 at the Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green. She is survived by one son, Jeffery W. Wilson, Russell Springs, Ky., one brother, R.C. Beane, Russell Springs, KY; two sisters, Mary Eunice Griffith, Vandalia, OH, Wathalene Neal, West Carrolton, OH; and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Adam Wilson. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Lehman officiating, interment was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Hansford Wilson, 71,
Russell Springs, KY, husband of Wanna B. Hale Wilson, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at his home. He was a former employee of West Side Coal and Lumber in Bloomington, IL and attended Liberty Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Wanna B., he is survived by three sons, Ed (Dawn) Wilson, Normal, IL, Darrell Robertson, and David (Betty) Hare, both of Jamestown, KY; five daughters, Donna (John) Rapp, Gridley, IL, Sherrie (Paul David) Coffey, Jamestown, KY, Sandra (Harold) Wiend, Russell Springs, KY, Danita Ritter, Columbia, KY and Karen (Carter) Renner, Mt. Vernon, KY; four brothers, Dean (Susan) Wilson, David (Sharon) Wilson, Orena, IL, Royce (Joyce) Wilson, Bloomington, IL, and Avery (Alana) Wilson, DeWitt, IL; two sisters, Agnes Schrepfer, and Shirley (Duke) Merrill,both of Clinton, IL; 24 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Friday, August 8, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Holloway officiating. Interment was in the Russell Springs, Memorial Gardens. Lola Jasper Wilson, 98,
Russell Springs, KY passed away Monday, June 23, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a retired Barber and a member of the Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church. Survivors include a niece, Nelda Age, Shepherdsville, KY; two nephews, Hollie Jasper, Russell Springs, KY and J.T. Winfrey, Anderson, IN, also surviving are several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Daryl Coe and Bro. Carroll Egnew officiating. Special music was provided by Heavenly Harmony. Interment was in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Jasper, Bobby Jasper, Ashley White, Larry Miller, Lonnie White, and Jamison Miller. R.V. Wilson, 79,
Radcliff, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. He was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, Glendale (Judy) Wilson, Radcliffe, KY; one sister, Lillian Grider, Russell Springs, KY; one grandson, Dale (Trish) Wilson, Glendale, KY; one great granddaughter, Kristen Wilson, Radcliffe, KY; and one niece and nephew also survive. Funeral services were Friday, May 2, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating. Special music was provided by Stephanie Foley. Passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Grove United Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Jamie Wilson, Russell Springs, KY; two daughters, Crystal Wilson and Quincy Gosser, both of Russell Springs, KY; four sisters, Liz Morrison, Winchester, IN, Naomi Wells and Ina Harris, both of Russell Springs, and Shirley Chumbley, Indianapolis, IN.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Herl Robertson and Bro. Jerry Arms officiating. Interment was in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Robert L. Wilson, 58,
Jamestown, KY passed away Friday, May 30, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. He was a member of the Fair Board, Jaycees Fair Manager, Jamestown City Attorney for 10 years, District Judge 40th Judicial District from 1998 until 2002, County Attorney 1972 till 1975 private law practice from 1967 until 1998, and Circuit Judge 57th Judicial District from 2002 until his time of death and a member of the Jamestown First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Delores Rogers Wilson, Jamestown, KY; three sons, John R. (Jamie) Wilson, Lexington, KY, William Todd (Leslie) Parson, and Patrick Parson, both of Bowling Green, KY; three daughters, DeLynn Wilson, Frankfort, KY, Tonia (David) Johns, Bowling Green, KY and Kimberly (Creig) Ewing, Louisville, KY; his father, Leonard E. Wilson, Jamestown; one brother, William W. (Rebecca) Wilson, Jamestown, KY; one step-brother, Ross Kramer, Washington, D.C.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Jamestown First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Mosley officiating. Interment was in the Russell Springs Cemetery. H.E. Mr. Roe Wesley Wilson, 78
Of Rt.2, Mt. Vernon, KY passed away Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY, after a brief illness. He was born on June 23, 1924, in Russell Springs, KY., a son of the late A.T. and Vena Lee Ashbrook Wilson. He was a Navy Veteran and he was retired from General Motors where he worked in Quality Control. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was a member of the Protestant faith. Those left to mourn his passing, include his daughters, Tracy Koehler and husband Kenny of Wabash, IN; Lisa Wilson- Mason and Janie Barker. A brother, Roy Wilson and his wife Lorene of Milford, OH; a sister, Irene Beane of Russell Springs, KY; six grandchildren; an aunt, Louella Robertson, Russell Springs, KY; and a special friend, Mrs. Elva Langford of Calloway, KY and her family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Harrison Wilson and two brothers. Funeral services were Sunday June 1, 2003 in the chapel of Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Billy Medley officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Beldon, Gary Langford and Michael Beard. Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals was in charge of the arrangements.

Cleda Carter Wolford, 58,
Of the Millerfields Community, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was the widow of Almon Wolford. Survivors include, three sons, Cody and Collin Wolford, and Larry Sample, all of Adair County, two daughters, Marissa Holmes, Adair County and Tammy Zavalita, Louisville, KY; four brothers, Timothy Carter and Morris Carter, both of Russell Springs, KY, William Carter, Indiana, and Mitchell Carter, Adair County; five sisters, Brenda Carter, Russell Springs, KY, Donna Carter and Valeta Carter, Adair County, Bonita McWhorter, South Carolina and Mary Owens, Shepherdsville, KY; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Funeral services were Thursday, June 11, 2003 in the chapel of the Rippetoe Funeral Home. Rippetoe Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Myrtie Faye Wooten, 45,
Glensfork, KY passed away Sunday, May 18, 2003 at her residence. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her mother, Elsie Pelston; two daughters, Michelle (Jason) Greenwell, Manning, SC and Melissa (George) Meers, Russell Springs, KY; four brothers, Walter, Larry, Terry and Ronnie Pelston, all of Columbia, KY; three sisters, Louise Furkins, Columbia, KY, Edith Gabehart, Campbellsville, KY and Ruby Bates, IN; and one half-sister, Eveline Meyers, IL; also surviving are three grandchildren; Sarah Jo Meers, Brandon Wayne Meers and Hannah Marie Greenwill; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Melinda Renae Wooten, two brothers, Homer and Kenneth Pelston and one sister, Sylvia Shirley. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in chapel of Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Janes officiating. Interment was in the Coomer Cemetery in Breeding, KY.
Pallbearers were Anthony Gabehart, Johnny Dial, Earl Gabehart, Mitchell Furkins, Dale Furkins and Alberto Mendoza. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Anna M. Yarberry, 74,
Columbia, KY formerly of Russell County, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003 in Campbellsville, KY after an illness. She was a member of the Sparksville Church of the Nazarene and a retired factory worker. She was the daughter of the late Carlie and Mary A. Davis Polston and the widow of G.V. Yarberry who preceded her in death April 5, 2003. Survivors include three sons, Gaylon (Phyllis) Yarberry, Campbellsville, KY, Tyrone and Rocky Yarberry, both of Columbia, KY.; one daughter, Diane Murrell, Columbia, KY; four brothers, Kenneth Polston, Wallace Polston, and Willard Polston, all of Wisconsin and Keith Polston,Ohio; four sisters, Carol Cowan, Phyllis Fudge and Della Montgomery, all of Columbia, KY and Arlene Miller, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, three step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services were Saturday, September 6, 2003 in the chapel of Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Lonny Karnes officiating. Interment was in the Fudge Cemetery at Breeding, KY. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Cash, Jr., Sparky Cash, Tyler Yarberry, Joel Yarberry, Perry Reeder, and Russell Roach. Survivors include her husband, Verlman York, Russell Springs, KY; three daughters, Joyce Ann (Jeff) Mondie, Modella Paulina (Mark) Bernard and Margaret (Billy) Cook, all of Russell Springs, KY; her mother-in-law, Durella Turner York, Russell Springs,KY; three brothers, Hyman Luke (Betty) Meece, Decatur, IL, Garry Allen (Sandy) Meece, Shelbyville, IN and Selby Neil Meece, Dunnville, KY; two sisters, Wanda (Junior) Luttrell, Russell Springs, KY and Dinah Rose (Gene) Moore, Indianapolis, IN; also surviving is one grandson, Mark Patrick Bernard and one granddaughter, Brandi Arietta Bernard. and Baby Cook due in August. Russell Springs, KY passed away Friday, October 31, 2003 at his residence. He was an heavy equipment operator by trade. Survivors include four sons, Johnny Carter, Scotty Carter and Wayne Carter, all of Columbia, KY and Dakota Carter, Russell Springs, KY; three daughters, Sandra McCloud and Latasha Carter, both of Columbia, KY and Whitney Carter, Russell Springs, KY; his mother, Sarah Evelyn Carter, Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Bo Carter, Cambridge, OH and Ronnie Carter, Columbia, KY; four sisters, Jackie Adamson, Russell Springs, KY, Jo Carter, Greensburg, KY, Jerrie Holland, Summershade, KY and Judy Hammond, Mt. Vernon, KY; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Rhuie Carter. Funeral services were Monday, November 3, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Elbert Hadley and Bro. J.D. Melson. Interment was in the Conover Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Colin Arthur and Mickey Carter. Mrs. Bessie Susan Hoskins Richards, 90,
Jamestown, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was the widow of Orvis Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband Orvis and brothers Chester, Estil, and Elmer Hoskins and a sister, Pauline Roy. Survivors include two sons, Kent and Judy Richards, Frankfort, KY and Dwight and Carol Richards, Jamestown, KY; one brother, J.L. Hoskins, Hustonville, KY; two sisters, Eula Hankla, Jamestown, KY and Elizabeth Land Turpin, Liberty, KY; and four grandsons, one granddaughter, four great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was a longtime member of the Jamestown First Baptist Church. Funeral services were Monday, November 3, 2003 at the Jamestown First Baptist Church with Bro. Dan Flanagan and Bro. Monty Moore officiating. Special music was provided by the church choir. Interment was in the Ridgecrest Cemetery. Rippetoe Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lois Christine Grider Morgan
Lois Christine Grider Morgan, 76, Russell Springs died Friday, May 19, 2000 at the Russell County Hospital.
She was born in Russell County February 10, 1924 to the late Verna Shearer Grider and Cotz Grider.
She was a cook at the Russell County High School cafeteria and a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bartie Morgan; one son, Bobby Morgan; one daughter, Jane Shepherd Purcell and one granddaughter, Amy Latae Morgan; and several brothers.
She is survived by three children, Shirley Grider and her husband Orvis of Columbia; David Morgan and his wife Brenda and Jerry Morgan and his wife Teresa all of Russell Springs; two brothers, Ralph Grider and Bill Grider, both of Indiana; four sisters, Joyce Warriner and Verna Pearl Webb, both of Hope, Indiana; Doris Rooks and Janice Bennett, both of Edinburg, Indiana; five grandchildren, Tammy Grider, Tony Grider, Robbie Morgan, Jeremy Morgan and Clark Shepherd; two great-grandchildren Josh Grider and Austin Clark Shepherd.
Funeral services were held Sunday May 21, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Janes and Rev. Jeff York officiating.
Burial was in Russell County Memorial Gardens.
Special music was provided by the church choir.
Pallbearers were Robbie Morgan, Jeremy Morgan, Robert Miller, Tony Grider, Josh Grider, Clark Shepherd and Ronnie Shepherd.
Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
