Orvis Selby
Orvis Selby, 75, Hayes Chapel Community, died November 4, 2000 at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Antle Selby, Russell Springs; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Herlon Selby, Louisville and William Alford Selby, Russell Springs.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Bernice Selby Martin.
He was a retired farmer; Veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Hayes Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Sexton officiating.
Special music was provided by Doyle Antle.
Interment was in Dixon Cemetery.
Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alford "Shorty" Holt
Mr. Alford "Shorty" Holt age 81, died on Saturday, February 24th, at his home in Hayes Chapel Community.
He is survived by his wife Mary Helen Gaskins Holt as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Alford "Shorty" Holt were held on Monday February 26th in the Chapel of the Rippetoe Funeral Home. Bro. Leon Simpson officiated the service.
Serving a s casket bearers were Larry, Roger and Dean Blair, James Earl Holt an William Holt and Joe Cain.
Burial was in the Grider Cemetery.
Rippetoe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Fred Gillen
Fred R. Gillen, age 79 of Somerset, Kentucky died February 24, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He attended Cotter Avenue Church of God. He was a chief inspector for Tecumsh for over 30 years and received a distinguished flying cross in WWII while in the Air Force.
He is survived by his wife: Irene Nelson Gillen of Somerset. One son, Michael Gillen of Onsted, Michigan, two daughters Anita Corfman of Saline Michigan and Jeanette "Jan" Wilson of Russell Springs. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were Tuesday February 27, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating, interment was in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

James Raymond Brown
James Raymond Brown, 72, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Russell County Hospital.
Born in Jamestown on Feb. 11, 1929, he was the son of Eva Lucille Craig Brown and William Brown, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Russell and Anna Miller.
Survivors include six sisters, Edna Brown of Russell Springs and Martha Conner, Stella Mann, Betty Mann, Carolyn Reeder and Connie Reeder, all of Jamestown; and eight brothers, William Brown, Dale Brown, Marvin Brown, Dean Brown, Danny Joe Brown, J.B. Brown, Michael Brown and Jason Brown, all of Jamestown. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Delvin Wilson officiating.
Pallbearers were Danny Brown, Charles Stanton, Woody Stanton, Lawrence Conner, Johnny Crew and Matthew Brown.
Interment was in the James-town Cemetery.

Hargis Davis
Hargis Davis, 87, of Ingle, Ky., dies Tuesday, Feb. 19 in Russell Springs.
He was a farmer and a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church.
Born in Pulaski County on Feb. 19, 1914, he was the son of Martha Wilson Davis and Ed Alcorn Davis, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rena Whittle Davis on Feb. 25, 1997; five brothers, Walter Davis, Dewey Davis, Archie Davis, Harlan Davis and Lee Davis; and two sisters, Maggie Foster and Gertie Davis.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Sherry Davis of Faubush, Gary and Pamela Davis of Nicholasville, Garman B. and Mary Davis and Norman and Jan Davis, all of Lancaster, and Dallas and Diana Davis of Nancy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ercel and Elvin Dailey of Lancaster and Rethel and Harold Pittman of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Emory Davis of Russell Springs; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Nancy Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Butte officiating.
Interment was in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Marilyn Joy Roy
Marilyn Joy Roy, 54, of Greenfield, Ind., died Tuesday, Feb. 20 at her residence.
She was a site director for Knightstown Senior Citizens from 1986 to 1988. She later worked for SRS Leather Shop in Knightstown from 1988 to 1993. She also served as snack bar manager for the Green-field Wal-Mart from 1993 to 1997. She was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Knightstown.
Born in Russell Springs on May 27, 1946, she was the daughter of Dora Thelma Wilson Gosser and Arthur Gosser, both of whom preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, James Marshall, III of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Michelle Marshall Andis of Greenfield, Ind.; two brothers, Jayhue Gosser of Milford, Ohio and Edward Gosser of Russell Springs; and three sisters, Louise Roy of Knightstown, Ind., Anna Louise Harrell of Russell Springs and Eune Delle Hansford of Somerset. Six grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at Pasco Memorial Mortuary in Greenfield, Ind.
Interment was in Glencove Cemetery in Knightstown, Ind.

Daysha Danielle Wilson
Daysha Danielle Wilson, nine months, of Russell Springs, died Friday, Feb. 16 at Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Somerset on May 17, 2000, she was the daughter of Sandy Wilson Mann of Russell Springs and Coy Marcum of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Judy Roberts; and her great-grandfather, Benny Green Wilson.
Surviving along with her parents are her grandparents, Benny Eugene and Nancy Wilson of Russell Springs and Randy Marcum of Lexington; her great-grandparents, Hollis and Treva Curtsinger of Jamestown and Alice Wilson of Russell Springs; her great-great-grandparents, Willie and Edith Curtsinger of Russell Springs; two brothers, Cody Mann and Riley Hatfield, both of Jamestown; one sister, Ashley Mann of Russell Springs; and one uncle and two aunts, Trent and Jennifer Shearer and Sheila Wilson, all of Russell Springs.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Billy Dunbar officiating. Special music was provided by Heavenly Vision.
Pallbearers were Randy McBeath, Jimmy Morgan, Mike Bell, Perrone Marcum and Bob Johnson.
Interment was in Coffey Hill Cemetery.

Alford "Shorty" Holt
Mr. Alford "Shorty" Holt age 81, died on Saturday, February 24th, at his home in Hayes Chapel Community.

J.B. Smith
J.B. Smith, 93, of Russell Springs passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Reba (Coe) Smith, one son, Jerry, husband of Lina Smith of Russell Springs, one daughter, Vanda Smith, also of Russell Springs. Two grandchildren, Richard Burton, husband of Linda Burton of Junction City, KY and Myra K. Smith of Russell Springs and a foster son, Sammie Coe also survive. Four great grandchildren also survive, Andrea Burton, Junction City, KY, Chris, Samantha and Lyndsey Grider all of Russell Springs and a special friend, Arretus Eads also survive.
Funeral services were Thursday, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Earl Carey officiating, interment was in the Phelps Cemetery. Pallbearers were Daryl Coe, Jeff Smith, Donnie Smith, Tony Coe, Ted Coe, Todd Blankenship and Troy Anderson.

Carl E. Birdwell
Carl E. Birdwell, 84, of Jamestown passed away Friday, Oct. 12 at the Casey Co. Hospital in Liberty.
He is survived by one son, Roy Birdwell of Jamestown, five daughters, Nina Hall, Wanda Birdwell both of Jamestown, Minnie Russ, Noblesville, IN, and Linda Hayes, Las Vegas, NV. One brother, Cedric E. Birdwell of Jamestown, KY and two sisters, Marie Birdwell of Livingston, TN and Kathrine Stearns of Columbia, KY. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were Monday at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel. Interment was in the Jamestown Cemetery, pallbearers were Ruben Smith, Wayne Brumley, Shawn Birdwell, Chris Birdwell, Phillip Bryant and Steve Bryant.

Buford Knight
Buford Knight, age 73 was born on Feb. 1, 1928 and died Friday Oct. 12 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. He was the son of the late Fred and Mary Frances Franklin Knight. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Wooldridge Knight of Jamestown, one son, Donnie Knight of Jamestown and one...[cut off]
