A. Norman Riley (Norm) 86, of Marlboro, Mass went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 20, 2007, after a brief illness.
He was surrounded by his loving family.
Norman leaves his loving wife Ruth (Stevenson) Riley, of 62 years, his four children, Janice Peterson and her husband, Allan of N. Smithfield, RI., Barbara Laflamme and her husband, Leo of N. Grafton, Mass., Marilyn Zaino and her husband, Frank of E. Greenwich, RI., and Ken Riley and his wife, Lori of Hubbardston, Mass., his 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Born September 27, 1920 in Quincy, Mass., son of Albert Riley and Mae (Watson) Riley.
He worked for 35 years at Phillip A. Hunt Company and retired as Regional Sales Manager. He was then employed by Web Industries as Vice President of sales for 10 years and retired in 1990.
He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps, as a navigator. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Norman was instrumental in starting Village Bible Chapel in Framingham, which is now Crossroads Community Church, which he served as an elder for many years.
His passion in life was serving the Lord and being surrounded by his wife and family.
A private military burial at the Massachusetts National Veterans Cemetery was held on May 24th.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sat. June 2, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Road (27/126) Wayland, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Berea, 68 Berea Road. Hebron, N.H. 03241 or Metro West Heart Center, 99 Lincoln St. Framingham, Mass. 01702

Joanne (Hill) Monahan
May 19, 2007
61, Of Winchester formerly of Belmont died on May 19, 2007. She was the beloved wife of Joseph W. Monahan III.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 8, 1945, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Hill, M.D.
Mrs. Monahan was the devoted mother of Joseph W. “Jay” Monahan IV & his wife Susan of Belmont, Brendan S. Monahan & his wife Abbey of Belmont and Justin H. Monahan & his wife Sarah of Belmont. She was the loving grandmother of Sophie Porter Monahan, Phoebe Kay Monahan, Brendan S. Monahan Jr., Aidan Patrick Monahan & Elizabeth Joanne Monahan. She was the sister of Lucy H. Coon of Coronado CA, William R. Hill III of Dunedin FL, Charles J. Hill of Cambridge and Susan H. Rooney of So. Dartmouth.
Joanne was a late member of the Winton Club and Lifetime member of the Winchester Country Club.

She was the devoted mother of the late Walter John Saunders, and grandmother of the late Robin Haggerty.
Born in Everett, Massachusetts on August 20, 1917, she was the daughter of Winslow P. and Helen (Bench) Lewis. She was the sister of the late Mary Conway, Dorothy Parker & William Lewis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
She was a retired employee of Harvard University Food Service.

Born in Attleboro, MA on December 23, 1931, she was the daughter of Clifford and Marion (Carpenter) Remington.
She was the beautiful mother of Patrick Kevin O'Neill (Leanne), of Alabama; Noreen Ann O'Neill (Timothy), of Wexford, PA; Dennis Christopher O'Neill (friend Denise), of Florida; Kathleen Mary Slavina (fiance Bob Barlas), of Elizabeth, PA; Eileen Maura Horne (Tim), of Arnold, PA; and Timothy Gerard O'Neill (Lynn), of Bellevue, PA. Sister of Kathryn M. Murphy. Grandmother of Sean, Matthew, Kenneth, Erin, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Marcus, Allan, Samantha, Shane and Evan. Great-grandmother of Blake.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.

William G. Stanton
Died, April 13, 2007
Local Funeral Director 81 years Old
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Common St. Belmont on Wednesday at 10 A.M. for William G. Stanton a local Funeral director for more than 54 years. Mr. Stanton died on April 13, 2007 in St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham after a 4 month illness. Born in Belmont and a life long resident of the community, he was active in many local organizations over the years.
The Owner of the Stanton Funeral Home until his retirement, Bill was a second generation funeral director succeeding his father the late John J. Stanton who established the business in Watertown in 1919 and who died in 1960. The funeral home is in its third generation of operation, now by Bill’s son, Richard J. Stanton.
A graduate of Belmont High School Class of 1942, Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the U.S. Ingersoll, a Navy Destroyer as both a Gunner’s Mate and a Water Boiler Tender. Upon discharge from the Navy he attended Bryant & Stratton Business School and upon completion attended the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences School. Mr. Stanton became a licensed funeral director in 1949.
Active in organizations such as Waverley Post #1272 VFW, Belmont K of C, Watertown Lodge #1513 B.P.O.E., 100 Club of MA, Town Club of Belmont and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also a member of both the MA Funeral Directors Assoc. and the National Funeral Directors Assoc.
Mr. Stanton also served as a member of the Boston Archdiocesan Choir School.
Mr. Stanton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis J. (Curry) Stanton. Devoted father of Mary Ann Mulvaney & her husband Kenneth of Milton, Margaret J. “Peg” Custage & her husband Dennis of Coral Springs FL, William G. Stanton Jr. of Reston, VA and Richard J. Stanton & his wife Janice of Belmont. Loving grandfather of Matthew & Andrew Custage, Sean, Christopher & Kyle Stanton. Brother of John J. Stanton of Belmont and the late Frank A. Stanton & Elizabeth Fallon. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery.
Funeral Mass: St. Joseph Church, Common Street, Belmont, Wednesday 10 a.m.

Francis T. Skahan
January 29, 2008
– Of Waltham, formerly of Belmont, MA. Died on January 29, 2008 at Metro West Medical Center in Framingham, MA.
Born in Cambridge, MA on March 18, 1939, he was the beloved son of the late Edward F. and Doris M. Skahan. He was the brother of Edward F. Jr. of Falmouth, Robert J.of Keene NH, David G. of Waltham, and the late Paul Skahan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Mr. Francis Skahan memory made to The New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108 would be appreciated.

Rita M. (Devlin) Sullivan

Of Cambridge, formerly of Brighton, died on Monday, January 28, 2008 at the age of 85. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Sullivan.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on January 26, 2008, she was the loving daughter of the late James & Mary Carroll (Haviland) Devlin. She was the dear sister of Frank C. Devlin of Brighton and the late Elsie T. Devlin.
Rita is also survived by her dear friends Mario Aliquo, Pat Tate, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Mrs. Sullivan in the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A visiting hour will take place in the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mount Auburn Street (Route 16), Watertown on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Brighton.
Rita was a retired employee of the United States Navy Department of Naval Research in Boston, MA.

Margaret Frances (Carney) Doherty

Lifelong resident of Watertown, Massachusetts, died on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at the Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Doherty.
She was the mother of Margaret (Peggy) Anderson and Carol Doherty, both of Watertown; Daniel (Danny) Doherty of Nashua, NH, and the late Paul A. Doherty, Jr. She was the grandmother of Kathleen, Scott & Kelly Anderson of Watertown, MA; Donovan & Collin Doherty of Newton, MA; and step-grandmother of Amanda & Korey Burgess, and Brandon Rand of Nashua, NH.
Born in Watertown, Massachusetts on April 5th, 1921, Margaret was the dear daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Stafford) Carney. She was the loving sister of the late Thomas, Maurice, Edward & James Carney.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Doherty will be held from the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mount Auburn Street, (Route 16), Watertown on Thursday, January 31st, 2008 at 9:30 A.M. A funeral Mass will take place at the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are scheduled on Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.
Margaret was an avid gardener, and cat-lover. She was a former employee of Western Electric in Watertown, MA.
She was beloved by her family, friends and neighbors. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Of Watertown died on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Winchester Hospital, Winchester, MA. She was 94 years old.
She was the devoted wife of the late George F. Edwards. She was the loving mother of four children: George F. Edwards, Jr. & Ellen of Maine, Peggy (Edwards) Hickey & Richard of Belmont, Grace (Edwards) Wheeler & John Getsinger of Lexington, and the late Mary (Edwards) Kelly & Gerard.
She is survived by 19 grandchildren: Christina Flynn & her husband Michael, Diane Bogue & her husband Ed, Andrea Ferguson & her husband Jim, Tracy Letourneau, Brett Letourneau & his wife Eimear, Rich Hickey, Jr., Kevin Hickey & his wife Karen, G. Brendan Hickey & his wife Jen, Kristen Paulo, Beth Hickey, Colleen Goddard & her husband Glenn, Sean Hickey & his wife Magali, Erin Sheehan & her husband Jed, Cindy Norman & her husband Jeff, Gerard Kelly, Brian Kelly & his fiancée Brenna Fitzmaurice, Patrick Wheeler & his wife Wendy, Brian Wheeler, and Keith Wheeler.
She is survived by 32 great-grandchildren: Matthew & Amanda Flynn; Samuel & Anthony Bogue; Jim & Leandra Ferguson; Travis & Emmit Letourneau; Meaghan, Shannon & Kevin Hickey; Paige, Anna, Allyson & Brendan Hickey; Jared, Gabrielle, Brendan & Grace Paulo; Liam, Gavin & Grace Goddard; Emma Hickey; Shana, Taylor & Devin Norman; Tyler, Joshua & Emily Wheeler; Rebecca, Samantha & Calaeb Wheeler.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Somerville, MA on December 24, 1913, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Elizabeth Haley. She is predeceased by six sisters, Eileen, Marion, Gertrude, Alice, Catherine, & Edna; and two brothers, George & James.
Margaret was a graduate of Somerville High School, Somerville, MA. She was a long time resident of Belmont and a former member of the Ladies Sodality at Saint Joseph's Church. She and her late husband helped raise money to build Saint Joseph's School in the 1950's. She was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Beverly during the summer months. In later years, Nana lived in Watertown and was a member of Saint Patrick's Church, where she volunteered in the Rectory. She was also a member of the Watertown Senior Citizens and volunteered her time running Bingo at 55 Waverley Ave., where she resided. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Ancient Order of Hibernians Div. #14. For many years, she was a member of the Ladies Bowling League.
Mom had many hobbies: Shopping was her favorite. She was an accomplished bowler and valuable member of her team. She also loved swimming and boating. Mom and Dad would go dancing every chance they got. With a kiln in their basement, Mom and Dad worked on ceramics for many years. She was also skilled at sewing, knitting & crocheting, and provided the family with many beautiful pieces.

Of Watertown, died Friday, January 25, 2008 at home. He was the husband of the late Kimberly (McCulley) Shea. He is survived by his son, Michael R. Shea of Watertown.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 13, 1959, he was the son of Mrs. M. Nancy Shea of Watertown and the late William J. Shea, Jr. He was the brother of Carolyn A. Shea and the late William J. Shea, III.
Funeral Services are being conducted privately at the Shea family's request.

Francis J. "Frank" McLaughlin, Jr.
January 22, 2008
Of Watertown, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 in Lowell, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Lily (Joyce) McLaughlin. He was the devoted father of Francis J. McLaughlin, III. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Kayla, Kelsey & Franky McLaughlin, and his daughter in law, Maria McLaughlin.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on January 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Francis J. & Bernice (Lima) McLaughlin. He was the brother of Mary Wool, Eugene, Lawrence, Paul & Ronald McLaughlin.
Funeral Services for Frank will be held from the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mount Auburn Street (Route 16), Watertown on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 8:00 A.M. A Funeral Mass will take place in the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown at 9:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are scheduled on Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment in Mount Auburn Cemetery following funeral services.
Mr. McLaughlin worked as a clerk for General Motors. He was a late U.S. Army Veteran.

Kenneth James Redding
January 14, 2008
Age 77, died Monday, January 14, 2008 in the Okeechobee Health Care Facility, Okeechobee, FL. Born December 30, 1930 in East Boston, he had been a resident of Okeechobee for the past 5 years and was a member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Redding and Frances (LeNoir) Redding; his brother, Donald J. Redding; and his daughter, Donna Marie Redding.
He is survived by his brother, George W. Redding of Hudson; Sister, Carol Ann F. Pride of Stuart, FL; two grandchildren, Lindsay & Lauren; and Fiancé, Hilda Harris of Okeechobee. In addition, he is survived by the mother of his daughter, Kathy Balch.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 under the direction of the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mount Auburn Street, Route 16, Watertown at 5:00 P.M. A visitation is scheduled to take place before the funeral service from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, MA 02451.
