Mrs. Marvolene B. Irvin, 71, of Hogansville died Dec. 16, 1996 at her home.
Born Aug. 18, 1925 in Randolph County, Alabama, Mrs. Irvin was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Henderson Bradley. She was retired from Playtex in LaGrange and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville, where she was a member of the Eveready Sunday School Class. She served as the Sunday School secretary for many years.
Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at First Baptist Church of Hogansville with the Rev. Jerry Cross, the Rev. Bill Deakins and the Dr. Bill Camp officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin B. Irvin of Hogansville; daughters Beth Palmer of Hogansville, Kathy Kelley of Chickamauga; sons, John Irvin of Sargent, Terry Irvin of Winston, Bob Irvin of Hogansville; sisters, Nancy Bradley, Janine Bradley, both of LaGrange; brother, H.B. Bradley of LaGrange; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MRS. LOIS BURDETTE JOHNSON
Mrs. Lois Burdette Johnson, 77, of Huntsville, Ala. died Dec. 13, 1996 at her home.
A homemaker and an artist, Mrs. Johnson was a charter member of the Huntsville League. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville.
Funeral services were held Dec. 17 at Laughlin Service Chapel in Huntsville. Graveside services were held Dec. 18 at the Senoia City Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Claude E. Johnson of Huntsville; daughter, Claudia J. McClung of Maidens, Va.; brother, Travis E. Burdette of Tallahassee, Fla.; sisters, Nadine B. Kirby of Roanoke, Va., Kate B. French, Sara A.B. Benefield, both of Wedowee, Ala.; grandson, Jon Scott McClung of Richmond, Va.; granddaughter, Ellis Ann McClung of Maidens, Va.; nephews and nieces.

MR. RHODES C. JOHNSON
Mr. Rhodes C. Johnson, 85, of LaGrange died Dec. 19, 1996 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Born April 29, 1911 in Coweta County, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Egbert Daniel and Mary Kate Walker Johnson. He was retired from Wholesale hardware Co. in LaGrange.
Mr. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church of LaGrange, where he was a Sunday School teacher for 32 years. He also was a member of the Jaycees.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21 (today) at First Baptist Church of LaGrange with Dr. Paul R. Baxter officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Johnson of LaGrange; sisters, Lillian Johnson of Atlanta, Emily Mathews of Houston, Texas, Nell Andrews of Columbus; brother, Howard Johnson of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Betty Joan Livingston, 54, of Senoia died Dec. 17, 1996 in Athens.
Born Oct. 18, 1942 in Atlanta, Mrs. Livingston was a former office manager with Parks and Mottola real Estate. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Sam Bowers, Lyle Bowers, Keith Brady, Parks Cole, Jim Mottola, Pick Parks, Ford Miller, Jim Denney, Hugh Farmer, Howard Parks, Charles Mottola, Richard Abt, Buddy Burns, Jim Hines, Ed Moore and Paden Vineyard serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her parents, Harold Guy and Marguerite (Corley) Guy of Manchester; daughters, Tamara Purcell of Prince George, Va., Margaret Norvell of New Port News, Va.; sister, Yvonne Clouse of Dothan, Ala.; and nieces, Pamela Singleton of Maryland and Cherry Singleton of Texas.

MR. RUFUS CORRIE O'NEAL
Mr. Rufus Corrie O'Neal, 77, of Warm Springs died Dec. 17, 1996 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital.
Born Sept. 9, 1919 in Meriwether County, Mr. O'Neal was the son of the late Alvin B. O'Neal Sr. and Lucy Malone. He was a member of Alvaton Baptist Church and a retired engineering aid for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
he was preceded in death by a son, Robert O'Neal, and brothers, Alvin B. O'Neal Jr. and James O'Neal.
Graveside services were held Dec. 19 at the Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Robert Patterson officiating.
Survivors include his son, Ronnie O'Neal of Warm Springs; daughter, Nancy Bishop of Warm Springs; brother, Roger O'Neal of Alvaton; sisters, Ferris Stribling of Lanette, Ala., Joyce Melton of Woodbury; four grandchildren; and former wife, Doris B. O'Neal.

CARRIE LOU RAMEY
Mrs. Carrie Lou Ramey, 72, of Whitesburg died Dec. 17, 1996 in Carrollton.
Born Oct. 14, 1924 in Georgia, Mrs. Ramey was the daughter of the late William Carey and Eva Mae (Sterman) Ramey and the widow of Curtis E. Ramey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Dec. 20 at her home with the Rev. Bill Vinson officiating. Interment followed at the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Jack and Judy Ramey, Kenny and Billie Jo Ramey, Brenda Black, all of Whitesburg, Barbara and Michael Perry of Fairburn, Robert and Betty Pittman of Douglasville, Darrell and Veronica Ramey, Jimmy and Patricia Ramey, Walter Ramey, all of Newnan; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MR. ROBERT L. RICHARDS
Mr. Robert L. Richards, 69, of Greenville died Dec. 16, 1996 after a prolonged illness.
Born March 14, 1927 in Atlanta, Mr. Richard graduated from Emory University in 1948. He served in Europe during World War II as a U.S. Army intelligence officer.
Mr. Richards was a 32 Degree Mason and a past mater of Atlanta Lodge 59 F&AM. He was a Scottish Rite, a York Rite Mason, a Shriner and a member of Greenville Lodge 321.
Mr. Richard was a retired attorney, a former city judge in Greenville and a cattle farmer. He was a member of Greenville Methodist Church.
Mr. Richards was a member of the Georgia Bar Association, and the Bar of the the Supreme Court of the United States.
Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Padgett Nelson officiating. Interment followed at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife Audrey Richards of Greenville; daughters, Diane Regan, Sandra and Keith Moses, Lynn and Bill Green; son, Al Ganus; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MR. CALVIN C. SMITH
Mr. Calvin C. Smith, 72, of Newnan died Dec. 16, 1996.
Born Jan. 1, 1924 in Randolph County, Alabama, Mr. Smith was the son of the late William Riley Smith and Bertha Richardson. He was a textile weaver and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at First Assembly of God with C.R. Hicks officiating. Interment followed at Meriwether Memorial Gardens with Robbie Wilson, Becky Ray, Alvin Gilbert, Calvin Clay, William Clay and Allen Smith serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Novella Thompson Smith of Newnan; son, Ray Smith of Senoia; brother, Dennis Smith of Columbus; sister, Irene Strickland of Luthersville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. June May Brewer, 64, of Grantville died Dec. 13, 1996 in Grantville.
Born June 3, 1932 in Dothan Ala., Mrs. Brewer was the daughter of the late Robert and Stella (Howell) May. She was a retired teacher and a member of Central Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Dec. 15 at her home with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating.
Survivors include her husband, T.R. Brewer; daughters, Tarita B. Hamman of Newnan, Ginger Beckom of Grantville; son, Trey Brewer of Schertz, Texas; and six grandchildren.

MRS. ZELDA KING ROSSER RICE GRIFFIN
Mrs. Zelda King Rosser Rice Griffin 76, of Newnan passed away Dec. 11, 1996 at Dogwood Health and rehabilitation Center in Fairburn.
Born Aug. 24, 1920 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late John Henry Rosser and Beodessa Rosser. A retired teacher, she was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church in the Lone Oak community of Grantville for most of her life.
Mrs. Griffin attended elementary and junior high schools in Meriwether and Coweta counties. She graduated from Fort Valley High School and Fort Valley State College as valedictorian of her class.
Mrs. Griffin taught school in Meriwether and Coweta counties for more than 30 years. Most of that time, she taught a first-grade class in Grantville.
After retiring in 1975, Mrs. Griffin dedicated her time to working with charitable, church and civic organizations.
A memorial services was held Dec. 14 from St. Paul C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Peris J. Lester and the Rev. J.D. Grier Jr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Alexander Sr. and the Rev. Clarence Ellison.
Survivors include her husband, William J. Griffin Sr.; son Mr. and Mrs. Ralph F. (Charalene) Rice; step-daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Wilma) Johnson; step-son, William Griffin Jr.; sisters, Susie Rosser, Lillian Rosser; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Ella Ruth) Rosser; sisters-in-law, Rosa Rosser, Anna Marie Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Robbie) Clay, Marie Robinson; nephews and nieces.

MRS. MARGARET CANNON JAMES
Mrs. Margaret Cannon James died Dec. 14, 1996.
Mrs. James helped organize the Women's Auxiliary of the Shrine Arab Guard of the Yarab Temple in Atlanta and served as its first president. She was a volunteer driver for the American red Cross during World War II and was a member of the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services were held Dec. 17 at Floral Memorial Gardens in Tucker with Dr. Harry Barrow officiating.
Survivors include a son, Richard James Sr. of Newnan; a sister, Mrs. J.P. Griffin of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Jennie Sellen, Richard James Jr., Walter James; and great-grandchildren, Tiffany Sellen, Ashley Sellen and Michael James.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital in Greenville, S.C.

MRS. PEARL B. PATE
Mrs. Pearl B. Pate, 106, of Walthourville and a former resident of Grantville died Dec. 13, 1996 at Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville.
Born Jan. 6, 1890 in Douglas County, Mrs. Pate was the daughter of the late Tandy and Josephine Beatenbaugh Bennett and the widow of Arthur E. Pate. She lived in Coweta County for most of her life and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Dec. 17 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Burks officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery with Marvin Cook, Harold Banks, Mike Findley, Charles Moore, Abner Crum and Max Moore serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughters, Blanche Sweely and Mavis Polk, both Walthourville; son, Donald Pate of Hinesville; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. John "J.W." Reese of East Point and formerly of Newnan died Dec. 14, 1996 in East Point.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Pitts Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Clay officiating.
Survivors include his son, Wayne Reese of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Brian Reese, Lindsey Reese of Sharpsburg; sister, Sybil Ward of Newnan; and brother, William Reese of Newnan.

Mrs. Erma J. Reuss, 77, of Columbus died Dec. 13, 1996 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born March 6, 1919 in Newnan, Mrs. Reuss was the daughter of the late Edgar and Annie Lane Lassiter and the widow of William J. Reuss. She was a homemaker and a member of Beallwood Baptist Church, the Phenix City Moose Lodge and VFW-Smiths.
Graveside services were held Dec. 15 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Survivors include her sons, Harold A. Futral of Opelika, Ala., Thomas M. Futral of Columbus; sister, Sylvia Perry of Denver, Col.; brother, Perry Lassiter of Newnan; grandchildren, David Keith Futral of Opelika, Lois Blackmon of Warner Robins; aunts and cousins.

Mr. Clark H. Strickland, 84, of Manchester died Dec. 10 at Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs.
Born Nov. 18, 1912, Mr. Strickland was the son of the late Elonza Strickland and Ruby Whitten. He was retired from Callaway Mills and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Whitten was a member of the Followers of Christ.
Funeral services were held Dec. 12 at Smith-Steele Funeral home with the Rev. Charles Vaughn officiating, assisted by the Rev. Terry Ault. Interment followed at Meriwether Memorial Gardens with Edward Mitchell, Fred Robertson, Webb Mask Jr., Pat Ott, Stan Thain, B.O. Mitchell, Johnnie B. Crews and Jimmy Crews serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Bertie Vaughn Strickland of Warm Springs; sister, Ruby Thomas of Luthersville; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Robert Turner Sr., 81, of Senoia passed away Dec. 10, 1996 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Born April 30, 1915 in Durand, Ga., Mr. Turner was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Turner. Two daughters, Jessie Turner Woodall and Gaynell Turner Dukes, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Dec. 14 at Rocky Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Luthersville with the Rev. Alvin G. Baker officiating, assisted by the Rev. L. Jackson and the Rev. Phillip Baker.

Mr. David Keith Nelms, 42, of Franklin died Dec. 6, 1996 in St. Louis, Mo.
Born June 25, 1954 in Heard County, Mr. Nelms was the son of the late Rufus Dovard and Clara Mae Ellis. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Newnan and a truck driver for R.T.C. Trucking Company.
Funeral services were held Dec. 13 at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin with the Rev. Michael Watson officiating. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin with Kyle Nelms, James Bazil, Lamar Nelms, Clifford Nelms, Dovard Nelms, Robert Bruce Nelms, George Douglas Nelms and William J. Smith serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Luther Howard Parrott, 73, of Appling died Dec. 5, 1996 at his home.
Mr. Parrott, a native of Griffin, had lived in Appling for 41 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired shift manager with Lily Tulip Cup Corp.
No funeral services were planned.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Emelie H. Parrott; daughter, Sherrie R.P. Hall of Belvedere; brother, Ferrell Parrott of Turin; and two grandchildren.
