MRS. EVELYN HERRING
Mrs. Evelyn Herring, 67, of Gay Street in Newnan passed away Nov. 16, 1996 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.
Born Dec. 3, 1928 in Coweta County, Mrs. Herring was the daughter of the late William Jackson and Lillie Mae (Morgan) Arnold. She was the widow of Joel Herring. A brother, William Arnold, preceded her in death.
A member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Mrs. Herring was retired from the Coweta County School System.
Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at the R.W.S. Memorial Chapel of Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. W.C. Golphin officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.R. Zachery and the Rev. J.T. Coleman. Interment followed at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with family friends serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughters, Josephine Heard of Decatur, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Julia) Amey, Martha Knight, Jackie Herring, Sharon Herring, all of Newnan; sisters, Emma Lou Arnold of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. James (Annie ) Freeman of Atlanta; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Cornelia) Arnold of Patterson, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MR. THELBERT BILLY LEE
Mr. Thelbert Bill Lee, 57, of LaGrange Street in Grantville died Nov. 19, 1996 at Southwest Christian Hospice.
Born June 15, 1939 in South Carolina, Mr. Lee the son of the late William Lester lee and Alma (Hardee) Lee. He was self-employed and a veteran.
Funeral services were held Nov. 21 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. James W. Dyer officiating.
Survivors include his daughters, Christal Smith of Columbia, S.C., Gina Lee of Newnan; son, Thelbert Billy Lee Jr., of Fayetteville, N.C.; sister, Marie Padgett of Columbia; brothers, Linwood Lee of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joseph Lee of Ft. Myers, Fla., James Lee, Waldon Lee, both of Columbia; and half-brother, Jimmy Powell of Columbia.

MR. ROBERT D. ROYAL
Mr. Robert D. Royal, 71, of Royal Drive in Newnan died Nov. 18, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Dec. 14, 1924 in Georgia, Mr. Royal was the son of the late James M. Royal and Katie (Butler) Royal. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Newnan.
A veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Royal was vice president and general manager of Royal Molding Products.
Funeral Services were held Nov. 21 at First United Methodist Church of Newnan with the Rev. Gary Parrish and the Rev. Art O'Neil officiating, assisted by Dr. Dan Brewster. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Danny Umbach, Bobby Royal, Scott Royal, Bill Royal, Jimmy Royal and Mayo Royal Jr. serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Sue S. Royal of Newnan; sons, Danny Royal, David (Beth) Royal, all of Newnan, Steward (Jane) Royal of Duluth; grandson, Ted (Dawn) Pierce of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Courtney Pierce of Newnan; brother, Mayo (Elizabeth) Royal Sr. of Newnan; and sisters-in-law, Mary Royal of Newnan and Audrey Royal of Homestead, Fla.

MRS. MATTIE L. SMITH
Mrs. Mattie L. Smith, 97, of the Florence hand Home in LaGrange and a former Hogansville resident died Nov. 18, 1996.
Born on Oct. 17, 1899 in Meriwether County; Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Harrison and Mattie Chambless Leverett and the widow of Clarence Smith. She was preceded in death by a son, C. Newt Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Flat Rock Primitive Baptist Church in Meriwether County.
Graveside services were held Nov. 20 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with the Dr. Jimmy Brown and the Rev. Hazel Smith Glover officiating.
Survivors include her son, Bill Smith of Sevierville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

MR. JOHNNY ARRINGTON
Mr. Johnny Arrington, 45, of Franklin died Nov. 14, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Sept. 1, 1951 in Heard County, Mr. Arrington was the son of the late Dovie Dean Arrington. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a carpenter.
Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Rogers officiating. Interment followed at Grantville Cemetery with Chris Jones, Shane Jones, Dennis Jones Jr., Anthony Jackson, James Jackson Jr., and Nicholas Minix serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa McKeown Arrington; daughters, Tammy Worley of Alvaton, Rebecca Brockway of Luthersville; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Holland Arrington of Sharpsburg; sister, Patricia Ann Jackson of Franklin; brothers, Hollis Wayne Arrington of Grantville, Hulett Dean of Franklin; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Emily and Ron McKeown of Newnan.

MR. ROBERT DANIEL BROWN SR.
Mr. Robert Daniel Brown Sr., 85, of Newnan died Nov. 15, 1996 at his home.
Born March 26, 1911 in Georgia, Mr. Brown was the son of the late William E. and Pellie (Pope) Brown. He was a member of Westview Christian Church and a machinist.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Watson Mills officiating, assisted by Brother Tony Sullivan and Brother Ben Blake. Interment followed at Fores Lawn Memorial Park with Rob Brown, Michael Kennedy, Mike Thomas, Jimmy Kidd, Richard Rainey and Buddy Arrowood serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Louise K. (Kelly) Brown; daughter, Peggy (Dweight) Keene of Tampa, Fla.; son, Bob (Vesta) Brown Jr. of Newnan; step-sons, Charles (Reba) Orr, Howard (Jan) Orr all of Sharpsburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MRS. BESSIE PAYTON LAUTENSLAGER
Mrs. Bessie Payton Lautenslager, 76, died Nov. 18, 1996 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1919 in Newnan, Mrs. Lautenslager was the daughter of the late Mattie and Myrty (Boone) Payton and the widow of Carl Lautenslager. She was a retired weaver at The Bibb Co., and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 (today) at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Hood officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Richard Williams of Newnan; sisters, Grace Gordon of Florida, Brownie Wilkin, Georgia peak, both of East Point; brother, Carl Payton of Newnan; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MRS. BETTY GRIFFIS MILLER
Mrs. Betty Griffis Miller, 66, of Villa Rica died Nov. 17, 1996 at Cobb Hospital in Austell.
Born May 25, 1930 in Carroll County, Mrs. Griffis was the daughter of the late Oscar and Lorene Karr Griffis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, the New Vision Sunday School Class and the Gold Club,
Mrs. Griffis was a promotion agent for the motion picture industry. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebekah Jane Miller Hall, and a sister, Doris Jordan.
Funeral services were held Nov. 19 at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with the rev. Marshall Ray and Searcy Jackson officiating. Interment followed at Abilene Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Terri (Dale) McLane of Powder Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Diane) Miller of Douglasville; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Searcy (Nell) Jackson of Newnan; brother, Charles Griffis of Villa Rica; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MR. JIM JULIUS MURRAY
Mr. Jim Julius Murray, 56, of Atlanta passed away Nov. 12, 1996 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Born Dec. 28, 1939 in Coweta County, Mr. Murray was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Newnan. He worked at the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Newnan until 1982, when he moved to Atlanta and went to work with Northside Hospital.
Funeral Services were held Nov. 16 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lowinston Jackson officiating, assisted by other medals. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with Rodney Smith, Carlton Taylor, Alton Taylor, Baby Boy Allen, Johnny Cook and Marshal Cook serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Murray, granddaughters, Kimberly Clowers, Shante Lateetia Murray, Emily Keoan Murray; brother, James Albert Murray; sisters, Ideal Strickland, Mary Evelyn Bass Gwendolyn Jackson; aunts; cousins; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Luevert A. Perry, 81, of Newnan passed away Nov. 11, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Dec. 26, 1914 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Perry was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Greenville.
Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. E.J. O'Neal officiating, assisted by the Rev. Julius Warner and the Rev. Timothy Amey. Interment followed at the church Cemetery, with her nephews serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Poochie) Watson of College Park; sisters, Maureen Amey Matthews and Mattie Kate Perkins, both of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

MRS. HAZEL S. REEVES
Mrs. Hazel S. Reeves, 86, of Carrollton died Nov. 14, 1996 at Tanner Medical Center.
Born in Heard County, Mrs. Reeves was the daughter of the late James William Spradlin and Etha Hardy Spradlin. She and her late husband, H. Lester Reeves, operated Reeves Jewelry Store in Carrollton.
Mrs. Reeves was a member of Carrollton First Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at Almon Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Skinner officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Ron Hyde, Jay Stallings, James Luckie and Eddie Brannon serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Jean Reeves of Carrollton; grandsons, Eli Reeves, Silas Reeves, both of Carrollton; sister, Frances Lazenby of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Robert W. Winkles, 83, of Hogansville died Nov. 14, 1996 at the Florence Hand Home in LaGrange.
Born Sept. 14, 1913 in Carroll County, Mr. Winkles was the son of the late John Robert Winkles and Sallie Horsley Winkles. He lived in Hogansville most of his life, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville and operated Winkles Service Station.
Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Winkles; sister, Iris Fuller of West Point; brother, Joseph Winkles of Moreland; and a granddaughter.

MR. CHAD CLIFTON HUDSON
Mr. Chad Clifton Hudson, 21, of Huntsville, Ala., died Nov. 9, 1996.

Graveside services were held Nov. 12 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley, Ga. with the Rev. Phil Pilgrim and Dr. Gene Tyre officiating.

Mrs. Lurline Rosser Keith, 89, of Greenville died Nov. 13, 1996 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs.
Born Sept. 1, 1907 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Keith was the daughter of the late Frank and Susie Denney Rosser. She was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hudson was the widow of the late W. Marshall Keith and was preceded in death by her daughters, Patsy Willingham and Jane Cato.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Porter officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with Homer Flory, Alfred Daniel, James Cato Jr., D.R. Ward, Jack Parker, Dan Branch and Willis Woodruff serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Perkins was a lifelong resident of Dawson and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Willie L. Perkins and was preceded in death by a daughter, Lennie P. McPherson, and a son, Luther Perkins.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14 at Harvey Funeral Home with the Rev. James R. Emery and the Rev. Michael McPherson officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Russell Young Phillips, 65, of Sargent died Nov. 6, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1931 in Omaha, Neb., Mr. Phillips was the son of the late T.F. Phillips. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Nov. 9 (today) at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Eidson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Stephen Hart. Interment followed with full military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Smith) Phillips of Sargent; daughters, Debra Spavone, Dura Kissel, both of Newnan; sisters, Nancy Sue Phillips, Ruby I. Phillips, both of East Point; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Celia Wilhemina Rolfs, 81, of Sharpsburg died Nov. 7, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1915 in Iron River, Mich., Mrs. Rolfs was the daughter of the late John and Sophia (Kaski) Autio and the widow of Vincent Fredrick Rolfs.
She was a retired printing industry clerk and a member of the Lutheran faith.
Funeral services were held in Miami, Fla. with interment following at Dade Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Wells of Sharpsburg; son, Roger Rolfs of Miami; grandchildren, Angela Wells, Matt Wells, Brian Rolfs, Jennifer Rolfs, all of Miami; and sister, Olga Erickson of Kennawa, Mich.

MRS. FRANCIS BARKER SMITH
Mrs. Francis Barker Smith, 86, of Franklin passed away Nov. 9, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born May 22, 1910 in Coweta County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Miles and Mandy Barker. She was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Cornelius Smith and was preceded in death by three children.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14 at Greater Mt. Zion AME Church with the Rev. James Alexander officiating, assisted by T.R. Smith, the Rev. W.R. Sutton and Ken Keith. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with Jimmy Lee Smith, Nathaniel Gray, Robert Wood, Joe Ceiful Houston and Aubrey Askew serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Maggie) Smith, Marie Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Ethel) Smith, Katie Ransby, Mr. and Mrs. Milton (Eva) Keith; sons, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius (Gail) Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Ozzie Lee (Wyvonia) Smith, Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Mrs. Lily Mae Stewart, 92, of Newnan died Nov. 12, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Oct. 28, 1904 in Clay County, Mrs. Stewart was the daughter of the late Alfred Mitchell and Ersula Moncus Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of Almond United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Stewart was the widow of Olin H. Stewart and was preceded in death by and grandson, Rick Shreve, and a great-granddaughter, Katie Wood.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14 at Almond United Methodist Church with Dr. Joel Richardson and the Rev. David Jones officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Mae Dean Johnston of LaGrange, Janell Shreve of Wadley, Ala. and Anita Headley of Newnan; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

MR. MILTON A. WALKER JR.
Mr. Milton A. Walker Jr., 80, of Luthersville died Nov. 13, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born June 5, 1916 in Webster County, Mr. Walker was the son of the late Milton and Susie Wooldridge Walker. He was a member of Luthersville United Methodist Church and was a retired engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Mr. Walker was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge, the Fayette County Shrine Club, the Scottish Rite and the Griffin Knights Temple.
Funeral services were held Nov. 15 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl Hunter and the Rev. Mike White officiating. Interment followed at Luthersville Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were members of the Fayette Shrine Club, the Newnan Shrine Club and the Greenville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Cannon Walker of Luthersville; daughter, Sue Kam of Honolulu, Hawaii; sons, Barry Walker and Raymond Walker, both of Newnan, Bill Walker of Salem, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
