HARRIET VANDERHOEF
HARRISBURG, PA. - Harriet Vanderhoef, 58, of Harrisburg, Pa., died Wednesday ( Oct. 11, 2000) in Harrisburg, following a long illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1942 in Canisteo to Howard and Eudora Campbell Kendall. She married Lynn J. Vanderhoef Jr. who predeceased her in December of 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Howard Vanderhoef of Harrisburg and Donald Vanderhoef of Enola, Pa.; five daughters, Eudora Timmons of Landisburg, Pa., Laurie Rakocy of Harrisburg, Pamela Vanderhoef of Marysville, Pa., Kelly Sheriff of Coopersville, Mich., and Marie Hoffman of Enola; four brothers, Robert Kendall of Addison, Frank Kendall of Dansville, Floyd and Peter Kendall of Canisteo; three sisters, Grace Pettys and Florence Kendall of Canisteo and Margaret Kendall of Angelica; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Wade officiating.

JOHN WASHBURN
WELLSVILLE - John Washburn, 83, of 3106 Riverside Drive died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2000) in the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home.
John was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Almond, the son of Fred and Rose Stearns Washburn. On June 14, 1952 he married the former Phyllis Goodridge who predeceased him on Oct. 7, 1997.
He graduated from the former Almond Central School and served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines. He worked for and retired from the former Masons Typewriter Exchange in Almond.
Survivors include a stepson, Harold (Jean) Slocum of West Almond; two sisters, May Washburn of Hornell and Betty Washburn of Almond; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. following calling hours. Rev. Thomas Wickett will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. or to the American Heart Association.

MILDRED I. STEWART
WOODHULL - Mildred I. Stewart, 88, of 5264 Washington St. passed away Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2000) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in the Town of Troupsburg, Jan. 21, 1912, she was the daughter of Edwin and Edith Rice.
Mildred was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Woodhull, and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years, a member of the former Woodhull Grange and was a former librarian at the Woodhull Public Library.
She married Arthur M. Stewart, Nov. 17, 1928 who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Darland Peters of Woodhull; one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Viola Stewart also of Woodhull; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Rice and sisters, Minnie Hunt, Martha Kernan, Nellie Harding, Winifred Taft and Evelyn Rice.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith and Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main Street, Woodhull, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher will officiate. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
Memorials will be received for the 1st Baptist Church of Woodhull or the Woodhull Fire Department Ambulance Corp.

RALPH E. PRESTON
HORNELL - Ralph E. Preston, 59, of 32 Glen Avenue died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2000) unexpectedly at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born Sept. 19, 1941 a son of Charles and Eva Wilson Preston he had been a lifelong area resident. He graduated Canisteo Central School class of 1960. On Feb. 3, 1962 he married the former Shirley (Askins) Preston who survives. Ralph had been a member of the Hornell Elks and the Moose Clubs. He had belonged to the Civil Air Patrol as well as the Civil Defense, and was a member of the Amateur Radio Relay Assoc. He had attended the Glad Tidings Church of Hornell. Ralph retired, in 1995 after 32 and a half years of dedication to the New York State DOT. He had received numerous meritorious awards for his job service. After his retirement he had worked for Wal-Mart, Value Home Center, and was a surveyor for Stewart Howard.
Surviving in addition to his wife Shirley of over 38 years are four daughters, Cynthia (Gerry) Murray of Hornell, Sandra (John) McMindes of Canisteo, Debbie (Brent) Hockaday of Bath and Pam (Billy) Colomaio of Hornell; one brother, Victor (Jean) Preston of Canisteo; five grandchildren, Kristopher and Sharayah McMindes of Hornell, Megan and Noah Hockaday of Bath and Vinnie Colomaio of Hornell; one great-aunt, Olive Marchese of Rochester; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present Today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St. Hornell. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church of Hornell with Rev. Bruce Dravneek officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
Those wishing to remember Ralph are asked to consider a contribution to the charity of donors choice or the church of their choice.

WARD M. ALEXANDER
IRVINGTON, N.J. - Mr. Ward M. Alexander of Irvington, NJ died Tuesday (Oct. 10, 2000) at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. He was born in Glens Falls and lived there until moving to Irvington, N.J. in 1925. He also maintained a summer home at Lake Demmon, Bath.
Mr. Alexander was employed by the Board of Education, Irvington, N.J. from 1925 until retiring in 1964 as a Industrial Art Teacher and later Supervisor of the Industrial Arts Department at Irvington High School. He received his college degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, and his masters degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick in 1948.
He was a member of the Rotary Club of Irvington and the Irvington Historical Society.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah J. Hoogheem of Lakehurst, N.J. and two grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. at the Haeberle & Barth Colonial Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, corner of Vauxhall Rd., Union, N.J. Interment will take place at a later date at the Hornell Rural Cemetery.

BETTY J. TOLNER
WAYLAND - Betty J. Tolner, 73, of 11432 State Route 15 South, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2000) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
Betty was born Jan. 27, 1927 in Naples, a daughter of Louis and Ida (Schenk) Fox. She married Raymond Tolner on June 14, 1953 in Naples, he survives. Betty was the chef at the Miller House Restaurant in Perkinsville for 11 years, before that she and her husband owned and operated the Blue Goose Restaurant in Wayland for 25 years. Betty has been a member of the National Field Archery Association for many years. Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ray; two sons, Dave (Cece) Tolner of Dansville and Dan (Billie) Tolner of Wayland; one grandson, Raymond James Tolner of Wayland; two sisters, Gladys Hoose of Naples and Gerry (Thomas) Ryan of Canandaigua; one brother, Julian (Eva) Fox of Rochester; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

LAWRENCE A. ELWOOD
OCKLAWAHA, FLA. - Lawrence A. Elwood, 80, of Ocklawaha, Fla., died Tuesday (Oct. 10, 2000) at his residence.
Born in Hornell, he moved to Ocklawaha, Fla. 27 years ago. He was employed by Commercial Construction as an Engineering Draftsman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ocklawaha; American Legion Post #284; Life member of VFW Post #4493, Candler, Fla.; Hornell Local #1681; past president of Seneca and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, a member for 50 years, Graduate of University of New York, and a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army, Prisoner of War.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandy Graham of Ocklawaha, Fla., Dianne Evans of Kent, Wash., and Karen Sukow of Ocala, Fla.; a son, Larry Elwood of Tallahassee, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, Fla. 34478.

DOROTHY SPITULNIK
NEWTOWN, PA. - Dorothy Spitulnik of Newtown, Pa., died Tuesday (Oct. 10, 2000).
She was predeceased by her husband Benjamin.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Gail of Rochester; a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Barry Jablon of Holland, Pa.; grandchildren, Stacy, Aric (Karleen), Kevin (Trisha), and Jeffrey; a sister, Adele Baldinger of Scranton, Pa.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lionel and Marian Spencer of Delray Beach, Fla. and David and Emile Spitalnick of Hollywood, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. in the Temple Beth El Cemetery in Hornell. The family will receive friends on Friday only at 7 Erie Court, Hornell, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

ROCHESTER - Brendon S. Donlon, age 23, is survived by his parents, Mary and William Donlon; two brothers, Kevin (Sara Scofield) Donlon and Shannon Donlon; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially Leann Toeffel and Kevin McDermott. You are invited to bring a written memory or favorite photograph of Brendon for the family's memory book.

LOGAN JOHN ROBORDS
HORNELL - Logan John Robords, infant son of John and Kizzy Smith Robords of 155 Hornell St., was dead at birth Monday (Nov. 6, 2000) at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Surviving in addition to his parents are one sister, Kelsey Robords and one brother, Michael Robords both at home; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Christine Greunke of Fremont; maternal great grandfather, John Smith of Hornell; maternal great grandmother, Katherine Storm of Hornell; paternal grandparents, Kimberly Robords of Hornell and Charles (Janet) Robords of Howard; paternal great grandparents, John and Roxy Robords of Howard.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. this morning at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell. Rev. Philip Casterline officiated. Burial followed in Howard Cemetery.

WALTER FRIEND
LEESBURG, Fla. - Walter Friend, 74, of Leesburg, Fla., died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 2000).
Born in New Haven, Conn., he moved to Alfred in 1958. He was an Air Force Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a retired professor at the State University of New York at Alfred. He and his wife, Barbara, moved to Central Florida in 1985. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis Florida. Also a member of the University Lodge #944 F & AM, Kanakadea Chapter #626 O.E.S. both of Alfred and mid-Florida Lakes High - 12.
He was a retired volunteer fire fighter for A.E. Crandall Hook and Ladder of Alfred and Lake County Fire and Rescue in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Leesburg, Fla.; daughters, Cheryl Jensen of Geneva and Jacqueline Young of Andover; sons, Richard of Germany and Roger of Almond; his brother, Roger of Shelton, Conn.; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Union University Church in Alfred on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m.

CYNTHIA BOND BATES
WAYNE - Cynthia Bond Bates, 61, of Wayne, died Sunday (Nov. 5, 2000) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath following a long illness.
Born Nov. 30, 1938, in Watertown, Cynthia was the daughter of Richard and Muriel Bond of Sandy Creek. Cynthia was a graduate of Sandy Creek Central School, and Crouse-Irving Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse, where she was named Outstanding Student Nurse of her graduating class. She also studied at Geneseo State and Cortland State Colleges.
Cynthia began her nursing career at Stormont - Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kan., and included service at Mt. Carmel Hospital, Pittsburgh, Kan; Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Bath; and Founders Pavilion, Corning. In 1967, she began service at Haverling Central School, Bath, as home- school counselor; and in 1969 as school nurse - teacher at the Vernon E. Wightman Primary School, continuing until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the New York State and South Central New York School Nurse - Teachers Associations. Cynthia was recognized as a School Nurse of Distinction by the New York State Senate in 1992.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bath, where she served as Moderator of Deacons.
Cynthia loved nature, bluegrass music and walking the Finger Lakes Trail.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Attorney Larry D. Bates of Wayne; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Amy Hille Bates of Wayne; beloved daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Joseph Hope of Acworth, Ga.; and her loving sister, Nancy Bond of Fayetteville; her grandchildren, Jackson Kaylor Bates, James Will Hope, and Griffin Perrine Bates, were the lights of her life on this earth.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the LaMarche Funeral Home, Main St., Hammondsport. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Bath, with Rev. Virginia Murray officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a future date convenient to the family.
Cynthia was especially supportive of the Ecumenical Sunday Supper, c/o First Presbyterian Church, Bath; and the Bob Hope Parkinson Research Center, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Miami, Fla. 33136.

JAMES FRANCIS HANRAHAN
HORNELL - James Francis Hanrahan, 85, of 14 Wells St., Hornell, died Friday morning (November 3, 2000) at his home, following a brief illness.
Born in Olean on July 13, 1915, he was the son of Thomas & Alice (Whelan) Hanrahan. He was a 1938 graduate of St. Bonaventure University and was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific.
Jim was active in Hornell City Government and was third ward alderman from 1962-1965, and Hornell City Clerk from 1965-1966. He then became the assistant director of Urban Renewal until 1972, when he was appointed executive director. Jim retired from that position in 1977. He sat on the board of review assessment from 1979-1990.
He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, where he served as an usher and reader for many years. Jim had been a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, and also the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta (Donellen) Hanrahan; his son, Patrick T. Hanrahan; and his sister, Eleanor Murphy.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa (Rheinheimer)Hanrahan; two daughters, Sheila (Dennis) Kaplan and Mary Alice (Joseph) Schmidt; his sister, Dolores Lamb; his stepchildren, Joan Rheinheimer, Edward (Judy) Rheinheimer, John (Karen) Rheinheimer, James (Joanne) Rheinheimer, Richard (Linda) Rheinheimer, and Susan (Gary) Phillips; 21 grandchildren; nieces Joan (Bill) Loree, Mary Ann (John) Donovan; and nephew James (Kitty) Murphy.
The family of James Francis Hanrahan will receive friends today from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

LAVERN E. SCOTT
BELMONT - Lavern E. Scott, 65, of 5829 Tuckers Corners, died Friday, November 3, 2000 at Jones Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born August 3, 1935 in Belvidere, he was the son of Edward and Rose (Mastin) Scott. On February 24, 1968 in Belmont, he married the former Lucille E. Royce, who survives.
Mr. Scott had resided most of his life in the Belmont area, and had attended Belvidere and Belmont district schools. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater. For many years, he was an operating engineer with the L.C. Construction Co., retiring in 1995. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper.
Mr. Scott was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Belvidere and a member of the operating engineers union # 832 local of Rochester.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a step-son, Michael (Michele) Bidwell of Friendship; a daughter, Dixie Rose Scott of Belmont; a step-daughter, Deborah (Dwight) Ellwood of Wiscoy; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth (Vivian) Scott of Richburg, Walter (Janice) Scott of Belvidere, Ernest Scott of Friendship, Donald Scott of Bolivar and Jack Scott of Black Creek; three sisters, Helen (Harold) Peterson of Wellsville, Pearl Gelser of Belmont and Clara Harris of Angelica; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Mr. Scott was predeceased by three brothers, Harold Scott, Leon Scott and George Scott, and a sister, Mabel Scott.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today, where funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Elizabeth Groskoph of Allegany County Episcopal ministries will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont.

CAROLYN S. GUNIA
WEST SENECA - Carolyn S. Gunia, 75, of 1840 Center Road, died Saturday, November 4, 2000 at Buffalo General Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are under the direction of the J.W. Ember Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Belmont. A complete obituary will be published in the Monday edition.

SYLVESTER A. DANIELS
HORNELL - Sylvester A. "Babe" Daniels, 81, a lifelong Hornell resident, died Wednesday morning (Nov. 1, 2000) at McAuley Manor, following a brief illness.
Born in Hornell, July 19, 1919, he was the son of Dominick and Palma (Colamarino) Daniels. Babe was a graduate of St. Ann's School and later attended Hornell High School. He was a Veteran of the US Army during WWII, having served in Hawaii and the European Theater of Operations.
In 1946, he began his employment with the former Erie Railroad, being only the second brakeman hired following WWII. For nearly 40 years he worked as a brakeman and a conductor for the Erie Railroad, Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and Conrail.
Babe was a communicant of St. Ann's Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Carducci Lodge (Sons of Italy), Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 440. His life memberships included the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Hornell VFW. He was a 48-year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and a 45-year member of the United Transportation Union.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Antoinette Caruso, who died in 1993; his brothers, Joseph Daniels who died in 1998 and Anthony "Dan" Daniels who died in 1999.
Surviving are two brothers, Nicholas (Mary) Daniels of Hornell and Angelo (Joanne) Daniels of North Hornell; his nephew, Leonard (Kathy) Caruso of Hornell; his niece, JoAnn (Ronald) LaVerde of Hornell; his sister-in-law, Lucy Daniels of Hornell; several cousins and other nieces and nephews.
The family of Sylvester A. "Babe" Daniels will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where a prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either St. Ann's School, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, or to the Carducci Lodge (Sons of Italy) Building Fund, 70 Erie Ave., Hornell. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.

ELEANOR C. JANKOWSKI
YARDLEY, Pa. - Eleanor C. (nee Canty) Jankowski, 67, of Yardley, Pa., died Wednesday (Nov. 1, 2000) at her home in Lower Makefield.
Mrs. Jankowski was born in Hornell, and attended the University of Buffalo. She was a longtime resident of Lower Bucks County residing in Yardley, Pa., for the past 30 years. Mrs. Jankowski was employed with the Catholic Charities in Trenton, N.J. for 12 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish.
She was the loving mother of the late Kelly A. Jankowski and the beloved wife of Charles R. Jankowski for 45 years, who survives.
She is survived by her loving children, Karen Morrone and her husband, Drew, of Pipersville, Pa., Nancy Jankowski of Hamilton, N.J., Benjamin Jankowski and his wife, Brenda, of Holland, Pa. and Charles Jankowski Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Hayward, Calif.
She is the sister of John Canty, Patricia Curran, Shirley Bettinger, Nancy Douglas, Gerald Canty and Beatrice Harring.
She will also be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren, Kelly, Steven and Heather Foster, Kathryn and Alexandra Jankowski, Krista Morrone and Jarek and Alina Jankowski; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown, Pa. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may also call on Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

HORNELL - James F. Hanrahan, 85, of 14 Wells St., Hornell, died early this morning (Nov. 3, 2000) at his home, following a brief illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell.

SCOTT R. PRUTSMAN
BATH - Scott R. Prutsman, 28, of 624 Manor Village, Bath, passed away Thursday (Nov. 2, 2000) at the home of his parents, Dean L. and Peggy Whitsell Prutsman at 1404 Woodhull Road in Troupsburg, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell, Jan. 31, 1972, Scott was a 1990 graduate of Jasper-Troupsburg Central School, was formerly the manager of Harold's Army-Navy stores of Bath and Ithaca and was lastly employed at Suntrust Bank, Painter, Virginia.
He was a former member of the Troupsburg Fire Department and Ambulance Corps and Cheriton Virginia Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Prutsman of Prattsburgh; two sons, Derrick and Kyle Prutsman of Prattsburgh; his parents, Peggy L. and Dean Prutsman of Troupsburg; brothers, Todd Prutsman and Brian Prutsman, both of Troupsburg; his special friend, Rebecca Miller of Bath; one niece, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith and Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main Street, Woodhull, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m with Rev. Mark Wade officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Troupsburg.
Memorials will be received for the Troupsburg Volunteer Fire Department or Roswell Park Institute.

JANET MARIE "SQUEAK" ARNO
HORNELL - Janet "Squeak" Arno, 47, of 174 Madison Ave., died Thursday (Nov. 2, 2000) at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born in North Hornell, Oct. 28, 1953, a daughter of William and Marjorie Stone Charles, she had resided her entire life in Hartsville and Hornell. She was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1971.
She had been employed in the office at Air Vent Aluminum in Arkport.
Surviving are her children, Kari Arno of Horseheads, Aimee Arno, Brett Arno, Craig Arno and Byran Frost, all at home; her fiancee, Clayton Teator of Hornell; three sisters, Beverly (Larry) Powers of Canisteo, Rita Stewart of Canisteo and Sandra (Monty) Hayner of Florida; three brothers, Robert (Betty Lou) Charles of Canisteo, William Charles of Canisteo and Donald (Kim) Charles of Canisteo; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 7 p.m. with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo.

LILLIAN L. SCHNEIDER
FRIENDSHIP - Lillian L. Schneider, 88, of 11 1/2 East Water St. died Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) after a lengthy illness.
Born March 22, 1912 in the Town of Burns, she was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Wright Glover. On Dec. 5, 1932 in Swain, she married Carl H. Schneider who died March 16, 1993.
Mrs. Schneider had resided most of her life in the Friendship area. She had attended the Canaseraga school district and moved to the Friendship area in 1933. For several years she was employed at the Friendship Silk Mill and later was a clerk at both The Friendship Pharmacy and Schneider's Hardware in Friendship.
She had attended the Nile Community Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Duncan Chapter # 195 of Friendship; the Friendship Bridge Club; the Friendship Travelers Club and member and past secretary of the Wise Old Owls Camping Club of the Southern Tier of Western New York. She enjoyed camping and playing cards.
Surviving are three sons, Carl E. (Judy) Schneider of Friendship, LaVerne G. (Diane) Schneider of Rochester and James F. (Marian) Schneider of Friendship; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry (Pat) Glover of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Elizabeth Hendee of Binghamton, Winifred Coombs of Canaseraga and Marian Pierce of Avon; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six brothers, Harding Glover, Otto Glover, Floyd Glover, Glenn Glover, James Glover and Howard Glover; and three sisters, Neva Keough, Vida Glover and Gladys Simpson.
Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 4 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Friendship where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ralph and Elizabeth Groskoph of Allegany Co. Episcopal ministries officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery in Arkport.
Memorials may be made to the Friendship Little League Scholarship fund, c/o Kari Mancuso, RD # 2 Pigtail Rd., Friendship, N.Y. 14739 or the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 1284 French Rd., Depew, N.Y. 14043-4882.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Treusdell Funeral Home in Friendship.
