Mariamma George
Mariamma V. George, 65, of Houston, went to be with her Lord, October 18, 2003. She was born February 5, 1938 in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India. She married Rev. Dr. George P. Oommen. After graduating from high school, she came to the United States to continue her education. After her studies she and her husband returned to India for the Gospel work traveling thousands of miles for over 33 years in and around India. She was active member of Sharon Fellowship Church of Houston and Pathanapuram.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years George P. Oommen of Houston; children, Wilson P. & Susan George; Susan & Johnson Mathew; six grandchildren, Jasmine, Charley, Sam, Angel, Abigail and Andrial. Services were Saturday, October 25, at Woodforest Baptist Church with Rev. George Chacko, Rev. Koshy Joseph, and Rev. Dr. Joy P. Oommen officiating. She was laid to rest in San Jacinto Memorial Park.

William Aubrey Russell
Mr. William "Bill" Aubrey Russell, age 80, of Jacinto City, passed away October 18, 2003 after a long illness. Mr. Russell was born January 20, 1923 in Jefferson County, Alabama. He was a veteran of World War II with service in the U.S. Army. He owned a radio & television business in Jacinto City for 20 years. He taught electronics at Smiley High School and at LaPorte High School for a number of years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City. He was also active in Little League, Pony & Colt League baseball, managing and serving as an official. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Inez Russell of Jacinto City; son, William Brice Russell of Sugarland Texas; and daughters, Brenda Jean Knowles of Round Rock, Texas and Vicki Sue Riddell of Iuka, Mississippi; as well as grandchildren, Stephanie Amber Russell, Sherlyn Denise Ford, Michael McDaniel and Lavonia Lynn Martin, along with 3 great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Houston National Cemetery, Tuesday, Oct. 21 with military honors by the V.F.W. District 4 Memorial Team under the direction of Carter Funeral Home. Family wishes memorial be sent to Gideons International, P.O. Box 328, Galena Park, TX 77547 or Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City.

Nancy Minette Voorhies Keene
Mrs. Nancy Minette Voorhies Keene, 94, formerly of Pineville, Louisiana, passed away October 15, 2003. She was born in Effie, Louisiana to Abner & Josephine Haynes Voorhies. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Krider O. McCan and by her second husband Gene Keene, as well as by sons, K.I. McCan, Jr., Harvey Lee McCan, Phillip L. McCan, Jr. and by one daughter, Lillian Margie McCan.
She is survived by son & daughter-in -law, Samuel & Patricia McCan of Crosby, Texas ; and by daughter-in-law, Ruth McCan of Channelview, Texas. She is also leaves 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services were 11:00 a.m. Friday at Hixson Brothers Funeral Chapel in Pineville, Louisiana and was laid to rest in Campbell Cemetery in Center Point, Louisiana with Rev. Wayne Howell officiating. Local arrangements in Houston, by Carter Funeral Home.

Charlene Twila Shuttlesworth
Charlene Twila Shuttlesworth, 53, of Channelview, went to be with her Lord, October 7, 2003. She was born September 11, 1950 in Houston to Charles & Roberta Huenerberg. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Moore in 1995. She is survived by her husband of 3 years, Gerald "Pat" Shuttlesworth of Channelview; children, Shad Moore & Cathy Reneau of Channelview; Gerry & Judy Shuttlesworth of Crosby; Pastor Jason & Angie Shuttlesworth of Johnstown, Colorado; Deidra & Daniel Hill of Mt. Belvieu; and Melonie & James Davidson of Crosby, Texas; as well as grandchildren, Kaitlynn Hill, Daniel Hill, Jr., Carrie Griffin, Rebecca Shuttlesworth, Garrett Pat Shuttlesworth, Benjamin Shuttlesworth, Kyler Davidson, Jaina Davidson and Chelsea Williams.
Services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2003 at Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church, 402 Dell Dale Avenue, Channelview with Pastor Bobby Powell officiating. She was laid to rest in Ebenezer Cemetery, Woodville, Texas.

Calistro Rendon
Calistro Rendon, Jr., 41, of Houston, passed away October 3, 2003. Calistro Jr. was born June 18, 1962 in Lubbock, Texas to Calistro Sr. & Estella Rendon. He was preceded in death by his mother Estella earlier this year and by brothers & sisters, Joe Rendon, Paula Rodriguez, Juan Rendon, David Rendon, Manuel Rendon & Olga Rendon. He is survived by his son, Dominic Abrian Rendon and daughters, Melissa Ann Rendon and Christina Marie Rendon all of Houston; father, Calistro Rendon, Sr. of Houston; brothers, Jesse Rendon, Julio Rendon and wife Elizabeth, Abel Rendon and Eloy Rendon; sisters, Adelina Garza, Emma Ruiz, Yolanda Cavan and Josefina Brawner.
Services were held Monday, October 13, 2003 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Rev. Father Robert D. Carlson of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. He was laid to rest in San Jacinto Memorial Park.

Jake Moody
Jake Moody, Jr. age 79, of Houston, went to be with his Lord October 1, 2003. He was born December 13, 1923 in New Waverly, Texas to Jake & Ella Moody. He was a veteran of World War II with service in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist of North Channel where he & Vera were active in their Sunday School class and were faithful servants of the Lord in anything needed. He will be dearly missed by all whose life he touched.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vera Louise Moody of Houston; daughters & sons-in-law, Cathy & Floyd Martz of Lake Charles, LA. and Patty & Gene Seeley of San Antonio, TX; brother, Pete Moody Musgrove of Kellyville, Okla.; as well as by grandchildren, Joel, Donna & Jennifer; and 4 great-grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, October 4 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carey Trickey, of First Baptist of North Channel, officiating. He was laid to rest in Willis Cemetery, Willis, Texas.

J.R. Blanscet
J.R. Blanscet, 68, of Channelview, went to be with his Lord November 29, 2003. He was born May 31, 1935 in Ingleside, Texas to parents, Rev. & Mrs.N.F. Blanscet. J.R.served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of University of Houston, but his blood was Aggie Maroon. J.R. worked in education for 32 years retiring after 28 years in administration with Sheldon I.S.D. where he was known to many as "Mr.B". He was a member of the C.A. Fortner Masonic Lodge in Channelview and was a 36 year member of Memorial Baptist in Channelview where he served as deacon.
J.R. was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Heidi Kay Blanscet. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janel; daughter, Gaye Decker & husband Daren; sons, Kyle Blanscet, Gary Blanscet & wife Gail, and Chad Blanscet & wife Lori; by devoted grandchildren, Kelsey & Kristofer Blanscet, Katie & Jenny Blanscet,Kara, Hannah & Dane Decker and Clay Blanscet; as well as by brothers, Bennie, Jerry, Lawrence, and Joel Blanscet.
Services were Thurs day, December 4, 2003 at Memorial Baptist, 15720 Proctor, Channelview with Rev. John McGuire & C.M.Kelly officiating. He was laid to rest in Oakdale Cemetery in Daisetta, TX under the direction of Carter Funeral Home. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 37, Channelview 77530 in J.R.'s memory.

Jorge H. Latrache
Jorge H. Latrache, 81, of South Houston, formerly of Jacinto City, went home to be with his Lord on his birthday, November 24, 2003. He was born November 24, 1922 in the country of Palestine. He was raised in Mexico by parents Teodoro & Maria Latrache before coming to the United States. He was a retired Longshoreman where he had worked for 3-T's Stevedoring.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as by brothers, Teofilo Latrache and Juan Latrache. He is survived by his son, George Latrache, Jr. of Houston; daughters, Concepcion Jacobs of The Woodlands; Rosa Boutwell of Houston; and Mary Ochoa of Houston; and 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Leslie, Dominique, Joseph, Jordan, Naomi, Monica and Jake; and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Mackenzie.
A rosary and wake was recited Tuesday evening November 25, 2003 at Carter Funeral Chapel by Deacon Jerry Keulanik and a graveside service held November 26, 2003 in San Jacinto Memorial Park with Rev. Father Robert Carlson of Our Lady of Fatima officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Zelma Hazel Davis
Mrs. Zelma Hazel Davis, 80, of Houston, went to be with Her Lord November 14, 2003. She was born November 18, 1922 in Sylvester, Texas to parents Houston Elonzo & Florence Elizabeth Coursey Watson. She was retired from the Houston Police Department where she had worked as a warrant clerk. She was a 10 year member of Market Street Baptist Church.
Zelma was preceded in death by her late husband Lee Davis and son Ricky Davis. She is survived by sons & daughters-in-law, Bobby & Verl Crabb of Weatherford, Texas; William & Virginia Crabb of Houston; Gary Wayne & Kay Crabb of Pearland; and Craig & Tracy Haessly of Hull Daisetta, Texas; and one daughter & son-in-law, Terrie Lee & Bernard Schmitz of Houston; as well as by one sister, Theora Tepe of Waco, Texas and numerous grand- children and great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services were held Monday, November 17, 2003 in San Jacinto Memorial Park with Rev. Walt Snyder of Market Street Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Billie Mae Abbott
Billie Mae Abbott, 72, of Channelview, passed away November 1, 2003. She was born March 16, 1931 in Temple, Texas to James Willis & Eva Mae Folsom. She is survived by son & daughter-in-law, James E. & Sandy Turman; daughters & sons-in-law, Linda & Dale Dear; Patricia & James Wade; Carolyn & Larry Watson and Rita Wade; as well as 20 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held in North Zulch, Texas in Willow Hole Cemetery Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Gerald Michael Hooper, Jr.
Gerald Michael Hooper, Jr., 20, of Huntsville, Texas, formerly of Houston, passed away December 30, 2003 after a long illness. Gerald was born March 31, 1983 in Houston, Texas to Gerald & Barbara Hooper. He was preceded in death by mother, Barbara Dianne Huett Hooper and he is survived by father, Gerald Hooper Sr. of Wellsville, Kansas; sisters, Tina Michell Donham of Bastrop, Texas; Amy Caudle of Desoto, Kansas; and Debbie Moore of Wellsville, Kansas; brother, Adrian Webb of Humble; grandparents, Ashley Hughes of Channelview and Barbara Hughes of Alma, Arkansas; aunts & uncles, Michael & Candy Huett, Gloria & Charles Latour, Richard Huett and Brad & Melissa Huett. The family is planning a private memorial at a later date. Arrangements with Carter Funeral Home.

James Ivan Dornoff
James Ivan Dornoff, 63, of Houston, passed away December 27, 2003. Mr. Dornoff was born February 7, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio, son of Edward & Ettie Dornoff. He is survived by wife, Virginia R. Thomas; sons, James F. Dornoff of Pasadena;and Steve H. Dornoff of Custar, Ohio; sisters,Carolyn Bilyea of Ft.Worth; and Beverly Jellison of San Diego, California; as well as by 7 grandchildren, Danielle, Stephanie, Michelle, Steve Jr., Delores, Kendra and Quincy Clark; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial mass was held December 31, 2003 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rev. Robert D. Carlson as celebrant. Arrangements with Carter Funeral Home.

Kurt Thibodeaux
Kurt E. Thibodeaux, 43, of Channelview, was called by the Lord and carried by angels to Heaven on December 15, 2003. He was born in Church Point, Louisiana on August 21, 1960 to Nelda & Fernest Thibodeaux, Jr. He is survived by wife Suzanne Slusser Thibodeaux and beloved children, Romni, Danielle and Tyler. As well as by his mother, Nelda Briscoe Thibodeaux of Church Point, Louisiana; sister, Melissa Thibodeaux Wiggins and husband Dan Wiggins; his inlaws, Ed & Bonita Slusser, Kaylynn & Clay Wilkerson, Grant & Barbara Slusser, David Antle and Frank Van Wagner. Nephews, Nicolas Wiggins, Kendall Wilkerson, Colton Slusser, Dallas Slusser and a host of loving friends and relatives.
He moved to Channelview in 1986 and worked for Premier Polymer for many years until diagnosed with leukemia. He will forever be remembered and admired for his will to fight this fatal disease. A celebration of Kurt's life was held Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Burns officiating.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff of East Houston Regional, St. Joseph's Hospital and M.D. Anderson along with his lifelong pals for their prayer & unwavering support, Wemdell Guidry, Michael Matte and Pat Matte. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations can be made to M.D. Anderson, 1515 Holcombe Blvd. Houston TX 77030.

Dorothy Baldon
Mrs. Dorothy Baldon, 70, of Channelview, passed away December 10, 2003. She was born April 21, 1933 in Biloxi, Mississippi to James Walter & Hazel Louise Bennett. She married Harlan Baldon on April 3, 1950 and retired in 1990 from T.S.O. after 40 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Harlan M. Baldon of Channelview; daughter, Ronnie Lou Baldon also of Channelview; brothers & sisters, James Bennett & wife Kay of Houston; Hazel Louise Laboa & husband Gaylon of Channelview; Becky Broussard & husband Joey of Dayton, Texas and George Bennett & wife Dutchie of Channelview; She also leaves behind her beloved grandson, Gregory Baldon & wife, Tiffany and great-granddaughter, Brooke Baldon.
Services for Mrs. Baldon were held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Rev. Milton Koonce officiating. She was laid to rest in San Jacinto Memorial Park under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Delia R. Mendoza
Mrs. Delia R. Mendoza, 67, of Houston, passed away December 4, 2003. She was born April 27, 1936 in Kenedy, Texas to Bernardo & Jesusa Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by one son, Marcus Mendoza and by daughter, Alicia Mendoza. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 41 years, Madaleno G. Mendoza of Houston; son, Mario Mendoza, Marjil Mendoza, Madaleno Mendoza, Jr., and Mando Mendoza all of Houston; daughters, Maria Horton; Mariana Glover, and Marina Guerra also of Houston; as well as by brothers, Phillip Rodriguez of Sugarland, and Ysaias Rodriguez of Winter, Texas; sisters, Hilda Rodriguez and Eusebia Pesina both of Karnes City, Texas; and by grandchildren, Dallas, Vincent, Matthew, Jenny, Tiffany, Desirae, Kyra, Megan, Sarina, Melanie, Monica, Mallery, Hailey, Destiny, Misty, Esme, Diamond and Olivia.
Services were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at Carter's Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Plunk of Bandera Street Baptist officiating. She was laid to rest in the Chapel of the Pines Cemetery in Crosby, Texas under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
