Blanche Anna Aust, 103, of Torrington Towers Torrington
died Saturday Dec. 9 at Wolcott Hall. She was the wife of the late Otto Aust. Born Nov.5, 1903 in Staten Island NY, she was a long time Torrington resident. She was a retired cafeteria worker at Torrington High School
and a member of The First Congregational Church in Torrington and was one of the first residents at The Torrington Towers. She was also a long time worker at The Girl Scout Camp in Torrington.
She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth VanDeusen and her husband Louis, and Theresa Ethier, of Torrington and grandchildren Gail Doolittle, Cindi Lostritto, Karen VanDeusen, and Robert VanDeusen, Thomas and Joseph Ethier, and Linda Arigoni. She also leaves 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Dec. 13 at 10 AM at The First Congregational Church in Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Stanley J. Kowalski, 55, of 251 South Main St. Torrington
Stanley J. Kowalski, 55, passed away at his home in Torrington on December 2, 2006. He was born in New Britain on September 27, 1951, son of the late Zygmunt and Mary (Sikora) Kowalski. Before his retirement, he was employed by Ensign-Bickford in Simsbury. In recent years, he enjoyed officiating youth baseball games and volunteering at FISH Inc. in Torrington. He loved to read and was an avid fan of sports, especially the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his four children, Joshua, of Winsted, Sarah, of Farmington, and Matthew and Daniel, of New Hartford; and by a brother, John, his wife Monica, and their children. Stan will also be remembered and missed by many friends. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, at the Evangelical Baptist Church, 7 Winsted Rd., Torrington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to FISH Inc., 332 South Main St., P.O. Bo x 844, Torrington, CT 06790.

John J. Soltis Jr., 42, of 202 West Pearl Rd Torrington
died Monday Dec. 18, 2006. Born in Torrington October 14, 1964 son of Anita Laukaitis Soltis of Torrington and the late John J Soltis Sr., he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for CH Nickerson, and formerly worked for D&M Construction. He enjoyed NASCAR and redoing old tractors.
In addition to his mother, he leaves his fiance Linda Riberdy of Torrington and her son Normand Riberdy II and his wife Cassie of New Hartford and their children Marc and Sean. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday Dec 22 at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Constantine (Chet) Drozdenko, 87, of Torrington
died Thursday Dec. 14 2006. He was the husband of 55 years of Santa Ciesco Drozdenko. Born in Torrington Nov. 7, 1919 to Paul and Ethel Yargewicz Drozdenko, one of seven children, he attended Wetmore School and Torrington High, Class of 1939, graduating with honors and participating in football, track, and basketball, and was Captain of the football team in his senior year. He later attended photography school.
He was one of the original member of The Triangle Club in Torrington and was a WWII Army Veteran of the 30th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, and was awarded the Purple Heart. he also served in The National Guard. He was a retired machinist for The Torrington Company. He enjoyed his home, family, and photography.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Ronald Drozdenko and his wife Rita and Davis Drozdenko and his wife Linette, grandson Benjamin Drozdenko and granddaughter Ashley Nejaime. He also leaves a brother Paul Drozdenko.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Dec. 18 at 10:30 at Saint Peter's Church. Burial will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Olivia Gogolya, 81, of 152 Barton St Torrington
died Dec 9 2006. She was the wife of the late John S. Gogolya. She was a former employee of McCann's, Howards, and Jon Marie stores in Torrington.
She is survived by a son Peter Gogolya, his children Walter and Loralee, and she also leaves a sister Carmella Bushey. She was predeceased by brothers Ricardo and Frederick Vergaro

William "Rick" Reichert, 61, of 526 Park Ave. Torrington
died Monday Aug. 22 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of June (Hovey) Reichert. Born in Torrington May 4, 1944 son of the late William V. and Nellie (Truskauskas) Reichert, he was a former employee of The State of Connecticut at the Burlington Fish Hatchery. He served as an MP in The US Army from 1964 to 1966, and had belonged to The Burlington Men's Club.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and he loved to cook and collect cookbooks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Michael Reichert of Torrington and step mother Caroline Dondi Reichert and step brother Kenneth Reichert of Torrington and five nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday Aug 28 at 4:00 PM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 to4:00 PM.

Franz "Frank" Derwitsch, 75, of 76 Scoville St Torrington
died Sunday August 21 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of 52 years of Margaret (Maville) Derwitsch. Born Jan 13, 1930 in Yugoslavia, son of the late Mustafa and Elizabeth (Fischer) Derwitsch, he was a long time Torrington resident.
He was a retired screw machine operator at The Torrington Company.
He was an active member of the soccer community in Torrington and was one of the founders of Torrington Youth Soccer, and served as a team manager for several teams.
He was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church and was an avid fisherman, and he also made doll houses as a hobby. He also was instrumental in helping Bosnian Refugees settle in this area. He also was a former member of The Germania Singing Society.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons and two daughters, Frederic Derwitsch of Melbourne, FL, Richard Derwitsch of Winchester, and Frank J. Derwitsch of Torrington, Erica Tyer of Holden MA, and Heidi Bozak of Torrington, 7 grandchildren a great granddaughter. He also leaves two brothers, Adolph Derwitsch of Melbourne FL and Paul Derwitsch of Sarasota Fl, and sisters Elizabeth Ilic and Rose Reder of Torrington and Katherine Bailey of Augusta GA. He was predeceased by a sister Sofia Salamancha and a brother Jakob Derwitsch.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Aug 25 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church 837 Charles St Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM

Roger H. Anderson, 67, of 809 Lake Shore Dr Wildwood FL, formerly of Torrington died Dec. 24 at his home. He was the husband of Bernadette Gontkovic Anderson. Born in Torrington Feb. 10, 1939 son of the late Joseph and Virginia Price Anderson, he was a veteran of The US Army. He was a retired salesman.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Greenwoods Country Club and The Veneta Club.
In addition to his wife, he leaves sons Mark Anderson of Union City NJ, Scott Anderson of Boston MA, Keith Anderson and wife Michelle of Autobahn PA, and a daughter Kristene Wilcox and husband Justin of Chesapeake VA and 7 grandchildren. He also leaves brothers James Anderson of Northfield and Charles Anderson of Torrington and a sister Charlotte Gables of Winsted.

Julia B. Turina, 91, of Torrington, died, Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Laurel Hill Healthcare in Winsted. She was the wife of the late Francis Turina. She was born in New Hartford, CT April 19, 1915, the daughter of the late Angelo and Augusta (Saletti) Bonini and had lived in Torrington all her life. Prior to her retirement, Julia worked for the Fitzgerald Manufacturing Company and later retired from the Torrington Company. She was a communicant of St. Peter Church, a member of St. Anne's Society and the Sullivian Senior Center. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 9a.m. at St. Peters Church in Torrington with burial following at New St. Francis Cemetery. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Henry G. "Rip" Rougeot, 79, of 88 Dorothy Dr Torrington died Friday Jan. 5 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Springfield MA. He was the husband of 53 years of Michelina Scifo Rougeot. Born in Torrington Feb. 25, 1927 son of the late Henry J. and Louise Chatelot Rougeot. He served in The US Navy during WWII and was a member of the original crew of The USS Midway.
He retired as a Captain from The Torrington Fire Dept. after 37 years of service.
He enjoyed Summers at Tyler Lake and Winters in Florida. He was an avid golfer and was a member of St Peter's Holy Name Society, Torrington Lodge of Elks, Eastwoods Retiree's Golf League, The Post Office Golf League, and he was a member of Torrington High School State Championship Basketball Team in 1944. He was a pitcher in the AAA Pittsburgh Pirates System
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Paul Rougeot and Henry "Chip" Rougeot Jr and his wife Elizabeth of Torrington and daughter Janice Tullock and husband Fred of Harwinton. He also leaves a brother Roger Rougeot and sisters Doris DiLaurenzio and Marion Rougeot of Torrington. He was predeceased by a sister Lorraine LaRocco.

Gertrude Arckless, 85, formerly of Lois St. Torrington died Dec. 29, 2006 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late William Arckless. Born March 29 1921 in London England daughter of the late Leonard and Amelia Joyce, she was a long time Torrington resident.
She leaves grandsons Scott and Robert Barnsby and great grandchildren Cecilia and William Barnsby and a brother Norman Joyce and sister Jean Shellchock. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Barnsby.
Private burial services are at the convenience of the family.

Paul Chause, 66, formerly of Millard St Torrington
died Tuesday March 30 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in Torrington, April 28, 1937 he was the son of the late William Chause Sr and Natalie (Przepiorski) Chause. He was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Tech.
He served in The US AF in the Korean era, serving in Germany.
He was a Communicant of Saint Mary's Church.
He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth LaFountain and her husband Garfield of Santa Rosa CA and a brother in law, Francis Cardello of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Diane Cardello and Theresa Ricci and a brother William Chause Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 3 at 10 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Mary's Church for a Mass at 10:30. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 PM.

died Sunday March 28, 2004. He was the husband of Allison (Lord) Weingart. Born in Torrington, Jan 15, 1968, son of William Weingart and Sandra (Bottass) Heim of Torrington, he attended Torrington schools and was a graduate of Wamogo High, class of 1986. He was employed by Supreme Industries in Torrington, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves a brother, Peter J. Andrighetti of Goshen, and his grandmothers, Rhea Bottass of Torrington and Shirley Daley of California, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

James Fallon, 83, of Torrington
died Thursday May 13. He was the husband of the late Marie Savapoulos Fallon. Born in Hartford March 31, 1921 son of the late Joseph and Mary (Leach) Fallon, he was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a retired truck driver, having worked at EJ Kelley, O& G Industries, and Timex, and was Union Steward at O&G and Timex.
He was an avid boater, and was a member of The Waterbury Power Squadron, The Sons of Italy, and Torrington Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his long time companion Laurie Abbott of Torrington and several nieces and nephews.

Grace Sullivan, 75, formerly of Sunrise Dr in Torrington
died Wednesday May 12 at Cooks- Willow in Plymouth. She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Sullivan.
Born in Torrington, Aug. 7, 1928 daughter of the late Harold and Beulah (French) Osterhout, she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was also a former employee of Torrington Manufacturing Co and Hendey Machine.
She was an avid gardener, bowler and softball player, and was a volunteer for Holly's Dream in Torrington and was a member of The Sullivan Senior Center.
She is survived by her son, Thomas W. Sullivan and his wife Judie of Thomaston, and grandchildren Robert Jones and Rhonda Mulville, and four great grandchildren. She also leaves three brothers, Oakley Osterhout of Florida, William Osterhout of Mass., and Dennis Osterhout of Torrington. She was predeceased by a brother Howard Osterhout.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 18 at 11 Am at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Rev. James Stirling III Pastor of First Congregational Church in Plymouth officiating. Burial will follow at New St Francis Cemetery in Torrington. Tania Barakat Veleber, 35, of Siegas Rd in Burlington
died Tuesday May 11. She was the wife of Douglas E. Veleber. Born in Beirut, Feb. 24, 1969 daughter of Maurice and Ninette (Noujaim) Barakat of Torrington, she moved to Torrington in 1977. She was a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1987 and had attended Central Connecticut State College.
She was employed in the Insurance Industry for many years and had most recently worked for Saint Maron's Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she leaves two brothers, Rabih Barakat and his wife Lydia of Woodbridge and Teddy Barakat of Los Angeles, and her mother and father in law, Ruth Veleber of Chesire and Richard Veleber of Venice Fl, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Janet M. Lucas, 62, of 6 Ivy Pass Harwinton died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at home. Born in Torrington, March 24, 1944 daughter of the late John J Lucas Sr and Mary Ann Kozlak Lucas, she graduated from Sacred Heart School, Torrington High, and Albertus Magnus College.
She was employed as a trust officer in the banking industry and later worked for the Office of the Treasurer for The State of Connecticut.
She is survived by two brothers, John J Lucas Jr and his wife Diane of Torrington and James Lucas and his wife Leslie of Harwinton, several nieces and nephews. Private services are at the convenience of the family. Born March 11, 1923 daughter of the late Nick and Alice Jordan Doyle, she was a former employee of Beckton Dickinson and Hitchcock Chair. She is survived by two sons, Karl Graziani Sr of Florida and Paul Graziani of Uncasville, grandchildren Karl Graziani Jr and Sheree Calabrese of Torrington and gr. grandson Frank Nicholas. Graveside Services will be held on Monday Jan.22 at Hillside Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

Anna Cattey, 85, of 211 Calhoun Street Torrington
died Thursday Feb. 24 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late Ernest J. Cattey. Born in Torrington March 20, 1919 daughter of the late Stanley and Dora (Gasunas) Skrabulis, she was a retired employee of The Torrington Company. She was a member of The Sullivan Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards,, and was also a Communicant of Saint Francis Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Cattey of Torrington and a grandson Eric Cattey of Tempe AZ, and her sister, Helen Cracco and her husband Nevio also of Torrington.
She was predeceased by her son, Ernest Cattey Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Feb. 28 at 10:30 at Saint Francis Church. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington on Monday from 9-10 AM.
