Susan Nase Gorr, 64, of 66 Chatam Lane Torrington
died Saturday March 6 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. She was the wife of the late Ronald James Gorr. Born in Thomaston Dec. 22, 1939, she attended Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing. She was a LPN and had worked at Chesire Convalescent Home, Meriden-Wallingford Convalsecent Home and Valerie Manor. Most recently she was employed by The State of Connecticut DMR in Torrington.
She leaves beheind two children, Ronna Gorr Gero and Kurt Gorr of Torrington and 5 grandchildren, Kyle, Bryan, and Aundraya Gero and Lucas and Matthew Gorr, and a brother Sherwood Nase of Arlington VT and sister Barbara Buttafuso of Vernon.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 11 at 10:30 at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. Friends may cal at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM.

Albert "Red" Harrison, 74, of Harrison Rd New Hartford
died Saturday March 6 at Adam's House. Born in New Hartford Aug. 9, 1929 he was the son of the late Charles and Nina (Twining) Harrison. He was employed by The Register Citizen for many years.
He is survived by his son, Gordon Harrison and his companion Gail Knox of Torrington and a daughter Karen Harrison and her companion Paul Tirpak of Canaan, and a brother Lyman Harrison of New Hartford, and four sisters, Margaret Huxley of Burville, Lucretia Huxley and her husband Walter of Torrington, Josephine Seitz of Winsted, and Mary Jane Nuhn and her husband Gary of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Floyd Harrison.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 2 PM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

Josephine Seitz, 67, of 232 Torringford St. Winsted
died Monday April 12 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Seitz. Born in New Hartford Jan 4, 1937 daughter of the late Charles and Nina (Twining) Harrison, she was employed as a home health aid for Charter Oak Services in Torrington.
She is survived by two sons, William Seitz of New Hartford and Floyd Harrison and his wife Kelly of New Hartford, and a granddaughter Rachel Harrison. She also leaves a brother Lyman Harrsion of New Hartford and three sisters, Margaret Huxley of Burrville, Lucretia Huxley and her husband Walter of Torrington, and Mary Jane Nuhn and her husband Gary of Torrington, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Floyd Harrison and Albert "Red" Harrison.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon ave. Torrington. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Winsted. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.

Domenic N. "Doc" DiLaurenzio, 82, of Dorothy Dr. Torrington
died Saturday April 10, 2004 at Valerie Manor in Torrington. He was the husband of Eunice (Amutice) DiLaurenzio. Born in Torrington Oct. 23, 1921 son of the late Louis and Filomena (D'Angelo) DiLaurenzio, he was a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1941 and Bryant College Class of 1949. He served in The US Coast Guard during WWII.
He was employed by The Hayden Mfg. Co and later The Torrington Company, retiring as Fleet Manager in 1986.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Greenwoods Country Club, and Eastwoods Country Club, and was also a member of Torrington Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter and son in law, Joyce and James McKenna Jr of Torrington and grandchildren James McKenna III, Sara Conopask, and Meghan McKenna.
He also leaves a sister Julia DiLaurenzio and a sister in law, Josephine DiLaurenzio of Torrington. He was predeceased by a brother Hugo DiLaurenzio.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 14 at 9:15 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Immaculate Heart Church in Harwinton for a Mass at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM.

William O Hammond Jr., 68, of Hutchinson Island Florida
formerly a Torrington resident, died April 2, 2004 at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart FL. He was the husband of 48 years of Ellen Hammond.
Born in Torrington, he lived on Hutchinson Island for the last 10 years. He served in The US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed as a truck driver in Connecticut and recently worked at Atlantic golf Carts in Port St. Lucie. He was a member of American Legion Post 318 and Elks Lodge in Port St Lucie and Torrington.
In addition to his wife he leaves two daughters, Cynthia Bruno, and Robin Goff of Torrington and two sons, William O. Hammond III of Torrington and Thomas Hammond of Canaan, and a sister Holly Fisher of Enfield, and 6 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday April 16 at 1 PM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington with Rev. Michael Ambrose Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating, Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Hillside Cemetery.

Mary C. Greene, 94, formerly of Portland Maine
died Saturday Feb. 12 at Litchfield Woods in Torrington CT. Born in Roundstone Ireland, July 31, 1910 daughter of the late Patrick J, and Mary A. (Connolly) Greene, she grew up in Portland and attended parochial schools there.
she was employed as a bookkeeper for many years at A&P Stores, Danforth White Company, and the Maine State School for the Blind.
She was a member of The Maine Democratic Party and The Irish American Club. she enjoyed working as a volunteer at The Good Cause Thrift Shop in Portland. She loved traveling and trips with Portland Recreation Department, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a sister -in-law, Patricia Greene of California, six nieces and three nephews: Denise Calkins and Stephanie Delaney of Torrington,, Alysan D. Childs of Texas, Eileen Bezouska, Stephen Greene and Patrick Greene of California, Gerrie and Joe Griffin of Illinois, and Mary Jakmec of Kentucky, 9 great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday Feb. 19 at St Pious Church in Portland at 10 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in south Portland. Friends may call at The Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home 172 State St Portland on Saturday prior to the Mass from 9 AM,

James A. Cruikshank, 61, of 380 Niles Rd. New Hartford
died Wednesday Feb 9 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was born in New Marlborough MA. Nov. 17, 1943 son of Anna (Hatala) Cruikshank of Sheffield MA and the late Harold Cruikshank. He served in The USAF from 1963 to 1967.
He worked as a truck driver for Unity Transport in Plainville.
He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and was a member of the Colebrook Gun Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa Cruikshank of Torrington and Heather Cruikshank of Winsted, and granddaughters Mackenzie Seymour and Danielle Jacobs. He also leaves a sister Deborah Frost of Sheffield MA and a brother Harold Cruikshank of Daytona Beach FL, and two 12 brothers, John and Jack Cruikshank. Also surviving are several nieces and a great nephew.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday Feb. 15 at 10:30 AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will be at Forest View Cemetery in the Spring. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

Arthur J. Odenwaelder Jr., 79, of 387 West Side Pond Rd Goshen
died Feb. 8 at Valerie Manor. He was the husband of the late Mary T. (Seitz) Odenwaelder. Born July 4, 1925 son of the late Arthur J. and Amalia (Geshwandtner) Odenwaelder, he was a life time Goshen resident, and a retired dairy farmer.
He is survived by his son Arthur J Odenwaelder III and his wife Julie of Goshen and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Peter D. Odenwaelder.
Private Services with burial at Goshen Center Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions can be made to The Goshen Volunteer Fire Dept.

Douglas J. Owens, Sr. 36, of 243 Westside Rd Torrington
died June 1, 2005. Born in Torrington Oct 31, 1968 son of Duel and Donna (Sugerak) Owens of Torrington, he was a graduate of OWTS class of 1986. He was a member of the National Honor Society and also recipient of The Electrical Shop Award at OWTS and was in Who's Who of America. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed cooking.
He was employed by Select Energy in Bristol and had been employed by Semac Electric.
In addition to his parents, he leaves his children Douglas J Owens Jr of Torrington and Sarah Ashley Owens and Bethany Owens of Warren, and his companion Cheryl Nivolo of Torrington. He also leaves brothers Duel Owens Jr of Vinton VA and David Owens of Harwinton, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

William H. Miller, 76, of 195 Torringford St
died May 28, 2005 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of 31 years of Margaret (Pont) Miller. Born in Torrington November 18, 1928 son of the late Simon and Mabel (Newkirk) Miller, he was a Torrington High School graduate, Class of 1946. He lived in the Torrington, Winchester, Norfolk area all of his life.
He was employed by The Southern New England Telephone Company for over 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Torrington
As a young man, he performed as a drummer in local orchestras and later entertained at family gatherings with the harmonica. He enjoyed painting nature scenes in watercolor and took pride in working on home projects.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman, conservationist, and hunter. He was an accomplished fly fisherman who tied his own flies and was known and respected for his knowledge of wildlife and nature. He was Past President of The Torrington Fish and Game Club and The Norfolk Trout Club. He enjoyed gardening, camping, boating,, and family gatherings. As a young man, he performed as a drummer in local orchestras and played the harmonica. He also enjoyed painting nature scenes in watercolor and took pride in working on home projects.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and two daughters, William A. Miller and his wife Linda of Winchester, Susan Seaback and her husband Michael of New Hartford, and Patricia Rocco and her husband Peter of Barkhamsted, and six grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Bette McLeod and her husband Richard of Torrington and several loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Robert C. Bayette, 71, of 17 Bridle Circle Torrington
died Friday May 27 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Rita (Menegus) Bayette. Born Jan 1, 1934 in Hartford son of the late Mabel Bayette, he served in the US Army during Korea. He was employed by SNET as a technician, retiring in 1989.
He was an active coach for POP WARNER Midget Football for 17 years, coaching many youths during his time and was often called "Coach" wherever he went. He was inducted into the Torrington High School Hall of Fame in 2004.
He was a member of Torrington Elks Lodge #372, The Knights of Columbus, The Germania Singing Society, and Torrington Fish and Game, and was a Communicant of Saint Francis Church. He loved being with his grandchildren, playing cards and teaching them to fish. He was an avid sports fan and diligently followed High School sports, football being his favorite. He was known for his Irish sense of humor and constant good nature, and was loved by all.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert and James Bayette of Torrington and Gerald Bayette of Bath New Hampshire, and two daughters, Ann Marie Peters of Harwinton and Christine Moscarillo of New Hartford, several grandchildren and his sister Claire Sclafani and brother Edward Bayette of Torrington.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 31 at 10:00 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 10:30. Burial will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Donna Lynn (Seitz) Bochicchio of Harwinton
died Wednesday June 15. She was born July 27, 1963 daughter of Irma (Murelli) Seitz and the late Karl G. Seitz.
In addition to her mother, she leaves her two children Michael Bochicchio III and Karlyn Bochicchio. She also leaves her brothers and sisters in law, Karl and Anna Seitz, Jeff and Patti Seitz, and Gene and Cindy Seitz. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Dawn Seitz, Heidi Seitz Barker, Ashley Seitz, Michael Wilusz and Ethan and Erica Seitz and a great nephew Dylan Barker.

Joyce Ann Vien, 69, of Torrington
died June 12, 2005 at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
She was born in Rutland, Vermont on November 24, 1935, daughter of the late Selina Pettibone of Clearwater, Florida, and the late Joseph Brown of Fair Haven, Vermont.
Ms. Vien was employed with Aerospace in Bantom, Connecticut for over 20 years, which went hand in hand with her favorite hobby – sewing. She was praised by many for her flawless and exceptional workmanship shown on many bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, dresses for the mother of the bride and groom, and formal evening wear for Miss USA contestants. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and ice skating on TV. She loved to bake and cook, and her pumpkin bars and pot roast will be missed by many, but she leaves behind many loving, happy memories.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Vien of Texas, her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Sally Brown of Georgia, her step-father, John Pettibone of Vermont, her aunt and uncle, Leo and Vivian Kucharski of Connecticut, her aunt and uncle, Halsey and Carol VanBuren of Virginia, three half sisters, two half brothers, one grandson, one granddaughter, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and she also leaves behind many very special friends.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Martinez, her son, Joseph Vien, her sister, Betty Brown, her mother Selina Pettibone, and her father, Joseph Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make contributions to the charity of your choice.

Anna Kunkiewicz Amoroso, 93, formerly of Washington Ave. Torrington
died Tuesday June 7 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a several year stay at Haven Health Care. She was the wife of the late James Amoroso Sr. Born in Torrington Sept. 13, 1911 one of 11 children daughter of the late Anthony and Wincella Kunkiewicz. The most important things in her life were her family and her store Amoroso Furniture which she co-owned.
She is survived by three children, Evelyn Clark of Harwinton, James Amoroso Jr. of Torrington, and Anthony E. Amoroso of Winsted, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

William Torson, 86, formerly of Meadowview Dr. Torrington
died Wed, March 3 at The Masonic Home and Hospital in Wallingford. He was the husband of Martha (Vollers) Torson. Born Nov 11, 1917 son of the late Victor and Maria (Anderson) Torson, he was Director of Maintenance of Building and Grounds for The Torrington Board of Education for 35 years.
He was a member of The Masons, Seneca Lodge # 55 and also The Redmen.
In addition to his wife, he leaves grandchildren Deborah Gallagher and her husband Kevin,and Marcia Cady of Chesire, Karen Cady of Milford, and Peter Cady and his wife Karen of Monroe, and a brother Edward Torson of Torrington and 8 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter Sally Ann Cady and brothers Harry, Albert, and Charles "Kelley" Torson and sisters Mary Wasilonski and Helen Eschenbrenner.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 8 at 11:00 AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington with Rev. Ellen Tillotson Pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 PM.

Garnet Benedict Janssen, 96, of Norfolk
died Monday March 1 in New Milford. She was the widow of the late Louis A Janssen. Born in Torrington, Sept. 27, 1907 she was the daughter of the late Albert and Fannie (Bowns) Benedict. She was the last of eleven children, and was also predeceased by her identical twin Ruby Benedict Sheehan.
She was employed as a waitress for many years, and was a 50 year plus member of The First Congregational Church in Torrington. She is survived by two sons, Frank A. Janssen of Norfolk and Robert L. "Boober" Janssen and his wife Peg of Naples, FL, formerly of Torrington and New Milford.She also leaves a grandson Steven Janssen of Norfolk and granddaughters Denise Janssen Mariconda of New Milford and Marjorie Janssen Oram of South Carolina, and four great grandsons, Zachary Mariconda, and Raymond, Michael, and Tyler Oram.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 6 at Noon at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-12, prior to the service.

Charles Janssen, 71, of Springdale PA,
Charles Janssen, 71, of Springdale PA, died Friday Jan. 19 at his home following a long battle with cancer. Born in Torrington son of the late Louis B. and Marion (Fowler) Janssen he lived most of his life in the area.
He attended local schools, Waterbury State Technical College and was a graduate of the Connecticut State Police Academy. He was a veteran of The US Air Force. He retired from The Torrington Company with 39 years of service. He also spent 45 years with The Connecticut State Police as an Auxiliary Trooper and was recognized by The General assembly as well as The Governor for his services. He was also a Police Officer for the towns of Sharon and New Hartford. He was active in local sports and was playermanager for Dick's Restaurant Flag Football Team. Golf and The NY Giants were also a huge part of his life. He was a member and treasurer of The Torrington Company Foreman's Club, member of The CT State Police Academy Alumni Assoc., Sharon Fire Department, Northwest Rod and Gun Club and Springdale Pa Rod and Gun Club and Hill Top Golf League in Springdale. He is survived by his wife Saundra (Detman) Janssen of Springdale, three stepchildren,Denise Qureski of Boca Raton FL, Richard Stormont of Charlotte NC and Ranette Stormont of Brooklyn NY a brother Edward Janssen of Torrington and half sister Marjory Janssen of Saratoga NY, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Bernard Janssen.

Isabella Beecher,89 of Torrington
died Monday March 1 in Farmington. She was the wife of the late Donald Beecher. Born in Torrington May 18, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Barnes) O'Heron. She was a life long Torrington resident and had also lived at The Village Gate in Farmington. She was formerly employed at Sears-Roebuck in Torrington and at The Torrington Creamery, and later was retired from Connecticut General Life Insurance.
She was active with Torrington Civic Players and The Torrington Community Theater, and was a volunteer at The Sullivan Senior Center, Literacy Volunteers of America and was a 50 year member of The Winchester Grange, and she was a lifelong member of Saint Francis Church.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Beecher and his wife Patricia of West Goshen and D. Wayne Beecher and his wife Noreen of Syracuse NY, and three daughters, Donna Zuffelato and her husband Robert of Westerly RI, Margaret Beecher-Hlavacek and her husband James of Torrington, and Debra Pasquale and her husband Peter of Farmington, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 4 at 10:15 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Francis Church 160 Main St Torrington for a Mass at 11 AM. Burial will be in Winchester Center Cemetery in the Spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.
