Edward F. Higgins, Sr.
Edward F. Higgins, Sr. 84, of 755 Riverside Ave. Torrington died Sunday Dec. 14 following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Jean Rebillard Higgins. Born in Torrington March 25, 1919 he was employed by The Associated Press prior to the War. He served in The US Navy during WWII aboard the destroyer The USS Naifeh, serving in the northern and southern Pacific.
He later was employed as a manager for Anaconda American Brass for 35 years.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Egremont Country Club, and he was a course champion one year. He was also a member of Torrington Elks Lodge.
He is survived by two sons, Edward F. Higgins Jr and his wife Renate, and Christopher Higgins, and a daughter Susan Higgins, all of Torrington, six grandchidlren and four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Joanne Higgins.
Private Funeral Services with burial at Hillside Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

W. Charles "Buster" Dean, 73, of 215 Linton St Torrington
died Dec. 10 at Haven health care following a long illness. He was the husband of DeLyce (Hargis) Dean. Born in Goshen Dec. 12, 1929 son of the late Henry and Eva (Duval ) Dean, he spent most of his life in Torrington.
He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of The Operating Engineers Local 478 in Hamden for 41 years.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Torrington and he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Charles Dean of Waterbury, daughters Joanne Adanosky of Waterbury and Elaine Pettit of Oakville, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother and sister, Edward and Laura Bushey of Torrington.
He was predeceased by his 1st wife Joan Ransom Dean and two sons, Robert Thomas Dean and Wayne John Dean.
A Memorial Service will be held at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington on Saturday Dec. 13 at 11 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9-11 AM.

Charles A. Bado, 49, of 32 Blinkoff Court Torrington
died Friday Dec. 6 at his home. He was the husband of Denise (Laigle) Bado. Born in Torrington May 29, 1954 son of the late Minus and Dora (Marello) Bado, he was a graduate of Torrington High School Class of 1972 and also attended Northwestern Connecticut Community College receiving and Associate Degree in Environmental Science.
He was employed by The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and played softball. He was a member of The Veneta Club and The Foresters.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son Charles L. Bado of Torrington and two brothers, Robert Bado and his wife Gail of Burke VA, and John Bado and his wife Janice of Torrington, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday Dec. 9 at 9:45 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Peter's Church for a Mass at 10:30. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday Evening from 5 to 8.

Thomas W. Butts, 42, of 63 Evans St. Torrington
died Tuesday Feb. 10 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Torrington April 12, 1961 son of the late Willis T. and Dorothy (Ryder) Butts. He was most recently employed by Rand Whitney in Newtown and had also worked for Stone Container in Torrington and The Wheeler Group in Winsted. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and was a Dart Champion. He was also an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Butts of Torrington and six sisters, Mary Schwartz and her husband Michael of Fort Lauderdale FL, Dorothy Koczur of Torrington, Linda McLain and her husband Kevin of Terryville, Michelle Leister and her husband Michael of Manchester, Sharon Faunce and her husband Michael of Rochester MN, and Cathy Betts and her husband Bruce of Harwinton.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Feb 12 at 8:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 9 AM. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.

Willis T. Butts, 79, of 92 High Street Torrington
died Monday Dec. 23 at his home. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Ryder ) Butts who died March 2002. Born in Torrington June 24, 1923 son of the late Thomas and Mary (DeFaite) Butts and was a graduate of Torrington High School Class of 1942. He was the first and only captain of theTorrington High School Hockey Team. He served in The US Navy during WWII as an Aviation Metalsmith-1st Class, serving from 1943-1946.
He was a foreman at The Needle Division of The Torrington Company before his retirement, and later worked as a foreman at Howmet Industries.
He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Butts of Torrington, and six daughters, Mary Schwartz and her husband Michael of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dorothy Koczur of Torrington, Linda McLain and her husband Kevin of Terryville, Michelle Leister and her husband Michael of Manchester, Sharon Faunce and her husband Michael of Rochester, MN and Cathy Betts and her husband Bruce of Harwinton, and nine grandchildren.

Henry Joseph Dickinson III, 44, of 451 Harwinton Ave Torrington
died Monday Dec 30 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a struggle with cancer. He was the husband of Helen (Symmons) Dickinson. Born in Torrington Jan 14, 1958 son of Henry Jr and Virginia (Cattey) Dickinson of Torrington, he attended local schools. He was formerly employed at Berkshire Fork Lift, and he was involved with stock car racing for 30 years.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter Angel Dickinson and a step son Robert Groman and a step daughter Elizabeth DeAngelo, all of Torrington. He also leaves a sister Rose Dickinson of Torrington and two brothers, Walter Dickinson of Torrington and John Dickinson of Brookfield, and a grandson, several nieces and nephews.

Paul H. Scoville, 74, of 401 Essex Court Torrington and Palm Bay, Florida
died Friday Dec. 20 at Valerie Manor. He was the husband for 51 years of June (Dahlen) Scoville. Born in Torrington March 29, 1928, son of the late Arnold Scoville and Prudence (Cowell) Scoville Peck, he was a graduate of The University of Connecticut. He had also served in The US Marine Corps. A Master Plumber, he was President of Scoville Plumbing and Heating in Torrington. He became owner of Arnold Scoville Plumbing and Heating in 1965, and through his entrepreneurial skills, he built the business into one of Litchfield Counties largest Plumbing and Heating Contractors.
He was a member of The Northwest Connecticut Plumbing Contractor's Assoc. he was a member and former Board Member of Torrington Country Club, and was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Torrington Lodge of Elks. He was also a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, and travel, and entertaining family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Thomas P. Scoville of Torrington, and four daughters, Pamela Crouse of Phillipsburg, NJ, Judith Raymond and Diane Anzellotti of Torrington, and Paula Scoville of Canton, and nine grandchildren. He also leaves a sister Mary Keagan of West Hartford and an uncle John Cowell of Farmington, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Dec 23 at 11:00 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Rev. Ellen Tillotson Pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. Christopher Baumann, 35, of 224 Main St. Oakville
died Sunday Feb. 8 at his home. He was born in Queens NY March 26, 1968 son of Carol (Huempfner) Baumann of Goshen and the late Alfred Baumann. He attended Goshen Center School and was a graduate of Wamogo High Class of 1986. He received his BA from WESCONN in English in 1995.
He served in The US Navy during The Persian Gulf Crisis, as a 3rd Class Fire Control Officer.
He was employed as an Editorial Assistant for Fine Woodworking Magazine.
He enjoyed woodworking and home improvement, and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his mother Carol Baumann of Goshen and two sisters, Barbara Baumann of Bedminster NJ and Lisa Wolfe and her husband Anthony and their daughters Caroline and Eva of Dallastown PA.

Wendy M.C. Perlotto, 53, of Torcon Dr. Torrington
died Thursday Jan. 22, 2004 at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of Peter Perlotto. She was born in Watertown Ct Sept. 12, 1950 daughter of the late Benson McGhee and Frances McGhee Moran.
She was employed as a private nurses assistant in Litchfield County for many years.
In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, Robert McGhee and his partner Matt Boucher of Bridgeport, Terry Christiano and his wife Aubrey, and Gary Christiano and his wife Michele, of Torrington, and four stepchildren, Donna Caputi of Harwinton, Robin Gawrych of Torrington, Deirdre Cusati of Winchester, and Thomas Perlotto of Torrington. She also leaves two brothers, Gary McGhee of Virginia Beach VA and Evan Moran of Norfolk, and two sisters, Deborah Vega of New London and Holly Woodruff of North Granby, and several grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday Jan 26 at 10 AM at Center Congregational Church.

Modesto Pesce, 70, of 295 Oak Ave. Torrington
died Saturday Aug 14 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Jane (Oakley) Pesce. Born in Torrington Aug. 18, 1933 he was the son of the late Anello and Inez (Strona) Pesce. He was a Veteran of The US Army.
He was employed by Plumb and Atwood Company for over 42 years.
His hobby since childhood was racing pigeons.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son Vernon A. Pesce and a daughter Kerry Giarnese and her husband Gary, of Torrington and grandchildren Chyenne and Miah Giarnese.
He also leaves a brother Adolph Pesce of Plainville and sisters Bruna Brignolo of Torrington and Rose Zabbara of Winsted. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Joelle and brothers Alphonse and Catiellio Pesce.
Services Thursday 9:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Hillside Cemetery for 10 AM with Rev. Linda Stein Pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating.

Deacon Edward James Dickson, 74, of Koury Terrace Torrington
died Saturday Aug. 14 at Litchfield Woods.
He was ordained a Deacon by Bishop Hackett June 27, 1976.
He was a Deacon at Saint Francis of Assisi Church for 28 years. He administered to the sick at five Torrington Nursing Homes monthly.
He is survived by Brother Deacon Joseph Kevin Rogers of Torrington.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Church 160 Main St. Torrington. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery.

Alfred Viani, 84, of 142 Mill Lane Torrington
died Wednesday Aug 11 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Anne (Neil) Viani. Born in Bronx NY Jan. 19, 1920 he was the son of the late Angelo and Anna (Donati) Viani. He was a Torrington resident for the last 9 years.
He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in The Coast Guard.
He was retired from the Book Department of MBI.
His interests included woodworking, fishing, and train collecting, and he was a Communicant of Saint Francis Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Krueger and her husband Dan of Torrington, grandchildren Danielle and Sean Krueger, and a brother Peter Viani of New York.

Wayne Brean, 47, of 270 High St Torrington
was found dead April 21, 2004 in Torrington.He was born in Torrington Nov 12, 1956 son of Norma (Swanson ) Lawrence of Torrington and the late Andrew Brean. He was a graduate of Torrington High School and attended NWCC, and had been a former employee of Mark Industries. He was an avid reader.
In addition to his mother and step father Everett Lawrence of Torrington he is survived by a brother Jeffrey Brean of Torrington and a sister Mary Vickers of Boston and three step sisters, Kathy Petty of South Carolina, Pamela Jaycox of New York, and Terry Brean.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday Nov. 11 at 10:30 at New Saint Francis Cemetery in Torrington. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Bertha M Reynaud, 71, of 111 Highview Drive, Winchester
died Thursday Nov 4 at her home. She was the wife of Anthony B. Reynaud. Born in Stamford Aug. 14, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Bertha Gasiewski. She moved to the Torrington area in 1974.
She and her husband owned A&B Amusements, operating 16 movie theaters including The Warner Theater and Parkade Cinema in Torrington and Strand Theater in Winsted. They later owned The Winsted Convenience Store and Value Mart in Torrington, retiring in 1999. She was a member of several leagues at Sky Top Bowling Lanes.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Brenda Davis and her husband Robert of Winsted, Cindy Fox of Watertown, and Mary Anne Sok and her husband Ron of Torrington, and she also leaves two sons, Anthony J. Reynaud and his wife Suzanne of Harwinton and John Reynaud of Las Vegas NV, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a sister Eleanor Setti of Norwalk and three brothers in Stamford.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Nov. 8 at 9:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Maron's Church for a Mass at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Winchester Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

M. Agnes Begey Wohlrab 90
died Nov. 1 at Liberty Commons in Chatham, MA.
She was the wife of the late Harold A. Wohlrab.
M. Agnes was born in Torrington, CT February 14, 1914. She was a graduate of St Francis School, Torrington. She lived in Jersey City, NJ, then retired to Highland Lake and Torrington, CT prior to moving to Chatham, MA. She was a School Cafeteria Supervisor, member of Torringford Fellowship, member of the Sullivan Senior Center and an avid UCONN Women's Basketball fan.
She is survived by her daughters, Lois Zeller of Winter Park, FL and Judith Clifford of Chatham, MA; two sons in law, Eugene Zeller and Richard Clifford; six grandchildren, Craig Zeller, Jeffrey Zeller, and Jeanine Rougeot of Florida, Daren Zeller of Pennsylvania, Ami Derick of Simsbury and lstLT Jason Clifford stationed at Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE; and 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave, Torrington from 5:00 to 8:00pm Thursday, November 4, 2004 and 9:00 am Friday, November 5, 2004. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Friday, Nov 5th at St Francis Church Main Street Torrington. Burial is in the Torringford Cemetery.

Dennis W. Previs, 52, of 79 Roberts St. Torrington
died Tuesday April 1 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Yamin) Previs who died in 1985.
Born in Bridgeport April 9, 1950 he was a former employee of Waters Construction of New Milford.
He is survived by his father George Previs Sr and his wife Sharon of New Milford, and his mother, Mary Louise Simmons of New Milford, and his children, Jerome Previs and Hilde Kuchta of Torrington and Myra King of Bantam, and grandchildren Dustin, Desiree, and Joshua King. He also leaves a brother, George Previs Jr of Stratford, and sisters Linda D'Agostino of South Newfane, Vt and Karen McManus of Brookfield, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 5 at 10 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 10:30. Burial will follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

William Llewellyn, 88, of New Hartford
died Thursday March 27 after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Jane (Peterson) Llewellyn. Born in Ynysddu, Wales Dec. 20, 1914, he was a Veteran of WWII serving in The US Coast Guard.
He was retired from New Departure Mfg. Co.
He was a member of The VFW Post 2390, and The Saint David's Society. He also was a member of The Masonic Lodge of New Hartford and Shriners Council Waterbury Valley Chapter.
He is survived by a son William G. Llewellyn and his wife Kathy of CT, and two daughters, Gwyneth Sundell and her husband Robert of NY and Peggy Fate and her husband Fred of CA
He also leaves grandchildren Morgan and Megan Llewellyn of CT, Kristin Sundell and her husband Brad Simpson of NY, Nancy Sundell-Turner and her husband Todd of OH, and David Aitken and wife Nicole of CA. He also leaves a great granddaughter, Mikayla Anne Aitken.

Helen Suffern Richards, 90, formerly of Torrington
died Monday March 19, 2003 in New Jersey. She was the wife of the late Herbert Richards. Born in Pennsylvania March 17, 1913 daughter of the late Stanley and Julia Suffern, she had lived in Torrington nearly 60 years. In the 1920's she worked for The Owl Cigar Factory and later worked for The Torrington Company.
She is survived by a daughter Sandra Dean of Wood Ridge, NJ and a son Edward Richards of Crown Point IN and two grandsons, Frank and James Dean and a grandaughter Katherine Waltermire, and a great grandson Baxter.
A Memorial Mass will be held on April 6 at 10:15 AM at Saint Francis Church in Torrington, CT.
