Joseph b. Gulyas, 45, of 62 French St Torrington
died peaceefully Aug 14 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Angela (Florio) Gulyas. Born in Torrington April 30, 1958 son of Benjamin and Dorothy (Kunitsky) Gulyas of Torrington, he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Santoro's Cleaners and also had worked for The State of Conn. DMR.
His hobbies included landscaping and carpentry.
In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves 6 children--Michael Gulyas of Watertown, James Gulyas US Army stationed in Korea, Gabriel, Matthew, Zachary, and Felicia Gulyas all of Torrington. He also leaves sisters Rosemary Wilgis of St. Augustine FL, Linda Criss, Marlene Tellier, Kathleen Lamere, Lori Levesque, and Diana Gulyas and brothers Steven and Daniel Gulyas all of Torrington and several nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Cheryl Knowles. He was predeceased by and infant son Gregory Gulyas.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday Aug 20 at 10 AM at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ethel Sabia, 92, of 182 Sharon Turnpike Goshen
died Friday Oct 31 at her home. She was the wife of the late Daniel Sabia. Born in Warren Feb. 23, 1911 daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Benedict) Hoffman, she was a long time Warren resident prior to moving to Goshen. She was the last survivor of 9 siblings. She was secretary at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen for many years, a member of The Goshen Garden Club and also at member of Saint Thomas Church Women's Guild.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Leslie Killmer Jr. of Torrington and grand niece Susan Killmer. She was predeceased by her first husband Daniel Sullivan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Nov 3 at 10 AM at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery in Cornwall. Rita Schwaller, 88, of 888 Main St. Torrington
died Wednesday Dec 17 at Litchfield Woods. She was the wife of the late Edward J Schwaller. Born in Torrington Aug 28, 1915 daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hugger) Froliger, she was a life long Torrington resident. She was employed by the former Allied Grocers.
She is survived by two sisters, Josephine Froliger and Elizabeth Sullivan and her husband William of Torrington and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday Dec 20 at 10:30 at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery in Torrington. There are no calling hours. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Baby Stewart, of Torrington
child of John C. Stewart Jr and Julie (Hawks) Stewart of 22 Parson Terrace Torrington died Dec. 15 at Waterbury Hospital. In addition to the parents, survivors include a brother David Stewart and grandparents John C Stewart Sr of Newington and Kaaren Stewart of Torrington and Nancy and William Hawks of Torrington and great grandparents George and Mary Mirabal of California.
Services will be held on Saturday Dec 20 at 10 Am at the Chapel at Hillside Cemetery with Rev. Michael Millum, Pastor of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church officiating.
Phalen Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Anna Kovalcek, 97, of Koury Terrace Torrington
died Monday Dec. 15 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in Torrington Nov 4, 1906 daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Zbuska) Kovalcek, she was a life long Torrington resident. She was a long time employee of The Brunswick Corporation. An active member of Sacred Heart Church, she was a member of their Altar Society and also belonged to The Slovak Catholic Sokol. She was an accomplished knitter, and was privileged to receive a special Papal Blessing from Rome.
She is survived by a niece Agatha Troughton and a nephew Augustine Killiany of Torrington and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Killiany and four brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday Dec. 20 at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Debra Scoville, 51, of 40 Benhan St Torrington
died Sunday Feb. 29 at her home. She was born in Torrington Sept 2, 1952 daughter of William and Mary (Maville) Scoville of Englewood FL. She was a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1970.
She was employed as a telephone operator for several years and also worked for CRI.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother Gary Scoville of Torrington and two sisters, Donna Prout of Torrington and Carol Solgovic of Tennessee, and her partner Susan Grathwohl of Torrington, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Helen A. Fetyko, 89, formerly of Red Mountain Ave. Torrington
died Friday Feb. 27 at Adam's House. She was the wife of the late Joseph Fetyko. Born in Pennsylvania June 24, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Alex and Ann Suren. She was a former employee of Wolcott Hall, and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by her son John Macsata and his wife Janice of Torrington and her grandchildren John Macsata Jr and Scott Piekos and Cherie Dangonini.
She also leaves brothers Joseph Suren, Alex Suren, John Suren, and Steven Suren.
She was predeceased by her first husband Julius Macsata and a sister Mary Reway.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 1 at 10:30 at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Calling Hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home.

Richard Carroll Prince, 74, of Cape Coral FL, formerly of Torrington
died Monday Feb. 23, 2004 after a short and valiant battle with cancer He was the husband of 49 years of Sue (Deming) Prince. Born in Auburn ME April 29, 1929 son of the late Delmar E. and Alice (Hobart) Prince, he was a graduate of Edward Little High School Class of 1948. He enlisted in The US Navy and served four years until his Honorable Discharge in 1953.
He was employed by Kaman Aerospace in Bloomfield as an electrical technician wiring helicopters until his retirement in 1991. He and his wife moved to Cape Coral in January 2003. His favorite hobbies were woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his wife and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela L Petrovits and Valorie L Reder of Torrington and Holly P. Krouse of Barkhamsted, and two sons Gregory M. Prince and Richard J. Prince of Torrington and nine grandchildren. He also leaves a sister Florence St. Louis of Portland ME and a brother Donald Hobart of Houston Tx, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday Feb. 29 at 6 PM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM.

Dorothy L Lesieur, 88, of 82 Stedman Rd New Hartford
died Thursday Sept 16 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alphonse Lesieur. Born March 21, 1916 daughter of the late Lyndon and Edith Peasley, she was a long time Nepaug area resident.
She is survived by her son Lyndon Lesieur of New Hartford and his fiance Judy Wright. She also leaves grandchildren Mark Lesieur and his wife Janice and Kimberly Abbate and her husband Cris and two great grandchildren Lydia and Melanie Lesieur. She also leaves a sister Beatrice LaPlante of New Hartford. She was predeceased by a brother Earl Stedman.

Kaaren Whittaker Stewart, 62, of Torrington
died Monday Sept. 6 at Hartford Hospital.
Born in Torrington Feb. 2, 1942 daughter of the late Gordon and Emma (Sawitzke) Whittaker, she was retired from Torrington Savings Bank in Torrington.
An active member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School there for 20 years and was a former member of The Altar Guild. She was also a member of The Rainbow Girls.
She is survived by her long time companion Richard Billus of Watertown and her children, Heather K. Miner and her husband Frederick of Barkhamsted, Kristyn K. Stewart of Torrington, and John C. Stewart Jr. and his wife Julie and grandson David of Torrington.
She also leaves three brothers, Gordon Whittaker of Reading MA,Thomas Whittaker of Torrington, and R. Troyan Krause of Woodbury.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Sept. 9 at 9:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church for a Service at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Susan Smith Dean, 33, of 86 High St Torrington
died expectantly at Charlotte Hunger ford Hospital Aug. 31, 2004. She was the wife of Richard "Butch" Dean. Born Fed 6, 1971 she grew up in New Fairfield and attended New Fairfield Schools and Wykeham Rise School in Washington CT.
She was an executive assistant at Aries Partners in Norfolk Ct.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Rhiannon Smith Dean and her mother and step father, Dale Smith and Brian F. Burnell of Torrington and father Ronald B. Smith and grandmother Amy Smith and a sister Robin Smith of Washington Ct.

Attilio "Tillio" DeAngelo, 80, of 88 Brook Street Torrington
died Thursday Nov. 25, 2004 at Wolcott Hall. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Kubina) DeAngelo. Born in Torrington January 29, 1924 son of the late Antonio and Clementine(D'Angelo) DeAngelo, he was employed by The City of Torrington Street Department until his retirement in 1984.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two brothers, Charles DeAngelo of Winsted and Weed DeAngelo of Torrington and three sisters, Lucy DeAngelo, Nan Milak, and Emily Johnson, of Torrington and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Anna Rossi, Yolanda Morse, and Elsie DiLullo and brothers Louis, Raymond, and Ernesto DeAngelo.

Ernest S. "Teddy" Volpe, 83 of 446 North Elm St. Torrington
died Thursday July 4 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy (Lovallo) Volpe. Born in Torrington Dec 22, 1918 son of the late Samuel and Mary Volpe, he was a Veteran of The US Army serving during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Delle Donne Oil Company in Torrington for many years before his retirement. He was a member and past officer of The Foresters of America, a former member of Torrington Elks Lodge, and a former member of The John Cavalieri Post.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Karen Fries and her husband Michael and Lucia Rarick and her husband Frank all of Torrington, five grandchildren and a great grandson. He also leaves a brother Nicholas Volpe of Torrington. he was predeceased by a brother Joseph Volpe and a sister Rose Gebrian.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 8 at 10 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Peter's Church for a Mass at 10:30. Jean A. (Waltos) Arcoma, 72, of 405 Allen Rd
beloved wife of Bruno R. Arcoma, died peacefully Sunday Aug 4 surrounded by her loving family. Born March 10, 1930 daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bloom) Waltos, she was a lifetime Torrington resident.
She was employed by Brooks Bank and retired in 1986 from Bank of Boston. She was a devoted member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Jean especially appreciated her numerous friends with whom she shared many happy times.
In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in -law. Peter and Jeannie Arcoma of Bethany, and her daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Sally and Anthony Ardolino of West Hartford, and her grandchildren, Peter, Melissa, and Joseph Arcoma, and Michael and Eric Ardolino.

Jane Pollock Reis, of 132 Hoerle Blvd. Torrington
died Wednesday Jan 8 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of Victor Reis. Born in Winsted, daughter of the late Omar and Mary (Norton) Pollock, she was a bookkeeper at Soucy Footwear in Torrington and also had previously been employed by the WW Mertz Co. She was a member of The Torrington Country Club and also Bear Lakes Country Club in Florida and was a communicant of Saint Thomas Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Marilyn Cleveland of Norwalk OH, and two sons, Atty V. Peter Reis of Torrington and Atty. Gerald Reis of Goshen, 6 grandchildren and a great grandson. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Patrick of Torrington. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Jan 11 at 10:30 AM at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen. Burial will be at Saint Thomas Cemetery in the Spring. There are no calling hours. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Charles James Giampaolo, Sr. "Sonny", 74 of 54 Cedar Lane New Hartford Bakerville section
died Friday Night Jan 3, 2003 after a hard battle with an illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth " Betty" (LaPorte) Giampaolo. He was born in Torrington August 2, 1928 son of the late James and Elisa (DiLullo) Giampaolo. He grew up working his father's Columbia Meat Market on East Main St. where he learned the meat cutting trade. He was a graduate of Torrington High class of 1946. He served his country with honor and distinction in The United States Marine Corp. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a salesman for Cott Soda and Gallo Wine Merchants from which he eventually retired.
He was a long time member of Greenwoods Country Club and was an avid skier in his younger years. After his retirement, he was a volunteer at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and a member of Eastwood Country Club's Retiree's League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and their wives, Charles Giampaolo and his wife Sandy, Jaye Giampaolo and his wife Debbie, and Jamie Giampaolo and his wife Janet, all of Torrington and six grandchildren, Justin, C.J., Jennifer, Nicholas, Jamie, and Julia whom he loved and cherished. He also leaves a sister, Margaret Sacco and her husband Frank of Arizona, and his brother in law Joseph LaPorte and sister in law Delores who supported mom and dad through their difficult life. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Theeb, Dora Weimann, and Helen Dilullo and two brothers in law, Robert Weimann and Maurice Theeb.
Funeral Services will be Thursday Jan 9 at 9:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church 837 Charles St Torrington for 10 AM. Geraldine "Pee Wee" Lemieux, 69, of 11 Johsnon St. Torrington
died Friday Jan 3 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of Paul G. Lemieux. Born in Torrington April 7, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Vital and Rose (Normand) Bourque. She delivered the Register Citizen for many years and also was employed by Value Mart for many years.
An active member of Saint Francis Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and also worked in their bingo program. She was a former member of The Columbiettes and The Sky Top Bowling team the Strikettes.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter Michele Bellody of Torrington and six sons, David, Gregory, Marc, Vincent, and John Lemieux all of Torrington and Gerard Lemieux of Adelaide South Australia. She also leaves a sister, Jacqueline Bourque of Torrington and four brothers, Norman, Roger, and Maurice Bourque of Torrington and Jacques Bourque of Derby. She also leaves 17 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her twin brother Gerald Bourque and another brother Rudolph Bourque.

Gerald Ciesco, 56, formerly of Funston Ave. Torrington
died Friday Feb 14 at Adam's house Healthcare. Born in Torrington Oct 24, 1946 son of the late Michael and Irene (Zielinski) Ciesco, he attended Torrington High School and was a former employee of The Warrenton Woolen Mill. He enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his children Amber and Gerald Ciesco of Minnesota, and three brothers, Louis Ciesco of Torrington, Robert Ciesco of West Palm Beach FL, and Joseph Ciesco of Phoenix, AZ. He was predeceased by a brother Michael Ciesco.
Private Services are at the convenience of the family. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Anna Fox, 96, formerly of Thompson Heights, Torrington
died Thursday Feb. 20 at The Avon Health Center. She was the wife of the late Domenic Fox. Born in New Haven Feb. 28, 1906 daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Lawlor) Murphy, she was a graduate of Saint Francis School. She was a retired office worker from Alcot Mfg. Co.
She was a member of The Sullivan Senior Center Seniorettes and an active member of The Thompson Heights Social Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Korner and her husband Edwin of Canton Center, and grandchildren Elizabeth Ritchie and her husband Steven of Pleasant Valley, and Glenn Korner of Canton Center and James Korner of Barkhamsted. She also leaves three great grandchildren, and a sister Mary Silliman of Milford and a sister-in-law, Kay Murphy of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Stephen, Timothy, and Edward Murphy.

Jacqueline Sesko, 78, of 97 Whitewood Rd. Torrington
died Monday Feb. 18 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stephen P. Sesko who died in April 2002. Born in Torrington May 8, 1924 daughter of the late Oclerio and Teresa (Fracassi) Moranino, she was a Communicant of Saint Francis Church.
She is survived by a son Stephen P Sesko, Jr and his wife Diane of Southington, and a daughter Joan Carta and her husband Bill of Southbury, grandchildren Daniel, Jeffrey, and David Sesko and a granddaughter Emily Carta. She also leaves two brothers, Frank and Orlando Moranino and a sister Victoria Roman of Torrington.

Marjorie (Marge) Louise Fay, 86, of Goshen
died at home Wed. April 30, 2003. She was born December 18, 1916 in Goshen, daughter of the late William and Lena Siddell. She lived her entire life on the family farm. She was the wife of the late Charles Fay. She drove a school bus for Region #6 for 44 years. She was a long time member of The Goshen Agriculture Society, The Goshen Grange, Goshen Historical Society, and Goshen Congregational Church. She served as Republican Registrar of Voters in Goshen for many years.
She was devoted to her family and leaves a son, Charles (Pete) Fay and his wife Theresa, grandson Peter Fay, 2 great granddaughters, Melissa and Caitlin Fay, 2 nieces and a great niece and 1 great nephew, all of Goshen. She was predeceased by a grandson Billy Fay and her sister Gladys Simpson.
