Dean and Jeanette Harris
Dean G., 79, and Jeanette P. Harris, 78, of 1146 Wisner Dr. died Thursday, June 5, 2003 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident north of Marquette, Iowa.
Dean was born January 20, 1924 in Postville, Iowa the son of Faye and Hazel (Hangartner) Harris. He served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airporne in Europe during WW II earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
Jeanette was born May 24, 1925 in Tripoli, Iowa the daughter of Ernst and Emma (Kuhrt) Drewis. She graduated from Tripoli High School in 1943.
Dean Harris and Jeanette Drewis were united in marriage June 9, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He worked for Rath Packing Company for 31 years retiring in 1976. Jeanette worked for Rath Packing Company for 43 years retiring in 1984. They were both members of First Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
Dean and Jeanette enjoyed spending time at their trailer on the Mississippi River near Harpers Ferry; often times spending the week there during the summer where they enjoyed fishing. They enjoyed playing the slot machines, and spending time with nieces and nephews.
Dean is survived by 2 brothers: Merle Harris of Griffith, Indiana and Lee Harris of Genoa, Wisconsin; a sister Iris Zabel of Waterloo; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Neil Harris.
Jeanette is survived by a brother Ralph Drewis of Frederika, Iowa; 2 sisters: Delores Marlow of Waterloo and Dorothy Harris of Genoa, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters: Norma Schroeder, Lois Hunt, Ruth Drewis, Geneva Kerr, and Blanche Sievers; 4 Brothers: Roland, Randolph, Erwin, and Fredrick.

Lyle G. Harris
Lyle G. Harris, 86, of 1021 Sheridan Rd, died on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at ManorCare Health Services. Lyle was born on October 29, 1918, in Clarksville, Iowa, the son of James and Margaret (Detra) Harris. He married Jeanette Stewart November 11, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Lyle graduated From Clarksville High School and Gates Business College. He was employed as an accountant with Young Coal and Ice Company for fifty years: 1939 until retiring in 1989. He was a WWII veteran, having served with the 101st Airborne in Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; two sons, Gary Harris and his wife Mary of East Alton, IL, and Donn Harris and his wife Sharon of Waterloo; seven grandchildren: Todd (Anna) Harris of Buffalo Grove, IL and their two children, Ben and Sarah; Christi (Jeff) Counton of Maryville, IL and their three children, Alli, Hunter and Chase; Marcia Harris of Maryville, IL; Andrew Harris of Seattle WA; David Harris of St. Paul, MN; Carrie (Jeremy) Denton of Raymond, IA and their two children, Riley and Mason; and Lindsey (Mark) Alexander of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret E. Harris of Clarksville, IA; and two brothers-in-law, Jim (Barb) Stewart of Annandale, VA, and Don (Lila) Stewart of De Witt, IA.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Raymond; and brother, Glen.

Viola J. Haug
Viola J. Haug, 93, of Waterloo, died on Saturday, September 25, 2004, of natural causes at the Ravenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 24, 1911, the daughter of Edward and Tina (Kottke) Blood. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1929.
Auntie Pete married Harold R. Haug on October 22,1936,in Waterloo, Iowa. He died May 29, 1951. She was an Executive Secretary for twenty-two years with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Board of Realtors, retiring in 1973. Viola attended the Hagerman Baptist Church in Waterloo.
Auntie Pete is survived by her sister, Betty Segerstrom, of Waterloo, IA; sister-in-law, Donita Blood, of Waterloo, IA; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Auntie Pete is preceded in death by her husband; step-son, Robert L. Haug; brothers, Willis, George, Archie, Tom, Russell, and infant brother, Orville Blood; and sisters, Caroline Blood, Genevieve Blood, Lorraine Erickson, and infant sister, Helen Blood.

Derelys M. (Dee) Head
Derelys M. “Dee” Head, 75, of 610 East Fourth Street, formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at her home of natural causes. She was born on Jun 11, 1929 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Ansel Everett and Bessie (Mae) Hudson Williams.
Dee married Jimmie Head in Battle Creek, Michigan. They were later divorced. She was an LPN at Country View Care Center in Waterloo for twenty-five years and LaVista Care Center in Michigan.
Dee is survived by three sons, Hudson Everett Williams of Waterloo, Farrell Lemons Williams of California, and James “Jimmy Jam” Williams of Waterloo; daughter, Susan L. “Gala” Williams of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Dixie Cronen of Waterloo, and Treasure Sanders of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Walter Williams.

June Elaine Heard
June Elaine Heard, 78, of Waterloo, formerly of Storm Lake, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at Country View Care Center in Waterloo. Elaine was born June 21, 1925, in Haywarden, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Rosella (Frank) Jepson. She moved to Storm Lake when she was twelve and graduated from High School there in 1942.
Elaine married Perry Heard December 24, 1945 in Haywarden. They moved from Rembrandt to Storm Lake in 1951and into their home at 201 Highway. She had worked at the Union Pacific/Milwaukee Railroad as depot agent, J.C. Penny, as a secretary at Buena Vista College and Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce, and in the office at IBP. She was actively involved in PTA, Girl Scouting, Order of Eastern Star, Wa-Tan-Ye, ICCA, BPW, and served as the secretary for the Storm Lake Centenial Committee 1971- 1973.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Kathy Zimmer of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Perry on March 29, 1983, daughter Anne L. Heard on Nov. 3, 1999, twin granddaughters May 26, 1972, and her sister Lorna Sinkey.

Thomas E. Hemmer
Thomas E. “Tom” Hemmer, 63, of 1139 Longfellow Avenue; formerly of Jesup, died at his home on Saturday, January 1, 2005 from cancer. He was born December 10, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Thelma (Harrington) Hemmer. Tom married Roxanne Hankins on June 2, 1990 in Bellevue, IA.
Tom attended Don Bosco High School. He was a machinist and a fork truck driver for John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and Evansdale AMVETS. Tom was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting, and bowling.
Tom is survived by his wife, Roxanne; 2 daughters, Barb Wren (Todd Clark) of Waterloo, and Karrina Smith of Waterloo; 5 sons, Kevin Hemmer of Waterloo, Terry Wren of Las Vegas, NV, Jerrimy Daman of Waterloo, Nathan Daman of Waterloo, and Joshua Daman and his wife Ann of Waterloo; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Janice Youngblut and her husband Clarence, and Cheryl Schmitz and her husband Jerry, both of Jesup. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Larry Hemmer and his wife Florence of Indianopolis, IN, Steve Hemmer of Minneapolis, MN, and Jack Hemmer and his wife Nickki of Jesup.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Darren Clark; and 2 brothers, James and Robert.

Edward L. Henn
Edward L. Henn, 75, of 167 Michigan Dr., Elk Run Heights, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his home. Ed was born February 23, 1928 in Waverly, the son of Edward E. and Marie A. (Stuffragen) Henn. He grew up in Denver, Iowa, and graduated from high school there in 1946.
Ed joined the Navy following High School and served in the Pacific. He married Joanne M. Hemsath June 4, 1951 in Lancaster, Wisconsin. He worked as an IBEW electrician for See Electric and AAA Electric until his retirement in 1990.
A large part of Ed's happiness these last few years has been his grandchildren....watching them grow, have families of their own, and getting to know his great grandchildren. He has been a member of AA for the last 12 years, a sponsor, and of help to many.
Ed is survived by his daughter Barbara and her husband Kenneth Einfelt of Evansdale; son Randy and his wife Debra of Evansdale; son Ricky and his wife Donna of Cedar Falls; 5 grandchildren Tracy (Laura) Henn, Nathan Henn, Kenneth (Sarah) Einfelt III, Kassandra (Kevin) Mischler, Korey (Kim) Einfelt; 5 great grandchildren, Tracy's daughters Emily and Rachel, Kenneth's children Kenneth IV and Lily Ann, and Korey's son Charles; two brothers, Arnold (Judy) Henn of New Hampton and Harlan "Curley" Henn of Waterloo; 4 sisters, Donna (Don) Pagel of Sumner, Virginia (Clarence) Bohlen of Waterloo, Esther (Don) Wittenburg of Denver, Edna (Irv) Youngblut of Waterloo.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joanne August 1, 1988, sons Rodney and Patrick, and infant daughter Brenda.

Connie A. Hermann
Connie A. Hermann 57, of Waterloo, formerly of New Hampton, died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at the Covenant Medical Center. She was born March 7, 1946 in New Hampton, daughter of Russell S. Munson and Lola Munson Ptacek. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1964 and continued her education, obtaining a Bachelor of Art’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1976.
She married John Hermann Jr. on June 12, 1966 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton. Connie worked as a Corporate Project manager for 23 years for Electronic Data Systems. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Waterloo.
She is survived by her husband John of Waterloo. Two daughters: Anne and her husband Eric Anderson of Ashburn, VA. and Elizabeth Davis of Woodstock, GA. Her mother, Lola Munson Ptacek of New Hampton. Five sisters: Pat and husband Dick Crawford of Waterloo; Bev and her husband Bob Lowe of Lansing; Mary Ptacek of Henderson, NV.; Rose and husband Bill Lowe of New Hampton; Kristi and husband Randy Schmidt of Cedar Rapids. Two brothers: Bob and his wife Pat Munson of Grundy Center, and Jerry Ptacek and his wife Mavis of New Hampton. Two sister-in-laws: Kathy Munson of New Hampton and Linda and her husband Steve Anderson of Crofton, MD. Many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Russell Munson, Brother: Larry Munson and her step-father, Frank Ptacek.

Leota M. Heyer
Leota M. Heyer, 90, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Allen Memorial Hospital. She was born March 29, 1914 in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of William and Hulda (Hoper) Testorff.
She married Art Hoppenworth on April 17, 1935 and he died October 24, 1938. She then married Gustav A. Heyer on December 25, 1940 in Waterloo, Iowa. He died January 04, 1977. She worked at Gamble Robinson Warehouse in Waterloo.
Leota was an active, faith filled member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed handy work, needle work, cross stitching, quilting and loved working in her garden. She had a talent for making award winning apple pies. Leota was a loving mother who worried and cared for her family and sacrificed for them.
Leota is survived by her daughter, Judy Loy and her husband David of Waterloo; son, Larry Heyer and his wife Jane of Forest Lake, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren: Julie (Jim) Baxter and their children, Kimberly Schatz and her two children Kaylee and Julianna, and Nicholas Henson; Brian (Tracey) Schatz and their children, Hannah and Morgan; Cary (J.J.) Meier and their children, Carrie, Maggie, and Sophie; Michelle (Bob) McPoland and their daughter, Brianna Minnie; Chandelle Heyer; Christian (Sheila Rivera-Santiago) Heyer; Chad Heyer; Jennifer Heyer; Joshua (Denna) Heyer and their son, Chandler.
Leota is preceded in death by her husbands, daughter Carol Schatz; and son Craig Heyer.

Mernell M. Hicks
Mernell M. Hicks, 89, of Windsor Care Center, Cedar Falls; formerly of 2724 Bicentennial Drive, died on Monday, January 31, 2005 at Windsor Care Center of natural causes. She was born May 17, 1915 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Ida Mae (Sorensen) Dobbins. Mernell graduated from East High School in 1933.
She married Claude Hicks on October 10, 1950. He died on July 22, 1969. She worked as a local registrar for Black Hawk County, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.
Mernell is survived by her two daughters, Karen Flege and her husband Kent of Cedar Falls: Nancy Tremalgia and her husband Robert of Durham, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Alexa, Sara, Margaret, Cory, Michael, Jennifer, Heather and Jessica; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Brody.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude and one infant brother.

Leah M. Hileman
Leah H. Hileman, 98, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center of the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls. She was born June 2, 1906, in Waterloo, daughter of William and Lillian (Dilger) Eickelberg. She married Frederick G. Hileman on June 24, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa. He died January 14, 2003. She graduated from East High School and the Ross Conservatory and later attended Iowa State Teacher's College.
Leah taught Kindergarten at Lincoln Elementary School and taught elocution in the Waterloo area. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church where she was a deaconess.
She is survived by her two daughters: Shirley Hileman of Waterloo, Iowa; Gerry and her husband (David) Briden of Oregon, Ohio. A son: Fred D. and his wife Debbie Hileman of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One brother, Keith Eickelberg of Atascadero, CA and a sister-in-law, Sina Eickelberg of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Charlotte A. Hinson
Charlotte Anne Hinson, 89, of Friendship Village, formerly of 741 Sunrise Blvd., died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born in Waterloo, Iowa, December 22, 1914, sixth child of William A. Burton and Madonna Greenside Burton. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1933, and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).
On September 2, 1937, in Waterloo, she married William Henry Hinson. They were married for fifty-nine years before he died in April of 1997.
Charlotte and Bill moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, for four years, returning to Waterloo in 1941. They both played in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra for forty-four years. She was very active in music as a cellist, both in the symphony and for various community functions throughout the years. She was an avid promoter of music education with her grandchildren and the community as a whole. She had been active in many community activities and groups including LMI club (Ladies Musical Improvement); Chapter IX, PEO; Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Guild; Gamma Phi Beta Sorority; First United Methodist Church; and Jr. League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls.
Survivors include: her daughter, Carol Driver (Craig) of Waterloo; her son, Richard Hinson (Jane) of West Des Moines, IA; six grandchildren: Scott Driver of Tucson, AZ; Jeffrey Driver and Gyobanna Carvajal of Waterloo; Charlotte Elaine Driver of Phoenix, AZ; Ashley E. Hinson of Grand Junction, CO; Piper A. Hinson of Los Angeles, CA; and Blake W. Hinson of West Des Moines, IA; and her sister Margaret Byers of Chula Vista, CA.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; two brothers, Robert Burton and Ralph Burton; three sisters, Minerva Riley, Jean Stuelke, and Virginia Davey.
Charlotte’s family wants to thank Marcia Johnson, Peter Colver, Vivian Weimer, Elaine (Driver) and Fred Mast, Jan and Wayne Sadler, Fran and Frank Nelson, and others who helped in her care.

Walter L. Hodgson
Walter L. Hodgson, 88, of Friendship Village; formerly of 2625 Orchard St., Waterloo, died Monday, January 31, 2005 at Friendship Village Retirement Center of natural causes. He was born May 10, 1916 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of George and Jenny (Jones) Hodgson. He graduated from Zanesville High School.
Walter married Gayle Tammel March 3, 1951 at the First Brethren Church in Chicago, Illinois. He was a partner in Pioneer Graphics, retiring in 1982. Walt was an active member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren. He sang in choir, delivered meals on wheels and helped usher. He loved to bowl and play golf. The highlight of his golfing career was a Hole in One at the South Hills Golf Course. He gave blood to the Red Cross for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle; two daughters, Jan Grittmann and her husband Robert of Hudson: Sue Hantelmann and her husband Ken of Georgetown, TX; six grandchildren, Jeff Grittmann of Clive, IA: Jennifer (David) Swanson of Spillville, IA: Christopher Grittmann of Ames, IA: Derek Grittmann of Ames, IA: Christie Hantelmann of Austin, TX: Matt Hantelmann of Austin, TX; two great-grandchildren, Tayler Grittmann and Jake Grittmann; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hodgson of Clearwater, FL.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, John and Russell; and two sisters, Emma Beckwith and Jean Luster.

Kenneth H. Hoffman
Kenneth H. Hoffman, 91, of Waterloo; formerly of Hudson, died on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Friendship Village Retirement Center. He was born November 25, 1913 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Martha (Harbaugh) Hoffman. He married Carolyn Wilkinson on April 19, 1941 in Mason City, IA, celebrating their 50th anniversary before her death, on April 26, 1991.
Kenneth graduated from Orange High School in 1932. He worked on his parents farm after high school and began in 1933 as a mechanic and sales person at Earl Brown Implement Company in Waterloo, where he worked, except for service in the Army during WW II, until 1966 when he purchased a rural DX gasoline distributorship. He started with Glen Jeffries Implement, again as a sales person, in 1969 and continued there until retiring in 1982. Kenny also served on the Hudson City Council and was a member of Community Church of Hudson and the B.P.O. Elks #290 in Waterloo.
Kenny taught his family the importance of basic values, strength, to laugh and pray, to sing, and to be together. He enjoyed family vacations at the cabin on Lake Ada in Minnesota and was an enthusiastic fisherman. Kenny could fix anything and if he sold it, he would fix it if it broke. He liked to help others and could work on engines or appliances and would try anything. He was a joy to meet and visit with, accepting of others, and a true friend.
Kenneth is survived by his 3 daughters, Pat Staack and her husband Dean of Hudson, Jean Clausen and her husband Alan of Hudson, and Kat(Bill Burgess) Jorstad of Colorado Springs; 8 grandchildren; Jerrod (Kari) Staack, Laurie (P.J.) Holbach, Jason (Kris) Clausen, Brant (Sarah) Clausen, Meghan (Brian) Lynch, Mallory (fiancé, Matt Skilling) Clausen, Ashley (Tony) Jones and Nathan (Sarah) Jorstad; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Esther Ainley of Waterloo, and Ruth Stephens of Waterloo.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Carolyn.

Elisabeth Hofmann
Elisabeth Hofmann was born December 5, 1900 in Mainz-Kastel, Germany to Anton and Barbara (Kerz) Licht. She died at home on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the age of 102.
Elisabeth married Henry J. Hofmann in Mainz-Kastel, Germany on June 16, 1923. He died on March 8, 1978. She was homemaker and a talented seamstress.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Hildegard (Andy)Anderson of Waterloo, Ruth Wuehr of Waterloo, Marga (Clarence) Kirchhoff of Waterloo and Ellen Ehlert of Sumner. She has one son, Heinz (Sharon) Hofmann of Waterloo. Fifteen grandchildren and she has thirty-five great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother and a half-sister.

Ruth E. Holifield
Ruth E. Holifield, 84, of 740 Grant Avenue, Waterloo, died on Monday, November 1, 2004 at her home, of natural causes. She was born on July 22, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Earl L. and Bertha (Clough) Arthur. She graduated from West High School in 1939.
Ruth married Hollie M. Holifield in November, 1969 in Elizabethtown, KY. He died June 20, 1985.
She is survived by two sons, Larry E. Jacobsen and his wife Cheryl, of Tecumseh , MI, and John Romero of Edina, MN; daughter: Barbara Ann Hubbard and her husband Paul, of Russellville, AR; seven Grandchildren; and five Great- Grandchildren
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents.

Henry J. Holschlag
Henry J. Holschlag, 83, of 914 Oregon Street, Waterloo, Iowa, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center from natural causes. He was born February 21, 1921 in New Hampton, Iowa, son of Wilford and Vianna (Kerns) Holschlag. He married Gladys Lienau on July 28, 1942 in New Hampton, Iowa. She died November 9, 2000.
Henry farmed in the New Hampton area from 1944-1955 and also worked in the boning meat department at Rath Packing Company for 27 years, retiring in 1982.
Henry is survived by two sons, William Holschlag of Unionville, IA and Mark Holschlag of Waterloo, IA. A daughter, Jean Hein and her husband, Jack of Waterloo, IA; 6 grandchildren, Jim, Jill, Doug, Dave, Dan and Matt; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Francile Debettignies of Des Moines, IA.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and a granddaughter, Jodi Hein.

Richard L. Hoofnagle
Richard L. Hoofnagle, 81, of 216 Lillian Lane, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at his home. Dick was born May 13, 1922 , in Fort Dodge, the son of Ralph Lavern and Minnie Elizabeth (Hollister) Hoofnagle. Dick graduated from East Waterloo High School and served in the Navy during WWII, in Hawaii as an ordinance specialist.
Dick Married Sylvia Heather Stuart Boote October 22, 1965 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a honeymoon in Europe, they returned to Waterloo to make their home.
Dick was trained as a tool and die maker and worked for 43 years at John Deere, retiring in 1983.
Dick was very active as Mason, a member of York Rite, Order of Eastern Star, and White Shrine.
Dick is survived by his wife Heather, brother Wayne E. Hoofnagle of Waterloo; and brother Dale R. Hoofnagle of Lansing, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle Clarence Hollister.

Robert W. Ingamells
Robert W. Ingamells, 79, of Waterloo and Dunedin, Florida, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center. Bob was born June 3, 1924, in Dinsdale, Iowa, the son of Earl and Minnie Pauline (Nissen) Ingamells. He grew up in Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School in 1943.
On February 22, 1946, he married Gladys A. Klein in Waterloo. They resided in Hudson for many years before moving to Clearwater, Florida. Bob worked at Rath Packing Co. for 32 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. Bob liked sports his entire life, a high school basketball stand out in Hudson, Little League Baseball coach and Commissioner for many years, and a fan of several teams including Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He loved Florida, disliked winter, and thus spent winter in Florida, recently in Dunedin.
Bob is survived by son Bradley W. (Mary) Ingamells of Hudson; son Randy K. (Vickie) Ingamells of Waterloo; son Grant S. (Sheila) Ingamells of Ckearwater, FL; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother Gerald (Helen) Ingamells of Waterloo; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special companion Pat Strelow of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys June 11, 1993, his parents, son Gregory S. Ingamells, and brothers Donald and Burdette.

Kermit R. Iversen
Kermit R. Iversen, 84, of 403 Easton Avenue, died on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes. He was born on March 23, 1920 in Alta, Iowa, the son of Carl C. and Esther (Bloom) Iversen. He graduated from Alta High School in 1938 and then attended Buena Vista College.
Kermit married Dortha Cunningham on September 1, 1946 in Waterloo, Iowa. He served in the Army Air Corp in the European Theater from December 1941 to November 1945. He then worked at Matt Parrott and Sons for 37 years, retiring in 1986. Kermit was a member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren and Waterloo Downtown Rotary.
He is survived by his wife, Dortha; 3 sons and a daughter; Dennis (Lois) of Macomb, IL and their children, Courtney and Angie; Gary of Waterloo and his children, Adam (Sara), Rebecca (and her daughter Faith), and Andrew; Bruce (Ofelia) of Cedar Falls and their children, Benjamin, Jacob, Nicholas and Anneka; Carol (Courtney) Messingham of Oelwein and their daughter, Taylor. He is also survived by a twin sister, Leora Klayder of Denver, Colorado; and a sister-in-law, Elsa Cunningham of Algona.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents.
Kermit was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle that enjoyed family gatherings. His compassion and love of life will be missed by all that knew him.
Friends who wish may direct memorials to the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.
