Born in Amsterdam, November 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Colson. Mrs. Cook worked at Grand Union in Ballston Spa for over 30 years. She was a charter member of the Community Emergency Corp in Ballston Spa.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Cook, 3 brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her children Nancy (Kenneth) Waite of Greenfield and Carl (Barbara) Cook of Cambridge; 3 grandchildren Jason Cook, Ryan Cook and Edward Waite. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10am Monday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in Ballston Spa Cemetery. Of Pyramid Pines Estates, Saratoga Springs
Died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital
Born in Dansville, March 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Dorothy Jones.Mrs. Applin was a nurse’s aide at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs for 30 years. She was instrumental in helping her husband establish his church “Greater Commandments Ministries“
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Rev. Clarence Applin, 5 children Thomas (Kathy) Applin of Warren, Pennsylvania, Gary (Janice) Applin of Schenectady, Laurie (Thomas) Willette of Floral City, FL, Richard Applin of Saratoga Springs and Jeffrey (Jacqueline) Applin of Hudson Falls. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc, 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Greater Commandments Ministries, Pyramid Pines Estates Lot 76, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Harold R. "Hodge" Vedder
Of Ford Street, Ballston Spa.
Died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Ballston Spa, September 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Robert and Doris Vedder. Mr. Vedder was produce manager at several local grocery stores and retired from the IGA in Ballston Spa in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and the Saratoga Racetrack.
He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Vedder and a son Larry Vedder.
Survivors include his children Donna (John) Haskell of Ballston Spa, Kathy (Roger) Fulk of Ballston Spa, Bonnie (Peter) Ricci of Nevada, Jeffrey Vedder and his fiancée JoAnn of Ballston Spa, Ross (Lee) Vedder of California, Wendy Vedder of Ballston Spa and Brenda (Jacque) Sortore of Washington; 2 sisters Evelyn Baxter of Ballston Spa, Ruthann Smith of Gansevoort and 2 brothers Wesley Vedder of Round Lake and Bruce Vedder of South Carolina. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia M. Kerley
Formerly of Round Lake.
Died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 in Tucson, Arizona.
Born in Oneonta, November 10, 1920, she lived in Round Lake for most of her life and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1995. Mrs. Kerley was a homemaker and enjoyed bird watching and flowers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Kerley and a daughter Diane Dabrodie
She is survived by her nine children, Nancy (Alan) Vanvranken of Cohoes, Janet Maucerie of Tucson, AZ, Eileen Hertzel of Valatie, Paula (Richard) Hoffman of Albany, Patrick Kerley of Asheville, NC, Mary (Jerry) Brundage of Cuba, NY, Daniel Kerley of Tucson, AZ, Christian Kerley of California and Jonathan Kerley of Stillwater. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3pm Sunday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Dorothy M. (Bigsbee) Elliott
Of Seward Street, Saratoga Springs, formerly of Rock City Falls, passed away into the loving arms of our Lord, Monday, December 5, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 23, 1921 in Guilderland, she was the beloved mother of 49 years of Diane Lloyd (Garth). She was the loving mother of Raymond “Mickey” Elliott (Pattie) both of Ballston Spa; and a wonderful grandmother to six grandsons; Adam Lloyd, Raymond “Bucky“, Bobby, Rodney, Randy and Chris Elliott. She was the daughter of the late Florence Wagenor and Andre “Dutch” Bigsbee. She was also predeceased by her brother Charles Bigsbee. On June 22, 1941, she married Raymond L. Elliott in Rotterdam. She was a loving and devoted wife of 46 years until he passed away in April 1987. She worked for over 15 years at the Van Raalte Co as a seamstress. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was a communicant of Simpson United Methodist Church of Rock City Falls.
Dorothy will be remembered as a kind and loving person. She spoke ill of no one. A more gentle soul there has never been. She was always thoughtful, generous and compassionate, who’s family and faith in God came above everything else. She was not a woman consumed with herself but would do anything to help others. She was an excellent cook and baker of apple pies and fudge and enjoyed most cooking on holidays, surrounded by her family. She also enjoyed music, flowers, reading and puzzles.
Survivors including her children and grandsons are 11 great grandchildren. Her family would like to thank with deepest gratitude the staff of Dr. Warren Litts; Dr. Litts, Colette, Selinda, Katrina, her wonderful longtime caregiver Leanne Ball and the other wonderful caregivers Beth Mabb, Rosemary Greenwood, Mary Sutlift, Barbara Leight, Kathy Heard, Diana McDonald and the compassionate staff of the Community Hospice of Saratoga, for all their loving care and concern. Everyone took such great care of her over these last 10 years of her battle with alzheimers.
Funeral services will be held 10am Friday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in Rock City Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy may be sent to the Simpson United Methodist Church of Rock City Falls or Community Hospice of Saratoga.

Evelyn Y. King
Of Ballston Spa.
Died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Maplewood Manor.
Born in Ellenburg, April 9, 1911 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elinor Miner. Evelyn was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and playing cards. She also enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace at her home
She was predeceased by her husband Urles Nelson King and a son, Orrin King.
She is survived by her children, Barbara E. Nutting and her husband Warren of Hadley, Gloria Zullo of Mechanicville, Veronica Stevens and her husband Edward of Saratoga Springs, Geraldine Picard and her husband Robert of Halfmoon, and Larry King and his wife Annette of Florida; a brother, Chester Miner and his wife Rose of Rochester; 26 Grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren 6 Great-Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

William C. Warmt, Jr
Of Juniper Drive, Ballston Spa.
Died Friday, November 18, 2005 in Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Troy, January 13, 1940, he was the son of the late William and Grace Warmt. He grew up in Poestenkill and moved to Ballston Spa in 1968. Mr. Warmt worked for NY Telephone Co for 25 years. He later was a computer technician for Saratoga County, retiring in 2004. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Ballston Spa. He was active in the Ballston Spa Little League and was instrumental in helping them become incorporated. He enjoyed camping and RVing.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Phyllis (Glennon) Warmt; his 2 sons William Warmt, III of Malta and John Warmt and his wife Lori of Saratoga Springs; 2 grandsons Greg and Kyle Warmt; and 2 granddaughters Emily and Sydney Warmt. He is also survived by many cousins.
Funeral services will be held 9:30am Tuesday at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Ballston Spa Cemetery, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Mark Anthony Hughes
Of Greenfield Avenue, Ballston Spa.
Passed into the arms of the Lord, Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital
Born in Schenectady, November 16, 1956, he was the son of Doris Shaw and the late William Hughes. Mark worked for Ballston Spa Central Schools. He was a member of Union Fire Co No 2 and served as a fire policeman. He was also a member of Ballston Spa Elks, CSEA Local 1000 and a former member of Local 157 Laborers Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, dancing, and motorcycles. He was an avid collector of clipper ships. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Michele Hughes; his children Mourisa Hughes and Josh of Cottage Grove, WI, Robert and April Hughes of DeForest, WI, Mark Anthony Hughes II and Heather of Oregon, WI, Jason Hughes and CiCi of Madison, WI, Kenneth Hughes of Ballston Spa, Amber Dreas and Les of Ballston Spa, Tracy Constantine and Ed of Schuylerville, Terresa Constantine of Saratoga Springs, and Janel “Jelly Bean” Constantine and Steven of Albany; his mother Doris Shaw of Glens Falls; 3 brothers James Hughes of Clifton Park, Glennan and Sherry Hughes of Glens Falls and Jay Dean and Heather Hughes of Saratoga Springs. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thomas Zwirlein
Of Kingsland, Georgia and formerly of Ballston Spa.
Died Monday, November 7, 2005 at the Life Care Center in Hilliard, Florida
A native of Brooklyn, he had resided in Camden County for the past 5 years. He was a retired Quality Assurance Supervisor at General Electric Co in Schenectady with 25 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was of the catholic faith.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years Pauline Zwirlein of Kingsland, GA; a son Thomas Zwirlein of Florida; 3 daughters Georgia (Richard) Blair of Kingsland, GA; Phyllis (Alvie) Marcellus of Spokane, WA; Louise (David) Eighmey of Fairhaven, VT; stepson Bruce (Roni) Kollath of Sugar Land, TX; stepdaughter Diane (Robert) Schultz of Largo Vista, TX; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10am Monday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballston Spa. A calling hour will precede the service from 9-10am Monday at the funeral home.

Richard A. Kay
Of Route 9, Malta.
Died Monday, November 7, 2005 at his home. Born in Hoboken, NJ, February 29, 1920, he was the son of the late Lewellyn and Martha Kay. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Kay owned and operated a tractor repair service from his home in Malta.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Kay. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 2pm Monday, November 14 at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Town of Saratoga.

Ernest J. Palmateer
A long time resident of Ballston Spa, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Schenectady, January 6, 1912 he was the son of the late Albert and Maude Palmateer. He was a welder at General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 25 years. Ernest enjoyed visiting farm auctions and loved to play with his great grandchildren
He was predeceased by his wife Loretta Palmateer. He is survived by two daughters, Dawn Woodruff, and Donna John; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Thomas M. Gregory, Sr
Of Red Coach Trail, Ballston Spa.
Passed away Thursday, November 3, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Albany, October 27, 1942 he was the son of the late Eugene and Alice Gregory. Tom was a sheet metal worker and worked for many construction companies in the area. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union No 83 in Albany and the Ballston Spa Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and was a fan of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his three brothers, James, John, and David Gregory and his sister Catherine Leonardi.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Gregory; 3 children, Thomas Gregory Jr. and his wife Stacie of Ballston Spa, Kimberley McMahon and her husband John, Jr., of Porters Corners, Jason Gregory and his wife Kelli of Ballston Spa; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Gregory, Kaila Gregory, John McMahon III, and Connor Gregory; a brother Daniel Gregory of Ballston Spa; 4 sisters Patricia Kane of Troy, Joan Brunet of Guilderland, Nancy Gregory of Guilderland, and Suzanne Gioeni of Albany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 9am Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. Lois Best Wagner
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2005. She had been a resident of Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa for the past several years. Born in Athens, NY, October 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helena Best. She resided in Catskill prior to moving here to be near her daughter.
Lois was employed by the Catskill Central School System for many years in various capacities. At the time of her retirement she was an aide in the middle school. She was known for her sharp wit and dry sense of humor. In retirement, she assisted her husband in the refinishing and repair of antique furniture, something they both truly enjoyed.
Lois was predeceased by her husband George B. Wagner, her brother Paul S. Best and her sister Janet VanDerlip. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Miklas and her husband Noel of Wilton and Judith Wagner of Oregon; as well as several nieces and nephews. She had many friends among the staff at Maplewood Manor.

Anne M. Hill
Of Grace Moore Road, Saratoga Springs.
Died Monday, October 10, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Massena, December 30, 1943, she was the daughter of Florence Burrell and the late Bradley Burrell. Anne worked for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance for 25 years, retiring in 2003. She enjoyed gardening, her pool, and the family camp in the Adirondacks. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her father she was predeceased by her son Richard Hill, her sister Theresa Burrell and her brother Robert Burrell. Survivors include her husband of 41 years James Hill, her children Joseph (Annette) Hill of Galway and Lisa (Matt) Goyer of Troy; 3 grandchildren Tanner Hill, Shannon Goyer and Matthew Goyer; mother Florence Burrell of Albany, brother Rev. Charles Burrell of Kingston; sister Mary Cameron of Albany, and niece Shavonne Cameron of Albany. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ralph L. Bryant
Of Waterbury Street, Saratoga Springs.
Died suddenly Sunday, October 9, 2005 at his home.
Born in Ballston Spa, February 4, 1947, he was the son of the late Leslie and Alice Bryant. Ralph served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for Ellsworth Ice Cream in Saratoga Springs.
Survivors include his son Benjamin Bryant; brother Gordon (Debi) Bryant of Ballston Spa; niece Lindsay Bryant of Ballston Spa; aunt Agnes Bryant of Ballston Spa. He is also survived by several cousins and friends.

Katherine A. Caputo
Of Ballston Spa.
Died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. Born in Hazen, Arkansas, January 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anne Fedory. Katherine was a member of Christ The Saviour Orthodox Christian Church in West Milton. She was an active artist in the area and attended Senior Education classes at Skidmore College for many years. She enjoyed attended the NYC Ballet and other concerts at SPAC and was an avid swimmer at the YMCA. She also loved to travel throughout the world.
In addition to her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her siblings Daniel, Julia, Ann, Helen, Mary and Michael. She is survived by two daughters Betty Hill and her husband Lewis of Ballston Spa and Dottie Bemis and her husband Wayne of Saratoga Springs; five grandchildren Wendy Slater, Kim Stewart, Wayne Bemis, Jr, Naomi Hill and Sara Hill; seven great grandchildren Jessica and Brittney Slater, Alex and Christopher Stewart, Becca, Samantha and Brian Clark Bemis.
Funeral services will be held 9am Wednesday, at Christ The Saviour Orthodox Christian Church 3425 Galway Road, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in St. Basil's Cemetery, Watervliet. Lynn A. (Brandt) Mehollin
Of Lake Hill Road, Burnt Hills.
Passed into eternal life on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Niskayuna, October 21, 1960, she was the daughter of Phyllis and Walter Brandt, Jr. She was a graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School and Endicott Junior College. Lynn was a stay at home mom and a loving wife and mother. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Garner, North Carolina. She loved the outdoors and camping. She was a strong supporter of breast feeding and educated many women at area hospitals. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Paul Dean Mehollin III; her four children Paul IV, Audrey, Brandt and Phyllis; her parents Phyllis and Walter Brandt, Jr of Burnt Hills, brother Ted (Mary) Brandt of Burnt Hills, 2 sisters Susan Frankowski of Fleetwood, PA and JoAnn (David) Zelker of Galway. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mark D. Jurcsak
Of Saratoga Lake.
Died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Ballston Spa, December 7, 1956, he was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Jurcsak. He was a graduate of St Peter’s Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. Mark worked at Burnt Hills Café. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa.
Survivors include his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Jurcsak of Ballston Spa, two brothers Timothy Jurcsak and his wife Kim of Ballston Spa, James Jurcsak and his wife Annie of Ballston Spa; nephew John Jurcsak and niece Rachel Evans. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends from Saratoga Lake and the Burnt Hills Café.

Sarah "Sally" Feathers Clous
Of Ballston Spa.
Passed away Sunday, October 2, 2005 in Saratoga Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Ballston Spa December 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Sarah Rhodes. She was a lifelong resident of Ballston Spa. Sally was a waitress and bartender in the Ballston Spa area for most of her life. She later was a nursing assistant, retiring in 2000. Sally was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Schuylerville. She enjoyed BINGO, embroidering, crocheting and traveling. She was predeceased by her first husband Earl J. "Bud" Feathers, her second husband Norman Clous, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her son Carl R. (Faith) Feathers of Ballston Spa, her daughter Fern L. (Louis) Duncan of Mooresville, NC; stepchildren Susan Spain of Saratoga Springs, Catherine Plummer of Clifton Park, and Robert Clous of Ballston Spa; her grandchildren Charon Feathers Hogan of Ballston Spa, Scott E. Duncan of Mooresville, NC, Sandra J. Duncan of Durham, NC and stepgrandchildren Olivia and Madeline Spain of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 9am Wednesday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Tuesday from 6-9pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Open Bible Baptist Church 600 Route 67 Malta, NY 12020 or Saratoga Hospital Pulmonary Unit 211 Church Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Myrtle M. Hornlein
Of Dublin Drive, Ballston Spa.
Died Friday, September 23, 2005 at Mary’s Haven in Saratoga Springs.
Born in Orange, NJ, April 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna Schenk. Mrs. Hornlein and her husband have owned and operated Quad Company in Ballston Spa, since 1976. She was an active member of Hope Church in Ballston Spa where she served as treasurer and deaconess. She was an avid bird watcher.
She was predeceased by her son Robert Hornlein, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 56 years Robert Hornlein, her daughter Susan Hornlein Geary of Wynantskill and sister Gloria Barnes of Boca Raton, Florida. She is also survived by 1 niece and 4 nephews.
Funeral services will be held 7pm Tuesday at Hope Church, 206 Greenfield Avenue, Ballston Spa. Burial will be 10am Wednesday in Factory Village Cemetery, North Line Road, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Monday evening from 7-9pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga,179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or Hope Church, 206 Greenfield Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
