Larry Armstrong
Larry A. Armstrong, 51, Shakopee, died at his home on November 30, 1998 as a result of cancer.
Armstrong was born on May 23, 1947 in Mankato, the son of Allan and Doris (Hemingway) Armstrong. He was employed as a project planner at Datakey Incorporated.
Survivors include "special angel" Linda Theis; son Robert and wife Mary and granddaughters Bria and Anna of Mankato; son Troy of Gaylord; their mother Gail of Gaylord; his mother Doris Armstrong of Cannon Falls; sisters Connie Dulas and husband Eddie of Waconia, Mary Stephenson of Apple Valley, Dee Ann Schmidt and husband Dean of Crookston; brother Jay and wife Diane of Hastings; seven nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and nephew Nathan Schmidt.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cavanaugh-McNearney Funeral Home in Shakopee with The Reverend Paul Cloeter officiating. Private family interment will take place.
The Cavanaugh-McNearney Funeral Home in Shakopee is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Waslie
Alice Martha Viola Waslie, 91, Cannon Falls, died on Friday morning, November 27, 1998 at the Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Alice was born on October 3, 1907 in Goodhue County, the daughter of Martin and Hulda (Leyon) Wagner. She attended country school, and later married Einer Waslie on June 29, 1927 in Minneapolis. She was employed at Point of Sales in Cannon Falls for several years.
She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. She also loved to play bingo.
Einer died on August 23, 1963.
She is survived by her daughters, Hazel Morinelli of Exton, PA and Beverly (James) Simanski of White Bear Lake; daughter-in-law, Joyce Waslie of Cannon Falls; son-in-law, Donald Thompson of Cannon Falls; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Effie Nelson-Schieffer of Milwaukee, WI and Dorothy Kloss of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Doris Wagner of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Einer; daughter, E. Arlene Thompson; sons, Darreld and Merlyn Waslie; brother, Lawrence Wagner; and sister, Edna Otterness.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at First English Lutheran Church, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating. Interment was at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Steven, Mark, Lee and Matthew Simanski, Douglas Thompson and Bruce Waslie.

Alice Wilson
Alice Cornelia Wilson, 94, Cannon Falls, died on Friday afternoon, November 27, 1998 at the Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Alice was born on June 24, 1904 in Britton, SD, the daughter of Torger and Berthe (Lea) Gronseth. She attended grade school in Pleasant Valley. Later she attended South Dakota Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD. Alice taught rural school for six years.
On September 12, 1929 she married Charles Wilson. They farmed in Britton, SD, for about eight years until moving to Cannon Falls in 1944. Charles died July 1, 1973.
Alice was employed as a cook for nine years at the Mineral Springs Sanatorium in Cannon Falls, and at the girls dormitory at Carleton College in Northfield for seven years. She later was employed as head cook at the Island View Lodge near Brainerd for 22 years. Alice retired in 1978. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and traveling when she was able. Prior to residing at Our Lady of the Angels Care Center, she lived at Park Street Apartments in Cannon Falls.
She is a past member of the American Legion Post #142 Auxiliary and the VFW Post #4452 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her four children, Lyle (Phyllis) and Thomas "Lee" (Lila), all of Cannon Falls, Joan (Al) Bradley of Sun City, AZ and June (Tom) Wolfe of Tuscon, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Nov. 30 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, with Father David Shannon officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Michael, Steve, Gary, Todd and Joe Wilson, David Lind, John, Jim and Jay Wilson, and Todd Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Jean Malloy, Shari Wilson, Janet Schauer, Mary Olson and Paula Greer.

Marian Edlund
Marian Irene Edlund, 84, Cannon Falls, died on Friday evening, November 27, 1998 at Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Marian was born on June 11, 1914 in Cannon Falls, the daughter of James Alexander and Emma Julia (Erickson) Filson. She grew up in Cannon Falls, and later graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1932, and was class president. She then went to teacher's training and taught rural school for seven years.
On June 18, 1941 she married Swan G. Edlund at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. The couple farmed in Leon Township. Marian moved to Cannon Falls from the farm four years ago.
She is a Past Matron and former secretary of the Order of the Eastern Star, Zion Chapter #6 in Cannon Falls. She was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Cannon Falls, Bible study and quilting group. She had served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church. Marian had served as an election judge, a member of the Golden Agers Seniors Club, and was involved with an extension homemaker's group in Leon Township. She enjoyed antiques, traveling and being with people.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Kenneth) Olson of Schaumberg, IL; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Stephanie; sister-in-law, Irene Schmidt of Rochester; and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Swan; daughter, Marilyn; and an infant brother.
Funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 30 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, with Pastor Gary Titusdahl officiating. Interment followed at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. An Eastern Star service was held on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were John and Pat Iverson, Dan, Nick and Luke Ross and James Edlund.

Loretta Debes
Loretta Mary Debes, 83, Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday evening, November 24, 1998 at the Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Loretta was born on October 21, 1915 in Hastings, the daughter of Louis and Clara (Greiger) Bennett. For 37 years she was a nurse's aide at the hospitals in Hastings, Wabasha and Cannon Falls. While at the Hastings State Hospital, she was also a cook supervisor. She retired in about 1979.
She was married to Leonard J. Debes on April 23, 1982 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, where she has been a member and served with the CCW.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; children, Betty (Don) Collins of Hastings, Tom Freiermuth of Apple Valley and Jerry (Jeanette) Freiermuth of Conway, AR; step-son, Allen (Babetta) Debes of Walker; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Elsa) Bennett of Mendota Heights; sisters, Helen (Edwin) Dunk of Warda, TX, and Florence (Edward) Halgenseth of Wichita, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Freiermuth and William Moorhouse; son, Richard Freiermuth; infant daughter, Clara Rose Freiermuth; brothers, Arnold and Bernard Bennett; and sisters, Ruth Harris, Myrtle Oliver, Ethel Zempel and Marie Murray.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Nov. 27 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, with Father David Shannon celebrating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Daniel and Allen Debes, Dennis and Michael Freiermuth, Ronald, Michael and Thomas Collins. Honorary pallbearers were Marian Beissel, Mary Johnson, Ruth Hurt, Mary Beyer, Nancy Hovel and Hedy Kelly.

Gilbert Flom
Gilbert Edward Flom, 89, Redding, CA, died Nov. 5, 1998.
He was born Oct.28, 1909, near Minot, ND, the son of Iver and Anna Flom who homesteaded in that area. When he was 8, his family returned to the family farm near Sogn, MN. He was educated in Minnesota and moved to Los Angeles, CA, in 1935. A year later he moved to San Francisco where he lived until retiring from Coca Cola. He was married to Pauline Eby in 1948. Upon retirement, he moved to Anderson, CA, on the Sacremento River where he could enjoy fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; sons Dan and Jon, six grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Lillian Cunningham and Florence Underwood of Bakersfield, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather John Jolstad, two infant sisters and brothers Lavern, Arnold and LeRoy.
Funeral services were held at Lawncrest Chapel, Redding, CA, on Nov. 10. Interment was at Lawncrest Memorial Park.

Hazel Kullberg
Hazel Kullberg, 87, Red Wing, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at Hi-Park Care Center.
She was born April 6, 1911 in Cannon Falls, the daughter of Ernest and Agnes (Bloomberg) Swanson.
She was a 1929 graduate of Cannon Falls High School. She married Carl Kullberg, April 2, 1932 in Cannon Falls. They farmed in the White Rock and Vasa area until moving to Hi-Park Villa in 1997. She worked various places including Cannon Falls Hospital. She was a member of Vasa Lutheran Church and on the board of directors of Vasa Museum. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Carl, Red Wing; two sons, Duane (Susan) Kullberg, Chicago; Dale (Phyllis) Kullberg, Red Wing; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Garnet (Jim) Partington, Farmington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George, Thore and Arnold Swanson; three sisters, Lillie McCoy, Gladys Olson and Bertha Bork.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Vasa Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Dobbins officiating. Burial was in the Vasa Cemetery.
Memorials preferred to Vasa Museum.
Pallbearers were Brad, Dale and Todd Anderson; Jeff, Rick and Steve Kullberg.

Marguerite Cuson
Marguerita "Rita" Cuson, beloved mother and grandmother, died at the age of 90 on December 4, 1998 in Cannon Falls. Those who knew her appreciated her keen sense of humor and kindness. She was admired and was a role model for her children and grandchildren. Rita's family was very important to her.
She loved to play the piano and passed her love of music to her family. In her younger days, Rita was an avid gardener specializing in growing roses. She was proud of her ancestry and if you could mimic a Scottish brogue, dance the highland fling or play a bagpipe, you became a best friend. Rita also loved animals and in particular, her daughter Joyce's dog, "Shadow."
Rita was born on February 19, 1908 in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica. She was the daughter of John Robert Miles and Rosa Maude Williams who were of Scottish and English heritage and whose families had arrived as colonists in Jamaica in the 17th century. She was the youngest of 11 children. Rita was raised in Kingston with her aunt and uncle and attended boarding school. At the age of 17 she emigrated to Toronto, Canada where she joined her mother and elder siblings who arrived in Canada in 1913. The family later moved to Detroit, MI.
Rita married Ralph Cuson in Detroit, MI, during the Depression and they raised two daughters, Joyce and Alex Sandra, in Dearborn, MI. The couple divorced. Rita held several jobs with government agencies as a stenographer, the last of which was for the City of Dearborn, a position from which she retired. She retired to Atlanta, and later, Florida.
In 1996 Rita moved to Cannon Falls and resided at Park Street Apartments. Olivene Juneau was a dear and special friend to her. She loved the people in Cannon Falls of whom she often was quoted as saying, "I have never met such wonderful people anywhere. Everyone is so helpful and nice. I love living here."
Marguerita is survived by her brother, Bruce Miles and his wife, Margaret, of Brunswick, GA; daughters, Joyce Falink of Cannon Falls and Alex Lee of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Corey (Christy) Falink of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paige (Bruce) Silver of Minnetonka, and Amy Falink of Cedar Falls, IA; great-grandchild, Amy's daughter and Rita's "little treasure," Cayleigh Hope Falink of Cedar Falls, IA.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Dec. 7 at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating.
Memorials are preferred to the Goodhue County Humane Society.

Laina Jokela
Laina Enne Jokela, 82, died on December 2, 1998 at the Kenyon Sunset Home.
Laina was born on June 7, 1916 in Pori, Finland. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1920 with her parents, Nikolai and Lempi Jokela. She spent most of her early years on a farm in northern St. Louis County. She graduated from Alango High School in 1935, attended the University of Minnesota, where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction degree in 1948 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1951. Laina worked for Minnesota Society for Crippled Children and Adults (now called Courage Center) for 20 years as an accountant. During that time she lived in Minneapolis. Laina was afflicted with cerebral palsy her entire life and her deteriorating physical condition forced her retirement in 1969. She spent the last 14 years of her life in the Kenyon Sunset Home.
Laina is survived by her brother, Veikko, his wife Phyllis, their children Bill (Mary Jane Lipinski), Linda (Jon Hall), Becky (Dave Paxon), and Cindy (John Poling) and 10 grand-nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Laina donated her body to Mayo Medical School. There will be an informal memorial service at the Kenyon Sunset Home on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 2:30 p.m.

Dale Grohs
Dale U. Grohs, 38, Egan, SD, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at Avera McKennan Hospice in Sioux Falls.
He was born Jan. 6, 1960, in Sioux Falls, to Joseph and Pearl Huss Grohs. He received his education at Egan and worked for Jim Jones as a farm hand and then at Julson Motors. He married Deb Wolterstorff at Pipestone in 1979. He worked for Midwest Importers of Cannon Falls and they returned to Egan in 1986. He worked for H & S construction and then started Dale Grohs Construction. In 1994 he went to work at J & K Building Center. He was a member of the Egan Town Board and was a former volunteer fireman.
He is survived by his wife, Deb, Egan; daughter Amy and son Trevor, both at home; mother, Pearl Grohs, Egan; three sisters, Juliet (Bob) Westerlund, Trent, SD, Donna (Nick) Otto, Egan, Mickie (Darrel) Hoiland, Steen, IA; brother Jerry (Anne), Hurley, SD; in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe.
Funeral services were held Sat., Dec. 5, at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Fr. David Roehrich officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD. Pallbearers were Trevor Grohs, Nick Otto Jr., Danny Huss, Jerry Grohs, Nick Otto Sr., Jeff Johnson and Jim Amdahl. Arrangements by Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, SD.

Aloyed Jensen
Aloyed Willard Jensen, 71, Cannon Falls and formerly of Hastings, died at his home of cancer on Friday morning, December 11, 1998.
He was born on September 11, 1927 in Warsaw Township, the son of Joseph T. and Hilda (Larson) Jensen. He grew up in the High Prairie area, was baptized and confirmed at Wangen Prairie Lutheran Church and attended the Cherry Valley School District #10. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served in the Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in World War II.
On October 23, 1946 he married Margaret Ellen Mohr. They lived in Hastings until moving to Cannon Falls in June, 1998. He retired after 32 years at 3M where he was employed in maintenance.
Aloyed enjoyed hunting, some fishing, and building and using firearms. He shot trap and skeet, target shot, hunted with muzzle loaders that he built, and hunted with modern shotguns and rifles. He enjoyed history, especially the Civil War period. He built weapons of that period, including cannons and a mortar.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret; three children, Joseph (Alvera) of White Bear Lake, JoAnn (Tom) Knutson of Spring Valley, WI, and Daniel (Carolyn) of Cannon Falls; three grandchildren, five step-grand- children and one step-great-grandson; brother Raymond (Betty) of Siren, WI; and sisters Anora Nelson and special friend Harry Evjen of Richfield and Deloris (Conrad) Sorenson of Alta Loma, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bernard (Fran) Jensen of Orlando, FL.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Donald Bakken officiating. Interment was at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Daniel Sear, Allen Theodorson, Douglas Lee, Larry Nelson, Matt Maring, Billy Holst and Tom Sophy.

Fritz Elmgren
Fred H. "Fritz" Elmgren, 83, Evergreen Park, IL, died on Sunday, December 13, 1998 at the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park.
Fritz was born on July 7, 1915 in Chicago, IL, the son of Carl and Hilma (Carlson) Elmgren. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Helen Ann Lundy, and they lived in Evergreen Park for many years. Fritz was employed as a supervising electrician of the Sanitary District for the City of Chicago for most of his working career. He was a member of the VFW and the IBEW.
He was the beloved husband of the late Helen, who died on November 6, 1986; dearest brother of the late Rose (late Max) Polzin and late Charles (Helen) Lundy; dear uncle of Christine Polzin, Susan (Mark) Gilbert, and Joanie (Rich) Thornber; and great-uncle of Brittany and Richard. He is also survived by other close, dear relatives.
Funeral service will be held locally on Friday, December 18, at 11 a.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating. Interment with military honors will be on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Barney, Dale and Jon Baird, Richard, Michael and James Munson.

John Stocker
John F. Stocker, 71, St. Paul, formerly of Cannon Falls, died on Friday, December 18, 1998, at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood.
John was born on April 11, 1927 in Clear Lake, WI. The son of John H. Stocker and Katherine (Schuna) Stocker. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in the Naval Construction Battalion (Sea Bees) in the Pacific during WWII.
On October 6, 1946 he married Sylvia Selma Louise Moske. They lived in South St. Paul, then Almora, MN, St. Paul, Cannon Falls (1970-1977) and again returning to So. St. Paul. He retired from Piledrivers Local 1847 at the age of 60. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a member of Gallagher-Hanson Post 295 in South St. Paul. A member of Piledrivers Local 1847 having held office in this Union and also served as business agent. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in South St. Paul.
He is survived by his children: Shirley (Dick) Anderson of Garrison, Steven (Sharon) Stocker of South St. Paul, formerly of Cannon Falls, Kathleen (Gary) Kosse of South St. Paul, Anita (Don) Rapp of Cannon Falls, Joan (Steve) Pickard of Wyoming. His grandchildren: Barbara (Brian) Johnson of Rogers, MN, Dawn, Laurie Anderson of St. Charles, MO, Rich Anderson of Garrison, Steve Jr. (Wendy) Stocker of River Falls, WI, formerly of Cannon Falls, Stacie (fiancé Scott Banks) Stocker of Cannon Falls, Shawna (boyfriend Aaron Burdick) Stocker of South St. Paul, formerly of Cannon Falls, John (fiancée Robyn Nelson) Kosse of South St. Paul, Matthew Kosse of South St. Paul, Brian, Mike and Becky Forsell of Cannon Falls, Joel Zimmerman Jr. of Cannon Falls, Diana, Zach, Brandon and Christina Pickard of Wyoming; step-grandchildren Tony (Christie) Rapp of Rolling Stone, Willy Rapp of Cannon Falls. Great-grandchildren: Christina and Michael Johnson, Brady Stocker and Cody Rapp. Sisters, Josie Schnell of Butte, MT, Frieda Hollatz of Minneapolis; aunts, uncle, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in South St. Paul, Rev. Neldo Schmidt officiating. Pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Lynnea Peterson
Word was received this past week of the death of Lynnea Miller Peterson of Poland, OH. Lynnea died of cancer at her home on December 17, 1998. She was 49 years old.
Lynnea is survived by her husband, Rev. Daniel Peterson; daughter, Anne Marie; mother, Ruth Miller Trelstad of New Brighton; sister and brother-in-law, Chari and Phil Hansen; and nephew Steven of Fridley. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Miller, who had farmed in the White Rock area.
The funeral service was held in Ohio on December 22. A memorial service is being planned in January to accommodate friends and relatives in Minnesota.

Selmer Hagen
Selmer Oscar Hagen, 80, Apple Valley, died Sat., Dec. 19, 1998, at Veterans Nursing home in Minneapolis.
He was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Cannon Falls, the son of Austin and Anna Marie Hagen. He attended schools in Cannon Falls. He spent three years with the 11th Airborne Division in World War II, and was discharged in 1946. He then spent 22 years in the Navy, after which he worked for the State Highway Dept. and as a school bus driver for District 196. He was married to Marjorie French in 1965 in Bloomington. She now survives. He was a life charter member of Apple Valley American Legion Post 1776.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; three sons, Chris and his wife Melissa, Savage, Sam and his fiance Vicki, Rosemount, and Donald; daughters Judy and Julie; stepdaughter Paulette Vitello and her husband Chuck, California; stepsons Henry Schmode and his wife Diane, So. Dak., and Douglas Schmode and his wife Sue, Rosemount.
Funeral services were held Tues., Dec. 22, at White Funeral Home, Apple Valley. Pallbearers were John Brezinka, Don Schiffman, John Yeager, Roger Andre, Warren Brabrandt and E. J. Herman. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Bemar and Rod Bushee.

Theodore Westman
Theodore "Ted" Westman, 94, a native of Cannon Falls, died Dec. 7, 1998 at Belle Woods Nursing Home in Ann Arbor, MI.
He was born Nov. 27, 1904, in Cannon Falls, the son of Charles and Melvina Westman. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1923. He played basketball and football at CFHS, where he also played cornet in the band and played for dances in the area. His friends included Burt Olson, Jake Hagen and Sid Freeman.
In 1936, in Grafton, ND, he married Echo Westman, and she now survives. He was employed as an accountant at the University of Michigan Food Stores. He was very active in the West Side Methodist Church, the Ann Arbor Elks Club and the Thursday Men's Club. He was an avid U of Michigan football fan for many years, an avid gardener and an outdoorsman. His outdoor activities included hiking, backpacking and fishing. He also wrote poetry and made wood furniture.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wendel and Charles; sisters, Eva, Esther and Ruby. Survivors include his wife, Echo; daughter Penny (Tom) Sibert; son, Robert (Arlene) Westman; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Ann Arbor on Dec. 12.

Irene Kimmes
Irene A. Bauer Kimmes, 76, Hastings, died at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, on Tues., Dec. 15, 1998, as result of injuries suffered in an auto accident Dec. 14.
She was born July 19, 1922 in Douglas Township, the daughter of Isadore and Anna Fox. She was a retired clerk and cook. Her last employer was King's Place in Miesville. Irene was a volunteer for Regina Hospital and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She enjoyed golf as a hobby.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Eugene) Cox, Chanhassen; sons Allen (Robin) Bauer, Hager City, WI, and Perry (Laurel) Bauer, Columbia Heights; sister, Janet Fox, Hastings; brother, Donald Fox, Cannon Falls; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alois Bauer and Anthony Kimmes; sister, Helen Sorenson.
Funeral services were held Sat., Dec. 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Miesville, Rev. Fr. Marvin Klaers and Rev. Ft. Stephen Beauclair, OSB, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Del Bauer, Bill Bauer, Al Bauer Jr., Shawn Bauer, Andrew Bauer and Jeff Cox. Memorials are preferred to Caring and Sharing Hands. Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Erickson
Gerald James Erickson, 67, Roseville, died suddenly on Dec. 2, 1998 at his home.
He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on Jan. 25, 1931, the son of Herbert and Mary Erickson. After his mother died when he was 8, he came to live with relatives in Cannon Falls, including the Elmer Burggrens, Bill and Clara Erickson, Ed and Anna Erickson. He went to country school in Cannon Falls and his years on the farm here were some of his fondest memories. His survivors include a cousin, Wayne Erickson of Cannon Falls.
He served in World War II and later became an electrical engineer. He married Marcy Wargovick at an American Legion dance in Robbinsdale, while on leave from the Air Force. They married Feb. 22, 1952. He retired as a consulting engineer for NCR Comten.
Family was Jerry's highest priority. He and Marcy had six children. After he retired at age 58, he and his wife traveled extensively.
Funeral services were held in Roseville with burial at Fort Snelling.

Alma Hagen
Alma Lenora Hagen, 81, of South St. Paul, formerly of Kenyon, died on Saturday, December 26, 1998 at the United Hospital in St. Paul.
Alma was born on September 12, 1917 in Kenyon to Oscar and Bertha (Bakkethun) Ramstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Holden Lutheran Church. Alma graduated from Kenyon High School. After graduation, she moved to Cannon Falls until 1960, when she moved to South St. Paul. While living in Cannon Falls, Alma started working for Armour Foods in South St. Paul and continued working for Armour until 1979, when she retired. Alma was living in South St. Paul at the time of her death.
She is survived by three children: Donald Hagen of South St. Paul, Judy and Mark Shafer of West St. Paul, and Julie and Marty Erickson of South St. Paul. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher and Michelle Hagen, Daniel and Tami Hagen, Christopher and Janelle Shafer, Todd Shafer, Nikki and Charlie Juelich, Kim and Brad Ramirez, and Jason Erickson; five great-grandchildren, Brady, Tanner, Andrew, Taran and Camden; one brother, Donald Ramstad of Zumbrota, several nieces and nephews and special friend, Dominic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Ruben, Clifford, Harland and Herman Ramstad, and one sister, Eva Ramstad.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 30 at Holden Lutheran Church in rural Kenyon with The Rev. Michael Lockerby officiating. Interment was at Holden Lutheran Cemetery.
