76, of Boothby Avenue, died Friday at H.D. Goodall Hospital after a long illness.
She was born May 23, 1921, in Gloucester, Mass., a daughter of Allyn and Beatrice McCULLEN PERRY.
For a few years Mrs. CHAPMAN was employed as a licensed practical nurse in Massachusetts. She moved to Sanford in 1989.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roy CHAPMAN, in 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Joel W. of Portland and Roy W. of Rowley, Mass.; a daughter, Sharon LOPEZ of Wilmington, Mass.; a sister, Ruth DUTHIE of Stratham, N.H.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

ALTON W. CHAPMAN
82, of West Hartford, husband of the late Dorothy (WADSTROM) CHAPMAN, died Friday (Aug. 23, 1996) at St. Francis Hospital. He served in the European Theatre with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a resident of West Hartford since 1948. He was employed with the City of Hartford Park Department for 25 years, retiring in 1976, and was a member of Covenant Congregational Church in West Hartford. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and belonged to the West Hartford Regents.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by two brothers, Everett and Ralph CHAPMAN.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, (Aug. 28), 11 a.m. at the Covenant Congregational Church, with the Rev. Thomas VanDerMeid officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill will be private. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard T. and Judith CHAPMAN, and Douglas W. CHAPMAN, all of South Glastonbury; five grandchildren, Vic, Stephen, Scott, Robyn, and Kiersten, and a granddaughter-in-law, Jody.

82, Bird's Rest Home, Amherst, passed away on Monday, December 1, 1997, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Chapman Settlement, he was a son of the late Waldo and Ida (HARDING) CHAPMAN. He had served as a town councillor for the Town of Amherst for one term. He owned and operated Goodwin's Supermarket with his brother-in-law, Walter GOODWIN. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Kinsmen K40s, Christ Church Vestry, Christ Church Council, and was a warden of Christ Church. He loved horses, especially race horses.
He is survived by his wife, the former Irene (Bunny)(MILLS) Osborne; daughter, Corinne (her husband Rick SNOWDEN), Rockport, N.B.; son, Larry (his wife Robyn) CHAPMAN, Sutton, Ont.; stepdaughters, Carol McKENZIE, Pugwash; Margaret JANSEN, Dartmouth, and Roberta (Bobbie) (her husband Piercy HAINES), Lorneville; sister, Madeline (her husband Ivan ALEXANDER), Rusagonis, N.B.; brother, Norman (Chippy) (his wife Rhoda) CHAPMAN, Yarmouth; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Marion GILLIS and Audrey (Partridge) McGINNEY.

Mrs. CHAPMAN was born in Fairfield, IA, and lived in Ottumwa, IA prior to moving to West Des Moines in 1956. She was a retired secretary for the state of Iowa and belonged to Rebecca Circle of West Des Moines United Methodist church.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; two sons, Jerry of Jamestown, ND, and Curt of Long Beach, CA; a half brother, Marion CROSSON of Smyrna, TN; and two grandchildren.

Services for Billy Leon CHAPMAN, age 64, of Mustang (OK) were Monday, November 3, 1997 in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, at McNiel's Mustang Funeral Service. Burial was in the Mustang Cemetery.
Bill was born April 19, 1933 at Swan lake, to Hiram Clinton and Audrey TOTEN Chapman, and grew up in the Swan Lake/Eakly area.
As a teenager, he moved with his family to Wann, where he graduated from Wann High School.
Bill had served as Town constable at Carnegie and had lived in Texas, California, Missouri and Oklahoma, working as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He had most recently worked for Traywick Produce, before ill health forced him to retire in 1986. He was a Baptist.
Bill passed away Saturday, November 1, 1997 at a Norman Hospital after a short illness.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Monty Ray and Harold Dean CHAPMAN; a brother, George CHAPMAN; and his parents. Survivors include his wife, Gerald Dean of the home; two sons, Orval CHAPMAN and wife Sharon of Boyd, Texas and James Lee CHAPMAN and wife Cindy of Macon, Missouri; two daughters, Nancy FENNELL and husband Jim of Decatur, Texas and Cheryal Renee TAYLOR and husband Greg of Frisco, Texas; and nine grandchildren. Mr. CHAPMAN, an Aberdeen, SD, native and longtime Hayward resident, was co-owner of The Iron Gate bar and liquor store in San Lorenzo for 13 years. He served in the Navy during World War II.

77, 3 Queen Street, Amherst, passed away November 25, 1997. Born in Amherst Point, he was the son of the late Fred J.H. and Isabell (DELZELL) CHAPMAN.
He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders from 1939-45, four years of which were spent overseas. He landed in Normandy on D-Day. He was the president of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders Memory Club, a life member of Amherst Armouries Sergeants Mess, a member of the Normandy Veteran Association and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #10, Amherst. Following the war, he joined the Unemployement Insurance Commision, and in 1968, joined the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, retiring in 1975.
He is survived by his wife, the former Yvonne GOULD; one daughter, Mary Lynne, Amherst; two sisters, Ruth PRICE, Etobicoke, Ont.; Daphne MASON, Mississauga, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Yardley-Makefield Business and Professional Women's Club, Yardley Historical Association, a Girl Scout Leader, and Cub Scout den mother.

Mrs. CHAPMAN was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Uvalde, TX, where she attended school. She married Henry CHAPMAN on Nov. 30, 1932, in Phoenix, AZ, and they moved to Salinas in 1934 where she cared for their home. She was devoted to her family. They moved to Los Banos in 1967.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry CHAPMAN, in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn BOYD of Los Banos; two sons, Leon CHAPMAN of Visalia and Wayne BOYD of Stockton; two brothers, Wilburn COWIN of Medford, OR. and Clifton WALTZER of Caruthers; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

EMILY ELDER CHAPMAN
The funeral will be held Nov., 26 for Emily Ellen CHAPMAN of Eugene, who died Nov. 21, of age related causes. She was 83.
She was born March 3, 1914, in Bothell, WA, to Martin and Emily ELDER, but had lived in the Eugene area since childhood. She married Earl CHAPMAN on July 9, 1933, and the couple owned and operated Chapman Flowers in Eugene.
In addition to flower arranging, her hobbies included bridge and sewing. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Ellen REYNOLDS of Beaverton; a son, John Earl CHAPMAN of San Francisco; a brother Ed ELDER, of Desert Hot Springs, CA; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Her husband and a son, James died previously.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Wednesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

71, of West Main Street, Broadalbin, died Friday, 5 DEC 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born Sept. 8. 1926 in Columbia, MS, she was the daughter of James Preston and Nette HILL EEDS and moved to Texas as a child. She was a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, and moved to New York in 1955. She had resided in Broadalbin for the past 41 years.
Mrs. CHAPMAN was the treasurer of the Tryon Doll Club and a member of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the 70+ Ski Club. Mrs. CHAPMAN was a past Girl Scout Cookie Chairman, serving in that capacity for 25 years.
She was a member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church.
She married Bryon E. CHAPMAN, Jr. on June 17, 1950.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Jeannette C. WICKHAM and Nancy A. HOYT, both of Broadalbin, and Mary C. REED of DeSoto, TX; her mother, Nette EEDS of DeSoto, TX; a brother, James Preston EEDS Jr. of DeSoto, TX; seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the family residence, 36 West Main St., Broadalbin, with the Rev. Patricia A. Bush officiating. Spring burial will be in the Broadalbin Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the family residence. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home.

In 1941 she married Victor CHAPMAN in Vancouver and came north to Dawson City moving to Whitehorse in 1942. She is survived by her mother, Mrs, Margaret McINENLY of Calgary, her brother, Mr. Jack McINENLY of Calgary; sisters, Mrs. Helen WILLIAMS, Salmon Arm, B.C., Mrs. Shirley SMITH, Surrey, B.C., Mrs. Doris SCHATTENKERK, Vancouver, B.C., and Mrs. Jean Smith of Calgary. FRANCES WINSLOW CHAPMAN
88, of State Street, formerly of Range Road, Cumberland, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was borm in Gofistown, N.H., a daughter of Howard L. and Martha E. SHAW WINSLOW, and lived in Cumberland nearly all her life, attending schools there and graduating from Greely High School, where her father was principal.
She moved to Portland a year and a half ago. Mrs. CHAPMAN was described by family members as a generous woman, always doing for others before herself. This was reflected in her many years of service as social director of the Camp Fire Girls. She retired in 1975. The most important part of her life was her family, and participating in their activities. She also read several books a week.
Her husband, Everett F. CHAPMAN, died in 1966. Surviving are two daughters, Aithea HYNES of Windham and Carol JENSEN of Cumberland; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday at Lindquist Funeral Home, Yarmouth, where a funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. David Lambertson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

She was employed for 15 years by Gilman's China Store and for five years by Strawbridge & Clothier, both in Ardmore. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Ardmore.
She is survived by one sister, Mozelle CURTIS of Washington, D.C.; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lucille SIMKINS.

On January 27, 1965, he married Katherine MATTHEWS in Chicago. Mr. CHAPMAN served in the Army during World War II. He later worked as a security manager at Advanced Security in Lake Elsinore, CA, until retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Harry PAYNE of Alexandria, VA; two stepsons, Robert WOLCOTT of Olympia and Paul SPAGNOLA of Lamita, CA; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She taught school in the Augusta school system. She was teacher of the year and president of Richmond County Educational Society. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma and Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

ISABEL W. CHAPMAN
a retired schoolteacher who returned to school for an art degree at age 75, died of cancer Saturday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac.
Mrs. CHAPMAN was born in Niles, OH, and received a degree in education from the University of Michigan. After marrying Howard CHAPMAN in 1940, she taught elementary school in Summit, NJ, and in Lansing, Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills, where the Chapmans have lived since 1968. Mrs. CHAPMAN retired in 1981.
At age 75, she enrolled in the Center for Creative Studies, where she earned a degree in painting. She exhibited and sold her art locally, and was fond of painting portraits, wildflowers and animals who lived at the Detroit Zoo.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, the Birmingham Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association and the Scarab Club.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Phyllis CHAPMAN; sons Robert and Hubert; a brother, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Wm. R. Hamilton Funeral Home, 820 E. Maple in Birmingham.

Married Barbara SCHEUERBRAND, July 27, 1968, in Hof, Germany. Lifelong resident of Carbon County. Graduate of Carbon High School, Class of 1962, and later attended C.E.U. Served in the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a drivers license examiner in the Price office with 27 1/2 years of dedicated service. Member of the Price Kiwanis and Jaycees. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

She grew up and graduated from high school in MN. When she was 19 she moved to Seattle, where she met her future husband. She married Leo CHAPMAN Sept. 27, 1944, at Orofino. The couple made their home at Weippe, where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family. She collected antiques and enjoyed raising flowers and gardening. She liked to camp and fish.
She is survived by her husband at the couple's Weippe home; a daughter, Jean COLE of Weippe; four sisters, Jo SOUDER, Gladys BUCKMAN and Verna ANDERSON, all of Bemidji, and Dorrie HAMES of Prospect, OR; two brothers, Art JOHNSON of Starbuck, MN, and Morrie JOHNSON of Bemidji; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Lawrence JOHNSON, died previously.

LaWayne was born April 8, 1923, the third son and fifth child of Samuel Holden and Sarah DEAN CHAPMAN. He often commented that it was fun to have a twin sister who did not share his birthday. He was born at 11:45 p.m. and his twin sister, Loraine, was born at 12:10 a.m. the next day. His early life was spent on the family farm in the community of Groveland, near Blackfoot, ID. There he received his elementary and high school education, graduating from Blackfoot High School in May 1941. He attended the University of Idaho at Moscow until he entered the armed forces.
He married Phyllis Ruth MARLEY in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on May 28, 1942, shortly before he entered the U.S. Army where he served in both the African and European theaters. To him and Phyllis were born a daughter and four sons. The youngest son, Evan lived only a short time before he passed away as an infant.
When he returned from the military, he began working for Idaho Typewriter Exchange in Pocatello, ID, and was one of their key employees until he resigned for health reasons in 1958. After brief periods of employment with Rogers Brothers Seed Co. and at the Atomic Energy site near Arco, ID, he became an assistant city clerk for the city of Idaho Falls, and in 1963 became the first personnel director for the city of Idaho Falls. In 1969 he became a field director for Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho. This brought about his transfer to Boise in October 1972, where he served PERSI with distinction until his retirement in 1986.
He had a great love of life and of people. His magnetic personality drew people to him and all who knew him enjoyed his keen sense of humor. He was very civic-minded and enjoyed very much the performing arts. He was the driving force behind many community-wide musical productions in the Idaho Falls area. He served for many years with the Civil Air Patrol in Idaho Falls where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Throughout his life, he was active in the L.D.S. Church, serving as counselor to two Bishops, as ward, stake and regional speech and drama director, and in various teaching assignments. Service in the Boise Idaho Temple filled many lonely hours following the passing of his beloved Phyllis, and it was there that he met and fell in love with Ermadean MILES. They were married October 14, 1989, in the Boise Idaho Temple and served together as missionaries in the mission office of the Idaho Boise mission from January 1991 to March 1992. Following their mission service they continued to serve in the Boise Idaho Temple until illness forced him to take a medical leave.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Ermadean; a daughter, Kay BACON and her husband Larry of Florence, OR; three sons and their wives, Brian and Jeanne of Rexburg, ID, John and Kay, and Adrian and Tina of Idaho Falls; two stepsons and their wives, Robert and Carol MILES, and Tom and Jil MILES of Boise; and a step-daughter and her husband, Patti and Michael NANCOLAS of Caldwell; thirty-five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother, LaMar and his wife Verna of Spokane, WA, and his twin sister and her husband, Loraine and Chris FAIRCHILD of Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis and son Evan, a brother Lional, and two sisters DeEsta CHAPMAN and Mary CRAWFORD.

CHAPMAN was born Oct 11, 1905, in TX to James and Annie HARDIN. In 1924 she married Jim SMITH in Healdton, OK. He died in 1956. She married Harvey CHAPMAN in 1957. He died in 1976.
Before moving to Cottage Grove, CHAPMAN lived in Kings Valley, where she owned a restaurant. She also lived in Azusa, CA, and in OK. She was a homemaker and owned and operated Fisherman's Camp for many years.
Her interests included gardening, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, LaVern HATTENSTY of Willamina; three sons, James SMITH of Corvallis, Tony SMITH of Bend and Mack SMITH of Portland; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

She was born in Erie, a daughter of the late William G. and Elizabeth SCHRIMPER DAVIS, and had lived in Yardley for the past 38 years. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Edinboro University of PA and a master's degree from New York University. She began her teaching career at the Belle Valley School and taught there for 15 years. She then taught in the West Chester schools for two years and, in 1959, joined the Pennsbury School System, where she taught until early 1997. She had lived in Yardley for 38 years.
She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Morrisville, since 1964. She was active in the Deborah Circle, Tri-F and the Shepherd Ministry. She was a member of the Yardely-Makefield Business and Professional Women, the Makefield American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma honorary education society, the National, Pennsylvania and Pennsbury education associations, the Bucks County Retired Teachers Association and the Cambria Society of Welsh Men and Women.
She is survived by a sister, Esther THOMPSON, of Winter Springs, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Grace DAVIES of Erie; two stepdaughters, Mary TOWNE and Charlotte WHITE; a stepson, Robert CHAPMAN Jr.; four nephews; a niece; and many grandnieces, grandnephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

36, of Florida Drive died Sunday at the Greenery Extended Care Center in Worcester. He died of injuries he received following a hit-and-run automobile accident in September 1996. He was a correctional officer for the Hampden County Sheriff's Department.
He lived here most of his life and graduated from Cathedral High School. He later attended Holyoke Community College and the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Academy. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Correctional Officers.
He was a charter member of the "Crankers" Antique Car Club, a former member of the New England Antique Racers and NSCAR. He was active with the Sheriff's Department Hockey Team and the American Hapkido Association.
He leaves two daughters, Nicole CHAPMAN and Megan CHAPMAN; his parents, Richard and Rita CHAPMAN of Agawam and a brother, Scott of Cambridge.

80, died at home Nov. 18, 1997.
He requested that his remains be cremated and his ashes strewn with those of his wife at Lake Louise. No services are planned at this time.
Mr. CHAPMAN was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Litchfield, NE. He graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles. He then joined the U.S. Navy. He went to boot camp in San Diego, then went into Submarine Service, where he stayed until retiring in 1956.
Mr. CHAPMAN met his wife in grade school in Los Angeles. They married in 1939 by eloping to AZ. They traveled all over the nation and were often stationed in Honolulu. After military retirement, Mr. CHAPMAN worked for Rohr Aircraft in Chula Vista, CA, and attended San Diego State.
In 1960, he worked for the government in civil service at San Diego Naval Base as an instrument calibrations technician. He transferred to Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert in 1962, and from the to Elmendorf Air Force Base in 1967.
He and his wife lived in Eagle River until his retirement from Elmendorf in 1971, when they moved to Lake Louise and built a long cabin. They resided there until 1982, when they moved to Wasilla due to his wife's illness.
From 1975 until 1977, Mr. CHAPMAN worked on the Alaska pipeline construction project in Valdez. During the time he lived in Lake Louise, he was an avid trapper, hunter and fisherman.
He was a member of the Hudson Bay Trapper's Association, life member of VFW Post 9365 in Wasilla, U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II, American Legion Post 15 of Palmer and Amvets Post 9. He enjoyed playing pool at the Wasilla Senior Center and was excited about the center's growth. His family joined him the on many occasions for brunch and lunch.
Mr. CHAPMAN is survived by his son, Milford, and his life mate, Lynn, and her two daughters, of Wasilla; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Tom ROYER of Big Lake and Sandra and Tony DeLUCIA of Eagle River; sister, Madeline MASON of Whittier, CA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45, Mary Jane "Janey", and grandson, Jacob STROH.

74, of Caseyville, IL, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Collinsville Care Center, Collinsville, IL. Mr. CHAPMAN was retired for Local 520 Operating Engineers and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd "Chiz" and Elizabeth, nee PALMER, CHAPMAN; brothers Paul James and Gerald CHAPMAN; and sisters, Thelma McDANIEL and Betty McNABB. She was a member of Beacon United Church; past member of the Lions Club and Rebekah Lodge. She was a telephone operator for Maritime Tel & Tel and worked as a switch board operator for the children's hospital. She was a leader for the Girl Guides and Brownies. She was a housewife and mother.
Surviving are her husband, Norman (Chip); daughters, Nancy, Barrington; Linda Rodgerson, Natalie Landry, Yarmouth; Norma Liese Coulter, Australia; son, Larry, Dartmouth; brother, Robert (Bill), Orlando, FL; sisters, Pauline GILROY, Amherst; Phyllis GILLMEISTER, Ajax, Ont.; five grandchildren.

65, of Tampa, Florida died Saturday (11-22-97) at Tampa General Hospital. A native of Fitchburg, Mass., he moved to Tampa in l967. He was a retired Air Force technical sergeant and retired postal clerk.

He was married to the late Mary Carolyn LLOYD CHAPMAN. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and retired from the construction industry.

A native of Graysonia, AR and raised in Hope, AR where she graduated form (sic) High School in 1937. Ruby was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers, a member of the Sutter Auxillary, Life member of Communication Workers of America where she was a member of the executive board for 18 years. She was also a Little League mom and Den Mother in the Boy Scounts.
Cremation is under the dirction of EAST LAWN MORTUARY, Greenback Lane. Ruby will be inurned with her husband at East Lawn Memorial Park, 43rd and Folsom.

On October 12, 1997, Sondra Lere Chapman lost her year-long battle with cancer. Point Richmond resident, painter, landscape gardener, omnivorous reader, Lee had an enormous zest for life. For many years, she sold flowers and connected with our lives in front of the Santa Fe Market. A free and generous spirit, she loved nature, good food, fine wines and people. Mr. CHAPMAN died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at his home after a brief illness. Born Dec. 15, 1900, in Johnsonville, he was a son of the late Dr. James Hugh and Elizabeth HASELDEN CHAPMAN. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wofford College and University of SC, and received his law degree from USC in 1925. Before moving to Myrtle Beach, he lived in Chesterfield, where he was an attorney, mayor and master in equity. He, along with his wife, the late Flora Belle RIVERS CHAPMAN, built Chesterfield Inn Hotel in Myrtle Beach after World War II and moved to the area in 1947. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach. Mr. CHAPMAN was an owner of Sea Captains House Restaurant and Sea Island Inn, Myrtle Beach.
Active for many years in the Myrtle Beach community, he served as president of Greater Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, first chairman of Horry County Police Commission, vice president of First National Bank, a member of Horry County Development Board. He took an avid interest in politics from local to national levels.
Surviving are a son, James Robert CHAPMAN of Myrtle Beach; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

41, of Fremont died Nov. 28 after a long fight with cancer. She was an employee of Dale Hardware Co. She was born in Springfield, MA, and was a graduate of the city's Cathedral High School. She leaves her husband, Kenneth CHAPMAN; a son, Kenneth Jr.; and a daughter, Kelly CHAPMAN, all at home; her mother, Shirley TANGUAY of Springfield; a sister, Linda TANGUAY of Springfield, and aunts, nephews, and a niece.
There will be a memorial Mass on Sunday at Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. Deer Creek Mortuary of Dublin is in charge.

THOMAS CHAPMAN
83, of Vero Beach, died Nov. 1, 1997, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 6, 1914, in Isle of Pines, Cuba, and moved to Vero Beach 11 years ago from Connecticut.
Mr. Chapman attended Tabor Academy in Marion, MA, and Dartmouth college in Hanover, NH. He was with the Ship Building Division of Bethlehem Steel, NY, for 35 years.
He was a member of Community Church of Vero Beach.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Louise; two sons, George L. Chapman of Orange Park and Gregory S. Chapman, of Shallotte, NC; three daughters, Linda B. HEAD, of Miami Shores, Lisa C. FORD, of Seattle, WA, and Lucy D. YATES, of Canton, TX; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
At the request of the family there will be a private service.

THOMAS R. CHAPMAN SR
70, of Haverhill died Saturday at Hale Hospital.
Mr. CHAPMAN was last employed as a chauffeur, but spent much of his life as a truck driver with Wings Express and Haverhill-Lawrence Transport. He also owned his own service station at one time and had worked as a car salesman.
Born in Haverhill, he attended St. James School and was a member of St. Joseph Parish, both in Haverhill. He enjoyed camping.
The widower of Mae (BURKE) CHAPMAN, he leaves sons Thomas R. Jr. of Haverhill and Theodore of New Orleans, LA, daughters Patricia and her husband Warren WAGNER and Therese SANFORD, all of Haverhill, and Judith and her husband Jeffrey BEALE of Slidell, LA, a brother Joseph of Haverhill, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in St. Joseph Church. Family and friends may call tomorrow morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 358 Washington St., Haverhill.

VIVIAN STRASSER CHAPMAN
95, a resident of Hunt Community Home, Nashua, NH, since October 1990, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at the home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hanover United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ronald Fike officiating. Burial of her ashes will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. The Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. CHAPMAN was a teacher, having taught in rural schools in the Hanover area for nine years and in the Hanover Grade School for 19 years.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1902, in Bellevue, IA, daughter of William and Madge (HARKNESS) STRASSER. She married E.W. "Bill" CHAPMAN on Dec. 1, 1923, in Rockford; he died in 1988.
Before relocating to Nashua, she resided most of her life in Hanover. She was a member of the Hanover United Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, served as a church trustee, Sunday school teacher and as president of the church women's organization. She was a past matron of the former Crescent Falls Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hanover. She also served on the Hanover Public Library Board when the present structure was erected.
Vivian delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching, reading and playing 500.
Surviving are two sons, Frank W. (Lois) CHAPMAN, of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Ned E. (Betsy) CHAPMAN, of Kingwood, TX; two daughters, state Rep. Carol (Walter) CLEVEN, of Chelmsford, MA, and Eileen (Herbert) BUSS, of Lincoln, NE; and five grandsons, three granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lavern MAHAN; and a brother, J. William STRASSER.
Memorials may be given in Vivian's name to the Hanover United Presbyterian Church, the Hanover Ambulance Association and the Hanover Public Library.
