Mrs. Clarke
Mrs. Margaret Louise Beck Clarke, 79, of McRae, died Friday, March 16, 2001. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17 at Lowe’s Funeral Home. Burial was in Milan City Cemetery.
Mrs. Clarke was a homemaker and a member of Helena United Methodist Church. She was the widow of John D. Clarke.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Clarke of McRae; sisters and brother Yvonne McLain of San Antonio, TX, Barbara Warren of Suwanee, Nina Barlow of Warner Robins and Robbie Joe Beck of Gray; and several grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edge
Mary Beverly Evans Edge, 78, of Atlanta died Friday, March 16, 2001. Funeral services were private.
Mrs. Edge was a native of Bowman, SC, but had also lived in Orangeburg, Columbia, SC, Clinton and Atlanta. She was a Methodist and a retired civil service employee.
Survivors include her son, John T. Edge, Jr. of Oxford, MS.
The National Cremation Society Memorial Center of Lilburn had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Railey
Mrs. Pearl Parker “Nanny” Railey, 92, of Jones County died Monday morning, March 19, 2001, in a local hospital. Services were to be held Wednesday, March 21 at Elam Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Burial was to be at Evergreen Cemetery, in Macon.
Mrs. Railey was born in Graceville, Florida and had lived in Gray for the past eight years, having lived in Macon the previous fifty years. She was the daughter of the late William Issac Parker and Carrie Register Parker. Mrs. Railey was a homemaker and a member of Elam Baptist Church, where she was currently the oldest living member and a member of the PrimeTimer’s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Washington Railey.
Mrs. Railey was a beloved mother to her son and daughter-in-law Roscoe and Betty Railey of Gray and is also survived by brothers, Gilbert Parker, of Cottonwood, California, and William Parker, of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Jean and Ronnie Malcom of Gray, Mike and Teresa Railey of Macon and Andy and Beth Railey of Byron; great-grandchildren, John Michael Malcom, Carrie Malcom and Wesley Malcom, all of Gray, Jennifer Railey, Michael Allen Railey, Stephen Railey, Stephanie Railey, all of Macon, Leah Railey, Monica Railey and Brandon Railey, all of Byron.
Bridges Funeral Home in Gray had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith
Mrs. Kate N. Smith of Macon died Tuesday, March 13, 2001. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 15 at the World of Faith Church. Burial was in Macon Memorial Park. The Reverends William E. Davis and David Scott officiated.
Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Alfonzo and Tinie Hinton Bailey. She was a member of World of Faith Church. She was the widow of Rufus Smith.
Survivors include her children Marshall Smith of Dry Branch, Angela Hodnett of Macon and Pam Deal of Gray; mother Bertha Kirksey of Gainesville; sister Eleanor Alligood of Macon; half sister Hazel Smith of Reynolds; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Macon Memorial Park had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith
Mr. Roy M. “Bozie” Smith, Sr., 73, of Macon died Thursday, March 15, 2001. Funeral services were held March 19 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Edwin Smith officiated.
Mr. Smith was a Navy veteran and a retired electronics inspector from Robins Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lee DeLano Smith; children Roy Millard Smith, Jr. of Woodside, CA and Thomas E. Smith of Gray; mother Vivian A. Crawford of Sparta; brother Johnny Smith of Culverton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walker
Mr. C. Manning Walker, 83, of Adrian died Thursday, March 15, 2001. Funeral services were held March 18 at Hendley, Rountree and Powell Funeral Home. Burial was in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Walker was retired from Mohawk Carpet Mills in Dublin. He was a member of Emannuel Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Jones Walker; children, Bobby Walker of Swainsboro, Jimmy Walker of North Augusta, Donny Walker of Lexington, SC, Patricia Kemp of Rincon, Sue Kitchens of Gray, Barbara Soles of Scott, Jimmy Sumner and Jerry Sumner of Adrian and Betty Shepard of Thomaston; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Hendley, Rountree and Powell Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Adams
Mrs. Sallie J. Adams died Tuesday, March 26, 2002. Funeral services were held at Adams Tabernacle in Haddock with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include children, Verdell Adams Pierce of College Park; Georgie Adams, Charles Adams, and Francis Adams, all of Macon; Wilbur Adams of Detroit, MI; and John Adams of Atlanta; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
Hutchings Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lloyd
Lloyd Alexander, 75, died March 24, 2002. Services were held March 28 at the Church of the Body of Jesus Christ with burial at Ammons Cemetery on Otis Redding Rd.
He was retired from King Cole Canning Co. of Delaware.
Survivors include: daughter, Valerie A. Hill; brothers, William Alexander, James Alexander, and Roosevelt Alexander; sisters, Betty Ridley, Luzette Pitts, Beauty Snead, and Bertha Sherman; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Collins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Ms. Henderson
Sharon Hewell Henderson, 55, formerly of Brevard, North Carolina, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at her brother’s residence. Services were held Wednesday, March 27 in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Rev. John Haney officiated.
Ms. Henderson was born in Augusta, Georgia, and had lived in Jones County for the past two years. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Masters Degree in Physical Education and Health. Ms. Henderson was a Physical Education teacher with the Transylvania County School System for 27 years. She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Brevard, North Carolina. Ms. Henderson was preceded in death by her father, Rabon Carswell Hewell, Sr.
Ms. Henderson is survived by her mother, Frances Teasley Hewell of Gray; sister: Rhonda Ferris of Charleston, South Carolina; brother: Buddy Hewell of Gray; and a niece: Erin Ferris of Charleston, South Carolina.
Bridges Funeral Home in Gray had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hilburn
Leon Russell Hilburn of General Lee Road died Monday, March 25 in a local hospital. Funeral services were March 27 at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. William W. Oliver, Rev. T. J. Lewis and Rev. Alan Fennell officiating.
Mr. Hilburn, son of the late Russell B. and Nora Mae Ragan Hilburn, was born in Atlanta and attended the University of Georgia. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and was formerly owner and operator of National Freight Sales in Macon and Warner Robins. Mr. Hilburn was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, serving as Chairman of the local board. He was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and was past chairman of Staff Parish Relations. Mr. Hilburn was a member and past president of the Mac Anthony Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Clements Hilburn of Macon; his children, Linda Hilburn Bowden of Gray, Rusty Hilburn Jr. of Macon, and John R. Hilburn of Gainseille; three grandchildren, Leon Russell Hilburn, III, Taylor M. Hilburn, Brooks L. Hilburn, all of Macon; step-grandchildren, Lloyd Bowden, Jeff Bowden and Cheney Maynard, all of Juliette; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Neil Beatenbough of Fayetteville; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard L. and Michelle Hilburn of St. Petersburg, Fl.; his brother and sister-in-law John S. and Mary Clements of Augusta.
Snow’s Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mabry
George Fred Mabry, 76, of Jones County, died March 26, 2002 at his residence. Graveside services were held March 29, 2002 in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. H. Huey Gardner officiated.
Mr. Mabry, widower of Eva Maria K. Mabry, was a lifelong resident of Macon and was son of the late Dr. Robert Hugh and Eula Roberts Mabry. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving during World War 11 and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Mabry was retired from Georgia Kraft Company.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Pete Kendall of Macon; son and daughter-in-law, George and Jan Mabry of Marlton, NJ; four grandchildren, Dawn Marie Behm, Renee Elyse Orginos, Lori Anne Janney and Katherine Nichole Kendall; his sister, Mary Frances Mabry Crouch of Willmington, NC; four great-grandchildren.
Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morton
Mildred Hill Morton, 94, of Gray, died Saturday, March 30, 2002 in a local nursing home. Funeral services were held April 1 in Highview Cemetery in Gray. Rev. John Haney officiated.
Mrs. Morton was born in Monroe County and had lived in Gray for the past thirty-one years. She was the daughter of the late James Roland Hill, Jr. and Ella Mae Moore Hill and was a graduate of Jones County High School, Class of 1924. Mrs. Morton was a homemaker and a member of Gray United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thomas Morton,
Mrs. Morton is survived by her daughter: Marguerite May of Gray; granddaughter: Joanne Bottomley of Augusta; great-grandchildren: Caroline and Adaliade Bottomley, both of Augusta; a half-brother: William Hill of Wrens; and a half-sister: Sara Watkins of National City, Michigan.

Mrs. Mullenix
Mrs. Pauline H. Mullenix, 98, died Monday, March 25, 2002. Funderal services were held March 29 at Trinity United Methodist Church with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Warren Williams and Joyce Payne officiated.
Mrs. Mullenix was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Mr. David H. Mullenix.
Mrs. Mullenix was a native of Macon and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. She was a life member of both the Middle Georgia and Warner Robins Art Associations, a member of the Loving Faith Circle of United Methodist Women, and the Warner Robins Women’s Club.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Claire Harvey of Gray, Sue Conley of Tallahassee, FL., Al Hatcher of Midway, Herbert Respess III of Moore, SC., Gordon Respess of St. Mary’s, Patricia Clarke of Macon, and long-time family friend, Mary Frances Foster of Warner Robins.
Christopher Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nelson
Robert E. Nelson, 69, died Friday, March 29, 2002 in Eatonton Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Eatonton. Services were held April 2 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with interment following in the East Eatonton Cemetery. The Rev. Matthew Dennis, Jr. officiated.
A native of Quitman, Mr. Nelson resided in Eatonton for many years. He was educated in the public school system of Brooks County, Quitman. He continued his education at Albany State College earning a BS Degree and a Master from Atlanta University in Administration.
The Putnam County School System employed him for 37 years. He held the positions of teacher, Principal and Assistant Superintendent of schools. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir member and Vice Chairman of the Deacon Board.
Survivors include his wife: Eloise Nelson, Eatonton; one son: Bruce Nelson (Linda); one sister: Mary Carson (Clarence), Tampa, FL; one aunt, Sylvia Allen, Tampa, Fl; six sisters-in-law: Gloria Nelson, Opa Locka, FL, Lillie B. Standifier, Gertrude Thomas, and Katherine Odom, all of Monticello, Sandra Odom, Decatur, and Johnnie Ruth Odom, Gray; brothers-in-law: Gene Odom, Decatur, and Charlie Odom, Gray; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Hurt & Redd Funeral Home of Eatonton had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Amerson
Eugene Amerson, 64, died Saturday, May 25, 2002. Funeral Services were Wednesday, May 29 in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with burial in the Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery in Milledgeville. Rev. John Biggs officiated.
Mr. Amerson was born in Columbia County and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was retired from Brown Transport where he was a truck driver for 30 eyars. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V., the V.F.W. and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Amerson of Macon; sons, William Eugene Amerson of Macon, Robert Edward Amerson of Augusta, and Terry Lee Amerson of Jones County; daughter, Sarah Pearl Vinson of Warner Robins; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Amerson of Martinez, Harold Crawford and Robbie Crawford, both of Grovetown.
Crest Lawn Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Artman
Ginger Artman, 47, of 113 Oakview Circle, died Thursday, May 23, 202. Services were held Sunday, May 26 at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray.
Survivors include her husband, Ric Artman of Gray; sons, Jason Artman and Jeremy Artman, both of Gray; sister, Gigi Kersey of Dublin; father and step-mother, Henry and Freida Kersey of Dudley; brother, Mike Kersey of Kite; and niece, Marcie Kersey of Swainsboro.
Hart’s Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bracewell
Mark Joshua Bracewell, 41, died May 19, 2002. Graveside services were held May 23 in Pleasant Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Douglas Bush officiated.
Mr. Bracewell was born in Macon and lived here most of his life before moving to Warner Robins. He was an X-Ray Technician and a member of the Four Square Gospel Church. He attended Southwest High School and graduated from Warm Springs School. He received his Bachelor Degree from Georgia State College and his brother, Eddie Ray Johnson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia W. Bracewell of Warner Robins, GA.; son, Rayan Harold Bracewell of Warner Robins, Ga.; mother, Carol Jean Bracewell Wood of Twiggs Co., Ga.; brothers, James Pen Johnson, Jones Co., Donald Gene Proctor of Macon; sister, Eleanor Jane Proctor Clark of Jones Co., aunt, Willene Brown of Macon and many loved ones.

Mrs. Copeland
Ruby M. Copeland, 84, of Eastview Nursing Home died Wednesday, May 22, 2002. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25 at Swift Creek United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Leland Collins and Chaplain David Primm officiated.
Mrs. Copeland, wife of the late Lewis S. Copeland, was born in Johnson County the daughter of the late Joe and Nancy Howell Mason. She was a homemaker and had lived in Macon most of her life. Mrs. Copeland was a member of Swift Creek United Methodist Church and was the mother of the late Bessie Amerson and was the grandmother of the late Sherry Brock.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Copeland of Macon and Jimmy Copeland of Newnan; four daughters, Loree McCranie of Macon, Nancy Copeland of Andrews, NC, Faye Carr of Gray, and Mary Hardison of Flowery Branch; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Susie Odom of Macon, Claudia Wilson of Wrightsville, and Lillie Mae Hall of Warner Robins.
