Orville Sidney Buchanan
Orville Sidney Buchanan, age 77, died Thursday, August 23rd at the VA Medical Center, Lake City.
Born in Winter Park, FL., Mr. Buchanan lived in Lake City for 6 years having moved from Jacksonville. Mr. Buchanan, a Baptist and member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Lake City, was a retired route salesman for Flowers Bakery Company. Mr. Buchanan was a WWII Veteran who served in both the Navy and Army and was an active member of both the VFW Post 2206 and CBI (China Burma India).
Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife of 25 years, Fredna, one son Sam (Christina) U.S. Navy, Henning, TN and one daughter, Windy Lundy (Kevin) of Jacksonville. A Memorial Service with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy will be celebrated for Mr. Buchanan, Monday, August 27th at 11 AM, Eastside Baptist Church, James Ave., Lake City, Reverend Victor Simmes presides.

Linnie Williams Tucker
Mrs. Linnie W. Tucker 92, of Lake Butler Died Friday Morning, August 24, 2001 in the Health Center of Lake City after an extended illness.
She was born in Union County where she has lived her entire life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Lake Butler Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Tucker.
Survivors include: One Daughter JoAnne Perry of Lake City. Two Sons: Rodney Tucker, Quitman Texas; and Robert Tucker of Lake Butler. 11 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the Lake Butler Ward of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Russel Akers and Elder Albert Delgotto officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of ARCHER FUNERAL HOME of Lake Butler. Family will re-ceive friends at funereal home from 3 to 6 P.M. Sunday afternoon.

Linda Boston Finley
Linda Boston Finley, 52, a resident of Lake City, Florida died, Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at Shands in Gainesville, Florida after and extended illness.
Mrs. Finley was a life-long resident of Lake City, Florida and attended Holiness Congregational churches. Mrs. Finley love gospel singing and was a full believer of God and the power of prayer. Mrs. Finley was the daughter of the late C.A. Boston, Sr. and Vera Anderson Boston.
Survivors include her husband: Charles F. Finley, Lake City, Florida; One daughter, Belinda F. Furman, Kentucky; Three sons: Gerald D. & (Becky) Skinner, William J. Lumley and Elzie J. Skinner all of Lake City, Florida; Three sisters: Joyce Poitevint, Edith Davis, Jacksonville, Florida, Louise Sanders, Nashville, TN; Four brothers: C.A. Boston, Jr., George E. Boston, William G. Boston and Tommy R. Boston, all of Lake City, Florida. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Finley will be conducted on Wednesday, August 29, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Bill Davis officiating. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Ellen Lorick Heidt
Mrs. Ellen Lorick Heidt, 90, of Winter Haven, Florida died August 25, 2001. A former long-time resident of Lake City, Florida, she was born July 14, 1911, In Lexington, South Carolina.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, The Reverend Emory B. Heidt, Sr., 1996 and a daughter, Winnie Sue Heidt.
Survivors include three daughters and their husbands; Clara and Jack Phares, Winter Haven, Florida; Lindra and Howard McDaniel, Haines City, Florida; Sandra Heidt, Lake Wales, Florida. One son and his wife, Emory and Linda Heidt, Princeton, Kentucky. Two granddaughters and their spouses; Stacey and Shannon Smilee, Lake Wales, Florida; Quinn Cowart; Atlanta, Georgia. One grandson and his spouse, Wesley and Tammy Heidt, Daytona Beach, Florida, and two great-grandsons, Chris and Justin Heidt, Daytona Beach, Florida.
Graveside services will be conducted at the cemetery at Zion Lutheran Church, Marlow, Georgia, Tuesday August 28, 2001 with the Reverend Rick Sebastian officiating. She will be buried beside her husband and baby daughter.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to: Hospice of North Central Florida, 1900 Florida Gateway Center Blvd., Lake City, Florida 32024-7705.

Jerial Elder Edenfield
Mr. Jerial Elder Edenfield, 79, of Lake City died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Lake City after an extended illness. Mr. Edenfield was born in Union County and had lived in Lake City since 1965. He was a retired highway foreman with the Florida Department of Transportation. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of WW II. He was a member of Lantern Park Baptist Church in Lake City. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Anna Edenfield and his wife Lucille Hughes Edenfield.
Mr. Edenfield is survived by one daughter, Oudra Thomas of Lake City. One grandson. One great grandson. His caretakers Carl and Pauline Bielling of Providence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler with Rev. Dewey Waldron officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at Douglas Cemetery west of Lake Butler.
Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Essie Bell Hall
Mrs. Essie Bell Hall, 89, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Monday, August 27, 2001, in the Healthcare Center of Lake City, following a long illness.
Mrs. Hall was a native of Lake Butler, Florida, daughter of the late Gordon and Emma Bloome Johnson, and resided in Lake City, since 1940. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Lake City Church of God. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Ivy Drew Hall, and by two Sons, Warren E. Hall and James F. Hall.
Survivors include ; One Son Donald D. (Mary Frances) Hall, of Lake City ; Two daughters, Mary Sue (Tillman) George, of Lake City, and Linda Cornett, of London, Kentucky. Thirteen Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grandchildren and Two Great Great-Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 30, 2001, at 11:00 A.M., in the Lake City Church of God.with Rev. W.C. Cobb and Rev. Terry Hull, officiating. Interment will follow in Swift Creek Cemetery, Union County. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 29, 2001, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Betty Ann Faircloth
Betty Ann Faircloth, 71, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Monday, August 27, 2001 at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Faircloth had resided in Lake City, Florida since 1973 coming from Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Faircloth was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star. Mrs. Faircloth and her late husband were the owner's of The Leather Shop of Lake City for 20 years. Mrs. Faircloth was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Faircloth in 1990.
Survivors include one son: Gary Fair-cloth & (Liz), Altamonte Springs, Florida, one daughter: Cherie Faircloth, Orlando, Florida, three sisters: Dean Beckley, Lake City, Florida, Louise Hanson, Lake City, Florida and Nell & (Tim) Timberlake, Sylva, North Carolina. Also surviving are three granddaughters: Katie & Natalie Faircloth, Altamonte Springs, Florida and Analeila Rodriguze, Orlando, Florida.
Funeral services for Mrs. Faircloth will be conducted on Friday, August 31, 2001, 11:30 A.M. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Faircloth officiating. Mrs. Alma Teresa Camiel, age 75 resident of 607 West North Street; Lake City, Fla. died Saturday, August 25, 2001 at Suwannee Healthcare Center, Live Oak, Fla. terminating an extended illness.
Born in Valdosta, GA. Mrs. Camiel, has been a resident of Lake City for the past sixty one years.
Confessing Christ at an early age united with the St. Paul A.M.E Church. Later in life she united with the The Church of Christ and remained a member until her health failed.
Survivors include her children, Henry (Debra), Charlie, and Decarlos (Lavonda) Camiel, Alma Davis (Charles) and Loretta Camiel Johnson (Arthur James "Bo"); 2 children preceded her in death

Robert Preston Dicks, Jr., 72, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Wednesday, August 29, 2001, in the Lake City Extended Care Center, following a long illness.
Mr. Dicks was a native and lifelong resident of Lake City, son of the late Robert P. and Ruth Jones Dicks. He had been employed for many years with the Florida Department of Transportation, and had farmed his entire life. Mr. Dicks was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include; His wife, Clara F. Dicks; One Son, Robert Randy Dicks; Two Daughters, Glenda (Terry) Cutford, and Kay Dicks; Three Sisters, Shirley D. Markham, Bertie Mae (Roger) Pursley, and Alice D. Mangle; Three Grandchildren, Diana L. (Keith) Feagle, Terry L. Cutford, Jr., and Robert L. Cutford; Three Great Grandchildren, Katie L. Cutford, Caleb T. Cutford, and Noah Z. Feagle, all of Lake City.

Ladora Pearce Dicks Nettles, 89, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, after an extended illness.
She was born in Union County to Gordon S. and Mamie Ivey Pearce and lived all her life in Union and Columbia Counties. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lake City, Third Ward. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Eddie L. "Ned" Dicks and William Henry Nettles; infant daughters, Edith and Edna Dicks; a son,John L. Dicks; stepsons, Seth Nettles, and Willie Nettles, Lake City; stepdaughter, Edna Hall, Leesburg, FL; stepgrandsons, Frank Moody, Charles Nettles and Tim Briggs; two sisters, Allie Green Brown and Mina Ford; four brothers, Seth, Easter, D.C. and Carlton.
She is survived by five daughters, Emma (Remer) Hancock, Alachua, FL; Ethel Boyette, Henrietta (Joe) Kirkland, Libby (Bob) Green of Lake City; May (Jim) Edwards, Fernandina Beach, FL; two sons, Rodney (Mary Ann) Nettles, Baraga, MI and John J. (Debbie) Nettles, IV of Lake City; stepdaughters, Ruth Moody, Quitman, GA and Katie Biggs, Williamsburg, VA; stepson, James (Joyce) Nettles, Havana, FL. Mr. Nesbitt "Bill" Gray Jr.
Mr. Nesbitt "Bill" Gray Jr., age 63 of High Springs, died early Thursday morning August 30, 2001 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness.
A native of Stockton, Georgia, Mr. Gray was raised in Lake City and had lived mainly in Jacksonville and Tampa until returning to Lake City in 1987.
Some special hobbies that Mr. Gray enjoyed were bowling and also listening and singing along with his karaoke machine.
Mr. Gray was also a very avid Nascar and Dale Earnhardt fan.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of thirty one years, Mrs. Elaine C. Gray, High Springs, two sons, Kenneth William (Karron) Gray, Lake City and Dewayne Richard (Wendy) Gray, Lawtey, two sisters, Betty Jean Regar, Lulu and Martha Jo Cromwell, Jacksonville.
Four very special grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Gray will be conducted on Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. in the Biggs Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Bezaire of the Saint Luke Lutheran Church offi-ciating.
Visitation with family will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society, High Five Unit, P.O. Box 612, Lake City, FL 32056.

Connie Steel
Mr. Connie Steel, 82 of Lake City died Wednesday, August 29, 2001 in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital after an illness.
He was born July 21, 1919 to the late Connie and Elisha Steele of Briggs, Oklahoma.
He moved to Lake City from California.
He was honorably dis-charged from the U.S. Army.
Survivors are a sister Mrs. Charity S. (Zack) Johnson of Lake City.
A host of nieces of nieces, nephews and sorrow-ing friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 1, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mizell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jeremiah Wilson, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Falling Creek Cemetery.
U.S. Army Military honor guard will be from Ft. Benning, Georgia.

Gloria Jean Akins, resident of Ft. White, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2001 after an illness.
She was a graduate of Richardson High School Class of 1968, a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Ft. White, FL, and was employed at the Lake City Veterans Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 27 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving family; Father and Mother, Ernest and Maggie Akins: Six Sisters: Er-nestine Holland, Mary Legree, Elizabeth Smith and Essie Akins, all of Fort White, FL, Frances Griffin, Immokalee, FL, and Barbara Cannon, Homestead, FL.

Robert L. Faulkner
Mr. Robert L. Faulkner 84, of Starke died Sunday morning in the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Caborchard, Ky. moving to Florida in 1925, moved to Raiford from Jacksonville after his retirement from the Jacksonville Fire Department after 32 years of service. He was captain when he retired. He was a Army WWII Veteran and was Prisoner of War during services. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raiford, and a member of the Jacksonville Retired Firemans Assoc.
He is survived by one sister: Mary E. Faulkner of Starke and one brother: Paul H. Faulkner of Starke and several nieces and nephews.

Iva Mae Tucker
Iva Mae Tucker, 92, a resident of Lake City, Florida died August 31, 2001 at the Suwannee Valley Nursing Center, Jasper, FL after an extended illness. Mrs. Tucker was a native of Columbia County and had resided in Columbia and Hamilton Counties all her life. She was a Presbyterian and the widow of the late Tommy Tucker. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday September 3, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. in the Hawthorne Family Cemetery, Lake City, Florida
with the Rev. S. Wendell Hill, officiating.

Daniel Owen Cobb
Daniel Owen Cobb, 54, of Olustee passed away on Friday August 31, 2001. Mr. Cobb was a native of Olustee where he lived most of his life. He was the son of the late William and Elsie Cobb. He was an ordained minister and a member of the Church of God of Lake Butler. Survivors include his wife, of 29 years, Kathy; daughters, Reba (Keith) Land of Lake City, and Daniele (Jeff) Matheny of Lake Butler; brothers, Wilton Cobb of Olustee and W.C. Cobb of Lake City; sisters, Margaret St. John of Lake City and Pauline Bush of Laurel, MA; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, at 10:00A.M.. in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, Macclenny, with Rev. Al Lang officiating assisted by Rev. Terry Hull. Interment will follow in Olustee Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday (today) from 6P.M. until 8P.M. at the funeral home.

Robert K. Thompson, Sr., 63 of Live Oak, FL passed away Friday August 31, 2001 in the Lake City Extended Care Facility in Lake City after a long illness. Mr. Thompson was a painter and a member of the First Assembly of God in Live Oak. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife: Evelyn Thompson of Lake City. Six daughter; Gail and Steve Cohee of Piedmont AL; Sue and Dewayne Baker, of Pensacola, FL; Faye and Bobby Fillman of Lake City; Carla and Charlie Gouker, Brunswick, GA; Mary and Andy Witt of Lake City; and Sharon and Jimmy Thompson Lowery of Manchester, TN. Three sons: Glenn Thompson and Archie Davidson of both of Lake City, FL; and Kenny Thompson of Ocala FL. One sister: Mary Fouraker of Cocoa, FL. Twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, September 4, at 11:00A.M. in the Daniels Memorial Chapel with Rev. Stan Ellis officiating. Interment following in Shady Grove Cemetery. Viewing Tuesday 9-11A.M. at the Chapel. Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., Live Oak in charge.
