Mr. Clarence Lonzo Stevens
Mr. Clarence Lonzo Stevens, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at the VA Hospital in Lake City, Florida. He was born July 23, 1921 in Union County, NC, the son of the late Mr. Clarence Eugene Stevens and Mrs. Ollie Louella Finnconncan Stevens and was the husband of the late Mrs. Helen Keddy Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a retired self-employed TV repairman, served as past Commander of the VFW in De Land, Florida, having earned a Life Membership with the Order of Cooties and was the Bingo caller for 12 years. Mr. Stevens served our great country in the United States Army during World War II and was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Mr. Cleo Stevens, Mr. Clinton Stevens, Mr. Clayton Stevens, Mr. Capon Stevens and Rev. Charlie Stevens, and 1 sister, Mrs. Catherine S. Sikes.
Mr. Stevens was survived by 2 sons, Mr. Junior Ray Stevens of Milford, IL and Mr. Johnny Ray Stevens of Florida, 1 daughter, Ms. Brenda Stevens of Kissimmee, Fl, 1 sister, Mrs. Cletis S. Thomas of Waxhaw, NC, 1 stepson, Mr. John Myers and his wife Kathy of Waterford, MI, several grandchildren, 2 step grandsons and a special friend, Ms. Norma Broadwater.
The Graveside Funeral Service for Mr. Stevens will be 11:00 am, Saturday Morning, November 3, 2001 at El Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with burial to follow. The body of Mr. Stevens was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Cletis S. Thomas, 8613 Richardson King Road, Waxhaw, NC and suggested memorial contributions to King Memorial Baptist Church, PO BOX 388, Waxhaw, NC 28173.

Mr. Mark R. Rice
Mark R. Rice, age 36, of Lake City, Fla. died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001 at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Florida.
Mr. Rice was a native of Falls Church, Virginia, and moved to Lake City, Fla., in 1991 from Orange Park, Florida. Mr. Rice was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church of Lake City, and was employed at the Stamper Towing Service, at the time of his death.
Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his brother, Allen, Rice.
Survivors include his daughter Katie Lee Rice of Lake City, Florida, and his Father and Mother, Arthur and Agnes Doogs Rice of Lake City, Florida.
Memorial Funeral services will be Wednesday, November, 7, 2001 at the Epiphany Catholic Church of Lake City, Fla.

James (Ray) A. Ball
James (Ray) A. Ball, age 74, of Lake City, FL. departed this life Sunday, November 4, 2001 at the Lake City Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born September 11, 1927 in Buchannan, WV, Mr. Ball lived in Lake City for 32 years and was employed at Duval Automotive as a body and fender mechanic.
Mr. Ball is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Betty, one son James A. Ball II of Lake City, three daughters, Jayne Ball-Hernandez (Carmelo) of Moultrie, GA, Ann Ball of Lake City and Marie (Shelli) Ball of Lake City, six grandchildren, Jimmy, Shane, Donna, Brenda, Donald, Jr. and Billy, all of Lake City, three great grandchildren, a nephew, George (Ruth) Thornburg and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Delbert Stallman of Norton, OH.
Mr. Ball's family will receive friends at a visitation, Tuesday evening, November 6th from 7 to 9 PM at Columbia Funeral Home. A service for Mr. Ball will be celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 7th at 11 AM followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lake City.

Jennifer Brownridge
Jennifer Brownridge 29, of Lake City, FL passed away October 30, 2001 at home.
She came to Lake City from St. Petersburg, FL where she was a life long resident.
Survivors include a daughter Sabrina and Sabrina's dad Donald Hall of Lake City, FL, her parents Bob and Sandi Brownridge of St. Petersburg, FL, Margie and John Gonzalez of Tampa, FL, three sisters Dawn Kelso and Tina Gibson of St. Petersburg, FL, Andrea Brownridge of Holiday, FL, two brothers Bobby Brownridge of Holiday, FL and Chris Marsh of St. Petersburg, FL, a maternal grandmother Wanda Dixon of St. Petersburg, FL and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
A memorial service was held at Eternal Rock Christian Church.

Avery Ray Miller
Avery Ray Miller 61, born in Athens, TN. Lived most of his adult life in Lake City where he owned Ray Miller Dental Lab. He moved to Live Oak in 1991. He has been a resident of Advent Christian
Village in Dowling Park since 1995. Ray was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Lake City.
Ray died in Shands Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City October 31, 2001.
He is survived by two Sons, Raymond Bart Miller and James Brett Miller of Live Oak, his Mother, Callie Miller of Lake City, three Brothers, Charles Miller of Lake City, Allen Miller of TN, Ronnie Miller of Fernandina Beach, two Sisters, Sylvia Mobley of Fort White and Sue Bond of Tallahassee.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at 11 A.M. at Bethel United Methodist Church 4 miles South of Lake City on U.S. Hwy 41.

Mr. Mark R. Rice, age 36, of Lake City, Fla. died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001 at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Florida.

Kelvin Lamar Givens, resident of Sanderson, Fla. died Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at Shands at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla..
Born in Baker County in 1959 he was the son of the late Mr. Elijah Givens and Mrs. Mattie Jefferson Givens. He attended the public schools of Baker County and was a 1977 graduate. He was united in Holy matrimony to Ms. Cherly (Boone) Givens.
He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Cherly (Boone) Givens, one son, Tony Burroughs, Macclenny, Fla.; One stepson, Henry Bowden, Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Angel Burroughs, Macclenny, Fla.; mother, Mattie Givens, Sanderson, Fla., four brothers, Ronald (Vickie) Givens, Macclenny, Fla., Marty Givens, Sanderson, Fla., Craig (Lataurus) Givens, Jacksonville, Fla., Clinton Givens, Sanderson, Fla.; three sisters, Elaine Thomas, Myra (George) Bennett, and Kathleen Givens, Sanderson, Fla.; father-n-law, Johnny (Joyce) Boone, Sanderson, Fla.; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.

Rachel "Diane" Thomas Brinkley
Rachel "Diane" Thomas Brinkley, 51, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Thursday November 8, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Brinkley was a native and lifelong resident of Columbia County. She is of the Baptist faith and is the daughter of the late Jack Leo and Mildred Young Thomas.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Brinkley, Lake City, Fl. Two daughters: Jacqueline (Johnny) Trowell, Lake City, Florida and Dee Dee (Harold) Campbell, Lake City, Florida; One son: Marvin (Sonja) Wesley Brinkley, Jr. Lake City, Florida; One Brother: Rodney (Sarah) Thomas, Lake City, Florida. Eight grandchildren: Adam Hart, Brandy Trowell, Jessica Campbell, Steven Campbell, Steven Campbell, John Trowell, Taylor Brinkley, Jacob Trowell and Marissa Brinkley. Numerous nieces, nephews and special grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brinkley will be conducted Sunday November 11, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Terry officiating. Robert E. "Bob" Johnson
Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Johnson, age 72, of Lake City, Fla. died Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Shands at University of Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Fla. following an extended illness.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Virginia and had resided in Jacksonville, Fla. before moving to Lake City, Fla. thirty years ago. He was the son of the late Henry G. and Vivian Crozier Johnson. He was employed as manager of Lee & Gates Glass Company, Lake City, Fla. for twenty years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church of Lake City, Fla. and former member of the Knights of Columbus and a Navy Veteran of the Korean War,
Survivors include his wife, Jane Johnson of Lake City, Fla.: Three daughters, Susan Johnson of Ormond Beach, Fla., Kathy Gaylord of Lake City, Fla. and Christie Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.:
One son, Richard "Richie" Johnson and Teisha both of Lake City, Florida: Two brothers, Frederick K. Johnson of Luray, Va. and Coogan Johnson of Ronceverte, W.V.: Four grandchildren, Christopher Johnson of Ormond Beach, Fla.: Michael Gaylord and Shane Gaylord both of Lake City, Fla. and Stephen Gaylord of Jacksonville, Fla.: One great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Monday, Nov. 12, in the Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Mike Morse, Priest, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lake City, Fla. A rosary service will be recited at 6 P.M. Sunday, Nov. 11, with visitation following until 8:30 P.M. at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 4309 South First Street, Lake City, Fla.

Rosemary Stapleton Martin
Rosemary Stapleton Martin, 74, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Thursday November 8, 2001 in the Shands of Lake Shore Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Martin had resided in Lake City for the past seven years. Prior to living in Lake City she had resided in Miamia, Florida for most of her life, She was a member of the Miami Shores Community Church, Miami, Florida.
Survivors include Two daughters: Juanita (Hans) Heuer, Lake City, Florida and Joanne Keator, Lake City, Florida Two sons: Robert (Elizabeth) Jones, Lexington, Kentucky and William A. Jones, Lake City, Florida Seven grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Martin will be conducted Sunday November 11, 2001 at 5:00 P.M. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jake Brady, officiating. SHERRILL-GUERRY FUNERAL HOME 616 S. Marion Street, Lake City, Florida is in charge of all arrangements.

Daniel Randolph O'Briant III
Daniel Randolph O'Briant III 46, of 33230 Ryan Drive, Leesburg, FL died Thursday, November 8, 2001.
Mr. O'Briant was a Master Construction Welder. Born in Maricopa, Arizona he moved from Lake City, FL to Leesburg, FL in 2001. He was of Catholic faith.
Mr. O'Briant, III was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include one Brother; Bobby W. Rains of Cookeville, Tennessee, one Sister; Peggy M. Rains Leesburg, Florida, two nephews and four nieces.

Jack Tillman
Mr. Jack Tillman, 76 of Lake City died Thursday, November 8, 2001 in the V.A. Medical Center of Lake City.
Jack was born in Live Oak, Florida on Feb. 10, 1925 to the late Bonnie and Simmie Jenkins Tillman. He attended the public school system of both Suwannee and Hamilton . He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. After moving to Detroit, Michigan he was employed with the Chrysler Corporation for (37) Years. He was an active member of the Bulah Baptist Church of White Springs, FL.
Survivors are: A devoted sister Avie Figgs, Live Oak, FL A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and sorrowing friends. Special friends are Martine and Vivian Young and Charles and Linda White all of White Springs, FL.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mizell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Fred Scippio, officiating. Final disposition will be by cremation.

Kenneth M. Sanborn
Mr. Kenneth M. Sanborn, 47, of O'Brien, died early Monday morning in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lake City, following a brief illness.
A native of Denver, Colorado, Mr. Sanborn had been a resident of O'Brien for the past fourteen years having moved here from Old Town, Florida. Mr. Sanborn was a salesman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Sanborn was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the V.F.W in Jacksonville. Mr. Sanborn was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
Mr. Sanborn is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Shirley Brown Sanborn; his mother, Twila Sanborn, Port St. Joe, Florida; two step-sons, David Lashley and Lyle Cooper of Lake City, Florida; and a sister, Sherrie Dodsworth, Cape San Blast, Florida. Four grandsons, John Lashley, Joe Lashley, Michael Lashley, and A.J. Cooper, and a grand-daughter, Tammy Cooper, also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Sanborn will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 14, 2001, in Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Russell McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow.

William B. "Bill" Barrentine
Mr. William B. "Bill" Barrentine, 56, of Providence, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001, in the North Florida Medical Center, in Gainesville, Florida, following a brief illness.
A native of Moultrie, Georgia, Mr. Barrentine had been a resident of the area since 1979 having moved here from West Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Barrentine was employed with Gainesville Regional Utilities as a lineman at the time of his death. He retired in 1997 from Florida Power and Light after thirty one years of service. Mr. Barrentine was a member of the Local 222 Electricians Union in Gainesville, Florida, and the Providence Village Baptist Church. He enjoyed his hobby of wood working, he loved to build furniture out of wood and he enjoyed working on his acreage in Providence. Mr. Barrentine was preceded in death by his father, John Barrentine.
Mr. Barrentine is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Brenda Barrentine; a step son, Christopher Waldron (Moira Mahoney), Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Tammy McCormick (David), Providence, Florida; Sheila Barrentine (Robbie Dougherty), Port St. Lucie, Florida; his mother, Essie Mae Barrentine of Moultrie, Georgia; a brother, Mack Barrentine, Thomasville, Georgia and a sister, Shirley Mulford of Thomasville, Georgia.
Services for Mr. Barrentine will be con-ducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 16, 2001, in the Providence Village Baptist Church with Pastor Bo Hammock officiating. Private family interment services will follow. The family will receive friends from 5-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Edward Davis
Edward Davis, age 67 resident of Lake City, FL died Thursday November 8, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL terminating an extended illness.
Born in Columbia County in 1934 he was the son of the late Earnest & Beatrice Davis. He attended the public schools of Columbia County and was a retired Army Veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Three sons Edward Davis, Jr., Gainesville, FL; Cedric L. Davis, Sr., Andre L. Davis, Sr. (Cathy) of Lake City, FL; Five daughters Phillistine Davis, Debbie A. Crews (Bovell) and Donna K. Davis, all of Lakeland, FL; Beverly R. Kelsey and Rhonda "Tasha" Reed,both of Lake City, FL, Two brothers, Clemis L. Davis, Sr. (Helen) Lake City, FL, one proceeded him in death. One sister-in-law, Evelyn King, Lakeland, FL. Sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Mose Newton, age 65 resident of Lake City, Fla. died Friday, November 9, 2001 at Shands at Lake Shore Hospital following an illness.
He was the son of the late Elouise & Raymond Newton. He was a native and life-long resident of Columbia County and attended the public school here.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie New-ton; his children, Henrietta (Maderian) Williams, Clinton (Doris) Newton, Frankie (Jerome) Miller, Timothy (Marilyn) Newton, Willie Newton, Teresa (Robert) Roberson, Freddrick (Lin-da) Newton, Jospeh Newton, Raymond (Kimberly) Newton, Gregory Newton, Ernestine (Henry) Ross, Solomon (Glorris) Harrell, Samuel Harrell, Richard (Linda) Harrell, Terry (Ruth) Harrell, and Ronald Hughes. 33 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 brothers,
Percy (Geraldine) Minter and Eddie Lee Minter; 1 aunt, Lila Newton, 3 sisters-in-law, Geraldine Minter, Bertha Mae and Mary Ann; devoted friends Joe Ella Newton & Bell Denson.
Funeral services for Mose Newton, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Mt. Tabor A.M.E. Church Rev. Alton Coles, pastor, presiding. Rev. Phenix Aaron, Eulogy. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

William George Smith
William George Smith, 89, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Lake City, Florida.
Mr. Smith had lived in Lake City, Florida since 1980 coming from Miami, Florida. Mr. Smith was of the Catholic faith and a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Lake City, Florida, and also attended Old Providence Baptist Church in Lake City. He was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Smith was in World War II serving in the United States Army where he was an Army photographer for many years. Mr. Smith enjoyed photography, rare stamps and books, horticulture and was a Civil War buff.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Smith, Lake City; two sons: William Smith and Albert Smith both of Green Bay, Wisconsin; three step-daughters: Marie Dooley, Orlando, Florida; Deborah Naeimi, Charlotte, North Carolina; Valerie Penland, Gainesville, Florida; two step-sons: Raymond Penland, Coral Springs, Florida; Rory Penland, Orlando, Florida. Also surviving are five grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be conducted for Mrs. Smith on Saturday, November 17, 2001, 10:00 A.M. at the Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Legion of Lake City, Florida. Dr. Leonard Zinker
Dr. Leonard Zinker, 79, of Live Oak, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2001 in Shands at Live Oak Hospital, after a brief illness.
The Brooklyn New York native moved to Live Oak from New York state twenty years ago, was a Neurosurgeon, A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and was of Jewish Faith.
Survivors include his wife: Christine Zinker Live Oak; One daughter: Barbara Anne Zinker, Rochester, New York, One step-daughter: Diann Neinn, Live Oak; One son: Robert C. Zinker, Tampa, Fl.; His brother and sister: Natalie and Maurice both of New York, NY.

Ronald Hue Burch
Ronald Hue Burch, 51 died Nov. 9, 2001 at Shands A.G.H. Gainesville, FL following an automobile accident.
He was born in Waycross, Ga. moved to Gainesville, FL from Miami, FL 10 years ago. He was a mechanic.
Survivors include: Six sons; Darren Burch of White Springs, FL, Jerome Burch, Richard Burch, Marcus Burch, Jarod Burch, all of Lake City, FL Ronald H. Burch, Jr., Miami, FL. Four daughters; Latrina Burch, White Springs, FL, Tabitha Burch, Samantha Burch, Tasheena Burch all of Miami, FL, mother Jessie L. Burch, Gainesville, FL. Four sisters Dionysious Lively, Miami, FL, Mae Dionna Thomas Gainesville, FL, Faye Madison, Dawn Harper both of Lake City, FL. Five brothers Vernon Burch, Johnnie Burch, Jr., Lawrence Burch,Gainesville, FL Eric Burch, Miami, FL and Frederick Burch, US Navy, North Carolina. Nine Grand-children.
Funeral Services will be held on Satur-day November 17, 2001 at 1:30pm at New Day Spring Baptist Church, Lake City, FL. Rev. George Francis & Elder Joseph Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Rest Cemetery under the care of Chestnut Funeral Home 18 NW 8th Ave. Gainesville, FL 32601.
Visitation will be held at Caesar's Funeral Home 726 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Lake City, FL. from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Edward Davis, age 67 resident of Lake City, FL died Thursday November 8, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL terminating an extended illness.
Born in Columbia County in 1934 he was the son of the late Earnest & Beatrice Davis. He attended the public schools of Columbia County and was a retired Army Veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Three sons Edward Davis, Jr., Gainesville, FL; Cedric L. Davis, Sr., Andre L. Davis, Sr. (Cathy) of Lake City, FL; Five daughters Phillistine Davis, Debbie A. Crews (Bovell) and Donna K. Davis, all of Lakeland, FL; Beverly R. Kelsey and Rhonda "Tasha" Reed,both of Lake City, FL, Two brothers, Clemis L. Davis, Sr. (Helen) Lake City, FL, one proceeded him in death. One sister-in-law, Evelyn King, Lakeland, FL. Sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services for Edward Davis will be 11:00 am Saturday November 17, 2001 at Greater Truevine Baptist Church rev. Isiah Rentz, pastor, Eulogy. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn
Memorial Gardens, Lake City, FL. The family will receive friends on Friday November 16, 2001 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Combs Funeral Home, Chapel.
