James M. Hogatt
Mr. James M. Hogatt, 78, of Lake City, Florida, died late Sunday evening, March 31, 2002 in the Lake City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Franklinton, Louisiana, Mr. Hoggatt had been a resident of Lake City since 1972 having moved here from Kissimmee, Florida. Mr. Hoggatt retired from the Hercules Powder Corp. where he had worked as a timber purchaser for many years. He and his family has lived in many areas of the southeast while he was employed with Hercules. Mr. Hoggatt was a member of the Ezrie Masonic Lodge #67 in Jacksonville, Florida, and the Southside Baptist Church in Lake City, Florida. In his spare time Mr. Hoggatt liked to go fishing and he loved good cooking.
Mr. Hoggatt is survived by his wife of fifty years, Louise Hoggatt; two sons, Mike Hoggatt (Rochelle), Keystone Heights, Florida; Mark Hoggatt, Lake City, Florida; and two sisters, Christine Springs, Denim Springs, Louisiana; and Evelyn Thorn of Malibu, California.
Funeral services for Mr. Hoggatt will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 4, 2002, in the
Biggs Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Brown officiating.
Interment services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Thursday afternoon in the Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

Miss Jessica Miller
Miss Jessica L. Miller, 6, of Lake City, died late Friday evening in the Shands at the University of Florida Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Jessica had been a resident of Lake City for the past year having moved here from Vero Beach, Florida . She was a kindergarten student at Columbia City Elementary School. Jessica loved to play with her Barbie dolls, and she was a big fan of both Scooby Doo & Powder Puff Girls. Jessica was of the Catholic faith.
Miss Miller is survived by her father, Bernard "Bernie" Miller, Valdosta, Georgia; her mother & step-father, Sarah and Rich Nixon of Lake City; a half brother, Trey Nixon and a half sister, Britney Nixon both of Lake City; Maternal grandparents, Sallie Watson of Vero Beach, Florida, Calvin Watson of South Carolina; Paternal grandparents, Bernard & Sally Miller of Stratford, New Jersey.
Funeral services for Jessica will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 5, 2002, in the Biggs Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Elmer Crews officiating. Private family interment services will follow. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

Mae Register
Mrs. Mae Register, 83, of Lake City, died late Saturday evening in the Lake City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Lake Park, Georgia, Mrs. Register was the daughter of the late H.G. & Vernie Mae Hamilton Clayton. She was educated in the Columbia County School System and was a homemaker. In her spare time Mrs. Register loved to go fishing. Mrs. Register was of the Baptist Faith.
Mrs. Register is survived by two daughters, Joyce Tyre, Lake City; Betty Jean Clayton, Lake City; two sons, Richard Register, Lake City; and Jimmy Register (Beverly) of Jasper, Florida; a brother, James Clayton, Lake City; and two sisters, Inez Wallace (Spencer) and Louise Weeks, both of Lake City. Eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Register will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. J.B. "Tank" Ogburn, officiating. Interment will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

Donald Fralick
Mr. Donald L. Fralick, 63, of Fort White, died early Tuesday morning at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of High Springs, Florida, Mr. Fralick had been a resident of Fort White for the past 18 years having moved here from Moultrie. Georgia. Mr. Fralick was a retired automobile mechanic. He was an avid fisherman and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Fralick is survived by his three brothers, Paul Fralick (Carolyn), Fort White, Florida; David Fralick, Fort White, Florida; Jimmy Fralick (Martha), Callahan, Florida; a brother-in-law; Glen Usher (Harriet), St. Augustine, Florida; and a sister-inlaw, Muriel Fralick of Jacksonville, Florida. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City, Florida .

Robert E. Marcott
Mr. Robert E. Marcott, 60, of Live Oak, died late Sunday evening, March 31, 2002, in the Suwannee Health Care nursing facility following a brief illness.
A native of Independence, Missouri, Mr. Marcott had been a resident of Live Oak since 1976 having moved from Orlando, Florida. Mr. Marcott was employed with the Florida Division of Forestry for seventeen years when he retired in 1991. He then went to work for Bennett's Glass Company in Live Oak where he worked until his recent ill health. Mr. Marcott was a veteran of the United States Navy and then served for many years in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Calvary Baptist Church in Live Oak. In his spare time, Mr. Marcott loved to hunt, fish and go camping.
Mr. Marcott is survived by his mother, Dorothy Shogren, Live Oak; his wife, Lois Marcott, Live Oak; two daughters, Stacie Marcott, Venice, Florida; Robin Girgenti, Orlando, Florida; a son, Curt Marcott; Orlando, Fl., and a brother, Richard Shogren of Chuluota, Florida. Nine grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Marcott will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in the Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak, Florida, with Bro. Dale Galloway officiating. Interment will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

Mamie Christine Tyre
Mamie Christine Tyre, 89, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in the Heartland Nursing Home, Jacksonville, Florida, following a long illness.
Miss Tyre was a native of Lulu, Florida, daughter of the late William Sidney and Sarah Dicks Tyre, and had lived in Lake City, her entire life. Miss Tyre had worked as a certified nursing assistant, and was a member of the North Lake City Church of God.
Survivors include; Two Nieces, Hazel Kirk, of Jacksonville, and Katie Larramore, of Warner Robbins, Georgia; One Nephew, Carl Owens, of Jacksonville.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2002, at 11:00 A.M. in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, with Mr. Odell Rogers, officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 A.M. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 4309 South First Street, Lake City, is in charge of all arrangements.

Oni Marie Belvin
Mrs. Oni M. Belvin, 91 of Lake City, died early Thursday March 28, 2002 following an extended illness at her home.
A native of Columbia County. Mrs. Belvin was the daughter of the late Sipp and Oni Parnell.
She was educated in the Columbia County school system and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Belvin loved to cook and take care of her family especially the sick.
She was a member of Huntsville United Methodist Church, Winfield Community.
Mrs. Belvin is survived by two daughters, Keturah B. Brown and Eliza B. Bell (Rev. F.D.) both of Lake City, FL, one son, Wardell Belvin, Jacksonville, FL, Grands, Larry, Cheral, Celeste (L. C.), Cynthia, Sarah, "Toni" (Rev. Kenneth), Oni (Willie), Mark, Patricia, Michael, Lois, Sherylene (Charlton), Katrina; Emma, Wardell, Annie (Anthony), Kevin (Ami), Nathaniel (Salena) and Shauna, one sister, Emma P. William, one brother, R. L. Parnell, 36 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, God daughter, Kia, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and sorrowing friends.
The visitation will be on Friday, April 5, 2002, at Combs Funeral Home, Lake City, FL from 6-8 P.M.
Funeral service for Mrs. Belvin will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lake City, FL with Rev. Margaret Kartwe, officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Lake City, FL. The family ask to meet at Mrs. Belvin's home at 12:00 P.M.
Arrangements are under the care of BOOKER T. HUNT FUNERAL HOME, Newberry, FL AND COMBS FUNERAL HOME, 400 East Washington, St., Lake City, FL.

Carrigan Hannah Dow
Miss Carrigan Hannah Dow, infant child of John and Casey Dow, died late Wednesday evening in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital.
She is survived by her parents; her sister, Savannah Hayden Dow, Lake City; paternal grandparents, Billy & Marcia Dow, Lake City; maternal grandparents.
Sheri Scandizzo, Lake City; Larry Padgett, Live Oak. Florida; paternal great-grandmother, Pauline Tompkins, Lake City, and her maternal great-grandmother, Phyllis Johns of Lake City.
Numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Miss Dow will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 6, 2002, in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Stan Reedy officiating.
Interment will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

Virginia Parker Lowe
Mrs. Virginia Parker Lowe, 85, of Lake City, died late Thursday evening in The Health Care Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
A native of Suwannee County, Florida, she was the daughter of the late W.T. and Virginia O'Neal Parker.
Mrs. Lowe had been a resident of Lake City since 1950 having moved here from Jacksonville.
Mrs. Lowe worked for J.C. Penney for twenty years prior to retiring.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her husband, Blake Lowe.
Mrs. Lowe is survived by her sister, Callie Terry, Lake City, a step-son, Terry Lowe (Jane) Jasper, Florida; two nephews, James I. Terry (Carol) and William Terry (Peggy) both of Lake City; five nieces, Carolyn Cannon, White Springs, Florida; Doris Wilson (Charles) Lake City; Margaret Hancock (John), Webster Grove, Missouri; Patricia "Patsy" Peeler (Billy), Lake City; Janice Holloway (Bud), Lake City; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Larramore, of Valdosta, Georgia.
Three step-grandchildren, Tiffany, Tara and William Lowe and a host of great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lowe will be conducted at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2002 in the Biggs Memorial Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Wellborn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening.

Priscilla (Pat) G. English Sanders
Priscilla (Pat) G. English Sanders, 62, died Tuesday, April 2nd at her home in Lake City, FL following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Lake City. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend.
She was survived by her husband Bob, her daughters; Debbie (Garry) Brandt of St. Cloud, FL, Patty Lossow (Ernie) of St. Cloud, FL and Robyn (Steve) Smith of Green Cove Springs, FL; her sister Ann Rhodes of Plantation, FL; her step-brothers, Ralph Montgomery, Franklin, PA, Bob Montgomery, Medina, OH; her mother, Nell Montgomery of Plantation, FL, her six grand-children, Rebecca, Priscilla, Christin, Garry, Jr., Christopher and Carrie. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1801 South Marion St. on Saturday, April 6th at 2 P.M.

Wendi Ann Smith
Wendi Ann Smith, 33, resident of Shelbyville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Saginaw, Michigan, and had resided in Lake City, prior to moving to Tennessee in 1994.
Survivors include; Her Mother & Father, Linda & Mickey Willcox, of Lake City; One Brother, Robert Albert Erickson, of Atlanta, Georgia; One Sister, Michelle Marie Erickson, of Dallas, Texas; Grandmothers, Agnes Erickson, of Birch Run, Michigan, and Mary Lou Barnes, of Saginaw, Michigan..
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2002, at 2:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Blalock, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Branford, officiating.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Annie Mae Jackson
Mrs. Annie Mae Jackson, 90 of Lake City, Florida died March 31, 2002 in the Health Center of Lake City after an extended illness.
She was born on June 5, 1911 in Laurens County, GA to the late Mr. Benjamin and Irene Payne. At an early age she joined Ebeneza Baptist Church in Lauren County, Georgia. Upon moving to Lake City, She became a member of Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. C.H. Rawls. She was a dedicated and faithful member until death, having served on the usher board for Forty-Three years. She was the widow of the late Osbie (Joe) Jackson and a son Joseph Bernard Jackson preceded her death.
Survivors are: A devoted daughter, Osceola Lavern Bryant, Marietta, GA. Two grandchildren, Shawn Vanessa Bryant, New York, New York and Kristian Bernard Bryant, Syracuse, NY. Two Sisters Petranella Thomas and Nettie Adams, Rochester, New York, Sisters-in-law, Mrs. Addie (Charles) Williams, Lake City. A brother-in-law, Mr. Freddie (Naomi) Stevens, Jacksonville, FL.
Two God children Betty Kelly, Lake City and Carolyn Bruton, Jacksonville, FL. A host of nieces. nephews, cousins, and many more sorrowing friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 6, 2002 at 12:00 (Noon) at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 924 Martin L. King, Jr. Drive with pastor Rev. Alvin J. Baker, officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 P.M. on Friday April 5, 2002 at RUDOLPH MIZELL FUNERAL HOME, 609 W. Washington Street, Lake City, FL. (386)752-3166.

Johnnie Wilson (Goodbread)
Johnnie Wilson (Goodbread) died March 28, 2002 at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Waycross, Ga. She moved to Lake City from Live Oak, FL in 1949.
She was a retired teacher in the Columbia County School Board. She received her B.A. & M.S. degree from Florida A&M University. She taught in Columbia County at Kings Welcome Community School, and Minnie J. Niblack Elementary School, Richardson High School, Columbia High School, and Lake City Junior High School.
She also served as a reporter for the Lake City Reporter (black section of the news paper).
She was a member of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church Lake City, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church at 11:00 A.M., Interment will follow in the Huntsville Cemetery, Lake City. Mrs. Wilson will repsose Caesar's Funeral Home on Friday April 5, 2002 from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and at the Mt. Pisghah A.M.E. Church on Saturday from 10:00A.M. until the hour of services. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.
Family and Friends will meet at Caesar's Funeral Home at 10:15 A.M. to form the cortege.
She is survived by,, Her son John Oscar Goodbread of Jacksonville, FL., Three Grandchildren, John M. Goodbread, Cary Well, Tarra Goodbread all of Jacksonville, FL., Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends.
Services are under the directions of Caesar's Funeral Home. Alyce J. Caesar, Owner Charles Chestnut, L.F.D. & Managers.

Mary "Gaggie" Kicklighter Land Haygood
Mary "Gaggie" Kicklighter Land Haygood, age 77, of White Springs, Fl. passed Thursday, April 4, at Surrey Place Center in Live Oak, FL.
Mary was born in Waycross, GA. to the late Henry L. and Timothy Foote Kicklighter. She moved to Hamilton County 16 years ago from Tybee Island, GA.
Survivors include, Three sons, Ray Land, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Sammy Haygood, Savannah, GA. and David Haygood, White Springs, FL.; One daughter, Eletha Smith, White Springs, FL.; One sister, Julia Strickland, Guyton, GA.; 6 grand-children and 6 great grandchildren .
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 8, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah, Ga. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery in Savannah.

Virginia Parker Lowe
Mrs. Virginia Parker Lowe, 85, of Lake City, died late Thursday evening in The Health Care Nursing Facility following an extended illness.

Laura Sue "Susie" Gardner Melendez
Mrs. Laura Sue "Susie" Gardner Melendez, 61, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Sunday afternoon, April 7, 2002, at her daughters resi-dence in Gainesville, Florida.
Mrs. Melendez had been a resident of Lake City for 45 years having moved here from Mobile, Alabama.
Mrs. Melendez was a graduate of the University of Florida.
Mrs. Melendez taught school in Ft. White from 1976 until 2000 and most recently she taught 7th grade at the Richardson Middle School.
She attended the Calvary Baptist Church.
Her hobbies included gardening and playing bingo.
Mrs. Melendez was preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Gardner, ab a sister, Allie "Penny" Chambliss, a son, Craig V. Melendez and a daughter, Cathy Melendez.
Mrs. Melendez is survived by her husband of 47 years, Frankie Melendez, Lake City, Florida; one daughter, Anne Victoria Melendez, Gainesville, Florida; one sister, Sallie Beal, Lake City, Florida.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted, Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 4:00 P.M., in the Biggs Memorial Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 South First St., Lake City, Florida.
