GLENWOOD - Corinne Augusta Lund, 75, of Glenwood died Sunday at her home in Glenwood.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Lutheran Church with the Rev. Arthur Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at Hoplin Funeral Home.
She was born July 5, 1924, in Cokato to Carl G. and Esther M. (Lundsten) Tideman. She was a 1942 graduate of Cokato High School and received a two-year teachers certificate from St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1944. She taught first grade in Brooten from 1944-48.
On Aug. 7, 1948, she married Arleigh Lund in Waconia. She was employed in the office by Glenwood High School six and a half years and was a Title I teacher from 1965 to 1983 and a substitute teacher at E.N. Nordgaard.
She was active at Glenwood Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School, and as a member of Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Wedding Committee and LDR. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, Girl Scouts and Minnewaska Golf Club. She was one of the founders of Pope County Hospice, serving as secretary and volunteer.
She is survived by her husband; daughter Patricia Lund-Moe (and David Moe) of Hortonville, Wis.; son Anthony Lund of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; brothers Carl (and Aveleigh) Tideman of Philippi, W.Va., Philip (and Vivian) Tideman of Wahkon and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Betty L. Hoekstra
Feb. 2, 1931 - May 17, 2000
PAYNESVILLE - Betty Lou Hoekstra, 69, of Paynesville died Wednesday at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crystal Hills Assembly of God Church near Paynesville with the Rev. Lonnie Gleitz, the Rev. Mark Olson and the Rev. Denny Curran officiating. Burial will be in Paynesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Brooten to Oscar and Ethyl (Pettit) Gunion. She was a 1949 graduate of Brooten High School.
On July 15, 1950, she married Clarence Hoekstra in Brooten. They lived in Spicer, Greenleaf, and in 1974 moved to Paynesville. Clarence died Oct. 13, 1976. She was employed as head cook by Lake Geneva Christian Center in Alexandria for 27 years.
She was a member of Crystal Hills Assembly of God Church near Paynesville.
She is survived by her sons Eugene (and Janelle) of Litchfield, Barry (and Tammy) of Hawick; daughters Pam (and Doug) Anderson of Zumbrota, Linda (and Steven) Snead of Walker, Becky (and Steven) Schwandt of Paynesville, Cindy (and Randy) Hertzberg of Paynesville; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers George (and Sally) Gunion of Glenwood, Don Gunion of Valdez, Ala., Darwin (and Garnett) Gunion of Mound; sisters Lorraine (and Don) Everson of Grove City, Marvis (and Art) Durene of Holdingford, Marilyn (and John) Bosma of Mound, Carolyn (and Stephen) Blum of Austin, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Borghild J. Midtun
Dec. 12, 1910 - May 16, 2000
GLENWOOD - Borghild J. Midtun, 89, of Glenwood died Tuesday at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at All Saints Chapel in Glenwood Retirement Village with the Rev. James Gronewold and the Rev. Eileen Mehl officiating. Burial will be in Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery in Terrace.
Arrangements are with Hoplin Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Bangor Township, Pope County, to Ben and Petra Brosvig. She was a 1928 graduate of Sedan High School and took the rural course at St. Cloud University. She taught school in Pope County for three years.
On May 6, 1931, she married Leslie Midtun. They farmed several years and operated Sedan Grocery Store for 14 years.
She was a lifelong member of Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid and circle and taught Sunday School.
She is survived by her brother Melvin (and Celia) of Alexandria and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1978, three sisters and one brother.

Rose E. Kroc
Nov. 11, 1907 - May 17, 2000
MORRIS - Rose E. Kroc, 92, of Morris, formerly of Excelsior, died Wednesday at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.
Her graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Cemetery of the Resurrection in Excelsior with the Rev. Mark Dosh officiating.
Arrangements are with Hoplin Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, including David (and Jan) of Glenwood, one daughter, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandson, four brothers and three sisters.

Julaine M. Haydt
July 10, 1926 - May 17, 2000
APPLETON - Julaine Marie Haydt, 73, of Appleton died Wednesday at Appleton Municipal Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton with the Rev. Scott Nagel officiating. Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Vaala Funeral Home in Appleton, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born July 10, 1926, in Minneapolis to John G. and Marie (Ogren) Torgerson Sr. Her family moved to the Louisburg and Appleton area where she attended rural school.
On Dec. 2, 1942, she married William Nelson in Minneapolis. She was postmaster at Rutledge, owned the general store at Rutledge, was employed by the co-op in Finlayson several years, by the nursing home in Rush City, and did home health care in Braham.
On Oct. 16, 1971, she married Clark E. Haydt in Pine City. They lived in northern Minnesota, moving to Appleton in 1981. She received her GED at the age of 64 years.
She is survived by her children Jerry (and Kathy) Nelson of Isanti, Bonnie Trager of Appleton, Linda (and John) Ruter of Eagle Bend, Johnna (and Ted) Ruter of Alexandria; stepsons Gerald (and Sally) Haydt of Pennsylvania, Ronald (and Shirley) Haydt of Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Jane (and Donald) Sauter of Pine City, Vivian Bertram of Granite Falls, Ruby Versaevel of Appleton; brothers Gale Torgerson of Appleton, Richard (and Mary) Torgerson of Blaine, Thomas (and Dianne) Torgerson of Cedar, Bernard (and Sandy) Torgerson of Granite Falls, John Torgerson Jr. of Appleton, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clark on Aug. 2, 1997, two brothers, son-in-law Roger Trager and one stepgrandson.

Janet L. Pederson
Jan. 6, 1939 - May 17, 2000
EVERGREEN, Colo. - Janet Leone Pederson, 61, Evergreen, Colo., formerly of Spicer, died Wednesday in Evergreen.
Services will be at a later date. Affordable CARE Funerals and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Willmar to Reuben and Hazel Pederson of Spicer. She graduated from Willmar High School. She attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., before moving to Aberdeen, S.D. She eventually became an auditor for the state of New Mexico.
She is survived by daughters Susan Jeffres of Evergreen, and Marren Davidson of Albuquerque, N.M., and son John Harper of Caney, Kan.

Ray M. Weber
July 4, 1914 - May 18, 2000
BIRD ISLAND - Ray M. Weber, 85, of Bird Island, died Thursday at Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Evangelical Free Church in Hector with the Rev. Russell Swift officiating. Burial will be in Bird Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born July 4, 1914, in Hector, to William and Janette (Wenz) Weber. He attended Hector schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II including time in the South Pacific Theatre. He returned to Bird Island where he farmed all his life.
He is survived by his brothers Russell of Bird Island, Robert (and Sandra) of Granite Falls; sister Dorothy Weber of Willmar; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

Harold Harbeck
GRANITE FALLS - Harold Harbeck, 70, of Granite Falls, died Wednesday at Granite Falls Hospital.
His memorial service will be at a later date in Sioux City, Iowa. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
He was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Sioux City. He lived in Sioux City where he was employed as a machinist by the railroad. He and his wife Velma retired to Granite Falls.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Tracy (and Rick) Mead of Sioux City, three grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Grover Mersbergen
Jan. 29, 1903 - May 18, 2000
INWOOD, Iowa - Grover Mersbergen, 97, of Inwood, Iowa, died Thursday at Fellowship Village in Inwood.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Christian Reformed Church in Inwood with the Rev. Dave Heilman officiating. Burial will be in Prinsburg.
Visitation will be Sunday, with family present 7:30 to 9 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood (712-476-2106).
He was born Jan. 29, 1903, in Genderen, Noord Brabant, The Netherlands, to Lawrence and Lorraine (Schroeders) Van Mersbergen. He immigrated to the United States in 1912, settling in northern Iowa. He moved to Clara City. In 1927, he married Jennie Overlander in Clara City. They farmed 10 years and then moved to Iowa where he operated gas stations, and the John Deere Implement Business in Inwood. They retired to Raymond and Willmar. Jennie died in 1979 and he returned to Inwood. He married Tillie Van Bemmel.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Lorraine (and the Rev. Ken) Vis of Grand Rapids, Mich.; stepchildren Bernie (and June) Verberg, Brownie (and Harold) Faber, Rosie (and Lyle) Kahl; brother John (and Gertrude) Mersbergen of Prinsburg; sister Lena Kampstra of Willmar; grandchildren; and stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and three sisters.

Clarence Kjos
March 27, 1911 - May 18, 2000
BELGRADE - Clarence Kjos, 89, of Belgrade, died Thursday at Belgrade Nursing Home.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sunburg Free Lutheran Church in rural Sunburg with the Rev. Carl Hort officiating. Burial will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Brooten.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.
He was born March 27, 1911, in Lake Johanna Township, Pope County, to Fred and Hannah (Huseth) Kjos. He attended District 4 Lake Johanna Township school. He farmed the family farm. He was employed by Distribution Construction Company, retiring in the early 1970s. On April 24, 1967, he married Myrtle Quam and they lived north of Sedan. He lived in Glenwood and in 1997 moved to Belgrade Nursing Home.
He is survived by his stepson John (and Irene) Quam of Willmar; stepdaughter Arlene Boyle of Cottage Grove; stepdaughter-in-law Arlene Quam of Brooten; eight stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and stepson Sigvold Quam.

Melvin O. Bjerkeset
June 27, 1920 - May 19, 2000
LITCHFIELD - Melvin O. Bjerkeset, 79, of Litchfield died Friday at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield.
His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield with the Rev. Paul Holle officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Military honors will be done by the VFW.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born June 27, 1920, in Huron, S.D., to Ole M. and Melvina (Melsness) Bjerkeset. His family moved to the Sacred Heart area to farm when he was young. He attended country school through the eighth grade.
He began serving in the United States Army on Oct. 7, 1941, and served until Oct. 1, 1945. He fought in battles in the Rhineland and Ardennes, in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned the Bronze Star and several other medals for service.
He worked in a stone quarry and as a farm hand near Sacred Heart after he was discharged from the Army. He then worked for a few years at a canning factory in Olivia before working as a farm hand for Saban Peterson. He worked for Saban and Wayman Peterson where he worked for more than 16 years.
He is survived by sisters Pearl Martch of Homewood, Ill., and Mae (and John) Mulenburg of Glencoe; brothers Merril (and Tillie) of Sacred Heart, Kenneth (and Terry) of Ankeny, Iowa, and Odell of Las Vegas; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Frances A. Bjork
Aug. 31, 1920 - May 17, 2000
CLARISSA - Frances A. Bjork, 79, of Clarissa, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday at the Greater Staples Hospital in Staples after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 31, 1920, to Cecil and Christina (Troelson) Baker in Willmar. On Nov. 26, 1935, she married Wendell Bjork. They lived in Willmar until 1995, when they moved to Clarissa.
She is survived by her husband; son David of Eagle Bend; sister Marion Melby of Willmar; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters and two sisters.

Inez Bornhorst
Aug. 27, 1910 - May 18, 2000
MADISON - Inez Rosella Larson, 89, of Madison died Thursday at the Madison Lutheran Home.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeff Horejsi officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison.
She was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Providence Township, Lac qui Parle County, to John and Julia (Fassbender) Larson. She attended District 59 country school.
On Oct. 16, 1935, she married Andrew F. Bornhorst in Madison. She worked as a homemaker on the farm. She did volunteer work at the nursing home and cleaned the church.
She is survived by her husband; children Anita (and John) Hallaway of Holloway, Robert (and Marilyn) of Wichita, Kan., Irene (and James W. Aust) Bornhorst of North Branch, William of Minneapolis, Michael of Madison and Edith (and Dennis) Steffen of Canby; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Cecilia Keilen of Madison, Verna Dye of Independence, Mo., and Irene Yoke of Kansas City; and brothers Alvin and Sylvester Larson of Canby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth; and four sisters, one in infancy.

Sylvia Lanning
May 26, 1909 - May 23, 2000
DAWSON - Sylvia Lanning, 90, of Dawson died Friday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.
Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with the Rev. Paul Christopher and Rev. Kendall Stelter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
She was born May 26, 1909, to Carl and Randina (Lindvik) Burns near Granite Falls. She attended eight years of country school before starting to work.
On Aug. 26, 1931, she married Selmer Lanning. They farmed near Maynard until they purchased a farm and moved southeast of Dawson in 1942.
They moved to Dawson in 1960 after retiring. She worked for three years for the hot lunch program at school, then for seven years at the Dawson Drapery Shop. Selmer died in 1992. She moved to the Johnson Memorial Home in 1995.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school.
She is survived by daughter Gladys (and Harold) Williams of Raymond: son Ferman (and Doris) of Plainview; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Cora Thorstad of Granite Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mavis; a sister; and a brother.
