Kenneth L. Potter
July 29, 1926 - May 20, 2000
RENVILLE - Kenneth L. "Ken" Potter, 73, of Renville died Saturday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Renville with the Rev. Neil Westby and Rev. Marlowe Potter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
He was born on July 29, 1926, in Burnstown Township, Brown County, to Herman and Gurina (Sorbel) Potter. He grew up in the Springfield area, graduating from Springfield High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army as a surgical technician from 1945 to 1946, leaving the service earlier than expected to work on the farm.
On March 7, 1948, he married Carol Brandt in Emmet Township. They lived in Redwood Falls and Mankato, where he worked in the Newberg Mill Shop. They moved to the family farm south of Danube in the fall of 1953. They retired from farming in 1989 and moved to Renville in 1992. He continued working as a truck driver with the Cenex Depot in Renville until 1999.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, the Renville American Legion and was a former member and commander of the Danube American Legion. He also served with the Danube School Board, the Co-op Elevator Board, the Telephone Board and the Mid-American Dairy Association.
He is survived by his wife; children Joyce (and Ronald) Kvaas of Shoreview, Dean (and Kris) of Litchfield; Keith (and Brygida) of Danube and Kay (and Robert) Wright of St. James; brother Danny (and Ramona) of Redwood Falls; sisters Marilyn Lau of Waseca and Ethel (and Ken) Keil of Redwood Falls; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Delsa G. Alexander
April 20, 1905 - May 19, 2000
GLENWOOD - Delsa G. Alexander, 95, of Glenwood, formerly of Brooten, died Friday at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Home with the Rev. Arne Thomassen officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brooten.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel. Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 20, 1905, in Laurium, Mich., to George and Alice (Lincoln) Alexander. She moved with her family to Brooten, where she grew up. She graduated from Brooten High School in 1923, then graduated from the St. Cloud State Teacher's College.
She taught grade school for more than 20 years. Her family operated the Park Hotel in Brooten for many years. She lived in the hotel during her later years. She retired in 1962.
She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Mattie L. Tischer
March 14, 1905 - May 24, 2000
MONTEVIDEO - Mattie Lillian Tischer, 95, of Montevideo died Wednesday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Lois Knutson officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born March 14, 1905, in Bristol, Iowa, to John and Mertie (Miller) Tebben. She and her family moved to Chippewa County where she attended rural school.
She married William Tischer in Clara City. They farmed in Chippewa County. William died in 1969. She moved into Montevideo in 1969. She lived at Luther Haven Nursing home the past one and a half years.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and involved in Ladies Aid and circle.
She is survived by her daughters Ardys Zimmerman of Montevideo, Betty Zimmerman of Chaska, Phyllis (and John) Vivion of Willmar; son Kenneth Tischer of Chaska; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Doris Barnard, sons Leo Tischer Sr. and Robert Tischer Sr., three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.

Jennings A. Agre
March 22, 1913 - May 24, 2000
MADISON - Jennings Alton Agre, 87, of Madison died Wednesday at Madison Lutheran Home in Madison after a battle with bone cancer.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield with the Rev. Paulis Pilgrim officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Boyd.
He was born March 22, 1913, in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Joseph and Anna (Estling) Agre. He attended rural schools. With his uncle, he farmed west of Boyd.
In September 1956, he married Palma (Fremo) Helgeson in Montevideo. They farmed west of Clarkfield for seven years, and in 1964 moved northeast of Boyd, farming until retirement in 1975. In December 1997, he moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo, and on July 7, 1999, moved to Madison Lutheran Home.
He was a member of Boyd Senior Citizens, Sons of Norway and served on church boards.
He is survived by his wife of Madison Lutheran Home; daughter-in-law Carleen Helgeson; one grandson; sister Alvina "Dolly" Baker of New Richmond, Wis.; brother Art of Montevideo and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepsons John Helgeson and David Helgeson, one brother and one sister.

Adeline H. Moe
Oct. 15, 1930 - May 24, 2000
APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Adeline Harriet Moe, 69, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Her memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Gary Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Starbuck to Henry and Alice (Pederson) Larson. She attended Starbuck schools.
On Nov. 15, 1952, she married Melvin Moe in Starbuck. They lived in Willmar. She was a homemaker and employed part-time by Willmar VFW for 15 years. They moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., in 1995.
She was a member of Willmar VFW Auxiliary and Cooties.
She is survived by her husband; children Ronald (and Cathy) Moe of Willmar, Richard (and Sandy) Moe of Berthoud, Colo., Ruth (and Todd) Starz of Sioux Falls, S.D., Randy (and Chris) Moe of Willmar; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Marvel (and Harold) Hanse of Minneapolis, Frances (and Orvald) Moen of Starbuck and Helen Hoverud of Starbuck.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Donald A. Johnson
Aug. 4, 1908 - May 24, 2000
GLENWOOD - Donald A. Johnson, 91, of Glenwood, formerly of Menahga, died Wednesday at his home.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Chapel at Glenwood Retirement Village. Burial will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the chapel. Arrangements are with Hoplin Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Carver to Andrew and Amanda Johnson. He was a 1926 graduate of Sebeka High School, completed undergraduate studies at Gustavus Adolphus College in 1930, and received his master's degree in school administration from the University of Minnesota.
On Aug. 10, 1936, he married Suoma I. Nissi in Floodwood. He served 38 years in the field of education, 13 years in Ogilvie and 25 years in Menahga, retiring as Menahga school superintendent in 1969. In June 1986, they moved to Glenwood.
He was a member of District 24 and Lake Region and Park Region Conferences of Minnesota State High School League, serving as chairman. He was a member of Menahga Civic and Commerce Association, serving as president, and Menahga Conservation Club. He also was a member of Wadena County Housing and Redevelopment Authority for 17 years and a member of First English Lutheran Church in Menahga. He was a member of Glenwood Senior Citizens and attended services at All Saints Chapel.
He is survived by his son Robert (and Nancy) of St. Cloud; two grandchildren, and sister Pearl Johnson of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and two infant sisters.

Edward J. McLaughlin
March 5, 1915 - May 15, 2000
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Edward John McLaughlin, 85, a longtime resident of Meeker County, died May 15 in Phoenix, Ariz., where he and his wife and family lived the past three years.
He was born March 5, 1915, near Manannah to Rose (Ackerman) and John McLaughlin. They moved to Darwin.
On June 1, 1937, he married Irene Johnson. They operated various farms east of Litchfield, retiring from farming in 1953. He was employed by Land O' Lakes Creamery.
He is survived by his wife; children Rose Ann Feigenbaum of Phoenix, Marie (and Larry) Bolster of Woodland Hills, Calif., Alice (and Mike) Pierce of Federal Way, Wash., Marcella Takemoto of Phoenix, Larry McLaughlin of Phoenix and Neuilly en Sancerre, France; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Jim Carlson
Dec. 29, 1935 - May 25, 2000
WILLMAR - James Alton "Jim" Carlson, 64, of Willmar died Thursday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Sandy Hanawalt officiating. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Lake Andrew Township, Kandiyohi County, to Walter R. and Lillian A. (Bergman) Carlson. He was a 1953 graduate of Willmar High School.
On Jan. 21, 1956, he married JoAnn F. Carlson in Pennock. On June 14, 1991, he married Carolyn Hilborn in Willmar. He was employed in route sales and as a field representative by Oak Grove Dairy for 44 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, serving as an usher and on church council. He was a member of Willmar Elks and a past chairman of the board of trustees.
He is survived by his children Jolene (and Randy) Hodson of St. Anthony, Jeffrey (and Michele) Carlson of Victoria, Jan Carlson of Eden Prairie; five grandchildren; and siblings Wendell (and Marilyn) Carlson of Willmar, Roger Carlson of Willmar, and Lois (and Lowell) Fostervold of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Florence Anderson
March 1, 1903 - May 25, 2000
ALEXANDRIA - Florence Amy Evangeline Anderson, 97, formerly of Clarkfield, died Thursday at Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield with the Rev. Julie Smith officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Bernadotte Lutheran Cemetery in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services. Arrangements are with Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield.
She was born March 1, 1903, in Nicollet County, St. Peter. She attended country school in New Sweden and Gustavus Adolphus College.
On Aug. 19, 1922, she married Roy R. Anderson, and they lived in Clarkfield. She was involved in his insurance business. Roy died in 1991, and she moved to Fargo, N.D.
She was active in Augustana Lutheran Church and community organizations.
She is survived by her daughter Lois (and Deane) Nelson of Fargo, N.D., two grandsons and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.

Anetta H. Fox
Jan. 5, 1906 - May 25, 2000
APPLETON - Anetta Hattie Fox, 94, of Appleton died Thursday at Appleton Municipal Nursing Home.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Appleton with the Rev. Jon Marburger officiating. Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Vaala Funeral Home in Appleton, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Jan. 5, 1906, in Rockford to Jessie and Hattie (Hays) Snodgress. She attended school through the eighth grade near Lake Charlotte.
On Sept. 2, 1925, she married Walter Fox in Hanover. They farmed in Lamberton and Appleton, retiring into Appleton in 1963.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and active with women's fellowship.
She is survived by her children Marjorie Gainder of Escondido, Calif., Lloyd (and Norma) Fox of Appleton, Russell Fox of West Cliff, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Jacobs of Loretta and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on April 16, 1983, seven brothers and five sisters.

Geneva Reed
Nov. 30, 1916 - May 27, 2000
WILLMAR - Geneva Conradine Reed, 83, of Willmar died Saturday at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Steven Knudson officiating. Burial will be in the Cloverleaf Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born Nov. 30, 1916, on the Swenson Farm in Arctander Township in Kandiyohi County to Melvin and Clara (Thorson) Swenson. She attended Willmar High School.
She married Oswald M. Reed on Sept. 28, 1935, in Milbank, S.D. The couple resided in Willmar and in 1942 moved to Eagle Lake. They spent the winters in Mission, Texas, for the last 20 years.
She was a member of the Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. She served on the Rebecca Circle, Ladies Aide, Altar Guild and as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Little Crow Lapidary Society and the Lapidary Club in Mission.
She is survived by her husband; children Gerald (and Carolyn) Reed of Willmar, Robert (and Betty) Reed of Denver, Colo., Ivan (and Heather) Reed of Duluth, Patricia Moore of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings Helen (and Myrus) Knutson of Joshua Tree, Calif., and Lowell (and Janet) Swenson of Burnsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one in infancy, and a brother.

Darrel 'Frank' Kaping
Feb. 5, 1927 - May 28, 2000
LITCHFIELD - Darrel Ralph "Frank" Kaping, 73, of Litchfield died Sunday at his home in Cedar Mills Township, Meeker County.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Bonnie Arnold Clokey officiating. Burial will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cedar Mills Township.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and one hour preceding the service at the church.
He was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Hutchinson to Herbert F. and Mamie (Klitzke) Kaping. He attended country school at district #82 through the eighth grade. He worked on the family farm.
He married Grace M. Swanson on Jan. 20, 1951, in rural, Cosmos. They farmed nearly 50 years in Cedar Mills Township.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, rural Cosmos, and served on the board of directors for the Hutchinson Co-op (Cenex) from 1974-77. He was active in the National Farmers Organization, a member of the Cosmos Saddle Club and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife; sons Darrel Jr. (and Diane), Gary (and Amanda), Reed (and Nancy), Ross (and Joyce), and Lee Kaping, all of Litchfield; daughter Sheila (and Neil) Pearson of Grove City; 15 grandchildren; brothers Donald (and Lillian) Kaping of Litchfield, and Herbert (and Janet) Kaping of Fort Ripley; sisters Sharon Wegner and Tina Dolezal, both of Hutchinson, and Eunice (and Raymond) Ulrich of Cosmos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Nancy Kaping and one sister.

Emilia Ann Keltgen
Feb. 24, 1990 - May 26, 2000
EAGAN - Emilia Ann "Emi" Keltgen, 10, of Eagan and formerly of Olivia, died Friday at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis of complications resulting from leukemia.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with the Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 24, 1990, at Olivia. She was a fourth-grader at the Pinewood Elementary School in Eagan. She battled leukemia for the last eight years.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather Joan and Brad Billmeyer of Eagan; siblings Tori of Eagan and Brent of Danube; maternal grandparents Del and Jean Yeschick of Renville; paternal grandmother Beverly Keltgen of Atwater; stepgrandparents Larry and Mary Billmeyer of Eagan and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her father Jim Keltgen and her paternal grandfather Keith Keltgen.
