Delbert D. Henry
Delbert D. Henry, 73, died about 6:30 p.m. March 30, 2004, in Boulder County.
The son of Jess Henry and Violette Jane Brownyard Henry, he was born June 20, 1930, in Garden City, Kan. He married Shirley Harmon Feb. 9, 1975, in Salida.
He worked for New Jersey Zinc in Gilman for 23 years.
Mr. Henry is survived by his wife, Shirley Henry; brother, James Henry, Salida; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Liascos; Pam Liascos; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sinopole; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Paris and sons, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; Anst Liascos, Phoenix, Ariz. and one grand niece and seven grand nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the cancer or lung association of the donor’s choice.

Mable C. Neilly
Mable C. Neilly, 75, died April 15, 2004, at her home in Salida after a long illness.
Mrs. Neilly is survived by her husband, Pat; daughter, Kathleen; son, Mike (Leann) and grandchildren, Alec and Kyra.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Fairview Cemetery.
The family has requested no flowers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National American Indian Association, through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Mable C. Neilly were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery.
Rev. Christine Richardson officiated.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Raymond Thomas Devereaux
Raymond Thomas Devereaux, 52, Salida, “Ray Ray” as he liked to be called, died April 5, 2004, while working on a road construction site leading into Monte Vista.
He was born May 14, 1951, in Indiana to R.T. and Eleanor Devereaux.
Mr. Devereaux loved the sea. He was a commercial deep sea fisherman most of his life in Florida and Belize.
He was working with contractors on road construction in Colorado.
Mr. Devereaux enjoyed building on his land in Saguache, landscaping, cooking, wrestling with sharks, learning new information about history, science, medicine and holistic health and visiting friends.
He loved animals – especially dogs. He loved relaxing at home with his family in Salida.
He was an Episcopalian and his main church was the outdoors, nature, the mountains, seas and Mother Ea-rth.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Lee; his dog and best friend an Aussie/lab named Argel; sisters, Susie Swaby and Dee Patty and both his parents.
Cremation was chosen by his family.
A memorial to celebrate and honor his life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at his home at 142 Poncha Blvd., Salida.

Jane Hamilton Wilson
Jane Hamilton Wilson, 83, died April 20, 2004, in Denver
She was born in Oak Park, Ill., Nov. 23, 1920, the daughter of Henry Raymond Hamilton, Jr and Louise Barlow Hamilton.
Wilson graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., attended Colorado College and was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
She married John Patrick Trevor in 1942 and they had a daughter, Susan Whitney. Following Patrick’s death in 1949, she married Chicago businessman George R. Wilson in 1953. This union melded Jane’s daughter Whitney, and George’s twin sons, Jay and Jerry.
The birth of their youngest daughter, Pam, completed the family. Wilson and George raised their children in suburban Chicago and semi-retired to the Nathrop, area in the early 1970s where they owned Tri Lazy W Ranch.
Wilson was active in Salida-Aspen Concerts, The Noteables and Antero Skikers. After George’s death in 2000, she moved to Denver as a resident of Brighton Gardens Senior Living.
She will be remembered for her love and appreciation of classical music and the humorous “spoonerisms” she delivered at many family occasions. Always proud of her heritage, she took great pride in her ancestors’ early settlement of the Chicago area.
Wilson is survived by her sons Jay (PK) Wilson of Nathrop; Jerry of Chicago, and daughters Whitney Pierson of Boise, Idaho and Pam (John) Patterson of Columbus, Mont.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her sisters; Mary Louise McAllen of Lancaster, Ohio; Elizabeth (Thomas) Yeakle of Pasadena, Calif. and Caroline Hoyt of San Antonio, Texas.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Patrick Trevor and George Wilson, her parents, brother Henry and granddaughter Cindy Wilson.
A celebration of her life will be held during the summer at Tri Lazy W Ranch, 11200 E. CR 270, Nathrop with time and date to be announced later.
People may remember Wilson through gifts to Salida-Aspen Concerts, P.O. Box 13, Salida, CO 81201 or Shriners’ Hospitals for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707-3392.

Jacalyn "Jacky" Rae Tubbs
Jacalyn “Jacky” Rae Tubbs, 54, died May 4, 2004, in Cañon City.
She was born July 31, 1949, in Prescott, Ariz., a daughter of the late Ernest and Sybil (Keen) Martin.
A 20-year resident of Salida, she moved to Cañon City six years ago.
She is survived by her son, Tony (Rene) Wendt, Cañon City and grandchildren, Anthony, Courtney, Crystal and April.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Free Methodist Church, 501 Griffin in Cañon City. A family gathering will follow services at 1210 Doris Drive.
Arrangements are through Holt Family Funeral Home, Cañon City.

Linda M. Fehling
Linda M. Fehling, 63, Howard, died May 5, 2004, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
She was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Adair, Iowa, to Frank and Mary (McDonnell) Ward.
She married Lawrence Fehling Dec. 26, 1975, in Denver.
Mrs. Fehling and her husband moved to Howard in 1995 from Arvada.
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Get Together Club.
Mrs. Fehling worked for Equifax as a credit examiner for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Fehling is survived by her husband, Lawrence Fehling of Howard; brothers, Eugene (Crystal) Ward, Mc-Cook, Neb.; Francis (Joyce) Ward, Iowa City, Iowa and Byron (Joan) Ward, Mar-shville, N.C. and many nieces and nephews.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Lewis and Glenn Fu-neral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial is set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Adair, Iowa, at a later date.
Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Linda Fehling
Mass of the Christian Burial for Linda Fehling was held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Jos-eph Catholic Church.
Fr. Henry Grodecki CM officiated. The soloist was Jennifer Hammond and organist was DiAnn Bourget.
Musical selections were “I Know My Redeemer Lives,” “Jerusalem My Happy Home,” “On Eagles’ Wings” and “You Are Mine.”
Pallbearers were Luke Ward, Rudy Torres, Ben Torres, Ramon Torres, Bob Goos and John Krizmanich.
Honorary pallbearers were Francis Ward and Bob Cho-vanec.
Interment will be Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Adair, Iowa.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Michael J. Ryan
Michael J. Ryan, 54, died May 1, 2004, at his residence in Elko, Nev.
He was born Oct. 30, 1949, in Dodgeville, Wis., to Syl-vester and Helen Ryan. He was raised and schooled in Wisconsin.
Mr. Ryan moved west in the mid-1970s to attend Colorado Mountain College, where he met his wife of 25 years, Marci Brown.
He worked in mining for most of his life, in Colorado and Nevada, most recently with Newmont Mining underground division.
Mr. Ryan enjoyed photography, geology and mining, mo-torcycles and his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat Ryan and nephew, Tim Weier.
Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife, Marci Ryan, Buena Vista; daughter, Jessica Ryan, Boulder.; son, Alex Ryan, Buena Vista; sisters, Jackie Weier and Carolyn Olson, both of Dodge-ville, Wis. and Mary Husom, Ridgeway, Wis. and brothers, Tom Ryan, Dodgeville, Wis. and Jim Ryan, Shakopee, Minn.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the River of Life International Church, Elko, Nev. Pastor Larry Fluery officiated.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. May 15 at the Salida United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Buena Vista Chapter, P.O. Box 4759, Buena Vista, CO 81211.

William K. Bondurant
William K. Bondurant, 80, died May 6, 2004, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 9, 1924, in Salida, to Webster E. and Myrtle (Brenton) Bondurant.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, wood working and spending time with his family.
Mr. Bondurant served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Aileen Wood Oct. 11, 1947, in Salida.
He worked for many years at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility as a lead worker.
Mr. Bondurant was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and Victor Bondurant.
He is survived by his wife, Aileen Bondurant, Salida; sons, Mike (Patti) Bondurant, Salida; Kenneth (Brigitte) Bondurant, Loveland and Gary (Vicki) Bondurant, Evergreen; daughters, Carol (Kendell) Kerrigan, Howard and Joyce (Lon) Putnam, Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, Omer Bondurant, Redmond, Calif. and sister, Emma Hos-kins, Brawley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-4 p.m. today at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends who desire may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph Helping Hands or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

William K. Bondurant
Mass of Christian Burial for William K. Bondurant was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fr. Henry Grodecki CM officiated the service. The soloist was Jennifer Hammond and the organist was DiAnn Bourget.
Musical selections were “Prayer Of St. Francis,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” “On Eagles’ Wings” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Pallbearers were Michael Lee Bondurant, Bennett Jones, Kenneth Jones, Alex Price, Jeff Wood and Danny Wood.
Interment followed at Fair-view Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

April Marie Tanner Wheeler
April Marie Tanner Wheeler, 25, died May 3, 2004, at her home in Salida.
She was born April 18, 1979, in Denver.
Mrs. Wheeler loved her children, Nadia and Izan.
She loved to dance, play pool and to be with her friends and family.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her husband, Mathew Wheeler and her children, Nadia and Izan of Salida; parents, Greg and Roberta Tanner, Salida; mother, Brenda Arko, Denver; special mom, Vicki Cole, Moffat; brothers, Andy, Tony, Daniel, Adam and John; sister, Andrea Horn; nephew, Christian and niece, Tori Horn; grandparents, Marianne Tanner, Denver and Glen and Barbara Arko, Castle Rock and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home, 203 E. Sackett Ave. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends who desire may make memorial contributions to April Tanner Wheeler Memorial fund through High Country Bank’s downtown branch, 130 W. Second St., Salida, CO 81201.

April Marie Tanner Wheeler
Funeral services for April Marie Tanner Wheeler were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Rev. Chuck Surface, Rev. Dave Blakeslee and Derwood Lane officiated. Musicians were Joann Pugh, Bonnie McDonald and Don Sheets.
Musical selections were “Rock of My Salvation,” “The World Rejected Me” and “Love Song.”
Pallbearers were John Tanner, Adam Tanner, Daniel Tanner, Tony Tanner, Andy Tanner and Matt Wheeler.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Fred C. Lesmeister
Fred C. Lesmeister, 66, died May 6, 2004, in Cañon City.
He was born May 9, 1937, in Halliday, N.D., as son of the late Stephen and Eva Maria (Gearhart) Lesmeister.
He married Virgene Anderson, who survives at the family home.
Mr. Lesmeister was a former member of the Eagles Lodge of Leadville and Past President of OCAW-224410 of Climax.
He was Catholic by faith.
Mr. Lesmeister loved to work on vehicles and woodworking.
He is also survived by his children, Anthony Duane (Susana) Lesmeister, William Joseph Lesmeister, Gina Lana Dare and Mary Ann Lesmeister; grandchildren, Jonathan Cline, Christopher Lesmeister Sharpe and Erica Lesmeister Sharpe; brothers, Leo (Gerry) Lesmeister and William Lesmeister; sisters, Katherine Odermann, Irene (Joe) Hartman, Marcel (Ralph) Hartman and Bernice Lesmeister; sister-in-law, Sharon (Edward) Smith; brother-in-law, Ronald (Barbara) Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lesmeister was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Anthony and Harry.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Catholic Cemetery in Leadville.
Arrangements are through Holt Family Funeral Home, Cañon City.

Alessandra Rae Vigil
Alessandra Rae Vigil
Alessandra Rae Vigil died Thursday morning in Fort Collins from complications following an asthma attack.
The 2003 Salida High School graduate was a freshman student at Colorado State University.
She is the daughter of Andrew and Vickie Sue Vigil of Salida, and the sister of Abran and Aaron Vigil.
Services are pending. A complete obituary will be published in Monday’s Mountain Mail.

Alessandra Rae Vigil
Alessandra Rae Vigil, 18, died May 13, 2004, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins following a severe asthma attack.
Alessandra was born Aug. 28, 1985, in Salida. She graduated from Salida High School in May 2003.
An accomplished musician, she loved music and in high school performed with the choir and the concert and jazz bands, playing saxophone and clarinet.
She was a member of the National Honor Society, played tennis, was baseball team manager, was active in drama productions and for two years served as a FIBArk Paddler.
She was finishing her first year at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She started majoring in political science, but decided to switch to “bugs,” as she called it, or the science of entomology.
She was a member of the CSU concert band and was accepted to perform with the CSU marching band when she returned in the fall.
At CSU, she was a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, a group dedicated to promoting Hispanic culture and heritage. She was a member of Salida’s Los Amigos.
During summers and school holidays she worked for the Salida Recreation Department where her skills with youngsters were appreciated; for The Mountain Mail as a receptionist and since age 13, for First Street Café as a bus- and wait-person.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
An honorary member of the Salida Merchants Association, she assisted with the Fourth of July Freedom Celebration and with Christmas Mountain and Holiday Park.
One of her friends said of Ally, “She always seemed to smile about her daily life, regardless of what wasn’t perfect or just right.
“To her, life was just right ... .”
Survivors include her parents, Andrew N. and Vickie Sue Vigil, Salida; brothers Abran and Aaron and special friend Dollie Perez, all of Fort Collins and grandparents Anthony and Virginia Vigil of Salida.
Other survivors include her aunt Vivian (John) Charmley, Salida and Dan Luna, Albuquerque, godparents; aunts Arlene (Lee) Rogers, Lamar and Annette Appel, Salida; uncles Anthony (Vanessa) Vigil, Albuquerque; Dean (Lisa) Scranton, Lamar and numerous cousins and great aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dean and Bea Scranton; her uncle Pete Appel and special family friend, John “Tito” Quick.
Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. today at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Following interment, the Vigil family will greet well-wishers at a luncheon reception hosted by Los Amigos, in St. Joseph Great Hall.
Instead of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Asthma Foundation or to Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority through Lewis and Glenn.

The musical selection was “We Are The Children Of The Lord.” Readers were Joyce Reno and Loretta Ordaz.
Pallbearers were Anthony F. Vigil Jr., Daniel Luna, Lee Rogers, Deano Scranton, Blaise Ungerman and Zerrel Appel.
Honorary pallbearers were Zach Appel, Andrew Charmley, John Charmley and Jason Luna.
Interment followed at Fair-view Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
