Charles Wood
Charles F. Wood, 81, of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., died August 2 at United Medical Center in Cheyenne. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Pine Bluffs.
He was born February 17, 1924, in Kimball to Ernest and Marjorie (Stuart) Wood. The family moved to the Carpenter and Egbert area in 1937. He graduated from Egbert High School in 1943.
In May 1954 he married Arlene Humphrey in Burns, Wyo. They had two children. She proceeded him in death in 1975.

Erma Schmidt
Erma Schmidt, 90, a longtime Kimball resident, died at the Kimball County Manor Aug. 6, 2005. Memorial services were Aug. 17, 2005 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating. Inurnment was held in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Kimball County Manor. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Erma Schmidt was born December 27, 1914 in Dorchester, Neb., the youngest of five children born to Bert and Anna (Pisar) Palky. She was raised in Dorchester and attended Dorchester High School. After graduating from high school she attended college. She worked as a secretary for the First State Bank of Dorchester. She was married to George Schmidt in Wilbur, Neb., on August 14, 1944. They moved to Kimball and Erma was a bookkeeper for George in his farming and oil business. They enjoyed traveling the country as George was into competitive Horseshoe Pitching. George died on July 25, 1990. Erma remained in her home on Washington Street until August of 2000 at which time she moved to Kimball County Assisted Living complex. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Mary Schuler
Mary Louise Schuler, 65, died in her home southwest of Redington, Neb. Sun., August 7, 2005. Her funeral will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport, Neb. at 3 p.m. Fri. Aug. 12 with the Rev. Rick Parker and Rev. Ron Nuss-Warren and Speaker Nevill Razac officiating, following a private burial at the Redington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Camp Rock Building Fund or the Panhandle Shrine Club’s Crippled Children Fund. Friends may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home at Bridgeport, Wed. until 5 p.m. and Thurs. from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Charles Beaver
Charles O. “Chuck” Beaver, 67, of Kimball died at his home on August 2, 2005. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. LeRoy Sanford and Carey Tsunemori will officiate. Cremation will be held after the service with burial at a later date. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Lions Club Leader Dog Fund. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anna M. Keller
Former Kimball resident Anna M. Keller, 97, died July 28 in Lincoln, Neb. Her husband, the late Edward Keller, was pastor at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball for 14 years.
Services were Saturday, July 30, at the Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln was in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been established in her name for Tabitha Health Care Facility and the Sheridan Lutheran Church.

Kolleen Coleman
Kolleen Maxine Coleman, 70, of Gillette Wyo., passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 05, at her home. Memorial Services were Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gillette with Sonja Brucklacher officiating.She was born on December 31, 1934, the daughter of Hans and Ruby (Snyder) Hansen in Kimball, Neb., where she was raised and educated. On April 21, 1955 Kolleen married Charles Ralph Coleman in Kimball, Nebraska.

Rosie M. Kenton
Rosie M. Kenton, 96, a longtime Kimball resident, died at Kimball County Manor on Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Funeral services were Friday, July 1, 2005, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating. A Rose service was preformed by the Truth Chapter #262 Order of the Eastern Star. Burial was July 2, 2005, in the Gibbon Cemetery in Gibbon, Neb. Memorials may be given to either the Trinity United Methodist Church or the Kimball County Manor. Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jack Holt
John Hershel "Jack" Holt, 61, of Harrisburg, passed away on his ranch last Tuesday, June 28, 2005.
Funeral services were Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Albin Community Center in Albin, Wyo., with Rev. Dick Young officiating. Interment was at the Albin Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Festival of Hope, Banner County Historical Society, Banner County Ambulance Fund, and the Banner County Alumni Scholarship Fund. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff took charge of arrangements.

Clitus Kelley
Clitus Faye Kelley, 74, a lifelong area resident, died at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. on June 19, 2005. Funeral services were Wednesday at the Kimball Presbyterian Church with Pastor Alan Foutz and Roger Gillming officiating. Burial followed in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials may be give to either the Presbyterian Church, Nebraska Children Home or the American Cancer Society. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Daniel Hurlbut
Daniel H. Hurlbut, 43, of Denver, Colo., died June 15, 2005 in Denver. He was born October 28, 1961 in Kimball to Fred and Jean Hurlbut. Funeral Mass was held Mon., June 20 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Denver.

Harold Darnall
Harold Oscar Darnall, 90, formerly of Kimball, passed away June 16, 2005. Funeral Services were June 21 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Scottsbluff, Neb. Interment was at Creighton Valley Cemetery in Melbeta, Neb. Harold was born May 19, 1915 in Melbeta to Harry Darnall and Grace Billings. He was a World War II Veteran and decorated with a Purple Heart.

Earle A. Flowers
Earle Alton Flowers, 94, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Kimball, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff, Neb. A private family funeral service was June 13 at the Jolliffe Funeral Home with Rev. David Wendel officiating. Private interment followed at the Mitchell Valley Cemetery. Jolliffe Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Martha M. Gawith
Martha M. Gawith, 87, died at the Kimball County Manor on Tuesday, June 14, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thurs., June 16, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Claude Constable officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends could call at the funeral home on Wed. until 8 p.m. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

“Bill” Novotny
William F. “Bill” Novotny, 89 of Kimball died Wed. June 8, 2005 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo. Funeral Services will be on Mon. June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kimball Presbyterian Church with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be Sun. June 12 from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Plains Historical Society or the Donors Choice. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Evelyn Pruss
Evelyn Irene Pruss, 80 of Sidney, Neb. and formerly of Kimball, died at Beverly Health Care Center on Sun., June 12, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thurs., June 16 at the Kimball Cemetery with Pastor Charles Bonds officiating. The casket will be closed and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the family. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Willard E. Stoddard
Willard Egbert Stoddard, 92, formerly of Banner County, died Sun., June 12, 2005 at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora, Neb. His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Fri., June 17 at the Hull United Methodist Church in Banner Co. with his nephew Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thurs. at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell and at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to the Hull United Methodist Church or the Banner Co. Museum.

Dyke F. Anderson
Dyke F. Anderson R. Ph, 55 of Lincoln, Neb. and formerly of Potter, passed away June 14, 2005. He was born July 2, 1949 to Ralph and Mary Abbie (Hix) Anderson in Sidney, Neb. and was raised in Potter and graduated from Potter High School. Memorial Service will be Sat., June 18 at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home with no visitation. Cremation will take place with a private family inurnment. Memorials may be made to the family. Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Virginia E. Shamberg
Virginia E. Shamberg, 90, formerly of Kimball, passed away Friday, June 3 on her 63rd wedding anniversary in Prescott, Ariz. A family memorial service was Sunday at the Church on the Rock in Prescott with Pastors David and Kathy Cass.

Neva Jane Jackson
Neva Jane Jackson, 65, of Windsor, Colo., and formerly of Kimball, of Kimball, died June 6, 2005 at her residence. Memorial services are Thursday (today) at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor. Interment will be at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Windsor-Severance fire protection district c/o Adamson Memorial Windsor Chapel 429 Main St. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.adamsonchapels.com

JoAnn Lee
Longtime Kimball resident JoAnn Lee, 60, died at her home June 5, 2005. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 10 at the Cantrell Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Daves officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery.

Earle A. Flowers
Earle A. Flowers, 94, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Kimball, Died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff. Arrangements are pending at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff.

Betty L. Downer
Betty L. Downer, 86 of Gering, Neb. and formerly of Harrisburg, Neb., died May 23, 2005 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Funeral service were May 26 at Gering Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Nebraska High School Rodeo, Chadron State Track & Field or Gering Summer Band Program.

Gene Fornstrom
Gene Edward Fornstrom, 63 of Kimball died at Regional West Medical center in Scottsbluff, Neb. on Friday, May 20, 2005. Memorial services were to be May 28, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball Memorials may be given to the Gene Fornstrom memorial fund. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Schadegg
Gary Lee Schadegg, 49, of Cheyenne, Wyo. and formerly of Kimball died at the Veterans Hospital in Cheyenne on May 18, 2005. Graveside services were at Kimball Cemetery May 24 Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the family’s choice. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry Mihm
The brother of Linda Mihm of Kimball, died May 20, 2005, at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, Neb. after a yearlong battle with cancer. Memorials for Larry Mihm, 66, may be given to the American Cancer Society. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial and services were in Indianola, Neb. where he was born.

Jennings Memorial
A musical memorial service for Dorothy Calkins Halcomb Jennings will be Sat., May 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Kimball. Music will be performed by David Calkins (nephew), Hank Jennings, Susan Badar and Carol Calkins. Dorothy, formerly of Kimball, died May 9 in Albuquerque, N.M.

Jennie Hamlin
The sister of Beverly Faden of Harrisburg died May 22. Lois Jennie Hamlin, 79 of Gering, died at Regional West Medical Center. Memorial services were May 25 at the Church of Christ in Gering. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation. Jollife Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Armada Elma Ryun Dolcater Carney
Armada elma Ryun Dolcater Carney, formerly of Kimball, died on May 11, 2005. She’ll no longer suffer the ravages of Alzheimers, but she will truly be missed. Memorial services were May 14 at Grist Mortuary in Hennessey, Okla.

John Davis
John Davis, 79, of Magnolia, Ark., formerly of Dix, passed away, Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.

Hilda Eichenberger
Hilda Eichenberger, wife of former Kimball resident Richard Eichenberger, died May 8, 2005. A Memorial Service will be Sunday, June 26, 2:30 p.m., at Whatley Chapel, E. 18th Ave. at Olive Street, Denver, Colo.

Lana Clarey
Lana Kay Clarey, 48, of Gering, formerly of Kimball, died Friday, May 13, 2005 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 20 at the Calvary Memorial Evangelical Free Church in Gering with Dr. Charles L. Bonds officiating. At the family’s request, cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to the family. Dorothy Mae Jennings
Dorothy Mae Calkins Halcomb Jennings, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, N.M. and step-mother of William Jennings of Kimball, passed away Monday, May 9, 2005.

James R. French
James French, 84, a native of Dix, died Oct. 15, 2005 in Tracy, Calif. A memorial service was Oct. 22 and internment was private.
Born in Dix on Sept. 21, 1921, he graduated from Chadron College and served as a navy communications officer in WWII, and participated in the liberation of Guam during the Pacific Campaign.

Cecilia Shandera
Cecilia DeWispelare Shandera, 102 and formerly of this area, died on Sat., October 21, 2005 at the United Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. Funeral services were Oct. 26, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., with burial in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 15, 1903 at David City, Neb. the third of nine children of Joe and Eugenia Vervynck DeWispelare, Belgian immigrants who came to America in 1900.

Charley E. Ramsey
Charley Ramsey, 54, of Dix died at his home Oct. 18, 2005.
Funeral services were Oct. 22, 2005 at Cantrell Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Johnson officiating. Inurnment was at the Dix Cemetery. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born on February 7, 1951 in Borger, TX; the son of Gerold and Alicia (Adams) Ramsey. He moved with his family at an early age to Dix. He attended school in Kimball and Dix and graduated from the Dix High School. He was married to Dixie Ann Evans on Nov. 7, 1968 in Harrisburg.

Susette Dohse
Susette "Susy" L. Dohse, 50, of Kimball, died at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff Oct. 12, 2005. Funeral services were Sat., Oct. 15 at the Kimball Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Nebraska Children's Home or the Kimball Presbyterian Church. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen V. Amsberry
Helen Virginia Amsberry passed away at UMC in Cheyenne October 7th 2005. She was born August 23, 1919. A Memorial Service was held Oct. 10 at Albin Baptist Church, Pastor Don Blomberg officiated. Funeral and burial services.

Rollin Raleigh
Rollin L. Raleigh, 73 died August 6, 2005 in Lincoln, Neb. from complications of an incurable blood disease. He was the companion of Marge Evans, of Kimball, for 19 years.
He was cremated with inurnment Aug. 24 in Turlock Memorial Park.
He was born August 19, 1931 in Merced, Calif. to Gordon and Elizabeth Raleigh and the family later settled in Turlock, where Rollin graduated from high school in 1950. He attended Modesto Jr. College, receiving an Associate of Arts degree.

Victor Schneider
Victor “Vic” Schneider, 84, a lifetime Kimball resident died at the Kimball County Manor on Oct. 9, 2005. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thurs., Oct. 13 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be preformed by VFW Post 2243.
Visitation was at the funeral home Wed. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to First English Lutheran Church, Prairie Haven Hospice, or Kimball County Manor. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Everett Wagner
Everett James Wagner, 75, of Kimball died Thurs. Sept. 15, 2005 at Kimball Health Services. A Memorial Service will be Mon., Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at Allnutt Macy Chapel, 702 13th St. in Greeley, Colo. with Rev. Roger Gillming officiating.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Kimball Future Farmers of America Chapter, 901 Nadine, Kimball, 69145 or to the Charity of the donor’s choice. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Verda Allison
Verda Anna Allison, 77 of Kimball, died September 11, 2005 at the Kimball County Manor.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 10 a.m at the Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be in the Dix Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, September 16 from 1-8 p.m. The casket will be closed for the service. Memorials may be made to the Dix Rural Cemetery. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
